Title: Escrow list
Post by: squall1066 on September 11, 2012, 11:07:46 AM
This is now updated, I will try and keep this list as accurate as I can, This list is sticky-linked from another thread and I would hate something to happen due to misinformation. Not very pretty but functional and in alphabetical order due to the thumbs up approach did not work.

Please keep me informed of any big things happening in case I miss a beat.

List out of date, please use this list until I can re-write.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0

Thank you.

You profited hugely off of it.

State your Reputability, and any fees you require.

Another criteria might be if the escrowed funds will be held in full, without being lent out.
Also there's no protection from the "oops I got hacked" out.   I'm not sure what that might be ... perhaps promising to hold the funds are held in an offline, cold storage wallet?  (using Armory to create the spend transaction from the online node, thus no electronic hack is possible.)

I would be willing to escrow quick/instant trades (e.g. Dwolla for btc) for free, tips accepted :) but not necessary.

Any longer term I can't offer better deals than the others, but I'd do it for 1% flat fee.  Of course escrowed funds would never be invested etc and I would be liable for any "lost/hacking" of the funds.  I've done plenty of trading on here, you can see some "rep" in my signature.

This ^^/me shakes head and sighs
I was astounded when I found out people actually do this.

I don't so much advertise as doing escrow but many people that (must) trust me have asked me to hold escrow funds for them.

I held the funds for the "unboxing BFL FPGA" bet
another bet I cant remember the details, some fiat / bitoin deals of and a lot of hardware purchases for BTC

I have set up a separate wallet in a vm on my laptop as an "escrow wallet" it does go online from time to time but is usually offline.
I give the deposit address to both sides so they can see when the coins arrive, make sure they don't move and go to the required address on completion of deal.

I don't feel "State your Reputability" is appropriate, lets face it every scammer says "trust me".

If people do their research (or already know and trust me) ie due diligence, they will get a better picture than me claiming stuff.

I ask the the parties involved in the trade make a good agreement that includes faulty hardware and what happens etc - appropriate to the trade. Without this I will not proceed, I feel my role as escrow is to facilitate a trade not as a dispute resolution service. It is also good for both parties to protect their interests and cover all possible points of dispute before commencing a trade.

I don't charge a "fee" for holding escrow, but I do ask if the users have found it to be a good and easy experience to send a little thanks back to me.
I would also rather discharge all funds and have a "thanks" sent back than hold part of the escrowed funds - this way everything is as transparent and traceable as possible.

Cheers,
Graet

Tangible Cryptography will no longer be handling escrows.   As our core business continues to grow we feel it is best to focus our resources and time on that venture and streamline our operation by discontinuing activities outside our core business.   We have asked the OP to remove our company name from the listing.

Thank You,

No problem, Taken down, Good luck with future projects.

On a side note, I did not think this was still going, I have updated the list, I know there is another list going on in the forum, but no running count, So if this keeps going I will do the "thumbs up" check so you don't have to scroll through pages to see if someone is recommended.

I do escrow for free/tips. I've had ~10 personal txs (does not include lending etc.) on this forum this year, totalling between 600 and 1000 USD. I post details in the "list of honest traders" thread for every tx I make here. Anyone may PM me about escrow. I login multiple times a day (though I had a slow spell in the fall).

Also, I can recommend Garr255 for escrow. I've used him twice, totalling 340 dollars worth of bitcoins.

I run www.bitcoinerr.com
Payments are made in less than 24h - We charge as little as 3.25% + B0.0005 per order
(That means that if you offer a job for B1 you may expect to recieve B0.9675 - B0.0005 = B0.967)

Additionally, we are starting a referral program that goes like this: You post something you're willing to do for others and spread the link all over the internet... then, if somebody reaches us (the first time) using your link, a cookie will be instaled in his system so, if he signs in within a month the 1% of his sales will go for you FOREVER .

Hope you like it! :)

I didn't understand any of that, Sound like a pyramid escrow scheme? I do not like the idea of any 3rd party cookie installed on my computer, What does this hold/track/modify? This list is for forum members offering escrow over p.m. Not to advertise businesses.

