I got some inquiries to start another Kialara group buy, so here it is!

---

2014 Kialara: $129 (Production will stop in September).
2015 Kialara - Labyrinth: $99 (Silver or Ceramic balls).
2015 1BTC Kialara (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1084109.msg11563753#msg11563753): $199 (only 250 ever made, 20 of these have been reserved for us).

The Kialara's will be shipped for free to me, if we purchase more than 10 pieces.

NOTE: The current turnaround time for the 1BTC Kialara is 30 days, so if these are ordered it will take a bit longer to get all the coins to me.

Both are Registered mail with Track & Trace included.

Extra costs

---

• We need to pay VAT to import the Kialara's into The Netherlands, which is the largest extra cost we have (we do not have to pay import costs). It's currently at 21%.
• The disbursement fee of the used postal service (UPS charges €11.25, PostNL €13, EMS €17,50, etc.).
• The bubblewrapped envelopes. €4 for 10 pieces.

Terms

---

• The group buy won't happen if not at least 5 coins are ordered.
• The group buy will be closed, for new participants, when we hit 20 coins or when this month (June) is over.
• Once the group buy is closed for new participants the final price will be determined and split between the participants.
• Any BTC that is left over (because the package wasn't checked, the BTC value went up, etc) will be evenly distributed between the participants.
• If we are somehow short of BTC, I'll cover it up front. The amount of BTC will be evenly distributed between participants. Your package won't be sent if you don't pay your part of the debt. If you don't pay at all, your Kialara will be auctioned off to cover the cost and any leftovers are kept.
• Terms can be changed at any moment, so please keep track of them (important announcement will be posted in the thread).

Special Announcement

Kialara just made the 1BTC special edition available to the public and these can be purchased through the group buy!

2015 Kialara 1BTC Original w/ Solid Sterling Silver Mini Coin.
This is a limited supply of 250. They are buyer funded and the price is $199 a piece. The aluminum housing has been replaced with stainless steel. The edges are polished to a mirror finish. The weight is now double the 2014's weight. The four engraved plates use a higher grade of steel, and also have a mirror finish. ‘One Bitcoin’ is engraved on the front. ‘Blockr.io’ is engraved on the back. The metal retaining ring on the reverse side is better crafted with a higher grade of mirrored steel. The front holograms are new. The little coin inside is solid sterling silver. It reads 1 BTC around the circumference.

The current turnaround time is 30 days, so if these are ordered it will take a bit longer to get all the coins to me.

Great to see you making another group buy. For those who have any doubts (although there should be any) the last one I participated was extreme to easy and smooth. Mitchell organised everything to the last detail and there were no issues whatsoever. He's a great and reputable guy!

I'm thinking about the 2015 edition but I'm in two minds... I really need to stop buying coins...

Don't stop buying BTC coins, AT101ET... Not now! and buy these lovely pieces of art.

The 1BTC will probably hold a nice premium in a year or so. It's a (very) limited edition and the quality of the coins is amazing.

Will you make an exception for one international shipping order?  :) I want one of those 2015 1BTC ones. Let me know.

I believe that you can get these from kialara directly if you are in the U.S. 

My understanding that the reason for the group buy is to save on shipping costs to Europe however VAT would be charged to them which is not applicable if you buy in the U.S., so buying directly would probably be cheaper. :)

I could, but why would I? You can order them yourself on Kialara's website (http://www.maxfield.me/2015/04/). ;)

The reason I do a group buy is because you need to buy at least five Kialara's if you want them shipped outside the USA. Most people don't want five, they want one or two, so I organize a group buy and handle everything for them. Yes, there is VAT, but there isn't much you can do about it.

I'm a bit gutted there was a run of 100 gold coins that I was unaware of..

I'm guessing they are completely all gone? No chance of getting one through this group buy?  :'(  :(  ( Max held a few back for us?  :P   )

I'm on Max's page and I don't see that requirement anywhere. The minimum is only valid.... Ooooh, you don't live in the USA, correct? If so, yeah, I think I could make an exception for you.

No, it was a special sale. Certain people received a message about it and were able to purchase it.

Because of the limited supply, these 1BTC pieces were first offered (by email) to those who have purchased 5+ items from me (both domestically & internationally). The golds went quickly, and 1/2 of the silvers remain. I held onto one of the golds for Mitchell for his help with organizing these group buys.

You can order from Kialara directly if you live in the USA. If not, you'll have to purchase at least 3 or 5 Kialara's.

I haven't calculated VAT yet, as I don't know how many people will participate in this group buy. The more join, the lower the final price. The shipping price can be found in the OP.

Ha ha you're very welcome. I don't know why Kialara didn't do smaller production runs before? Perhaps he wanted to spread his love to the masses which I dont blame him at all ;D. I know coins with lower number runs fetch better money initially and greater re sale value for investors in the long term. This 250 coin run is a great idea, that's a good number I think.

EDIT: Now I've kissed arse / ass can I have number 1-10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 150, 200 or 250 please :D.

His website says that the price was $250 dollars. I read somewhere that the coin is a solid 14k coin.

The gold Kialara is indeed $249 and Max reserved one of them for me. I'll purchase it once I've got some money to spend, hahaha. I would like both of them, but then it get's pretty pricey. My GF would kill me if she knew how much I spend on this stuff. :-[

Kialara has the best physical bitcoins hands down. I want everyone to know that there are no pictures that do proper justice for this art, you have to have it held in your hand.

I agree, Kialara's are amazing and I think that every collector should have at least one of them.

