Title: Introducing DustDice.com
Post by: RHavar on April 11, 2015, 03:16:17 AM
New Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1221672.0

Link: https://www.DustDice.com

We decided to take a more visually-driven approach to traditional dice sites: As
you bet, you watch your balance go up and down.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/spa/quq37nq1583x0lf/at64wpxo.png

  • Green = win
  • Red = lose

Here's a quick rundown:
  • Mobile Ready
  • Keyboard driven betting (use your arrow keys)
  • House edge: 1% (or less!)
  • Investment System
  • Users, bets and funds managed by MoneyPot.com (http://MoneyPot.com)
  • Provably fair, and checked after each bet
  • Invest in the house, through MoneyPot.com

DustDice is the first app that implements the new MoneyPot API (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1020726.0), it's in an early state right now now, but we're improving fast.

I really like the visual aspect. I would like to see an "auto" though.

  • Green = win
  • Red = lose
  • Gold = Jackpot win

Here's a quick rundown:
  • Mobile Ready
  • Jackpot: Pick your own jackpot size, and have a chance to win on each bet
  • Keyboard driven betting (use your arrow keys)
  • House edge: 1%
  • Investment System
  • Users, bets and funds managed by MoneyPot.com (http://MoneyPot.com)

DustDice is the first app that implements the new MoneyPot API (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1020726.0), it's in a beta state right now since the underlying MoneyPot API is in beta mode, so bet accordingly.

Withdrawals are instant

One confirmation

Not yet, we plan on releasing one next week along with a chat server. Ask me on bustabit.com chat, and I'm happy to send you a few thousand bits to play with =)

It's an interesting idea, really innovative, we don't have visual dice before, rollin visual rolling is cool, you two have different visual ways.

I think your site will be very popular because moneypot running is successful, you will attract many fans here.

Isnt the house edge 2%?

Win prob: 49%
Payout: 2x

Right, you are very careful! 1% house edge should be <49.5 and >50.5

But from the graph it shows 1-49 and 52-100, shouldn be 2% house edge.

Title: Re: Introducing DustDice.com (beta)
Post by: subcypher on April 11, 2015, 04:18:02 AM
From the FAQ:

Quote
However, the house edge is 1%, not 2%. This is because we use the 1% as a chance to win the jackpot. For instance if the jackpot is 1 BTC, your probability of winning it is: wager/100/(wager + 1 BTC)

Title: Re: Introducing DustDice.com (beta)
Post by: RHavar on April 11, 2015, 04:18:40 AM
Isnt the house edge 2%?

Win prob: 49%
Payout: 2x

Well spotted, but there's also a jackpot. 1% of your bet goes towards winning the Jackpot at pure odds, which makes the house edge actually 1%. For instance, if you set the jackpot to 0*, you'll win it every 1 in 100 games. So you have 49% chance of doubling your money, a 1% chance of getting your bet back, and a 50% chance of losing. Which works out as a 1% house edge. Or you can set your jackpot to a much more substantial amount, and have a nice win when you hit it.

More details of this are in the FAQs.

* We currently don't support a 0 bit jackpot, the current minimium is 1 bit. Although that's something I can change if you guys want to win only your bet back

Yes you can, just login to the sites, create account, deposit and play

quick heads up for ryan, it seems like the dustdice is taking up whole of my browser page, will it means that there will be no chat feature for it?
and also what does the jack pot means, is it a multiplier of my wager or is it a number which I need to hit in order to get the jackpot?

You can play, but it's still a bit experimental. You need to register an account on MoneyPot.com to play, you then authorize the DustDice app and deposit some money =)

We're going to add a jackpot, but we're still deciding how it'll fit into the design.

Quote

The jackpot is just how much money you'll make (plus your bet back). A jackpot of 1 BTC, means if you hit it, you'll make a 1 BTC profit. The larger the jackpot you try win, the lower probability you'll have of winning it. As our bankroll increases, you'll be able to win bigger and bigger jackpots.

