Title: Blockchain "Authorization required . Please check your e-mail ."
Post by: blockchainproblem on August 04, 2015, 04:50:00 PM
Everytime I want to login to my blockchain Account I get the message "Authorization required . Please check your e-mail ."
Currently I have no problems with this.

But Iam afraid that I cannot login to my blockchain account again if my free-email provider gets bankrupt or delete my email.
Often some email-provider delete email accounts if users are not active for 30 days.

So how can i disable that security feature?

Log in, and enter your account settings. You will then be able to disable this verification, or use 2FA instead (no reliance on an external service if you use Google Authenticator)

And where exactly can I found this in the settings?

Its not possible to delete the email if the account is already confirmed.

I do not have a static ip.
In my country its normal to have a dynamic ip every time I go online again.

So I get this annoying  message every time.

Save your private keys on paper, and store that safe :)

If you do so, you will be able to access your coins even if blockchain.com is offline :)

Just disable it explicitly. This has nothing to do with IP addresses, as I'm also using a dynamic IP, as well as multiple IPs and multiple locations. Account settings->security, set two-factor authentication to 'google authenticator' rather than 'email', and set it up for 2 factor with your smartphone.

You can also set it to 'none', but you lose security (meaning that you are at risk of losing coins, and it is kind of your fault in that case due to lack of two-factor).

Additionally, make a secure paper backup, keep it safe, and don't let it get lost or stolen.

Enable cookie on your browser or add blockchain.info to your cookie whitelist. When your browser is authorised once, it will be stay authorised until you clear the cookie. Dynamic IP does not matter.

Backup your wallet regularly. When you are locked out, you can restore your wallet from backup.

Just change your 2FA setting, this tutorial how to change the setting: http://blog.blockchain.com/2014/04/17/what-is-two-factor-authentication-and-how-to-use-it-on-your-blockchain-info-wallet/

Yes, it's a problem. I had this too with different accounts i created for other persons. The fun was that the email i sat up did not receive any emails from blockchain.info anymore. They did before but not then anymore. And they weren't even in spamfolder.

I will not use blockchain.info again. It's too much of a hassle.

The best solution would be to stay away from online wallets.

Second best would be to backup your private keys by exporting them.

You're worried about that in future the email account might get close or your email service provider closes the site etc. but what happens if in future you're not able to access blockchain.info, why don't you take some time and read on about desktop wallets such as Electrum, they're not difficult to set up and you have full control of your funds, if you're on mobile you can use Mycelium which again gives you complete control. A lot of people have lost money they kept on online wallets, so move your funds and keep them where you're the only one who knows the private keys.

If free mail site delete your account associated with blockchain.info then you can really get out of the control of your wallet ,
Suggestions:Disable 2F verification , save the private keys on a paper wallet so when Blockchain is off you still can control over Your coins , meanwhile if you can access your wallet now , i suggest you to move your coins to some dekstop wallets like multibit this ensures you that you are responsible for whatever thing happen to your coins , it wont hurt much , but if you lost coins in blockchain.info because you cant access your wallet it will be hard to Forget.

this, or use reliable email that won't go away (gmail)

No, never disable 2FA for a web accessible wallet. Use a secure and reliable 2fa system such as Google Authenticator, where your 2fa OTP key is stored on your device.

The wallet can be recreated from the backups they send you without 2FA.  The 2FA is only on there website and not on the private keys they send you for backups.

The question is how many took those emails and saved down the documents or mnemonic keyphrase. When you lose access to your email, for whatever reason, then these things are gone too.

Sadly most internet users don't have a clue about security.

the problem you are describing is a good feature of blockchain.info and is called 2 factor authentication
if you are afraid of your email provider move to some popular and more reliable ones like gmail and dont forget to set a strong password for your email.
also email is not the only option you have, you can choose SMS and receive the 2fa code via your cell phone instead of email

2FA over email and/or SMS isn't as secure as it could be. In the case of email, it's not really two-factor (knowledge and possession), but two of the same factor (knowledge). SMS isn't necessarily secure in all cases. Use an OTP token such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or a Yubikey.

i can see what you mean about Email not being that safe and i forgot about the Google Authenticator,...
but what about SMS, why do you think it is not secure in all cases? unless my phone is stolen it is as safe as it can be.

No, there are possible attacks on cellular encryption. Additionally, it creates useless reliance on multiple third parties. I would just use Authenticator, for this reason and others, including the fact that outages or loss of service/contract loses.
