Title: AdSense for faucets.
Post by: daddybios on May 27, 2015, 05:53:51 PM
Many administrators faucets explicitly urge to click on the Adsense ads. These faucets are still working.
Adsense does not send them for it in the ban? They receive payment? How is this possible?

Try reporting them to google, and see how much more they would last, especially if you screenshot the requirement for users that urges them to click on ads.
They are getting away and still are operating because noone made a complaint yet, so you can have the honor and do a world a favor.
I still dont get why people waste time with faucets, theyre nothing more than a lifedrain, unless you make a bot for them.

cheers

Are you sure they are using adsense? I thought adsense only allowed you to have 3-4 ads per page and usually most faucets that ive seen have 10, literally. So maybe thats why they are not banned

I know that the most famous Bitcoin faucet which is freebitco.in as far as I know use Google Adsense but I don't see why it won't last , they are placing ads like everyone else , not sure if asking peopleto disable Adblock is illegal tho . for the others ... most of them use something else like Adbit.co and other Advertising networks that use Bitcoin so they basically don't care

I'm not a snitch that would send reports. Let them earn.
Perhaps it is time to create your faucet. And earn Adsense.

The Bad Guy,
I do not mean to disable Adblock.

Oh well , then this is illegal and not allowed by the rules of Adsense , you can see here : https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/48182?hl=en
Quote

"In order to ensure a good experience for users and advertisers, publishers participating in the AdSense program may not:
--
Encourage users to click the Google ads using phrases such as "click the ads", "support us", "visit these links" or other similar language.
--

I guess they are simply lucky then , most of the time people report them so they get banned and on this case they didn't because they use faucets ;D so they earn (both of the parties)

ah no worries, google will find them and ban them, maybe for lifetime..just matter of time.

There are too many people who use even though it is prohibited. But google find them and booooooommm! Ban forever! Dont worry.

Most faucets that are using adsense are like "hit and go" projects. It's just a matter of time google finds them, especially when payday arrives... And the ban is the worst thing you can get especially when google ads are your only source of income.

P.S. I didn't know that messages "please disable AdBlock" is violation of ToS. Is that correct??? If so, EVERY FAUCET does it, so everyone must get banned.

nope, is ok to notify users that they are blocking ads and ask them to disable it for the site..but is not ok to ask them to click on add..

Goolge only bothers to research if they actually had a decent amount of revenue worth looking up or just by chance.
It's small change for them and faucets are tiny by nature

Even you didn't ask visitor to click google ads on faucet, but putting the google ads are prohibited by them I think.

I ever applied once on my faucet and get rejected after that with "lack of contents" as the reason. Putting "what is bitcoin" and few pages and it still not qualified as one.

So, they just waiting to get blocked from adsense.

yeah, it is highly risk stuff with adsense.) I'm not sure how it works now, but when I was active webmaster of several pages, lot of guys used adblock, google banned users on daily basis without explanation (just something like TOS violation wtf) and those bans are for lifetime.

from this perspective and effort, which you must but in (faucet script, webhosting, propagation, CPM, CTR...)...well not sure if it is even worth to run it.

But it is fun to run one. I love it when I'm testing on some codes and stuff, when it successful it would give me joy feelings or something, while giving something to others.

Also there's a lot alternative services other than google adsense like bitmedia, who almost work like adsense and already built for bitcoiners, so there is still another options for adveristing.

I had couple of years experience with web projects and adsense and if you are running some more technical oriented site (ie: blog about linux), majority (lets say 80%) using adblock by default and everywhere.

even if they don't use adblock, they had some kind of "add blindness" and there is very low possibility, that they will click on add. I had ~5k visits daily and my income from adsense for around 2-5$ per day. because you are paid for click and not for view and google is also reducing clicks by they internal mechanism all time and once again before end of month..I'm not sure if some faucets can profit in long term from any add service...but I don't think so..

i think it is only a matter of time that google bans every website that is or looks like a faucet and don't give them ads anymore.

besides what they are doing is most probably considered fraud.

I previously used Google Adsense for a crypto coin blog. After a week Google banned my account because such topics are not allowed according the TOS. So, I guess faucets are not allowed either. Report them and they will likely be banned too.

WHAT???

There are so many btc news sites that are using google ads with no problem

I even use google ads in my own btc news aggregator (it's been 2 weeks already) and so far haven't received any notice...

Are you sure about that? I can't afford to loose my adsense account. I think i should check the ToS again, line by line...

EDIT: Just read through the ToS and couldn't find anything relative...

Yes, Google banned my account. The official description was that there were some links into the posts which referred to non legal sites according the TOS. I checked all the posts and there were only links to crypto projects, BTC gambling and faucet sites. Probably it was because of the gambling links. I have not got an answer from Google support yet.

In my experience Google will review websites only just before payout time and that's when they will ban the account and not payout. Explicitly telling visitors to click on Ads is against their ToS but they will let you earn until you reach $100 and it's time for payout. I wouldn't be surprised if they have cached versions of the website they can check to see if you changed the website to hide the fact you were asking for clicks. If you are very careful and follow the ToS you can get away with having AdSense ads (like freebitco.in (http://freebitco.in) does).

oh, i see. Maybe this was the reason... gambling

because other than that i cannot find anything else that it is not allowed according to google tos.

EDIT: Fortunately i have dropped the coinurl ads (9/10 of them were gambling, faucets & ponzi schemes)

Isn't freebitco.in has gambling area? Isn't that illegal, or violate the terms?

A lot of sites for Bitcoin use Adsense and it's okay, it does not violate the rules.
Terms Adsense I learned many years ago.
My theme was that you can cheat Adsense and earn it, calling to click on ads.
Why Google robot does not block such sites?
They do not have time to keep track of all?
This can be used ...

Indeed that's completly true . really wondering about freebitco.in secret since long time ago ... weird how they are working for years and never got banned by Google Adsense.

AdSense restricts the placement of ads on gambling sites and gambling-related content. We have different policies for gambling content based on the country in which a publisher is located. Publishers outside a limited group of countries are not allowed to place ads on any gambling content or on any pages with links to gambling content. This includes any content that allows users to place bets or play games in exchange for an opportunity to earn money or other prizes.

I don't know. I warned the developer about that a long time ago in the official thread - having taking note of my warning he still managed to run with AdSense. Perhaps it's not gambling since you're not depositing? I really don't know.

Well, you CAN deposit from your own wallet to use it at the multiple section, so you can say that freebitco.in is faucet + gambling site (but the house edge is incredibly high)

Do the advertisements on faucets really bring in enough money to pay for the website + coins to send out?

They pay very very little so yes.  You would work hours and get cent's.  But they also would get cents from advertisement assuming they are successful.  I have no doubt some fail, but some do make money at it.

The ones that make money will not be sharing their secrets as it would make more competition.   I think they do cover the initial cost though.   If you open one you will not get money day one.  So it would take a little investment to see if it works. Not sure how long you would consider "test" period before you decide loss or win though.

right take the screenshot of the urging faucet which forces you to click on the ads..
i have seen lots of faucets which holds ads in iframes and refresh it on each visit means they are automatically clicked on visiting the page..
now google is not paying for such tricks but there are lots of ad company which still don't know about it and they are paying like chitika, edomz etc...

Such other ad networks you talking about, doesn't have much problems like Google does, as those other networks want their ads clicked more than Google, which is why they will let their ads run at these faucets without any bans or other problems...

Bidvertiser and Chitika are two good revenue sharing programs after Adsense... Chitika is more better than bidvertiser, and you can also go for infolinks, their PPC ratio is awesome... So, not AdSense alone is in the market, but it does have many good competitors too...