It might be possible to send it for less, as I used packet prices, but the postal office will have to allow me to send it in an envelop. If they do, it will be a lot cheaper. I can't guarantee that at the moment so I used the highest relevant price. Yes, miffman, this also applies to you.

I don't think Kialara will pre-fund them as that is illegal/very risky in the US. Casascius got arrested because of it. Money laundering and all that crap.

Just tell them you want to send it by regular mail (not as a package) and it should be fine, as long as the envelop fits through a regular mailbox. I've shipping loads of things to foreign countries by regular mail and they all got delivered (so far :P).

Yes really. It might happen that we don't have to pay VAT, but we can't assume that. I'm sorry, but I have no idea how your customs work so I can't help you with that.


If you joined right now it would be ((99) + ((((7*199) + (3*99) + 4.50 + 13.50) * 0.21)/99) + (18)) = $120.62. IF my calculation is correct. When I calculate the final price it will be done using Excel, so I can't fuck up, hahaha.

The price is quite a bit more than expected. Just an idea for future group buys would be to have a rough cost of what the price per coin would be before you sign up :)

Deposit was made Wednesday morning, nothing showing on Bitstamp yet.

Sorry but there's not a lot i can do but wait until it shows.

If any trusted member in UK wants to front the BTC I can do immediate bank transfer UK to UK bank. Other than that I don't know how to speed this up. My holdings are all in coins ATM.

This is my one problem with the current BTC infrastructure (At least with UK Current Accounts).

If you have a UK bank account then head onto bittylicious and you can buy BTC using faster payments (it'll be to another UK account). I've done it a few times and received the BTC about 5 minutes after sending the transfer.
I would offer to do this but I'm not in the country at the moment. Sorry :(

Will look into for future options but new user limit is 0.13BTC. It increases over time / as you use the service but no use to me now.

I use LocalBitcoins.com (https://localbitcoins.com/buy_bitcoins) with the option "Bank transfer Portugal". You can use your own countries as option. As the seller uses same bank as my account, I get the BTC released in more or less 10 minutes.

Localbitcoins for me as well if I'm in a hurry.

Anyway, glad to see we've paid for our coins and now the waiting game :)

This is kind of a surprise to me. I expected it to arrive in late August. As people that participated in my Papersafe group buy know, I'll be in Spain from the 2th of August to the 11th. So... I'll have to find a way to best handle this. Max, I'll likely send you a new address to ship to.

Perhaps the safest thing would be to ship so they arrive around the time of your return on the 12th? If I ship around the 1st they wouldn't arrive until the 6th or 7th I imagine, so it's not that much longer of a wait for everyone.

I could handle the shipping (since I'll be using PostNL as well) so the prices won't change. I'll pay all shipping costs so you can pay me once you get back. That way nobody will have to wait :) (if everybody is fine with that of course).

All international orders are listed as artwork and shipped the same way - priority express international. I'm not familiar with vat, etc. for various countries, but I've been told by others as well that art carries smaller fees.

Good news: PostNL tried to deliver the package yesterday while I wasn't home. They will try again tomorrow, so I'll try to be home when they come by. I should be home by then. If I am, I'll be sending out the Kialara's tomorrow as well. Going to send everyone a PM for their shipping address.

Bad news: The import cost + VAT is €368,83 euro (proof (https://i.imgur.com/LjxojfG.png)), which is more than the €337,42 euro I calculated. This means that there is a chance that there won't be any leftovers/less leftovers then expected. I'll get back at this once the Kialara's are shipped.

There is, as always, some money left so just tell me where I should sent it, if you want it back. I will be contacting the customs to try and get part of the VAT back as they didn't mark it as artwork, which is strange, because it says so on the shipping bill. TheNewAnon135246's Kialara's were also marked as art, so I've asked him if he could send me his shipping and payment bills, so that I have something to proof that they made a mistake. He will do so this Saturday/Sunday, so I'll let you guys know this goes.

Ok, I already received the 3 Kilalara's and I was lucky and unlucky... The 3 are lovely, but the 2014 Kialara with silver beads has some beads at the borders of the grooves and some filings inside. I hope I will have better luck next time.

I would say that unfunded is better. Funded casascius coins are only worth something if casascius himself loaded them. I'm sure this applies to this product as well. Anyway, I keep mine unfunded and stored at a safe place. ;D

For the collectors value it's better to keep unfunded.
This art is made to be unfunded because if you want to claim the btc you have to break/destroy the kialara to retreive the sealed pv key.

What link did you send them in your original letter? His website shows a lot of his work (www.maxfield.me) and it also shows his bio (http://www.maxfield.me/about/). That should be enough to prove that his is an artist.

I sent them his website, some extra pictures and more to proof that he is an artist, but well, apparently it was not enough. As they will pay for shipment, I'm going to stuff this letter full with screenshots, links, etc. ;D

I've sent them a letter a few weeks ago, but I haven't received a response yet. I will call them later on today (was already planning on doing that).

Shit, I forgot to post that they said that they processed the letter and that is has been handed over to the customs. I requested another status update on Wednesday and they told me that they can't update me on the status of the request once it's been handed over to the customs and their processing time is three to four months, so I guess we'll have to wait it out.

They will send me the difference between 6% and 21%, which is 250.95 euro! I still have to mail them my account number, but you all will be getting money soon! ;D

I don't think that's fair as some people paid more than others, but I would have to look at my Excel sheet first (to find out how I calculated the VAT in the first place).

Yes I know, but not every Kialara has the same price. Higher price should mean more VAT. I do know that I changed the VAT calculations for round 4 as they weren't 100% correct, so, like I said, I'll have to look into that. :P
