I think it is not a real email from coinbase.com  in these days a lot if people have received these type of phishing email. Here more information: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/31wjt7/coinbase_scam_email_alert/

This is NOT the Coinbase that operates www.coinbase.com.

This is at best a Ponzi scam that is using the coinbase name and email spam to trick foolish greedy people into giving away their bitcoins.

More than likely, it's just a straight up send us your bitcoins so we can immediately disappear with them scam, and not even a ponzi.

You should definitely avoid such emails in general. You could get infected through them.
Especially avoid those that want funds or details to be sent to them.

Be careful, scammers are all over the cyberspace

According to reports, a team of scammers breached an outgoing email from Coinbase.

Scam, definitely. Somehow they stole our email addresses from some service we all registered to. Coinbase s got nothing to do with this email.

Bitcoin-based ventures have recently become a safe heaven for con-artists and scammers. It is impossible to educate everyone about these type of scam attempts. Obviously hundreds, if not thousands might have already lost their hard earned cash by now.  ???

This is scam and mail is not from Coinbase. Coinbase sent email to the clients with explanations and they denied any connection with this investment offer.

Coinbase will become a target now, as they grow bigger and bigger... there are already people claiming that their accounts have been hacked.

Source : http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/324lh3/apparently_my_coinbase_account_was_hacked_not/

There are also some disgruntled people out there, who was kicked out of Coinbase, due to it's strict application of KYC and AML and they could drive this too.

Why would they want to offer a service like this? They have enough investment capital and a steady income from it's operation.

I can't find anything related to it stated anywhere on the official coinbase website. Also if you happen to be at the reddit subforum, there is already an on-going discussion warning users against clicking any link to leads you the investment site. It's a clear cut example of a possible scam.

Hey OP remember the generous ;) Nigerian Prince who wanted to give us all of his wealth and he only wanted us to send him the Bank Transaction Fee $150-$300 so that he could transfer the money to us?

This is him and he has a lot of Bitcoins now that he wants others to have.  :D

tl;dr
This is a scam, stay away from any such offers.

I find it really funny that Op posted this here and was not sure whether it is real or not. But after first fast glance at this message from "coinbase" I can tell that these conditions are so surrealy insane that either coinbase went rogue and are trying to scam everyone or this is some sort of fake coinbase/scam attempt. Knowing that it is not from coinbase.com is assuring. I just hope there won't be many idiots who will fell for it.

Like someone claimed he received a email from bitcointalk.org, the emails could be fade even with a true email address.
Getting a 150% profit in 10 days? who can make this happens? only the scammers.

You are wrong, no one can make this happens! Either the scammers because 150% of profit in only 10 days, it's a stupid and useless ponzi. However all we have explained it is a scam, I think it is not more necessary to write it. Isn't it?

I did not receive any such email from coinbase and the content looks fraudulent. If it was true then you could log into your coinbase account and check on the website for the investment offer. It's better to report this email to the coinbase support department to get the scammer's account frozen.

101 to scams and specially random emails that come out of nowhere, supposedly from a trusted source: If it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true, therefore it's false.

Never say never. From what I could see, after observing bitcoin related companies for more than 2 years (since 2013). I am sure you will agree that you can't trust anyone. Even the biggest bitcoin exchanges can fail, and even reputable companies like GAW miners can be lead astray. Coinbase is a pillar of bitcoin for now, and I would like to keep it that way, but who knows? Even they may fail someday.

Sadly that is true. Coinbase seems to be legit though and becoming more mainstream with their "wall street" backers, but yes I am still Very very careful where I store btc and for how long.

It is ironic that even if I don't have coinbase account,  I am getting coinbase phishing emails.

What concerns me is that they managed to get hold of legitimate email service of coinbase. Tomorrow someone can receive a password reset email from a legitimate coinbase address which can steal the real password via phishing.

Their official twitter acknowledged the phishing attempt:

Chances are if it's not of their official blog, https://blog.coinbase.com/, then it's fake.
