Title: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: EvilDave on September 16, 2015, 08:41:18 PM This redemption process is closed as of 8 November 2015.
If you still have NAUT that you want to redeem to the new NXTNAUT: https://www.drachmae.exchange/ ********************************************************************************* Guys/girls/undecided: Following on from this press release from Brian Kelly, creator of Nautiluscoin: Update on the Nautiluscoin Project (http://static1.squarespace.com/static/53593f0be4b0c3ad738404f5/t/55f83196e4b06e00341597ba/1442328982047/Nautiluscoin+Project+September+15+2015+Press+Release.pdf) ^^click here, full PDF of Press Release^^ This thread will explain the entire redemption process to magically transform 'old' PoW NautilusCoin (NAUT from now on) into the 'new' Nxt Monetary System-based Nautilus currency (NXTNAUT): https://nxtportal.org/currencies/18154834130337484019 The transfer will be on a 1 to 1 basis: so one old NAUT gets you one new NXTNAUT. As part of the Drachmae project, there will be a dedicated exchange for the NXTNAUT MS currency, this will go live on the 26th September and allow both redemption of NAUT and trading with NXTNAUT. However, Brain Kelly and the Drachmae team would like to offer a method to redeem Nautiluscoin for Nautilus before then, so they've asked the NXT Foundation to organise and escrow a transfer system, to allow the Nautiluscoin community to get in early. NXT Foundation is a non-profit group, set up by five early Nxt adopters, to both provide support to the overall decentralised Nxt eco-system, and to act as a point of contact for businesses and external projects: http://nxtfoundation.org/ As for me, I’m Dave ‘EvilDave’ Pearce, you can check out my profile here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=174118 I’m a founding member of the NXT Foundation, and not completely evil. Enough introduction, this is what you need to do: Step One: get your clients installed and running. You will need a Nautiluscoin client, available here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=591114.0 As NAUT is derived from BTC, set-up and configuration should be pretty simple, but you may need to add nodes to nautiluscoin.conf: Code: addnode=146.0.32.101 Any questions/support needed, just ask here or on the main Nautiluscoin thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=591114.0 You will also need a Nxt NRS client, available here: https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-5-15/ The latest production build is 1.5.15, the .jar version works on any platform with Java, (Win, Linux, Mac), the .exe is a code-signed one-click Windows installer. As Nxt is completely new code, some of you may not be familiar with it. ;) There are a couple of good quickstart guides available: http://nxter.org/nxt-tutorials/ http://nxter.org/nxt-nrs-installation-guide/ http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Nxt_client_interface For Mac users, check this out: https://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/How-To:InstallNRSMacOS If you have any issues, ask for help here, or on the Nxt Forum: www.nxtforum.org We’ve set up a dedicated Nautilus sub-forum, so feel free to come on over. https://nxtforum.org/nxtnaut/ And, just in case, here is the Nxt Wiki: http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Main_Page Step two: organise your accounts. For this phase of the Nautiluscoin redemption, we are only accepting coins sent from the client. No transfers from exchanges, please. Firstly make sure that you have your NAUT balance on your Nautiluscoin wallet, obviously enough. Set up a Nxt account using your freshly installed NRS client, and: MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE A SECURE PASSPHRASE: NXT password information (https://nxtforum.org/introduce-yourself/warning!-please-read-before-making-your-nxt-account!-%28please-sticky%29/) This point is very important, as Nxt uses a brainwallet system. If in doubt, allow the Nxt NRS client to generate a passphrase for you. Do not, for the love of whatever you care about, use a phrase that has ever appeared in any media, anywhere. So no songs, poems, movie lines, book quotes or BTC addresses, among others. If you have any further questions, ask here or on the Nxt Forum. Step three: Send your NAUT for redemption. Run both clients, and log in to your Nxt account. From the Nautiluscoin client, send the desired amount of NAUT to the redemption address: Code: NPAXpEt1VPKsFh9KAGExxvp76cj3v1DFMQ The important bit: find your NAUT transaction ID, Go to the Transactions tab in the Nautiluscoin client, and open the transaction details. Transaction ID is there. Make a very careful note of it!! Then take a screenshot of both clients: http://i58.tinypic.com/2dbtj44.jpg Note that the screenshot MUST show both the transaction details from the NAUT transfer and the Nxt account on which you wish to receive your NXTNAUT. (purple boxes) Step four: generate a Nxt authentication token to prove ownership of your Nxt account. In the Nxt client, go to the Settings menu (purple box in the screenshot below) and choose 'Generate Token'. In the data field, fill in your name or BitcoinTalk ID, your Nxt address, amount of old NAUT sent, and the transaction ID from the NAUT client. Enter your Nxt account passphrase to generate the