Typical referral system, but uses cookies instead of just referral URLs (so if someone visits the site using a referral link but doesn't sign up right away, the initial referrer still gets his cut if the person referred should sign up in, say, 2 weeks). The cookie would store the referring user's ID code (possibly among other things... dunno).

So let's say User A refers User B. User B looks at the service using User A's link, but isn't selling anything which'd use escrow. A week later, User B has a sale and uses bitcoinerr.com to handle escrow. Because Bitcoinerr used a cookie to store referral information, User A still gets a 1% cut, even if User B signed up going directly to bitcoinerr.com instead of say, bitcoinerr.com/UserAReferralCode. If the item costs 1BTC and the burden of paying for an escrow agent is to fall on the seller, the BTC flow would break down as follows:
*Buyer gives bitcoinerr (escrow agent) 1BTC.
*Bitcoinerr takes a .033BTC cut of that.
*Of that, Bitcoinerr gives User A (the referrer) .01BTC, now leaving Bitcoinerr with a .023BTC net gain.
*Seller receives .967BTC once the buyer releases escrow.

Referral or not, Bitcoinerr takes the same cut.

(P.S. I'm listed in OP as "Klunge")

I'll throw my name on the list, if someone needs an escrow agent.

My rep includes so many trades in the hardware section and alt currency section I've lost count.  Plenty of references available.  jduck1987, bigal, juggalodarkclow, AnonX, lightlord, liquid, Dalkore, BCB, starlightbreaker, nethead....on and on and on...

I won't charge anything, just a thanks, and maybe a tip.

I can also hold altcoins in escrow.  Even if it doesn't say I'm online, shoot me a pm.  I get that directly on my cell phone, and can see that you need me.

I didn't understand any of that, Sound like a pyramid escrow scheme? I do not like the idea of any 3rd party cookie installed on my computer, What does this hold/track/modify? This list is for forum members offering escrow over p.m. Not to advertise businesses.

The website is a place were you can advertise what you do for bitcoins. If someone is interested in your services, then he will place an order and send the bitcoins to the system. The system will hold them until you finish the work, and then when it's delivered will release them to you.
That's basically bitcoinerr.com

The referral program is a marketing program for bitcoinerr.com that allows you to earn bitcoins just for telling others what you do. Simply as that.

By the way, cookies are part of internet life. I would say that 98% of the sites you have visited have installed some cookies on your system. That's how sites remembers things like preferences, tokens.. or whatever.

That's it, and user A will get FOREVER that 1% from user B's sales.

We didn't use a referral link because our main goal was to incentive people to spread what they are willing to do.  Moreover, we think is fairer for User A this system, because you never know if user b is not going to sign in just after visiting user's A service.

I would like to thank you for your explanation, as i'm not English and i couldn't express it so good.

At some point there will be some instances where the escrow partners will need to perform dispute resolution.

Like right now, I'ld be hard pressed to know how using escrow would help a seller where the buyer makes a false claim (e.g., the buyer claims the box that arrived had a brick in it instead of the expensive item the seller had shipped out.)  How does the escrow know if the seller is not lying, or if the buyer is not lying, or both are not lying as in the scenario where the box did indeed come with only a brick, but someone at the package delivery service was responsible for the switch.   Heh, or this situation -- FedEx says it was delivered.  Buyer says it wasn't:

We know how PayPal deals with it (the seller is presumed to be guilty unless the seller has done hundreds of transactions and does not have a history of getting customer complaints).

As bitcoins start to be used for transactions involving higher dollar amounts, I can see there being the need for an escrow partner who is local and will provide the personal services sometimes necessary with certain types of transactions.  For instance, if the escrow partner personally inspects the shipment and the terms are FOB origin, for instance, the seller can be paid before waiting for the items to reach the buyer.  Or the escrow partner meets with the domain name seller and observes the transfer real-time to ensure it was assigned properly.  Or maybe provide additional services as well (e.g., visiting the seller to pick up the item because the buyer will be traveling to complete the transaction and won't arrive until after business hours.)

