I disagree, I think there is really strong support in the low 280's.  I could be wrong but I see it staying in this range for a while then heading above 300.

290 is the new lower border.

We are at a very solid 280 price for a while now (now 282) and we are coming from a 220 price not a while ago. How in the hell would 270 be a crash? is now 200 too far for you to predict?

My trading strategy worked well for the past month of testing and since a few days I am seeing an overall uptrend. Keeping my few coins in BTC for the time being.

I sold all my coins when fart said to.  So I can't pay with his preferred method of bitcoin.  I just need a address to send him a check.

Ok, it's really not a "crash" but it came all the way down to 270'ish and now it's sitting at around 282. If you bought at 299 or higher, I'm really sorry, should've listened to people like me. On the bright side, it will go up again and then come down AGAIN.

btw price points shouldnt be seen as a daily thing, it should be a 1 time per week thing to stress less. I`m not even considering it 1 time per month..

Only a few knew what was going on for that crash, hence being a crash. As for any other crash, I dont see a huge player like an exchange crashing anytime soon.. unless something else drastically happens..

BTCE is a walking zombie, in my view. Any, or all, of the Chinese exchanges seem a bit shady, and they are highly subjective to the whims of their master, the Chinese Communist Party. Many, if not all, of the altcoin exchanges seem a bit shady as well. Best to keep your coins in your own wallet.

I dont think that dude is talking about btc-e but thats another shady exchange I would stay away from.

If you go on coindesk in their archive blog posts keyword btc-e theres so many bad stories about them.. and as for the chinese part. Theres plenty of the debate either if china really banned bitcoin or not..

No, I wasn't talking about whether the Chinese Communist Party really banned btc in China or not. It's immaterial since we all agree that it's almost impossible for Chinese in China to exchange bitcoins to RMB and vice versa. It's a de facto ban by their gov't.

Rather, I was talking about the Chinese cryptocurrency exchanges like Huobi and Okcoin. They are shady and not transparent at all. They may be walking zombies, minutes from implosion.

crash It was 250 , but recovery and stability around $300.  now is very stable around $280-290, and then the next growth spurt begins.  $1000 bitcoins at the end of 2016

The 280-300 territory is definitely a big consolidation now. I don't discard a certain correction tho, it could happen if ETH gets a good pump and some exchange it for ETH to try to benefit from it before the ICO holders dump ETH and crash it. We'll be back to 300+ eventually tho.

Just broke below the 280 resistance again. Slippery slope is getting stronger. We may be looking to slide down to 240 again sooner than expected.

i don't think it will drop $240. It may go down by $260 (weekend) and then it will start to increase.

Since the Jan 2015 low of $152 bitcoin price has made higher highs and higher lows. Price is now above the 200 day SMA and the slope is now positive. Bitcoin was trading at ~ $230 three months ago and is now up 20% at ~ $277. Do you prefer wild swings in price or a steady up trend?

Looks like 260 is the new 280. Will we go up or down? That is the question. From the January's low of 157 to the recent high of 315, btc price seems to be stuck at the pattern of lurching forward and jumping back down again. It's indicative of pump'n dump activities as well as market manipulations by the whales and other malfeasant creatures. There's nothing good about the whole situation, in fact the whole cryptocurrency thing reeks of cancer. Not to mention the scammers, drug dealers, child pornagraphers and terrorirsts who have carved out a market for btc for their nefarious activities.

Even me, I` delusional at times too, but its just a matter of seeing the reality that they dont want to admit. The future is always uncertain, but we can only predict possible scenarios whats given to us.

And just prepare for the worst. The scenario of price tho, in my view lowest would be $100ish, and thats if our transactions were to slow down based on forks or other technical things.

Bitcoin is going through pump and dumps, which I say is the result of both supporters and detractors of Bitcoin. There is a steady increase in the price of bitcoin since the crash in January and it continues to climb. It will have reached $1000 by the end of next year.

I gotta admit that I'm delusional too, but as I see it in the current situation, there is a little possibility that we will go downwards from here, but still there is that possibility and we cannot remove that. Bitcoin market is one crazy market: very unpredictable and rapidly-changing, fast-paced and full of manipulators. With that said, almost anything could happen, even if it is deemed nearly impossible to take place. 2 digits would be out of the picture years from now, but the possibility of touching $100 levels is there, if the transition of qt-xt might happen. People might get confused from there, which might affect the price.

