Post by: crypto-official on April 30, 2015, 04:03:01 PM

It is my honor to today release the new altcoin named "Crypto" (short: "CTO").
Crypto is a brand new coin, designed from the future, and with merged ideas from all the best altcoins.
It features fast transaction times, identity protection, ASIC - resistance (application-specific integrated circuit),
and perhaps most importantly: protection against inflation.
If you are interested in learning more about this coin, please visit the official website: (Temporary website):

About Crypto:

(image designed by: Houndirno) Thanks bro!

Crypto is a decentralized cryptocurrency designed for short transaction times, anonymity and a consistent, stable value. Crypto is a coin designed with the best features of the other cryptocurrencies around; its purpose is to form a flawless coin with a strong community based on all the great ideas of other cryptocurrencies. There is also another purpose of Crypto; to fix a problem which almost all the other cryptocurrencies have to endure. As more coins are generated the value of these coins goes down by a great amount over time becuase the amount of coins you get is only lowered every few years. However, this is not the story for Crypto. Every 10 days, the amount of Crypto distributed to the miners is lowered, which should fix de inflation issue. In addition, the decrease in Cryptos can be fully customized at any time without having to fork the block chain due to the programming structure of the subsidy.

The graph down below demonstrates the percentage decrease in subsidy according to the initial subsidy, every ten days for the next 20 years.
http://static.wixstatic.com/media/020c62_170e8105f3a54bf2bad6f341cdc1aa92.png_650

As seen on the graph, the amount of coins distributed to the miners decreases more and more as time goes by. In theory, the value of Crypto would rise with how hard it is to obtain them which means that more investors will be interested in buying Crypto, thus giving Crypto a higher value.

Moreover, Crypto uses a proof-of-work algorithm which ensures that "ASIC-miners" cannot completely overtake the mining power of the network and thus weakening the security. "ASIC" stands for "application-specific integrated circuit" and are used by miners to mine coins way faster than possible for any standard computer. The issue with ASICs is that they ruin the concept of a decentralized currency, as companies can invest large amounts in such devices and completely overtake the network. The Lyra2RE algorithm which Crypto uses for hashing transactions, is designed to be ASIC- resistant: By other words, it is impossible to mine with anything but a standard computer.

In addition, Crypto uses Dark Gravity Wave 3, with only 30 second block times. DGW prevents Crypto for being a victim to merged mining, where the difficulty may fluctuate so much it could take hours, or seconds, to mine a block. The 30 second block time is also an attempt to try to fix a problem with many other cryptocurrencies: Transaction times. This ensures that all transactions should be completed in less than 30 seconds.

Finally, Crypto features stealth addresses which ensures that users of Crypto can (if they want to) send and receive Cryptos withouth the possibility of linking the transactions to your address, which means you can stay anonymous. The problem with many other cryptocurrencies is that when you send somebody some coins, or receive, people can link this transaction to your account and see all the transactions made by that account. If you want to read more about stealth addresses, please visit: https://vertcoin.org/wp/stealth-addresses/

Details:
Crypto is designed for ASIC-recistance, dezentralazation and protection against inflation.

Cryptos’s algorithm (Lyra2RE is designed to resist the development of custom mining hardware (socalled ASIC-miners), ensuring that transactions are validated by a widely distributed network, to support the decentrelazation of the coin and protect its privacy.

The Lyra2RE algorithm was designed by the Vertcoin developers, if you want to read more please visit: https://vertcoin.org/Vertcoin-DavidMuller.pdf

Technical details:

POW Algorithm: Lyra2RE
Total amount of coins: 65789100 CTO (will be generated over the course of approximately 25 years)
Block time: 30 seconds
Block rewards (subsidy): Initially 5 CTO, reduced every 10 days (28800 blocks) with 0.00547945 CTO
Block subsidy never halves (read above)
Difficulty re-target time: 30 seconds (retarget every block with Dark Gravity Wave)
Features anonymous stealth addresses along with regular addresses.
Premine: Approx 0.025% - Now, before commenting on the premine, please read this:

The premine (0.025%) of Crypto is certainly a subject that will be discussed and criticized, which of course is not without reason. However the intention of the premine is:

    *    Use the profit to run/improve servers, nodes, websites and hire a professional team.

    *    Use the profit to pay the bills of different services and developers.

    *    Emphasize that the Crypto team will not make any money on this project, save for the premine which will be used for improving this project. Also, the developers
themselves will have no other benefits or early access to mine the coin.

    *    Distribute the premine to different sources to make sure of market variety.

