Title: Windows 10
Post by: jasemoney on June 03, 2015, 05:17:15 PM
Hey folks,
I know people have issues compiling or running programs on different Apple OS's
with the update period started, has anyone upgraded to windows 10, and did it affect pre-existing altcoins your run if it affects them at all.

I was wondering the same thing, I have installed win 10 on my laptop but didn't have the chance to check how it would affect the altcoins on my PC..

I wouldn't install new system right now and I don't want to take the risk of failure of running altcoin wallets. I will wait for the reviews from other users with the new system and altcoins.

Just got in a new laptop. Upgraded to windows 10 before installing anything. Tekcoin wallet runs fine. Stakes like a champ. My question is , will i be able to run altcoin wallets on a windows 10 phone?

Windows 10 works like a virus. it steals your private data. So what does microsoft use it for?

... will i be able to run altcoin wallets on a windows 10 phone?

This depends on whether the altcoin developers get the permission of Microsoft. Microsoft and not the "owner" of the phone controls what software is permitted on a Windows 10 phone. The question is really no different from asking if one can run altcoin wallets on the telescreens in George Orwell's 1984. If Big Brother says yes, the answer is yes, if Big Brother says no, the answer is no.

Edit: On Windows 10 running on an x86/AMD64 laptop or desktop it is still possible to compile and run altcoins, without the explicit permission of Microsoft, since this version of Windows 10 is not yet fully transitioned to the Orwellian telescreen model. I have for example managed to compile and run Monero on Windows 10 as a test; however I would strongly advise against using Windows 10 or even recent Windows versions to run any crypto currency software, since this gives Windows and by extension Microsoft access to one's private keys for the crypto currency. GNU/Linux or another Free Libre Open Source Software Operating system are by far the safest options.

If you want to use w10, please be aware that it is spying on everything. So if you are an "open book" person thats fine. If you care about your privacy, than be careful and switch off most of its spying features. the best thing is to avoid w10 off course.

I have installed windows 10 and I don't have any problem, with the wallet of bitcoin installed in the computer where windows is installed. About the other altcoins I don't know what to tell because I don't have installed any wallet of those.

anybody could share it?
PS: i am still using win 7.

If you are still using Windows 7 you should know the latest updates also have sniffing software. so becareful... unfortunately I don't know which updates they are but you can try to find out and try to avoid downloading those.

No. The spying in Windows 10 can be used to defeat Tor.

Wouldn't be possible to compile it on win10 using mingw? If anything I suppose a windows user can run a VM if they needed to.

For me, it runs smoothly, better than windows 7, even on a Dual Core laptop runs fine.

And this tool is a must https://github.com/10se1ucgo/DisableWinTracking/releases

I think the best strategy would be wait a little, Windows 10 is too new system  ;) Windows 8 currently is in use for all software, so after a time Windows 10 will be more popular ;D

I think the best way would be, to ignore Microsoft and their bloated software.. there are endless forks of linux version which are even better then Windows.
if this keeps going on, there is no microsoft after some time..

Depending what you do on your PC, there is not much to learn with Linux. But to test it, better to install it in virtualbox first, and see if you like it. Also you can check many distros easily in virtualbox, before you decide to do normal installation.

I actually recomend the reverse. Run GNU/Linux as the host and run Windows in a VM. The idea is to sandbox Windows and its built in spyware, while being able to run the odd Windows only application.

Hey, guys.
I am interested to update my office 2013 to 2016.
But, do office 2016 have the privacy problems like window 10?

PS: I am still using old win 7 without any addition packs mentioned in this post.