I came to this realization that this really is the essense of these P2P startups (AirBNB, TaskRabbit, RelayRides, etc.).  They are escrow and payment providers each for a specific niche of service provider.  Those startups get a nice cut even though the provider plus an escrow partner with no other intermediary might be a good substitute.

John and Graet escrowed my ASICMINER auction (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=142038.0) with a total of 2380BTC, which denominated in fiat at today's rate might be the largest volume escrowed so far in Bitcoin world.

You can add me to the list.

I am willing to provide escrow. For now, no fee required, but costs (such as re-mailing or bank transfer) must be reimbursed. Gratuities graciously accepted.  If it gets to be a burden and gratuities are slim, I may require a fee in the future.  I am located in the Greater Chicagoland Area (Illinois, USA).  As of the writing of this, I don't yet have any rating, but I am registered on the OTC WOT, as well as on LocalBitcoins.

EDIT:
As of January 2015, I no longer have the time available to give escrow the attention necessary to provide a quality service.  As such, until further notice, I am no longer available to handle escrow.

What is escrow? Detailed explanation or link with one would be nice ;)
An escrow agent is a highly-trusted third-party who holds money. Generally, a buyer will want escrow in low-trust situations. A seller may also prefer to deal in escrow to ensure his lack of credibility doesn't keep potential buyers away from transacting.

The buyer and seller agree to an escrow agent. The buyer sends funds to the escrow agent. The escrow agent confirms with the seller that he has the funds. The buyer sends the item to the seller. Once the item has arrived and been inspected by the buyer, he tells the escrow agent to release funds to the seller. In case of scam, the buyer is protected as escrow agents generally return funds after x days and/or x failed communication attempts with the seller.

Escrow agents also frequently act as mediators in disputes, especially in cases where there is a relatively complicated purchase agreement, or where an item arrived, but wasn't as advertised. This generally provides a much cheaper, low-time-cost solution compared to civil courts, which are largely useless unless the transactors were local and had a significant amount of money at stake.

Title: Re: Escrow list

You can add me to the list.

I will charge 0.5% for the service.

Advantages: I'm quick to respond most of the time, and I can be trusted 100%.

Please check my bitcoin-otc rating in my signature.

I'm based in Norway, but can do escrow for anyone.

In the event of any disputes, there will be discussion with both parties to determine the best course of action, and
and additional fee will be added, making the total fee 2%.

Both parties in a trade should ensure that they have their bases covered. For instance, the receiving party could
video-tape opening of a received package, so that if the seller sent a brick instead of an iphone, it could be readily
recorded.

There are always ways to scam someone when trading, so the best thing would be to ensure the counterparty has a bitcoin-otc rating that is good, and to check around for references.

If in doubt, you should ask on the forum, as there's many people that would help you. And remember the old saying: If something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

I have not conducted much business here but I do a lot of buying and selling of BTC/chips on sealswithclubs.eu, the bitcoin poker site. I am one of the most trusted members there, and if asked about me in chat any user can verify that I am trustworthy. It is a very fun chat, and I barely play any poker I just use the site to play very small amounts occasionally and to mainly buy BTC when needed using moneypak. If anyone is interested in buying BTC on there with someone else feel free to call me out in chat or PM me here to escrow the sale. I escrow for free (tips are welcomed but not required by any means) and my trust and comments on sealsdeals.info (the trust/staking page for the site) prove my trust to be pristine.

None of these is actually escrow.  It's more of a payment guarantee and dispute resolution.  Escrow is when a 3rd party - the escrow holds both the funds and the item for sale and does the exchange itself and then sends money to seller and item to buyer.  Everything else is basically Paypal with nonreversible funds because the so called escrow is basically the arbiter of disputes instead of actually being used to prevent disputes.

I am working for tips and donations with no required fee(just the transaction fee if anything), so people start trusting me. Later may raise the fee if the work becomes overbearing.

People that are interested must PM me and both agree on the terms of the deal. I'll try to respond to all request as soon as I possibly to help people trading. Any value trading is acceptable, from the smallest unit to the largest unit of anything.