token: http://i58.tinypic.com/6rsqpi.jpg Step five: submit your transaction ID and account information. Copy both the entire data field message and the generated Nxt authentication token, then send them to me, together with the screenshot (or a link to the screenshot) of both clients. You can send either a PM to me on BitcoinTalk or a mail to dave(at)nxtfoundation.org. Your message should include all of this information: Quote EvilDave NXT-3T2W-6HXY-UGUL-BS85F ff51feed19eb5ceef561195e12a40fd89f9a0f7e2ed702d80f7e9f755b9a6c59-000 25 NAUT r5n35fga98rhhl3ussof4fsnkm9v423eo0r4qqc3oul5c2tqcsvdgj50tm8apng35pdgr8ei12h64v5 uedd6hh41cuc2oq40lmk4gb3v5uk0vf71lnag8qobmdqbas1f17l2ob05u3d3c2j8h8r6s8oma072hn r4 That’s it, sit back and wait for your Nautilus…. Once we've checked out the transfer, we'll send out new, shiny Monetary System Nautilus to your Nxt account. The verification and transfer process will take at least 24 hours, but hopefully no more than 48. We will try to deal with redemption transfers on a 'first come, first served' basis, but larger amounts WILL be prioritised. For holders of small NAUT balances, and people who only have NAUT on exchanges and don't want to run the full client: the official Drachmae exchange will be up inside a week or two, and will offer an automated redemption system for NAUT > NXTNAUT on the exchange itself. Please note that this thread is intended to be a place to get some work done, not a place to debate. That's why it's self-moderated. If you have any philosophical/emotional/etc issues with Nautiluscoin, or Nxt, or anything not related to the NAUT>NXTNAUT redemption process, please take it to the main Nautiluscoin thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=591114.0 I'll be cutting out useless posts from this thread, with the intention of keeping it clear and on-topic. So don't say I didn't warn you..... To verify my identity/account control, heres the authentication token for the Special Projects account (NXT-3T2W-6HXY-UGUL-BS85F) that will be handling part of the redemption process.: Data: Code: EvilDave 16/09/2015 NAUT2NXTNAUT redemption. Post by: EvilDave on September 16, 2015, 08:47:27 PM The TL:DR version:
Sort clients out, Nautiluscoin and Nxt. Fund wallet/create account (PASSPHRASE!) Send old NAUT, take screenshot. Verfy Nxt account is yours. Send the information. Sit back and relax..... FAQ Q: Why did you change the OP to read NAUT and NXTNAUT instead of the original OLDNAUT/NEWNAUT ? A: NAUT/NXTNAUT was the original idea, and I think now that it works better. NXTNAUT is not the official name (which is Nautilus), but just a placeholder to use in this thread. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: EvilDave on September 16, 2015, 11:04:00 PM True....there's a list of stuff to do.
But the exchange will also need to verify the same information for the redemption/sign up process, this gives NAUT holders a way to get NXTNAUT now, and to make sure that they have a sorted Nxt account for secure storage of their shiny new coins. Evildave Thanks for the instructions! I have one question though.. At this very moment I am on vacation with no access to my home pc, only tablet and phone access and will be returning the 25th of September. Currently my naut is all on bittrex. What do you suggest? Wait for the exchange, or perform the suggested conversion on the 25th? I am a holder of a decent amount of naut. Thanks for your support. And I agree that there's no way anyone can control a selloff. If it happens then it's gonna happen. This community really does need to get behind this airdrop so we can make it a community project and not just a BK/Lee project. I'll donate 1,000 NAUT to the airdrop. What do you mean that any dumping won't be from the airdrop but rather from current community members. I mean, if the airdrop is say 1 million NAUT then I imagine a lot of those coins will be sold right away. Is this not the case, will there be some hold put on the airdropped coins? Thanks for the clarification. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: EvilDave on September 21, 2015, 02:55:47 PM what about for those that dont want NXT based naut? Hate to sound unsympathetic, but: Brian Kelly is the developer/creator/backer of the Nautiluscoin project, and he wants to move NAUT over to the Nxt MS system. In the absence of any community-based development or initiatives for NAUT, this makes BK the overall project leader. Holders of the 'old' PoW based NAUT are completely free to refuse the swap, but only the new NXTNAUT will be used in the Drachmae project and further developments, so any holdouts will find themselves with 'old' Nautiluscoin that no longer has any form of support from BK or the Drachmae project. