Yes, have a few coins lying around, and perhaps seeing if anyone is interested in buying silver with BTC.  Checked on localbitcoins, and found a few in my area with a decent price so might see if they're still interested.  Would love to start a Bitcoin Trading Club at my university and maybe spread the news around and get others interested.

I'm in Tucson but would be up for a casual meetup at a bar/coffe shop in PHX or Tucson.

I have meet a few people in Tucson who are in to bitcoin, I know a lot of libertarians who might be interested in meeting in phoenix for a social hour or what not...

I would also like to start an AZ facebook group if more people are interested.

Anyone wanna take charge and try to set a time and place for meeting. I'm very interested, there was a chance that I would be in AZ this week. But if we can nail down and time and place, I'll clear my calendar.

If anyone in here would like to meet up over a beer in Tucson or Phoenix I started a Facebook group so that we might coordinate that.

Also, It might be nice to meet up with the bitintant crew in a few weeks in Scottsdale as our first meet up.

Wanted to bump this to the top. Scottsdale here. :)

I know there are couple of AZ bitcoin users out there...Someone snagged "BITCOIN" and "BTC" for license plates because I was too slow on ordering them.

I'm in Maricopa 15 Miles South of Chandler, and I'm open for a Phoenix Meet or a Tucson Meet.

I think I might make a New Post in a week or So for a meetup maybe in Tempe or So and see if anyone shows up.

Anyone have any good places to meet? someplace with WIFI :)

Well, how about trying something this month _and_ next month?

Will anyone come to June 12th (tomorrow) at 7 PM?

Alternately, would Friday June 14th at 9:30 AM be better?

For July, what about Wed July 3rd or Friday July 5th?

Also, it looks like Extreme Bean in Tempe has internet filtering that considers Mt. Gox to be a game site, so I would suggest instead Solo Cafe on the SE corner of Mill and Baseline.

Yeah, the convention itself probably is.  I remember one conference was held last year at another ritzy Scottsdale hotel with BitInstant guys, and we just used that occasion to meet up and hang out.  Perhaps we can meetup in the lobby, have some drinks and talk with Patrick if he's willing to stay into the night?  Not sure what his schedule would be.  I wouldn't mind seeing if I can email him and ask if he'd be open to that if there is enough interest.

I'm Ryan. I attended the July (?) monthly meeting at Boulders on Broadway. I am new to this bitcoin thing. I'm the guy who's trying to mine using an Nvidia GTX 560. Since then, I've ordered one USB Block Eruptor and it's being shipped now. Full time student at MCC.

Hopefully that jogged some people's memory. Now on to why I'm posting:

I would like some of you to at least entertain the idea of coming to MCC and giving a small talk/presentation on bitcoin. Just start off with the basics and talk for maybe 45 minutes or so. I would love to see a Raspberry Pi or something similar hooked up to a couple of the block eruptors and have them mining for the talk. I know that there is at least one person on here selling a set up like that. I just can't remember who. Anyways, if someone would be interested in doing it, please get back to me. I am thinking sometime in September or October. Maybe we could work something out where you (the presenter) would divy out the BTC mined during the talk (it would increase interest in BTC) in exchange for food at the school. We might be able to get our hands on some petty cash to have some food delivered.

Anyways, I hope that this interests some of you. Get in touch with me and let me know. Thanks.

Ryan

I'd be happy to come out and speak to your group at MCC, I was the one that was gave the blockchain presentation at the last meetup. I can certainly bring a small mining setup as well. Let me know what date so I can block it out on my calendar. Nice to see that you have found your way here to bitcointalk.

First (and hopefully monthly) Tempe Farmer's Market Offline Exchange will be held this Saturday, August 24th, 4-7 PM at the Tempe Farmer's Market on University in Tempe. This will be a Satoshi Square style exchange event.

Heard back from Patrick Murck, and he said the idea of holding a meet-n-greet sounds like a blast.  Will work out a specific time when the event gets closer. Wahoo! =)

Would we actually want to hold an extra meetup that month at that hotel?

Think it would be cool to have someone there to chat with and learn more about what new developments are in progress, state of affairs with impending regulation and financial news.  I'll be there at least for a couple hours that night if he does have extra time.

Yes satoshi square!  Can't wait.  I am developing a new product that I can hopefully have a sample of.

First off thanks to everyone who came to this meetup, very interesting to meet people locally interested in bitcoin.  I didn't organize it but I do own the coffee shop.  I was initially told 5-8 people but instead it looked like 20+ showed up.

Quick note about accepting bitcoin at Altura Cafe.  We officially don't offer it yet.  Last night was a trial run and I don't have all my employees trained on how to accept it or any marketing displayed that shows we accept it.  It is coming soon but I didn't want anyone showing up to pay in bitcoin and not being able to.  When we officially accept it I'll respond back here and maybe post something in it's own thread.  Until then if you will be in the area and want to drop by and buy coffee with bitcoin feel free to PM me and if the timing works I can probably be there to facilitate the trade.

Thanks!

Got a location in mind?  I'd love to get a west valley group going too. Our next meetup is tentative for Jan. 8th, but we are still looking for a venue.  We tend to bring a good crowd, yet it is still difficult to find local bar/restaurants that will accept BTC.

I hear ya!  West valley would be very nice, often difficult to make the trips and usually at work when they happen. ><... I wouldn't mind having it at my place.  I'm right off the 101 and Bell.  Not sure of too many places accepting BTC out here... Will look around.

Miner's Anonymous Meeting - N. Phoenix - Monday July 7th @ 6:30PM

"My name is Ninja and I am a Bitcoin miner, it's been 3 days since I found my last block."

Our office park has graciously offered up the conference room in the tenant center next to our new office to use for a monthly meetup.  We're centrally located in N. Phoenix near Metrocenter Mall, so this will be the spot for the Westsiders until we find a restaurant/bar that accepts bitcoin.  This group will meet once a month on the 2nd Monday evening of the Month. This group is a Miner's support and recovery group, using a similar format to A.A., basically an open round table/forum to share experiences, knowledge, expertise and support. More details to follow here and on Meetup.com.
