Title: Seeking Loan for Sci-Fi Blu Ray Movie Release
Post by: Rarity on September 05, 2012, 01:42:09 PM
Greetings,

One of my favorite movies of all time is called Battlefield Earth.  It is a classic, critically acclaimed (http://www.joblo.com/reviews-2010.php?mode=joblo_movies&id=597) science fiction movie starring John Travolta which was based on a New York Times best-selling novel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_Earth_%28novel%29) of the same name.   The movie features prescient themes about the dangers of mind control and the ability of much maligned underground churches to resit the influence of those who would oppress them.

Unfortunately, this cinema classic has yet to receive a Blu Ray release for reasons that are not entirely clear to me.  I have worn out my VHS and DVD copies of the film. What I am looking for is a loan in the amount of 48,000 BTC to spearhead a Blu Ray restoration and release of this excellent film.  I seek no profit from this enterprise, any profits and royalties from the success of this venture will be returned to the investors who have made it possible.  My only interest is to see a film classic presented to a larger audience in the best possible format.

Please contact me to discuss your investment in this venture, SERIOUS OFFERS ONLY: raritybestpony@gmail.com

Hah!  I've been thinking of offering to cover part of your bet just because I know I would never have to pay out since you are so obviously on the right side of things.  I'll hold you to this!

Perhaps this has something to do with it:

from the link you posted:

The subsequent film adaptation, released in 2000, was a commercial failure and was criticized as one of the "worst films ever made".

I sense another classic thread in the making. I beg you all to proceed.

Also from Rarity's link, there's this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_Earth_%28film%29#Fraud_by_Franchise_Pictures):

Quote
Fraud by Franchise Pictures
Following the failure of Battlefield Earth and other films independently produced by Franchise Pictures, The Wall Street Journal reported that the FBI was probing "the question of whether some independent motion picture companies have vastly inflated the budget of films in an effort to scam investors"

[...]

The case was heard before a jury in a Los Angeles federal courtroom in May–June 2004...Intertainment won the case and was awarded $121.7 million in damages.

The film cost ~$95M, earned  ~$30M, and Franchise Pictures pays out ~$122M in lawsuit judgements...let's release it on blu-ray!   ::)

What I am looking for is a loan in the amount of 48,000 BTC to spearhead a Blu Ray restoration and release of this excellent film.

48K BTC is quite a sum...care to post a business plan/pro-formas?  It might help you attract investors.

Didn't this movie practically ruin John Travolta's career? It was a stinker. How can you even consider criticizing dank bank with ideas like this?  :D

If you get this through, could you then please use some of the lessons learned to go ahead and put onto Blu Ray: Gigli?

I have worn out my VHS and DVD copies of the film.

Just curious, how did you wear out a DVD?

If you rub it on your private parts too long and too often, there will be read errors after a time, especially if you do not remove the sticky stuff.

Any interested parties can contact me by e-mail and I will put you in touch with my lawyer for more details.  I have the appropriate collateral to back the loan and if this doesn't work out I will go a more traditional route.  I just though it would be cool to fund a unique project like this via the Bitcoin Community as part of proving what amazing potential we have here.

I have a background in public relations and advertising so I am familiar in general with how complex a project it will be to promote this film given that a minority of critics have unfairly given it negative reviews.

The actual process of conversion to Blu Ray I am not familiar with but through my spiritual group I have many contacts in the film industry who I am sure would be happy to work with me on this matter.

Thank you for your interest.

Do you mean that massive weed farm somewhere in the woods in Colorado?

I thought your "spiritual group" was all about business - otherwise the courses would be free  ;)

Why do you need to refer individuals to your lawyer for details?  Why not just post them here?  Have you done any planning for this project at all?  If you haven't developed a business plan with accompanying financials, how did you arrive at the 48K BTC capital requirement?

Anyone with serious interest can contact me for further details.  I prefer, and I have found most clients prefer, to hammer out the details of deals such as this in private.  If you have no such interest, I thank you for your attention and we don't have anything more to discuss.

You don't appear to be very customer-oriented...because in the time it took you to type that, you could have sent a PM with the details I've requested.

What's your problem with doing business via PM?

Myself and my clients in other dealings have found that a greater deal of security can be found by handling these issues offsite.  If you want customer service, go to Costco, I'm only looking for serious investors who are willing to put forth the same effort I am.

???

I don't understand.  How would sending a PM with, say, a high-level budget showing how you plan on spending the 48K BTC pose a security risk?  For that matter, how would posting a high-level budget in this thread pose a security risk?

BTW, Costco isn't really known for their customer service.   :P

I don't think 50k people have even watched this movie, let alone 50k that would like it enough to purchase it on blue ray. This deal doesn't sound right. Where is team Ponzi when you need them?  :D

 And why is that?

Because you are idiotically shouting questions when you have been instructed to ask them in e-mail.  I have already discussed everything you have asked about privately with individuals with enough reading comprehension to understand how to proceed.

You have missed your chance on this one, you blew it, better luck next time.  You should take some business classes so you can stop grandstanding instead of striking while the iron is hot.  You talked yourself right out of a chance at this deal.

I don't recall shouting anything, so no need to get so upset.

I have already discussed everything you have asked about privately with individuals with enough reading comprehension to understand how to proceed.

Cool story, except none of the information I've asked you to produce requires any level of secrecy at all.  Yet for some reason you refuse to provide the community at large with any details on how you plan to use their BTC, preferring instead to disseminate "information" about the project separately with individuals in the dark.  Why is that?  If all further info (other than that in your first post) was to be doled out by you via e-mail, why didn't you simply make your post and lock the thread?

Tell you what: if any of the individuals you claim to have dealt with privately is a long-time respected member of this forum, have them post in this thread vouching for your credibility.  Do that, and I might consider ceasing "idiotically shouting questions".  Otherwise I'll continue to post in this thread as I please.

You have missed your chance on this one, you blew it, better luck next time.

You sound like my wife.

You should take some business classes so you can stop grandstanding instead of striking while the iron is hot.

Not sure how taking business classes would stop anyone's grandstanding.  Perhaps you meant classes of a more spiritual nature?

In any case, I look forward to seeing Battlefield Earth on blu-ray at my local retailer.  Hopefully you can get it out there before the format dies.

Royalties for your little wet dream of a project will be an expense that will be deducted from your bottom line (duh).

Please do not attempt to discuss matters you do not understand.  The royalties in question would be for things such as broadcast rights and merchandise for the restored film which will be my intellectual property.  This is precisely why it is a waste of time to discuss the details of this matter on the forum, it is pointless to discuss it with individuals who have no understanding of the entertainment industry and will simply be wasting my time.

I am in talks with a serious individual in e-mail, so for now the purpose of this thread has been fulfilled.
