Title: SatoshiDice - Bugs and Withdrawal issues. [RESOLVED]
Post by: ndnh on July 20, 2015, 08:17:01 AM
Total loss reported by 2 players around 70-90BTC

And as usual a totally lousy support (assuming it exists). No PM's or emails or anything replied to yet.

Probable Bug #1

Things started from here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.msg11909254#msg11909254

slacky741 couldn't withdraw his balance below a threshold of 31.17BTC, but could withdraw everything over and above that.

Probable Bug #2

Edit: Possibly hacked account. No bug involved. Not confirmed.

If there are bets that you think you didnt do my guess is someone has used your account. I did notice a few pages back you posted a screenshot which had your secret address in it. Never give this out.
Im sorry to say but i dont think you have much chance of getting this back

fk yes i see...but i have password.....if anyone here enter to my account for withdrawal need my passsword...i think... why play my 11 btc in one time? fucking idiot who enter to my account and play for loose...how much won this idiot? nothing, only give me more loose to me...now i need a new account right?

The error seems most likely another bug.

The gap between Round Initiated and Round Completed, shouldn't be more than 1-5 seconds.

But in this case it took 50 minutes for the roll to happen?  :o

(Adding that, the previous roll is numbered #27441590 coming just before the roll number of the 11 BTC bet, (ref: https://satoshidice.com/roll/27441591), further strengthens the observation.
Generally, the player does not have the time to change that bet amount and odds that fast.)

Disclosure: I am related/connected to Da Dice atm, and had managed campaign behalf of them. This has nothing to do with that.

Well after reading this post, it seems there is a flaw in their system but rather a technical one therefore we should cut them some slack and I hope they will fix it on as soon as possible basis.

Regarding how that 11 BTC roll happened, this is very alarming and intriguing case since a similar case was reported on PD thread a week ago or so? Nevertheless dice sites must take some initiatives to prevent their users from such hackings.

SD_PR posted on the thread. They merely fix the hot wallet issue (bug #1 mentioned), and that is it? They should compensate the players losses. And no word till of the second sneaky issue (bug #2 of OP).

Bug #1 have caused damages to many players of SatoshiDice who tried to withdraw, and none have been compensated as of yet.

Only 3 reported yet. (1 after they started working on it) Note that every player will not be aware of the existance of the forum and will be simply burning out their balance in desperation.

Your balance: 0.08724972

Amount to withdraw:

Insufficient hot wallet balance. The maximum available for withdrawal right now is 9.207E-5 BTC. Our technicians have been notified about this and will make more funds available from the cold storage.

I read in the other thread that the guy with the mysterious 11 BTC roll happened after he posted a screenshot showing his 'secret URL'.

It's likely someone typed it in by hand, found they couldn't withdraw the balance, and so gambled it away.

Displaying secrets on-screen isn't a great idea, especially when people post screenshots so often.

Okay, but why is the gap between round initiated and completed around 50 minutes?

Edit: Well, the reason he posted the screenshot in the first place is their fault. But, I suppose if that is indeed the case, SD has no obligation since it is negligence on the part of the player. But, a reputed site would will discuss it openly, and might even refund it in full. He also says he has lost 60BTC or so because of him thinking all the funds are already lost.

Okay, but why is the gap between round initiated and completed around 50 minutes?

I think that's the start and end time of the "streak". SatoshiDice lists bets as streaks, not individual bets.

I had thought so first. But if you check none of the other rolls in the streak show that time even though it should be part of the round.

https://satoshidice.com/roll/27452797 : part of the streak : 1 second round.

https://satoshidice.com/roll/27452810 : part of the streak : 1 second round.

Everything I checked till now got around 1 to 4 seconds, none even 1 minute. I find that strange..

I don't think the verification of the roll works either. It just throws up many strings or is that supposed to work it that way.

Hmmm, based on the number of people that are having withdrawal problems, it looks like satoshi dice went (or is going) full DaDice on us. It really is too bad considering they were really the first Bitcoin casino (afaik).