    *    Use some of the premine to pay the developers for their work.

    *    We want Crypto to be as decentralized as possible. Not making any money on the project save for the premine, means that Crypto will be brought forward by the entire
community, rahter than a small group of people, as Crypto will be built on the base of making a good, decentralized currency rather than making profit.

    *    Distribute Crypto to random people, using the giveaway to generate hype around the coin.

Get Started:

Read this if you have downloaded Crypto-qt before:

Previously, Crypto had an unsuccessful launch that only lasted for a few hours, and thus some of you might already have downloaded the crypto-qt. Now, it is very important that you download the new release of crypto-qt, and that you delete your old wallet - if not you will not be able to connect to the Crypto network. Do this by navigating to "run" by pressing the "windows button" and then "r". Type "%appdata%" without the apostrophes, and click on the folder "Roaming". Inside the Roaming folder, delete the folder named "Crypto" and now you can download the new wallet and start it up normally.

Virus scan for the Qt file:

You need to use a miner specifically for the Lyra2Re algorithm, which can be found at: https://vertcoin.org/wp/mining/

You are using the wrong algorithm, and I think you need a custom miner. You are running "lyra2" algorithm, this coin runs on the "Lyra2Re" algorithm ;) good luck with the mining though

Okay... I don't know what the issue is then :/ My specialty is not within mining, but other people mad it work on the failed, previous release... Until a fix can be applied, I would recommend mining from the wallet instead, it will be a bit slower but still works just fine.

Yep, 0 for rent on Miningrigs,

Remember, the algorithm is designed specifically to prevent ASIC-Mining for decentralization, and thus you need mining rigs consisting of graphic cards, which is harder to obtain.

If this coin ever becomes something big. I have no doubt ASICS will be made. Now that is not a bad thing, rather a good thing. Its only bad for the kids with their gaming rigs.

Anyhow, good luck with your new coin. Since my GPUS are boxed up I will mine some with CPU.

You are absolutely right, but if ASICs will be made for this coin, the current plan is to fork to another algorithm, as have been successful for other cryptourrencies. However, we believe decentralization is very important for a currency, and the goal of Crypto is to be "owned" by the entire community. Thank you as well :) and good luck with the mining :)

The algo is Lyra2, the LYRA2RE is Lyra2 Release Edition, it's because they put out a test algo before releasing...

Yup, this is true, Thank you for clarifying :)

Please don't post fake evidence, we have already ran virus scans: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/790fff1c94cdda7729c128aebd8d5794faf558a1f6e928304de3c00dc7ffc030/analysis/1430419047/ for instance.
The problem is that the bitcoin miner appears as an virus for some antivirus programs because it steals all the processor power and is thus
looked at as a virus.

Hmm, okay I see the hashes are correct, and I am sorry then. However, these are not viruses, but as I said the bitcoinminer application would seem very suspicious, as it evidently uses all of the computers processor power.

Hopefully, arrangements will be made later today, but it is possible that it could take some time as we might have to vote for the coin on an exchange.

And i like the Network-Hash at this Point.
I'm able to Mine about 1.5 coins per 5 Minutes with only one 7950 and a Intel core2quad.

You can try your processor too  8)
Is this card a HD7850? It's about the same with my HD7850, except I set GPU clock to 1050, and gives 370 Kh/s.
My AMD FX processor though, at 4GHz gives about 600 Kh/s with 7 threads.
So if you have a top processor (Intel or AMD) try it.

Who knows? It all depends on how popular it becomes. If you calculate the maximum possible value, 100 CTO are generated in 10 minutes initially, whereas 50 Bitcoin were generated in 10 minutes initially. This means that if the coin were to get as popular as Bitcoin, 1 CTO would be worth over 100$. This is of course highly unlikely if not impossible. Realistically, we probably need to divide that value by 100 or more... I am excited to see how it ends up being :)

i am wondering what miners u guys are using

with my i7 2600 i get 480khs, almost same as my 7870 tahiti (jokercard)

1) You're getting more than my GTX680  :o ! The CPU mining is better (for this coin) ?

2) i7 4770 at how much GHz?

3) ok crazy, using the same. then it looks like ur cpu is just that much beter in mining then the i7 2600

1) I do not know ;)

2) standard frequency 3.4 Ghz

3)  ;D

So the distribution is pretty interesting, I also like the algo. What else does this coin have to offer over the competitors?

Softball question. First mover advantage, large capital investment groups, and widespread merchant adoption. I'm sure there's more but I think that pretty much covers the major ones.

