Bitcoin-sCrypt - CryptoVoter

After over a year and a half of development by self-funding (and refusing to prefund vaporware with an ICO or premine) the CryptoVoter development team has developed an open-source shareholder-style blockchain voting client and Bitcoin-sCrypt (BTCS) will be first cryptocoin to use CryptoVoter’s blockchain voting client to decentralize crypto development.

CryptoVoter’s new and unique blockchain voting system was recently featured in techcrunch (http://techcrunch.com/2015/09/21/a-solution-to-bitcoins-governance-problem/) and CryptoCoinNews (https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/cryptovoter-brings-decentralized-voting-bitcoin-oct-23-vote-increase-block-size/).

The community will guide development on future cryptocoin features.  Pulling features instead of pushing them.   This is the future of cryptocoin development.  Bitcoin-sCrypt (BTCS) will lead the way.

The open-source voting client has been developed and alpha-tested.

No vaporware.  No ICO’s.  No pre-mines.   Real software.  Real voting.  Real decentralization.

Shareholder-style blockchain voting is here.  Decentralized cryptocoin governance is now.

Welcome to Altcoins 2.0.

Bitcoin-sCrypt – Decentralized Development

While the original Bitcoin (BTC) provides decentralized transaction exchange and confirmation, development follows a centralized top-down model.  Bitcoin-sCrypt (BTCS) development is committed to decentralizing development by having users vote on development issues with vote weight based on coin ownership percentages, just like shareholder voting in a corporation.   What’s more, Bitcoin-sCrypt users can propose items to be voted on so Bitcoin-sCrypt development is truly community-driven.

Future votes include whether to change the mining algo to become more asic resistant, whether to switch to a hybrid or a pure Proof-of-Stake system; whether to adopt anonymity features; whether to increase the blocksize; and whether to adopt new cryptocoin features and functionality, as proposed by the coin-holders themselves.

How Voting Works:

Users can cast votes manually, or use the CryptoVoter voting client to automatically cast votes, by creating vanity Bitcoin voting addresses in the user’s own wallet to allow them to send coins from one address in their wallet to another address in the same wallet by a designated blockheight deadline to publicly register votes.  Voters never give up control of their private keys before, during or after votes.  At the designated voting blockheight deadline (which is announced 48-72 hours before the estimated voting deadline), all non-zero balances of matching vanity Bitcoin voting addresses are tallied to count votes and can be independently counted by anyone using a blockchain explorer.

An infographic explaining how it works can be found here (http://bitcoinscrypt.co/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Blockchain-Voting.png).

How to Vote:

To automatically cast a vote, download the CryptoVoter-BTCS voting client  (http://btcs-voter.com/) and launch the client to get the latest voting question and answer choices.  You can also view past vote results and future voting questions in the client.

To manually cast a vote, visit http://btcs-voter.com to get the latest voting question and manual voting instructions.  You can also view past vote results and future voting questions on the website.

This is a very old coin, I don't think there was any premined and Smokeasy took over the development without any incentives. I'm glad he didn't give up, btw I still have all my coins  ;)

As mentioned in the OP, we refused to do any prefunding of vaporware with an ICO or premine.  As a result it took longer to develop but we finished with an actual working product.  Now ready for the next stage.

I think doing an ICO or premine would have tarnished.  Interested to see how the altcoin scene reacts.

As of now it can, but I suspect that will change once word spreads its the first cryptovoter vote coin.  Then I think the scrypt asics will start jumping on board.

Hashing rate keeps going high and then low.

It's miners jumping on and off the network.  It's normal and has been observed since the coin was released.

Hi all,

Maybe we can have a discussion about the first vote which will be at 2 oktober. What would be the pros and cons if we would change the logo or not?

I personally think it would be good thing if we change it to something more universal, because the 'scrypt' part of this coin would be able to change in the future.
Maybe beter to change now before we get big  ;D

Cheers,

Mike

I think it should be changed because I thinks the scrypt part is too generic also.

But the logo may need to be changed anyway if the name change vote is successful.

How hard is a logo contest to setup if the vote does pass?  I think  we would be using the voting system for the logo contest vote too, right?

We would have to wait until October 16 to see if the name is changed. According to the results of a competition logos would.
Let's see what happens.