Thanks.

You can check out the trust-link from the escrows. Its under their name when they post or in their profile page. There you can see the feedbacks of users that used that escrow most probably.

I really wonder what happened so that he left the community. No one knows him personally?

It's a mystery. An even bigger mystery is why he returned the forums coins but not the other escrows.

He vanished without explanation in November 2013 while holding a rather significant sum of bitcoins (more than 1,100 BTC).

He returned early in 2014 for a few hours to return most of it, but was still holding more than 100 BTC.  He remained unresponsive and offline from then until mid April.

He is now back, but his tendency to disappear for months at a time without warning, and with other people's money is a bit concerning for many people.

I understand it correctly that you want that buyer and seller provide their sigs to the escrow and the escrow releases the coins to the seller then by using his signature? Sounds like normal escrow work if im correct and if it can be done via the website. Let me know and ill test it with you if you wish.

Though theres the risk that one party isnt giving the signature and the coins cant be revived. Im not so sure if the involvement of a third party has many advantages. What i can imagine is that problems might be cleared in private without involving scam accusations a little bit better with an escrow.

Hi, Something very important has just struck me, There is no place to find a local escrow, Well there are other places but not here.
So I suggest a list, Here in services where you may come forward, If you wish to be an escrow, State your Reputability, and any fees you require.

I realize this is very important, Looking around the scam list, Everyone shakes their head saying "should have used an escrow"
But looking around I just see a few people scrambled around the forum offering this, Lets get it together.

EDIT - Thank you for generating this, I feel its important to do this, I have learned a lot, As regards to escrow holding/lending your coins, Personally I would not have my coins used in one deal for another. Many users have more info than is here, Do your homework before choosing someone, Check signature, post history, references and the like. This list is in no order. Thank you.

But didnt you say before somewhere  that you lost all your coins somehow, so there may always be an incentive for some escrowers (though not saying that you would run off with people's money, but safety is never guranteed).

Yeah my coins. I wouldn't steal though, I've had plenty of chances over the years. I got enough problems and people wishing me dead is the last thing I need.

I think it might be useful to trim that list. Im pretty sure there are many users in the list that arent active anymore. For example i checked the first 10 linked profiles. 4 of them werent in the forum since months, 2 of them werent for around a week and so on.

I think the list in the current form isnt as helpful as it once was.

@squall1066 if you dont have time to check those profiles i could help you providing a least with the last logindates of the listed escrows. Let me know if i can help.

Just to let everyone know, I am starting to do only large escrows as the small ones aren't worth my time anymore.

This would be anything above 5+ BTC

And also as a reminder to everyone, I still offer escrow services for transactions of any size.  My escrows are offered entirely free of charge, although gratuities are graciously accepted if you feel that I have provided you a valuable service.

I've got somebody wanting to do a 3 BTC bet on if his coin will be worth more than it is now.

Term would be three months (with possible early bet call).  Any takers (who have been here a long time - 3 months is eternity in cryptoverse)?

Sure.  Send me the details of the transaction, and I'll send you both an escrow agreement.

I created BTCRaven.com  a 1.8% escrow backed by a $5000 guarantee, based in Bellevue Washington, United States.

Why would anyone build an escrow website, API and all, for free?  Suspicious much?
How secure is a service that is holding your BTC free of charge for charity reasons?

My motivations are not for profiting much via the 1.8% fee collected,
but rather for the web traffic and advertising space I plan to sell within my website,
along with the traffic and advertising space of my customers using the BTC API for accepting BTC payments via my service.
(Those that opt to use advertising rather than select a fee)
Users that accept a fee will not be required to use the advertising code.

Hello. I no longer offer escrow services. No time.
Taken you off, let me know if/when you want to be added again.
Starting in on it again. Fee is 0% but there's a BTC.1 transaction value minimum (or else a pre-paid BTC.01 tip is mandatory). Thread @ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=825427.0

Any chance I could even get my thumb-up restored? :P

Thanks!