It's a natural occurrence. In my opinion, it is just the whales trying to shake-off the buying side in order to test its stability. Just my opinion.

When I started this post, I wanted to show off the fact that even though btc was climbinb in price at the time, it was inevitable that btc would crumble back down in price. I was proven right as the price has come down from 315 to 265. Don't you see how prophetic this post is? I am thinking this post will live in fame forever!!!

That would be your personal opinion, some would think the bitcoin at its current cost is underpriced. Usage of bitcoin has increased, and there's much more substance to the fundamentals now

It is not appropriate to compare a piano falling from a window and bitcoin's price. Well, there isn't much of a prediction needed to know whether a piano will fall or not, because it is already known due to gravity. In the case of bitcoin, a downward trend doesn't define much except for a falling price, but as long as there is a demand for it, do you think the curve will still continue going downward? I like the analogy that you created, but that's just inappropriate.

Annd we are back to 270. Moral of the story: Hold and wait for 10 years, stop mentally masturbating about the price manipulation, the technology is extremely valuable regardless price fluctuations. Hold long term and win is all that matters, if you act by constant price movements you will never be able to sleep at night.

I believe we could see as low as 200 in the near future due to the XT issue but it will be short lived. I'd be VERY surprised if went down anywhere near 200 honestly.

i think we might see low $200 level as well. it will be a great buying opportunity for sure. the amount of xt nodes is still growing and has now more than 10% coverage.

I only see this with the whole panic with bitcoins date slowly coming to split.

And the fact that we all agree on it to be split would be having on people who use desktop wallets will see a huge difference in delayed time.

If the market reacts to bitfnext constant sell off, then I would assume more would sell.

And then just know they are going to buy back in when its way cheaper to buy.

easier said than done. we don't know what the bottom is. usually other exchanges follow what bitfinex does, but not this time. bitfinex went below $170 where other exchanges didn't go below $220. that shows that some one or maybe a group was heavily manipulating bitfinex price.

If it goes below 200 on all the exchanges, I think we are looking at the next big step down to 100-150. We haven't had a big step down since Jan-Feb, when it went from 330 down to 200. Since then it has been mainly in the 200-300 range.
The lesson from last year is that the big steps down occur when the price goes below the previous low, which in the current case is 200. When the price goes below the previous low, many people panic sell, thinking the end is nigh, and hence the next big step down occurs. The price never really recovers afterwards.
See, for example, the recent high of 320ish. It was still below the previous step level, which was north of 330 (in Dec 2014).

So my prediction is that in the next few days it will go below 200, and then, very rapidly (ie before the end of this month), the next big step down will occur, to USD 100-150 range. There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

There's still a long way down. There's a big chance that 200$ will still act like a hard-to-pass barrier. It wouldn't be the first time.

"Long way down", dropping from 250 to sub 230 took about an hour. Nevertheless, I'm with you saying that (hopefully) the 200$ barrier is strong.

I think Mike Hearn needs to take some heat for this flash crash. Markets hate uncertain times and Bitcoin XT primed the pump for the flash crash at Bitfinex yesterday which was due to margin calls then follow the leader dumping by scared spectators. As long as the possibility of a hard fork is in the news expect volatility.

That crash i think nobody wanted to happen, anyway i think is the best time to buy as the bitcoin price is growing a bit.
Meanwhile i read an article in coindesk "Bitcoin's price fell 14% in a period of just 30 minutes following a 'flash crash' on exchange Bitfinex yesterday night."

There's too much Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt in the market right now.

I don't think the price of bitcoin is ever going to sink below $200 again. We have seen the price stay above this mark for some time now. As I keep reiterating, bitcoin is a new technology with lots of new potential. Once an innovated application is developed from the blockchain technology, we will see a big change in price.

I never really question that there is a real bottom, unless it did hit $2 range for a horrific reason. But its based on the persons choice of really what they feel is cheap then hoping and waiting for it.

Most people dont see it that way, people just react to see whats in front of them which is the "now".

Rather then the baby steps, and its already proven that ever since the last huge crash when mt.gox did their manipulation it still recovered to the real price most people feel.