Tendríamos que esperar hasta el 16 de octubre para ver si se cambia el nombre. Según los resultados se haria un concurso de logotipos.
Esperemos a ver que sucede.

Exactly.  If the name is changed then we can only have the logo contest afterwards.

Changing the logo and distributing the changes wouldn't be that hard but timing would have to be after the name change vote.

Yes we would decide the logo contest using the voting system.  I'll look into options for a potential logo contest.

White paper describing your voting protocol?

The white paper describing the CryptoVoter shareholder-style blockchain voting system can be found here:  http://bit.ly/wpcvoter

When we came up with the idea in January 2014 and initially called it "Vanity Voting" because we used vanity addresses to vote.

You can also see the alpha-test vote results on the http://BTCS-voter.com website.

Check it out and let me know if you have any questions.

Thx,

Smokeasy

We think it's a good time to start the discussion on voting parameters on Bitcointalk so we can get some feedback on proposed voting rules for the upcoming votes.

Below, please find our initial thoughts on certain voting parameters for community feedback.  We are actively soliciting community opinions on the voting process so feel free to ask anything.

VOTING PARAMETERS:

VOTING DATE DEADLINE

  • Description:  The Voting Date Deadline is the estimated date that the votes for a particular question must be cast.
  • Commentary:  The Voting Date Deadline is just an estimate of when the Voting Block Deadline will occur and is not a guarantee of when voting will actually end for that question.  The Voting Block Deadline overrides the Voting Date Deadline if they conflict.
  • Questions:  Is this confusing?  Is there a better way?

VOTING BLOCK DEADLINE:

  • Description:  The Voting Block Deadline is the specific blockheight deadline that all votes must be cast by for a particular question and only voting addresses with non-zero balances at that designated blockheight will be counted.  Non-zero voting address balances before or after the blockheight deadline will not count for voting to eliminate double-voting (e.g., double-spending).
  • Comments:  The voting block deadline will be announced 48 hours before the estimated voting deadline date.
  • Questions: Is 48 hours enough time before an estimated voting date deadline to announce the block?  How best to estimate voting block deadline when mining hashes vary so much?

VOTING MAJORITY

  • Description:  Unless stated otherwise, voting will be decided based on which answer choice receives more than >50% of all cast votes.
  • Comments:  In the event no answer choice receives more than 50% of the vote, then the top two answer choices will have a subsequent run off election to get to >50%
  • Questions: Should we consider an instant run-off system instead of having a separate run-off election if no answer gets >50% support?

META-VOTES

  • Description: For major votes, we plan on holding initial meta-votes to decide whether or not to vote on the actual issue itself
  • Comments:  We think breaking down major votes into initial meta-votes will give users a better chance to investigate and participate, if/when a meta-vote passes rather than expecting them to educate themselves enough before an initial vote.
  • Questions: Any suggestions or comments on a better way to proceed for major votes besides using meta-votes?

FREQUENCY OF VOTES

  • Description:  For Bitcoin-sCrypt, the first two-votes will be two weeks apart, but subsequent Bitcoin-sCrypt votes will be held approximately once-per-month
  • Comments:  Initially we're having the first two votes so close for two reasons: (1) to (hopefully) build some momentum early on with voting and (2) we wanted to give Bitcoin-core users an opportunity to try out CryptoVoter's shareholder-style blockchain voting with Bitcoin-sCrypt one week before the first Bitcoin-core blockchain meta-vote on whether to vote on increasing the maximum blocksize.
  • Questions:  Is once-a-month voting too frequent or not frequent enough?  Should Bitcoin-sCrypt coordinate with Bitcoin-core re voting?

COMMUNITY-BASED VOTING QUESTIONS

  • Description:  A methodology for allowing users to propose questions to be voted on
  • Comments:  The only way to truly achieve decentralized development is to allow users to propose questions re development for the community to vote on.  We want the process to be fair and public.  Initially, we're thinking to have users post potential questions in the forums which we can decide to adopt as future voting questions.  However, in time we want to create a way to allow anyone to post the question on the website with a way for the community to decide which questions get voted on next
  • Questions:  Any other suggestions on a process or methodology to allow users to submit questions for the community to vote on (instead of giving developers sole discretion on what questions are presented to the community)?