I'll create a techncial explanation of how the technical part of that works, and how to verify it as part of the provably fair. =)

If you check on the sites, you can see that the gameplay UI is definitely unique and different from the other dice sites, although For now , I personally thinks that it is a bit cramped due to the gameplay is taking up a whole screen

Vault is in beta. Do not register, unless you are willing to assume all associated risks

is safe to register there i got that when i try for sign up..

Vault is safe to register, it is just a reminder for everyone else. I myself can confirm that I have tried out the vault and have no issue or risk until this point

It automatically adjusts, to make it easy to chase your loses. If you don't like this behavior, we added an option:

http://i.gyazo.com/b4f11074894bc253cf1b2764bec26c4d.png

called "Custom bet multiplier", which you can lock to 2x /2  (or what ever you like)

Thanks for the strong turn out! We've so far had 27 BTC wagered so far, with our investors netting 56k from it. The public page for the app is: https://www.moneypot.com/apps/1-dust-dice which shows some recent bets, and will soon include some more detailed statistics.

It is fine at my mobile phone and I got no issue with this, the design is completely the same compare to the one at my pc browser, if you actually means that it takes up all your screen then yes, but it does not looks bad imo since it is the same when you use pc browser to access it

Just tried on android and it lags a little but otherwise is pretty usable. Silky smooth on an iphone. Some of the margin and hidden buttons don't look as great as they should, but that's something we'll keep improving

Hi,
I signed up in your site but I feel it's really hard to play, although I also have a look at the guide for that. So I really do not feel confident to deposit. If you could have a faucet for free Bitcoin to try it out or a demo or anything like that then maybe people will have peace of mind to play with real money. Hopefully I can find it earlier and I would definitely take a try at it .

Why is it not evident like this
https://i.imgur.com/iXnTlim.png

While it's shown like this ?

https://i.imgur.com/R4U8FU8.png

I am sorry but it gives me the feeling that your site seems to want us to deposit money before - a feeling of not really comfortable especially for a betting site...

I think , at least we have to know everything before deciding whether or not a deposit ? rather than vice versa.

At the introduction day dustdice is almost the 2nd largest dicewebsite (primedice and satoshidice are still first) regarding their amount of btc's wagered.
let's make it the 2nd largest! only 10 btc extra needs to be wagered for that  :)

Its nice and very clean and most of all there are no server errors like most new gambling sites but I wish there was a way to play for free just to try it out.

How did it become so popular all of a sudden in such little time?

You can ask on bustabit.com chat for free bits to try out the site.

Maybe because this one is made by moneypot.com which i think is popular :)

So, this is not a really a new gambling site,is it?

This is a new graphic intephace for bustabit.com,right?

I don't know if it would be good for the house to make the user conscient about he is losing  :P

In my opinion it is a mess to have everything with different names, different sites, different interfaces.. I have been reading all I have finished a little bit crazy with changes and references to one and other site. It would be really good if you could unify everything with a same brand, or at least unify this graphic interface with bustabit

moneypot moved to bustabit.com and the new moneypot is the vault, currently only for dustdice but soon for others too and bustabit will be one of them soon too.

Does nobody like this game? I am the only one who wagered last hour :(

Thanks, we have a big list of improvements we're making but unfortunately a referral system isn't on the near-term roadmap. We already cut the money pretty thin between our investors, app developers and ourselves. But it's something we can definitely revisit after the most important improvements are made.

How does the provably fair work? where can i check it? where is the code? hm? writing "fair verified" doesnt really convince me that the bet was fair..

I dont know if this is important for you to verify but I do know that every games that is associated with moneypot will be provably fair, otherwise the loss from the bet will be rejected, that is what I know as the main purposes of moneypot as a 3rd party verifier as well.