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: EvilDave on September 23, 2015, 10:55:34 PM Just made the NXTNAUT transfers for tonight, as usual you can see them here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1182317.msg12441796#msg12441796 On account security: just make sure you use a good passphrase, the default passphrase generator used in the Nxt NRS client is secure. As Nxt uses a brain wallet, password security is the only thing you have to worry about. There are no local wallet files that can be lost or stolen. Watch out for keyloggers and Trojans, think about using a secure password manager like Keepass: http://keepass.info/ Lastly: some of you may have noticed that a mysterious (and very small) amount of NXT has appeared on your account. If this happened to you, use some of it to make an outgoing transaction (like setting an account name). Your first outgoing transaction publishes your account on the Nxt blockchain and increases its security. This is a public service announcement from: http://nxtfoundation.org/ Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. I guess you mean like, we send our NAUTs to our accounts on Bittrex as storing old chain NAUT and we can convert NAUT to NXTNAUT easily within the bittrex exchange? Wow, that will automate things a lot! And privacy concerns will be disregarded! And of course will make bittrex my fav :D Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: richiela on September 25, 2015, 05:09:49 PM As ever, I've done the payouts for tonight: 100% agree... do not use us as an online wallet ;) This is just a short term solution to have to help the conversion process as people get their NXT wallets online...https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1182317.msg12441796#msg12441796 @Richie: not a bad idea. There are a couple of NAUT holders that might benefit from that offer, though I have to point out that people really, really shouldn't store all of their funds on centralised exchanges..... 8) Let's get together and discuss it sometime Friday. If/when we do set a cut-off date, it will be announced in big letters here as far in advance as possible. BUT: bear in mind that as more NAUT gets redeemed to NXTNAUT, the network support for NAUT will start to drop off, making transfers tricky. so I have old NAUT's at Cryptsy. I have read in this tread that Cryptsy as of yet haven't done the conversion. I am not technical guy so what should I do. Just wait until Cryptsy has convert my old NAUT's to The NEXTNAUT's? Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: Vlad2Vlad on September 30, 2015, 04:23:03 PM Any update on bittrex doing another swap for us ? That would be really great indeed ! How can Bittrex do another swap when they've already swapped all the NAUT on their exchange? You can't send any old NAUT to bittrex so therefore there is nothing more Bittrex can do as far as swapping out into new NXTNAUT. That's how I understand it but I'm no techie. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: EvilDave on October 03, 2015, 08:19:27 AM Good question....when all the NAUT have been redeemed is the answer, in theory.
So far, just over 3.5 million NAUT have been converted to NXTNAUT, from an original supply of 5.3 million. This leaves around 1.8 million NAUT still out there, and I know the locations/holders of around 1 million of that (i think). A lot of NAUT went down with MintPal, so that will probably never be recoverable. Here's the block explorer and rich list, the top 3 accounts are under my control: http://naut.blockexp.info/richlist There are currently 3 main exchanges on board with Nautilus, and the Drachmae projects native exchange is coming soon, so I'm fairly sure that there will be ways to redeem old NAUT to NXTNAUT for a while longer. However, as all economic activity will be on NXTNAUT, the NAUT network will lose support and transfers may become difficult. I'm committed to running this redemption program for a week or 2/3 longer, in any case. Like I said earlier, we'll announce any cut-off date for swaps far in advance. TL,DR: not yet ;) Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. I've just updated the OP, there are still a few redemption transfers comng in, we are now at 3,657,952 NAUT redeemed. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: BitcoinNational on October 08, 2015, 11:45:43 AM "3,657,952 NAUT redeemed"
what happens to those coins? --- also is there a time limit on converting NAUT to nxtNAUT? (ballpark it if yes but no official fixed date) Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: EvilDave on October 08, 2015, 01:20:34 PM The 'old' PoW NAUT is dead as a dead thing, except as a means of getting NXTNAUT
The redeemed coins are currently locked in the redemption wallet, and that is where they are staying. I might throw the wallet away completely when redemption ends, old NAUT will be essentially valueless then. There will be a cut-off point for NAUT redemption. I can't give you a precise time, but there will be plenty of warnings well in advance. (and we're not completely heartless: turn up with a good story and some valid NAUT after the cut-off, and we will try to help, but no guarantees) The cut-off date for the manual redemption process is when the new exchange opens, say within 2-3 weeks. Redemption will then be possible only via the Drachmae exchange. The cut-off date for redemption through the exchange will probably be set by technical issues. As hashrate drops on the old NAUT network, transfers will become more difficult and exploits easier. The redemption will have to stop once that happens. So my ballpark figure for a cut-off date is 6-10 weeks. (very, very ballpark) EDIT: just did the transfers for tonight, current total NAUT redeemed is now almost (almost) 4 million : 3,934,894 Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: EvilDave on October 22, 2015, 11:48:35 PM Yay! We just hit the 4 million NAUT mark: 4,004,694 to be precise.