Want to avoid the mess.
My Escrow Service (MES):    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=840215.0
Some want payment first, some want merchandise first.
A third party is needed in the middle to allow for refunds!

This list is outdated and inaccurate.  I don't think it is properly maintained at all.

The list I generally recommend is:

It has rankings based on user activity and seems to be maintained and updated at least every few months (last update mid August).

I'm starting to offer escrow service.
1% or 0.1 BTC, whichever is lower.
I use a trezor device: I create a seperate account on the device for the transaction, so my coins will not be mixed with the escrow coins.

Never did escrow before (except some very small ammounts for trades IRL), but I think my trust rating will be enough to proove i'm an honest person.

if possible, add me to the list please :)

Added, I have done a quick re-list and gone through people and links, Does not look too neat right now but it accurate and functional.
I will dedicate some time to keeping this list up to date as it is linked from a stickyed thread, alot of new people will use this list and I would hate something to go wrong due to improper information.

Please keep me posted of changes in case I don't notice in time, Would like to keep the first escrow list the definitive list!  ;)

Sorry to hear, but fully understandable.
I hope you will be back when you have more time, quality of service is the exact reason that you are one of my favorite escrows.

Hello,

I would like to make your escrow list.

I've been offering FREE escrow in bitcoin-OTC for over 2 years now. Where I can be found almost any day of the week.

I'm one of the highest rated persons in the OTC-WoT ( when you add back in the 390+ points stolen from my account by one scammer )
OTC-WoT: http://b-otc.com/vrd?nick=GlooBoy

I charge ONLY when/if arbitration is needed. Donations ALWAYS welcomed - 1CAsB6DdK6ezYzefzRe3SuQ1bZztsgaiQS
Bitrated: https://www.bitrated.com/u/GlooBoy
This service is great for those who like to stay private - I won't even know you used it unless arbitration is needed.

All my feedback and ratings can be found here:
http://gpg.glooboy.com

I know I have a small count here as I don't post just to hear myself speak and to fluff my numbers, but I'm always lurking, and have been a member for 3+ years.

Thanks for your consideration.

How come that some users don't have Escrow page and they are on that escrow list ?
since OP have no time , I guess we should make another list . a trusted member should make it .

I believe there was already another thread though this thread here seems to be the oldest and is coming up all the time again for some reason.

What do you mean with escrow page? Most escrows on BCT only communicate over PM.

I started offering my escrow services to the public about 2 weeks ago: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=932294

I've successfully escrowed 3 transactions for bitcointalk members since :)

Would love to be added to the list. I charge no fees for standard escrow transactions and will even cover tx fees to make things easier. It's no big deal for me. I just want to help make trading in this community a bit safer whenever I can.

I propose escrow service for BTC and XMR. 1%, 5% of my commission go to the broker who find me a deal. My reputation thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=720839).
I already successfully escrowed twice (XMR-BTC pair). Minimum amount to escrow is a transaction of 1000 €/$ equivalent (so a 10€/$ commission for me including 50 cents I send to the broker).

User                   Fee                   Links                       Notes
David Latapie (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=81999)    1.0%                  Reputation thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=720839)   XMR or BTC. Also on IRC as davidlatapie. You find me a trade, you get 5% of my commission. Escrowing page (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vgtHE-MHMATX9qQPfwemFL6vmehx-HGTEVIeiruNiCE/edit#gid=0) (emptied after the deal, no address ever written)

You should simply chose an escrow from the list and check when he was last online. If its not too far away then you might be lucky.

I can assist with this, but keep in mind I can only provide security in terms of making sure the transaction goes through. Paypal can be charged back months later which I'm sure you're aware.

True, I don't look here to often.
Nevertheless, the thread is nice to have, to give the link for newbie users or new sellers who have not used the escrow system here before.
I find the thread very valuable because of this.

If you didnt ask for it you wont be implemented. Though its unlikely that you will at all since the thread seems not to be serviced since some time.

There was a new thread made by marcotheminer. You might search for the link. He is maintaining his list.