If you wish to verify it by yourself you can simply go to the setting and click fair, copy the next game hash, roll the game and you can verify the roll amount later

what is min investment? im interested

Cant find any info regarding this in the FAQ, but from my own experience I did invest in 1000 bits in dustdice

Good question. I wrote an article about how it works:

https://www.moneypot.com/provably-fair

and here is the code that runs on your browser, to verify each game:

https://github.com/moneypot/dustdice/blob/master/public/scripts/game-logic/engine.js#L192-L199

(You'll also notice, your browser is using crypto.rand if it's supported)

Right now there's effectively no minimum, so people can try it. However in the future, it'll probably be 10k bits or so.

We just pushed a big update, which removes the jackpot and slightly lowers the house edge even further.

We heard a lot confusion about the jackpot, and dislike from people who felt it was impure that they couldn't opt-out of the jackpot. So here's what we did:

Instead of the possibilities being 1 to 100 coming up it is now 0 to 100, which means there's 101 possibilities. The "standard" bet, with a 2x payout is "< 50" and "> 50" which leads to a house edge of around 0.99%

Give it a try, and let us know what you think!

Gave it a try it is fun I can't seem to find chat though. Also will chat be available across all the new games launched with moneypot.com?

I haven't played in a minute but the jackpot was the only reason I played here over other dice sites.  It's neutral EV so not sure why people didn't like it, plus it's always fun when you hit one.  Was it not possible to just have people opt in/opt out of playing with/without the jackpot?

It's in the top right, there's a little chat icon which brings out a chat bar

That's the plan, any app that registers with moneypot.com should be able to use our chat server https://github.com/moneypot/chat via its API. It's a work in progress, however. But DustDice is already using it

It's a really tricky thing, as it's really hard to tell with these sort of things. No matter what the feature or idea is, there will always be some people who vocally hate it, and people who vocally support it. But probably the biggest criticism one could say about the jackpot was that probably only 10% of people actually understood how it really worked, it's just not very intuitive. We hope the new system is a bit cleaner, and people enjoy the simplicity of it

However, multi-outcome rolls like jackpot dice are something that the MoneyPot api natively supports and we'd love to see people take the idea and run with it. Anyone is welcome to fork the code of dustdice (https://github.com/moneypot/dustdice) and more than that, we're in the late stages of preparing the documentation, template and tutorial for people to very easily start their own secure casino.

Thanks for all the players! We've improved performance, and reached a new milestone. DustDice.com itself has made 0.5 BTC risk free (as well as MP.com, in the 50/50 profit share), and investors have netted 2 BTC profit in total (at considerable risk).

Give it a try, and we'd love to see you on the chat

You can now see app specific stats. For instance, here is DustDice's:

I entered so skeptic to end a bit amazed, i like the idea.
Also , could it be implemented to bustaclam? It would be nice to be able to gamble with some clams.

Thanks! Glad you were impressed =)

DustDice uses the MoneyPot API, which is a bitcoin only service .. but there's no overarching reason why DustDice couldn't be hooked up to something like JD (although many of the best made by DustDice have a house edge significantly below 1% (to have nice clean numbers) which might be a bit of a pain point integrating).

On a side note, last night we had a bit of a winner taking 2 BTC:

It's the same shit, with a different skin. It's a bit of a labor of love, adding things I think are personally important:

* A nice UI that as you note, works well on a phone (and is very careful about network traffic)
* Shows your history graphically (god, can't stand reading list views)
* Has instant deposit/withdrawal from a decent web wallet (moneypot.com)
* Open source (https://github.com/moneypot/dustdice)
* Has nice round number (outcomes 0 to 100), payouts with only 2 decimals while having a house edge of <= 1%

On the last point, sometimes the house edge is considerably less than 1% in pursuit of those sweet round numbers. For instance, last night our mini-whale was playing at < 81, which has a payout of 1.24x   Interestingly the house edge for this is only 0.554%, because if the payout was any worse (1.23x, the house edge would be too high (1.356%).

So maybe it's more than just a pretty face but ultimately DustDice is a gimmick and bullshit free realization of everything I want in a dice site =)

Happy to announce that DustDice has been sold to a new owner "Ray" who will hopefully be able to promote and continue it's development. This means that DustDice is no longer maintained by MoneyPot itself =)