Perhaps most importantly:
Stealth addresses to ensure the users privacy.
Inflation protection - the subsidy does not halve, but is reduced every 10 days with a set value which means Crypto will be increasingly difficult to obtain as time progresses.
Non-profit organization. We have 0 profits save for the premine which will be used to pay for the servers - which means the coin will be controlled by the community.

It is not about how well algos work, it is generally caused by how many operations it takes to generate one hash. http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency If you visit this site, you will get a base hashing power for the different algorithms. Being able to generate more hashes per second is not really a positive feature, or else everybody would be using sha256 for their altcoins.

What a heck happend??? I had 140 coins in my wallet and now when it's synced it shows 0,00!

Any ideas?
Did you download the wallet before the relaunch?

I mined my coins with wallet like 27'th of April or somewhere around that so I guess yes.

Why is there not a lot of trading?

The coin was just released and people are very cautions and afraid of making a bad deal, I would guess.
People are probably wondering if they are buying to expensively or selling to cheaply...

Hey, if you can share the specific model of your graphic card, I am able to make an educated guess withing 10-15% accuracy based on mathematical calculations.

My 960 was mining worse than my 950ti but it seems that the released version of ccminer is not optimized for the new maxwell. My 970 is only about 1.8 times that of the 950ti.

I just wanted verification to make sure. So to me it seems it is not worth it mine this algo on my 960 or 970 so I'll just keep my 750ti's on it and mine something else with the other cards.

Hello Crypto community, today I want to give a little status report of the past, the present and the future. Crypto started as an amateur project, with a failed 1. release, and things were looking grim, but then the 2. launch came... In just a few hours many people were mining the coin and feedback from the community was in general amazing. Crypto grew stronger for every hour, and so did the network hash rate. Already on day 3, we made it onto C-CEX, one of the larger altcoin exchanges online. Crypto had the best start we could have hoped for.

Now, Crypto is in it's most uncertain period, we just got unto an exchange and uncertainty starts to spread: "What will Crypto be worth?", "Will it be profitable to mine Crypto?", "What will happen with the price?", "Will the value rise, so I can buy Crypto now?" . For the time being, these questions remain unanswered, but if we can make it through this period where people are dumping their mining profits to cover electricity costs, and ensure they at least get something for all their effort... then I know personally my hope for Crypto will be great.

Finally, we move on to the future. Very soon, Crypto will have it's official block explorer, which we hope will contribute to get Crypto onto the mayor exchanges like Cryptsy and Bittrex. Other than that, I have some clear visions of which I will work hard to achieve, and the most important ones are listed here:

1) Growing a strong community.

Perhaps most importantly, growing a strong community is vital for a successful altcoin today, as it is the mayor aspect boosting the value of Crypto, and spreading it's purpose and message to people all around the world. With a strong community, the coin will never stop moving forward.

2) Hire more people to the dev team

A strong and competent dev team is very important for the evolution of Crypto, and to make sure that marketing is done right and coding is being coded well, I am hoping to expand the dev team and get experts in every field needed.

3) Make Crypto available for everyone.

This is connected with the dev team, but in the future we want to release Crypto for different applications and devices, such as OSX, Android, IOS and more so that everyone can have Crypto readily available whenever they need it.

That's it for today goals, more plans and goals will be coming tomorrow :) Stay tuned!

You might not have read where I said this algo isn't optimized for the new cards as it was out before the cards.

Again for the current released mine it is not optimized. That is not saying there are not private miners that are optimized.  ;)

Hope that helps.

So should we wait a bit or start now with trying to get listed by coinmarketcap?

They require a blockchain to get listed  :P We dont have one yet

Yea a block explorer would be nice before I invest much into this thing (I'm sure others feel the same). I would really like to confirm the tiny premine for myself. If it all looks good, this coin could have some real potential.

*cool algo that is balanced between cpu and gpu
*good initial distribution (especially at this price!)
*block reward emission curve is very interesting
*easy to mine
*fast block times
*tiny premine

We are having a small issue in the block explorer, which we hope to fix today. You can check the premine in the source code by now, and at least make sure it is legit. :) I am glad to see you like the potential qualities of this coin, and I have nothing to hide :)

Post by: crypto-official on May 05, 2015, 03:01:20 PM

Let's look at some new goals for Crypto in the future!

4) Boost the market volume of Crypto

We want more people to trade Crypto, we hope to contact multiple different exchanges and make sure that trading organizations gets involved. A higher market volume, will also boost the price of Crypto.

5) Better and more marketing.