REQUIRING +n CONFIRMATIONS

  • Description:  We are considering adding a requirement that voting coins must have at least +n confirmations at the voting address in order to count towards voting.  The first vote scheduled for Oct 2, 2015, will not have a +n confirmations requirement
  • Comments:  Currently, with no +n confirmations requirement, voting is essentially cost-free which may incentivize vote-buying/vote borrowing because users who do not care about a particular voting outcome can sell their votes without ever giving up control of their coins.  In addition to that problem, with no +n confirmations requirement third-party unauthorized fiduciaries like exchanges, mining pools, escrows, etc..., can vote on issues using coins they control but technically do not own.  By adding a sufficiently high +n confirmations requirement for votes to count, voting coins would be voluntarily locked up and unable to be used for required +n confirmations which could work to disincentivize these stated problems because of the cost of voluntarily not being able to use coins for required confirmation time.
  • Questions:  After the first vote, should we require +n confirmations in order for votes to count?  If so, how many +n confirmations should be required to address the problems mentioned?

HERE ARE THE AFOREMENTIONED QUESTIONS LIST AGAIN:

  • VOTING DATE DEADLINE:  Is the voting date deadline confusing?  Is there a better way?
  • VOTING BLOCK DEADLINE:  Is 48 hours enough time before an estimated voting date deadline to announce the block?  How best to estimate voting block deadline when mining hashes vary so much?
  • VOTING MAJORITY DEFINITION:  Should we consider an instant run-off system instead of having a separate run-off election if no answer gets >50% support?
  • META-VOTES:  Any suggestions or comments on a better way to proceed for major votes besides using meta-votes?
  • VOTING FREQUENCY:  Is once-a-month voting too frequent or not frequent enough?  Should Bitcoin-sCrypt coordinate with Bitcoin-core re voting?
  • COMMUNITY-BASED VOTING QUESTIONS:  Any suggestions on a process or methodology to allow users to submit questions for the community to vote on (instead of giving developers sole discretion on what questions are presented to the community)?
  • REQUIRING +N CONFIRMATIONS:  After the first vote, should we require +n confirmations in order for votes to count?  If so, how many +n confirmations should be required to address the problems mentioned above?

Please review this information and give us any feedback on the proposed questions or any other feedback or questions or criticisms as well.  We will do our best to respond.

Thx,

Smokeasy

  • VOTING DATE DEADLINE:  Is the voting date deadline confusing?  Is there a better way?

Good questions.  I'll try to give you my feedback on most of them after work.  Here is my answer to the first question.

No I don't think the voting date deadline thing is confusing.  We should just focus on the voting block deadline mostly.  The date thing is just a recommendation right?

More feedback after work.  Thanks.

Interesting voting.  I think I understand it but have question.

I don't think it can but has your team evaluated if the voting can be manipulated like signature voting?

Also, I agree with the idea but I think most people would want one person = one vote instead of your system?

It cannot be manipulated like signature voting because voting coins must be confirmed in a voting address at the voting block deadline.  Since one coin cannot be in two places at the same time, users cannot manipulate voting.

Make sense?

tbh, after learning how it works most people support the idea of one coin = one vote instead of one person = one vote.

We chose the one coin = one vote for two important reasons:
1.  We believe that those who have a bigger stake in the outcome should have a bigger voice in any decision, just like shareholders in a corporation.
2.  Creating a one person = one vote voting system defeats the purpose and technology behind decentralization because a trusted-third-party is required to make sure that one person get one, and only one, vote, which would inherently centralize the voting.

Vote to get Bitcoin-sCrypt listed on Cryptopia.  There are over 100 coins listed for voting and Bitcoin-sCrypt is one of the top coins (#1 in weekly user votes).  We only get one user vote per day so log in and vote when you get a chance.

How about doing a pre-voting for a few names as a poll using this thread and take the finalists to the actual block-chain based vote?

BTW- I have 200 BTCs buried on Minpal for 18 months now (Blast from the past :))

The first CryptoVoter shareholder-style blockchain votes will happen in approximately 48-72 hours when we reach Bitcoin-sCrypt block 333,333 (the "voting deadline block").  As of this writing, the current Bitcoin-sCrypt block is 332,510 so the voting deadline block for the first vote is 823 blocks away and should happen sometime between Oct. 02 and Oct.04, 2015.

