In crypto world there are a lot of scams. We should get used to it. But for the newbie they always get tempted to go for the scams for the high return. They need some sort of hard lessons before realizing this fact.

I am from Bulgaria and I must say that I have never heard about OneCoin or that Ruja Ignatova.
I did some research on it and most of bulgarians (except some probably paid trolls) think it's a scam.

This is probably not the first. A lot of other coins have commited scams based on false promises. The Altcoins with ICO sections are also full of it.

How this is a revelation is beyond me, it's quite obvious that this is nothing more than a scheme.

Cointopay.com is the URL of some business.  I would be really surprised if its' owner was making comments like that, knowing it would hurt their business.  It looks like someone simply used their name to make comments, knowing it would make the business look bad, and this kind of slander is common place in crypto.

man this is sooo depressingly true. I remember how excited I was when I first start coming around here and getting into crpyto... it was like the first time I heard punk rock. Every day something new and exciting was going on... now, I barely venture out of one or two threads because the daily tidal wave of crap and scams is overwhelming. damnit now im bummed out.

I liked how coins started claiming they were donating / funding research for the Ebola disease when it hit the news.
Then I explained in detail how it's funded by a branch of the USA Dept Of Defense *exclusively
and the only two labs that have the permit to work on a treatment / vaccine are based in Canada and the USA.
Both working on 2 different *cures.. one needing 1 dose and includes prevention (Canada) and the other needing 2 or more doses.
and I went on and on and then asked so uhh where is the money going ?
Can you show us all proof you are donating money to the US DOD dept. ? If your not sending it there your not working on the cure.. simple.
And of course I got the run around.. scammers busted.

Hell even well known legit charities are notorious for spending only small portions of the donations they get on actual charity.
They usually spend most of it on generating more funding and padding each others pockets and the Africans get 10 cents on the dollar for water etc..

You see... I am talking about pretty serious project and I think that people here should help each other and respect their work instead making fun of it.
For example - pnoch is lead FAIL dev. I can name at least 3 developers of relatively famous coins who laughed about FAIL, but asked him for help.

It is hard to achieve something significant with being honest and work with people who are not BTC-mercenaries so in that aspect FAIL does currently look like a joke.
But this is just temporary situation.

You are very far from the truth. It was created by some anonymous guy, because of the numerous useless coins launched. We took it over with different idea. And we are not bunch of people... we are trying to be among the most honest and transparent people in here. We are bunch of let's say "virtual friends".

Btw, for the most of the people who are not buying certain coins, Litecoin for example is a shitcoin. But you see.. they are missing the most important thing in one cryptocurrency - adoption.
You can't expect DUMDUMGUMGUM coin to be adopted no matter what features has.

Crypto is like the wild west. Pretty much anything goes. Not for the Lilly liveried or faint of heart.

Everyone believes the Coins they are holding will be the grandest thing because they are holding them and working on it and want it to be worth more. What IS important is first and foremost the profitability of the Blockchain itself through it's rewards, then it's features and innovation, what you can use it for, and finally it's marketing. Never use soon™ because it doesn't mean anything, what is important is now™ and what has already been done.

This is atleast somewhat on-topic because this "onecoin" Ponzi scheme thing lacks this important factor, if they are going to be advantaging improvised children then it would be done with full transparency and just do it instead of saying it will be done.

This thread is not about our thoughts on how the things should be done. I posted here because some dutch guy insulted my home country in the comments of the article posted from the OP. But if you want my opinion then I can say you are very wrong. You put profit, features and innovations before adoption and marketing. The concept "now" does not present in any serious business and cryptocurrencies for that matter. NOW they can deliver you some features and innovations, but tomorrow people who did it will be most likely gone. What matters is tomorrow, not now. And features and innovations doesn't mean s*it if you don't have adoption and good marketing. Here are the only simple things, which you need:

1. Good idea.
2. Team with honest, dedicated and even stubborn people, which provide confidence to their "investors".
3. Strong network.
4. Marketing and adoption.

That's it.

How about technical advancement for the pursuit of profit? Depends on how you go about it, is it through lies an deception, or are you making money because you can do things other people can't do and using that to further advance the technology. Anyone saying they are in it solely for the technical advancement is lying to themselves.

I too *only got involved because of the chance of maybe making some money.
so I like to think I got into this stuff for 50% profit and 50% tech stuff or what ever.
What has worried me is when too many guys are ONLY here for the profit side.

Well I really like the tech and it is a pursuit for me to advance the tech and learn as much as I can but I also want to make profit and do this stuff fulltime and make money at it.

Maybe you aren't making millions of dollars and have less profit but then everyone can make money and that resonates. Let say someone IS in the pursuit of profit purely for their own gain through ICO's, hidden premines, scammy exchanges etc. Well on the internet you really cannot hide anything you do so eventually someone will leak the truth so your name is shot and the ones that are working hard and making a go of it would never want any association so what would be left is to either give up or continue scamming people until it blows up in your face.

If you are working for the pursuit of the tech and to make a business out of it, there is lots of room to make money especially if you can learn so much that you can become a sort of guru (I'm not a guru). If you know that much then others will come to you for advice and help and you can charge what you want depending on the complexity of the work. Nasdaq and Wallstreet are only just getting into Crypto so where are they going to get help? All the most experienced people are here, not on wallstreet, they have money and we have experience.

If you are wondering, I haven't really made any money at Crypto and spent probably $2k over the last year for help from various people. I've also helped a lot of people with problems where I could and haven't asked for money from them, even turned down some offers because I wasn't confident enough as to what I was doing (and lack of time).

Obviously you need some money to live, and more money to be comfortable. But the culture of people treating money as an end in itself needs to stop. Major corporations and the filthy rich simply hoard money like it was a stake in a shitcoin, and even though the federal government can't buy ink fast enough to print more money, 99% of it goes directly into the pockets of the 1%.

And what about the people who claim they are bringing about technological advancements but all they really do is flex their superior sales skills or ability to put clients under their mind control? This seems to be what at least 50% of all business in America is comprised of.

I think it's a bit different with Crypto though as when drawing money from a particular Coin it reduces the amount that everyone else can get out of it so I think that falls under the category of "floating all boats" and spending as little as possible. Would you be happy with receiving 50-100k a year rather than millions if it also meant that others could also make money as well? Then the question is, how do you achieve that?


You could have the best product but without good marketing then how would people be excited enough to buy the product? I'd say a business with an average product and great marketing could outperform a great product with average marketing.

what REALLY bothered me about Blocknet is Dan worked on it offline and had it 75% done
then he came here and asked us all for about $950,000 usd at the time value wise in Bitcoin (to finish the 25% etc)

But really, if you think about the average salary and what is "worth" the time and effort then I would estimate about 2k a month per person to work fulltime. 1 MILLION dollars, you could have 10 developers working fulltime for 2 years.