Oh boy, thanks for your comment. :)

btw, I am not aware of any withdrawal issues that were reported or didn't get resolved?
SatoshiDice has made public their cold wallet addresses. So, I guess for you, there are no issues as far as you are concerned.
Sometimes you get real annoying, lol. :P

Edit: No restrictions for casinos like the one you are advertising? Come on, mate, why are you so partial?

??? You literally just posted a withdrawal issue that has yet to be addressed in the post above mine which was reported today.

Publishing a cold storage address is not the only thing that will make a site trustworthy.

Yes, of course. It is related to the thread, and he clearly says he wasn't able to for 3 days. I am pointing to the fact that not just a few were affected because of that.
You should be going nuts all over this, if it was Da Dice, lol.

I thought, for you, that makes all the difference?? Wait.. it doesn't? But it sure makes the certain site a scam right? :P

A good development.

We are really sorry for the lack of support those weeks but i can assure you that from now on there will be daily checkup(SD Email and SD Official Thread here)

This guy: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=520402 is handling things well till now. :)

slacky741 has been trying his best to get the attention of the Support, so no way I am going to lock this thread before something is done. I appreciate his attitude (and the long detailed posts). :D

Well this shows us once again that you are nothing more than a damn cheap troll!

Infact a scumbag :D

dadice never had any issues like this, we never had complaints about withdrawals that were not processed or other fishy things, like SD has now.

The only thing we did not reveal was a cold wallet address on request of our largest investor, which was documented and confirmed by mods not employed by dadice. But even your evil attempts didn't bring us down - on the contrary. We are doing much better now than two months ago, when you've started your dirty smear campaign, after receiving more than 1 BTC from our signature campaign.

Such things are called hypocrisy!

EDIT: By the way, why are you now promoting a Casino that does not even have a RNG certificate which is industry standard for white label casinos, like 7Bitcasino.com. Secondly, is there a cold wallet address that proves that 7Bitcasino.com has indeed 3,775 bitcoins for its jackpot? That would be nice to see.... Can you ask them to provide such a cold wallet address?

Other issues reported yet.

my account balance is not updated, I wrote in support of Satoshi Dice 3 days ago :-\

(relates to SatoshiCircle, not SatoshiDice):
OP, I can't withdraw my money from SatoshiCircle website! I deposit 1 BTC, played one time, and then nothing happens when I click roll or withdraw, after that I tried to deposit more money, 0.12 BTC, and balance is not updated, but transaction has more than 10 confirmations!

A few accounts who had issues and reported in the forum have got their balance synced. But no losses, etc. have been compensated, in full nor in part.
PR checks in nearly around every 10 days or so.

This account as observed belongs to someone from SatoshiDice. : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=520402
PMing him might help for sync/wallet/balance/withdrawal issues.

The actual impact of the bugs is not yet known. Around 90BTC affected, around 5 players reported here from mid-July.

Note to players.
1. If there is some withdrawal issue, stop playing. There is low chance that you will be compensated (check the thread) in case you lose it. So best, wait it out.
2. Posting in the thread is usually more quickly resolved than an email for SatoshiDice. Do both.
3. When you post screenshots (if you do), please make sure the secret url is not visible anywhere on it.
4. Protect withdrawals with a password.
5. If you need liquidity of your funds, keep out.

Hello, Slacky! Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse any kind of bets as it was not the bets that was malfunctioning, it was a temporary problem with the withdrawal function on the site. A bet that is wagered is a bet that is wagered. You don't get back funds that you lost (You could have won!)

We're very sorry for this and we're doing our best to make sure its not going to happen again. However, since you had to wait so long and had such a bad experience at our site, we have decided to give you a bonus of 6.1 BTC without any restrictions - again, this has nothing to do with the messages you have been writing about, this is simply a high roller bonus. We do give those once in a while to all high rollers. We hope you will not have a bad experience at satoshidice.com again.

So, one of the players got compensated for the loss, and he is now breakeven with SatoshiDice (though he had made a lot of profit before the bug).
His case is fully settled.

They still need to fix certain other things, but the purpose of the thread is done. :)

Locking it for now. :)