Post by: EvilDave on October 29, 2015, 06:51:17 PM With perfect timing (thanks, BitcoinNational), I've just heard today that the Drachmae exchange is fully live for NAUT exchanges:
https://www.drachmae.exchange/ I'll keep this manual redemption process open for the next 8 days, so my cut-off point will be Friday 6 November at midnight CET. If anyone wants to get their NAUT exchanged to NXTNAUT through me, get your NAUT moving now..... As far as the health of the NAUT network is concerned, I'm not going to make any predictions. I expect that there will still be enough hashrate on the old Nautilus blockchain to make transfers for another month or 2, maybe longer, but I can't give any guarantees on that. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: khyper on October 31, 2015, 10:04:11 PM To Those Who Recently Opened A Drachmae Exchange Account: How long did it take Drachmae to verify your new account so you could use it? Their press release says 24 hrs, but it's been over 48 hrs so far for me. I understand they're busy, just wondering when to assume there's a problem, and I'm eager to get my oldnaut out of Cryptsy.
11/1/15 update: my account was verified in under 72 hrs. 2nd update: been trying to send ALL my oldnaut from cryptsy to drachmae. Twice I've gotten a confirmation email saying my total balance will be withdrawn, but then only half that amount actually goes to drachmae. Anybody else having this issue? I opened a help ticket with cryptsy. Response from Cryptsy: "...We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you. It appears that our wallet has many inputs built up in NAUT so the withdrawals get chopped to a size that is able to fit into the block chain. I have informed our wallet specialist who will begin to merge inputs on NAUT this way the withdrawals will no longer be chopped in half to fit into a block. ..." Yes, any old PoW coins deposited to Drachmae will be converted into new Naut-X automatically. I have a few thousand Naut, just transferred from Cryptsy to Drachmae. Now showing up in my account as Naut-L. What happens now? Also, what is the correct wallet to download for the new coins? Cheers, Roister01 Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: EvilDave on November 10, 2015, 11:00:59 AM Once your old NAUT (Naut-L, for Legacy) is on Drachmae, you are good.
EDIT: Once the swap has been carried out, see post below. As the new Naut-X is a Nxt-based Monetary System currency, you will need a Nxt wallet to recieve and store it. See here for Nxt wallet install info and download: https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-6-2/ Just to remind everyone: This redemption thread is already closed, and the Drachmae exchange will stop redeeming the old Naut-L on Friday. If you still have fat stacks of Naut-L, but cannot redeem it for whatever reason (like Cryptsy issues) get in touch with me, and I'll see what can be done to help out. Just do it before Friday, Ok ? EDIT:There will be a short extension to the redemption period, again, see below. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: EvilDave on November 13, 2015, 02:50:44 PM Quote Redemption period: As originally announced 13th November 00:00 GMT was intended to be the the cut off point for redemption of the old Nautilus Proof of Work currency, but considering the situation with Cryptsy withdrawals it has been decided to keep it open for a few extra days, to allow people some extra time to get their Nautilus out. Drachmae project: For clarification: the Drachmae brand was created and set up by Lee Grant and Nick Grove for Coinstructors, but the exchange was funded for Nautilus coin by Brian Kelly. The Drachmae exchange platform itself is not owned by Coinstructors. Drachmae itself ran a proof of concept (POC) user case that was deployed on Agistri to further understand how adoption and user experience with crypto currency would work in the real world, this was also set-up and managed by Coinstructors. Drachmae exchange: At this moment, there are delays with getting the legal requirements for the Drachmae exchange organised, therefore currency trading on the exchange has been disabled until further notice. For the time being Drachmae exchange will continue to be used as a simple online storage/wallet for Nautilus for those who wish to store and redeem their Nautilus coin there. Next week will see the start of the swap on Drachmae exchange, transferring the old 'Nautilus-L' coin to the new Nxt-based 'Nautilus-X' currency. This will be done automatically on the exchange from the 18th November onwards. This redemption process has ended. The best advice I can give is to get your bud to get his 'old' NAUT on to his desktop client, and then sign up for the still open redemption on the Drachmae exchange: https://www.drachmae.exchange/ which will (probably) stay open until the 18th Nov. Might be longer, but don't bet on it. Title: Re: [NAUT] Nautiluscoin to Nxt-based Nautilus redemption process. Post by: worth on November 15, 2015, 10:58:46 PM Nope. Sorry.