To keep Crypto's popularity growing, we need to improve the marketing, and be more active in both old and new social medias. This is something that is perhaps most important at the time being.

6) Find the right investors!

At the current time, we are looking for investors who can purchase Crypto. Right now, one investor could buy the entire market, thus pushing the price forward. Investors will provide a solid foundation for trading and also, again boost the value of Crypto.

7) Keeping the community alive.

We want Crypto to be controlled by the community. One of the mayor purposes behind Crypto is that it is decentralized. Therfore, it is vital for Crypto that the community controls what happens to the coin, and that the developers listens to the community's needs. Crypto will always support the community, and our goal is to create the strongest and most active community of all altcoins.

That's it for todays goals for the future! Stay tuned on twitter and bitcointalk, and a new update will follow up tomorrow!

Buying it, I believe is perhaps the easiest and best way. Then other exchanges might get interested in the coin, more miners will come due to the massive increase in value and other people will start looking into Crypto :)

I've contacted them once, but I think they require two more things we currently don't have, A supply of coins in real time and a supply of coins open to the public not held by investers. I think the OP should try if he hasn't.

I want a feucet as well  ;D I looked at some servives what would do them for free but they obvs get the money from the advertisement, I think the dev is doing on fecuet on the website where people get coins for saying nice things about the coin but it doesnt seem to be working ;p

Currently its just trying to get people to buy the coin, I keep buying small amount on C-CEX to keep the coin looking active but we just have to keep at it, bringing new features to the coin and exciting projects

Currently its just trying to get people to buy the coin, I keep buying small amount on C-CEX to keep the coin looking active but we just have to keep at it, bringing new features to the coin and exciting projects

Yup, tomorrow I will be able to work :) I am starting to get healthy again :)

So what is next for this coin? I am open to donating CTO to various projects. Perhaps a faucet or something.

Stealth Address is already in place, if we can just follow Crave's path and continue with the developments that will surely bring huge increase in folk's interest.

NO VIRUS

Standard bitcoin related false positive. Miners are often included in botnet malware etc. so antivirus flags them as bad.

Yup, this is due to the bitcoinminer apllication, which basically steals all the computers processing power, thus some antivirus believes this is a virus. Please get your facts right before posting false evidence. Just contact any antivirus support, they will confirm it.

Damn! I hope soon is soon and not not soon

Edit:
Got a reply from a betting site which would add Crypto to Crypto-gaming.com (I thought they would go hand in hand ahaha) For 1btc and then 0.2 btc a month :c

Hi,

About adding altcoin, here are our requirements
- 1 BTC one time fee,
- then 0.2 monthly fee.
- "Crypto" wallet running on your server/computer 24/7. We connect to this wallet, and you take all the "Crypto" profit/loses. If players lose, you get the winnings to your wallet. If they win, winnings go from your wallet.
- You must have supply of "Crypto" for winnings. If there will be no supply for winnings, we'll remove it from website. If there's no connection to your wallet for a period of time, we'll remove it.

We'll promote your coin on all social medias and on all forums that we participate.
You'll receive a dofollow backlink from our website - like other coins on first page on the bottom.

If you're interested, let me know.

Best regards,
Crypto-Games

Right. I will just give a small announcement right now.
I am working on setting up an online wallet, which, if all goes well should be up and running soon.
Moreover, I am looking into getting Crypto onto some sort of a gambling site, or similar.
Also, I have been thinking about trying to get the coin on to bittrex, cause they told me we needed
community demand, so we might have to work on that.
Finally, I would love to hear all of your ideas on how we can keep Crypto alive. I still want Crypto
to be controlled by the community and not only the Crypto team, so please feel free to give some
tips/advice or what you would love to see.

You don't really have to pull anything, just continue bring active development and the coin will grow. Kept quiet even no respond to the only pool operator is surely a good way to kill it.
I honestly hadn't checked the forum, cause I thought people would loose interests. The thing is, hosting all the different servers costed a lot operating, and as I said previously, this is a non-profit organization. Therefore I do not know if I able able to continue with the development.

I am sorry, but it is impossible to finance Crypto, when it costs far more than the income every month. Still, the coin is completely open source, so Crypto can persist anyways, but as I said again is it a non-profit organization, and when we cannot even cover the costs, then we shouldn't be doing this.

Thanks, We will start something soon. Still looking for more members.

In the mean time, these are the current active nodes:

Code:
addnode=37.59.27.14
addnode=85.25.214.214
addnode=46.105.118.15
addnode=24.21.89.229