I will be going over this again at some point,

I am a little stuck, this list is large with lots of members shouting to be on the list (most are new with less than 100 activity)

So I need to think better about the format, I welcome any ideas.

I still like to try and keep this going, it' still a popular thread.

Title: Re: Escrow list

Maybe you could have some kind of a minimum trust score in order to be considered to be on this list.

Regardless, anyone with 100 activity and zero trade history should not be on this list and is almost certainly a scammer.

I have greater then 100 activity and I have been offering escrow services successfully for several months now. My fee is 1% with a .0075 btc minimum

maybe implement a minimum trust score, minimum activity and minimum number of good trades

For exaple
trust >= 10
member >= Senior member
trades >= 10

something like that...

So I need to think better about the format, I welcome any ideas.

I still like to try and keep this going, it' still a popular thread.

Maybe you can add them all but include a sort order. I think trust ratings, activity and so on might be good indicators to sort that list. So that you can list the least risky escrows at the start.

I don't think the list should be sorted after how much fee someone is taking. It would be too easy to get to the top for new escrows.

New escrows, especially those with little to no trust, shouldn't be considered at all for these lists. Far too many unknowns with little to no trades deciding they're qualified to hold on to other peoples funds. It's only a matter of time before one of them runs off with someones money.

Why do you post this in this thread? I think it is not the right place for noting down facts for future reference. Though you don't need to be afraid about OgNasty... he is one of the best escrows in here. And he even runs a security that he managed to remain profitable all the time. This is VERY rare in the bitcoin community.

Besides, i don't see how stating the trade here could help in any way.

Just make a thread in Services requesting an escrow but don't just use some randomer if they offer. Check their feedback history and only use them if they've got a specific escrow thread offering their service.

Hey guys, I'm offering my time to escrow transactions.  I have done a few transactions here myself.  PM me, I don't charge anything, but tips would be appreciated.  I am online pretty much all the time EST work hours and evenings/night.

Any plans by the hero members to update the escrow list? I want to sell some items but I don't know who to trust.
It seems the blockchain.info escrow is gone too.  :-\

ITO....initial token offer lol, well now people are getting quite creative hahaha.  You should do a multisig wallet with trusted escrows.  unfortunately the problem is the trusted part.

ITO = because we don't create a coin (like 1000 others do). We create a token which represent a part in our venture.
Holders of the tokens get dividends. Tokens are tradable. They are like shares. We prefer to call them tokens. Not coins.

ITO is not so new. I suggest that name to issuers since some time since Initial Coin Offering doesn't really match and everything started with IPO back then some years. Not sure if it was Project Offering back then.

A website where escrows offer their services is hard to create. Escrows would put their trust on the line though they can not make sure that the site owner doesn't at some point in time, try to change payout addresses and impersonate escrows. Till the point where it becomes public already a big damage could have happened.

In your views, I can trust this website? Because I will buy something (too expansive), I choose the option of Escrow and the seller proposed me this website. He tell me to give her the Ticket ID after i've done with escrow. I'm new on the DW and my english is not perfect so it's hard to trust somebody on this platform.

IF SOMEONE KNOW "SafePay BTC" AND TRIED IT, PLEASE TELL ME

Sorry but I became very careful with suggesting to trust some website or other escrow as long as I do not know them a long time. I only can tell you that in domain trading it happens often that scam escrow websites are used to scam the other party. I can't judge about this website you suggest because I do not have the time to check it out and even when I would have it, it would be way too intransparent to judge the risks involved.

The admin in there was getting mad at investors for asking questions because apparently he had more money invested in the coin. Investors are only thinking about their selves apparently.

I have masternode running and staking my coins, I asked him about the concern in the discord which is Why are admin and dev staking the coin? What are they doing with the funds?

After I asked he banned me from the discord. Invest Smartly.. Team is Wack

This link doesn't work.

If they still offer the service, it is time to update it or clarify that they no longer offer the service.

blockchain.info also offers escrow:

If the link doesn't work, it means they already stopped offering that service. The link which you given only lead us to bitcoin price on blockchain.