The first vote is whether or not to replace the current Bitcoin-sCrypt logo and replace it through a logo contest.  This vote was set up as an initial test vote, as it is widely expected that the community will vote to replace the old logo.

We also created an infographic to show how easy it is to vote in just three steps:
 (1) Download CryptoVoter-BTCS voting client v.1.10.1
 (2) Launch the voting client and cast your vote before Bitcoin-sCrypt voting block deadline 333,333
 (3) Wait until block 333,333 has been solved and added to the blockchain before moving your coins
(*) Vote results can be found by using the voting client, the voting website or by searching with a Bitcoin-sCrypt blockchain explorer.

Remember, for votes to count users must send coins to their voting address before the voting deadline block 333,333 and keep them there until that block has been solved and added to the blockchain.

We will announce final voting results after voting deadline block 333,333 has been solved, and collect feedback to tweak the second Bitcoin-sCrypt blockchain vote scheduled for October 16, 2015, and repeat the process for the first Bitcoin-core blockchain vote scheduled for October 23, 2015.

Thanks and we are excited about holding the first official CryptoVoter shareholder-style blockchain vote to decentralize development by giving users a vote in development issues.

An explanatory infographic follows.

Thx,

Smokeasy

Community,

We have two pieces of fantastic news to share with the community!

First, the first official Bitcoin-sCrypt blockchain vote this past weekend was held successfully with no known issues or hang-ups.  On the question of whether to change the current Bitcoin-sCrypt logo and replace it with bounty-driven logo contest won by a wide-margin of 98% voting to change the logo, while less than 2% voted to keep it as is.

Second, Bitcoin-sCrypt won the coin voting to be added to the Cryptopia exchange this past weekend.  Voting was extremely close with it everything coming down to the final few minutes.  Thanks to everyone that helped make it happen.

We are pleased to be added to Cryptopia because that exchange has a very active community and, notably, incorporates a novel altcoin tipping bot through its chat system.  Additionally, Cryptopia provides other altcoin hosting services, such as mining services, blockchain explorers and altcoin marketplace, so we are excited to be join Cryptopia and we encourage everyone to join too.

The next Bitcoin-sCrypt blockchain vote scheduled for October 16, 2015, is expected to be the most controversial to-date, as Bitcoin-sCrypt coin-holders will vote on whether or not to rebrand Bitcoin-sCrypt by changing its name and adopting a new identity entirely.

While the third Bitcoin-sCrypt blockchain vote was initially intended to allow the users to decide whether to change Bitcoin-sCrypt’s coin code, that vote will now be pushed back to allow the resolution of the name change vote first.

Other user-submitted voting questions being considered for future blockchain voting include whether to: switch to proof-of-stake; adopt transaction anonymity; add multi-coin functionality to the wallet; and shift development to focus on mobile-based payment processing solutions.

More exciting Bitcoin-sCrypt development news to come, but the next thing on our plate is to decide whether to change Bitcoin-sCrypt’s name through the next blockchain vote.

The next blockchain vote is whether to change Bitcoin-sCrypt's official coin name and is scheduled for this Friday, October 16, 2015.

The voting block deadline is Bitcoin-sCrypt block # 339500, which should occur sometime between Oct 16, 2015, and Oct 18, 2015.

Voting is easy.  Just download the CryptoVoter-BTCS open-source voting client from http://btcs-voter.com and cast your vote using Bitcoin-sCrypt coins before the voting block deadline of BTCS block 339500.

An infographic with voting announcement details can be found below.

Also, the source-code and binaries for the Bitcoin-core CryptoVoter-BTC voting client will be released within 24 hours for the first Bitcoin-core blockchain vote on whether to increase the maximum blocksize, estimated for October 23, 2015.

Repost from:  http://theotherbitcoin.com/bitcoin-scrypt-voting-and-development-november-announcement/ (http://theotherbitcoin.com/bitcoin-scrypt-voting-and-development-november-announcement/)

Development and Voting Update for November

We have two important announcements to make:
1. Expansion of Bitcoin-sCrypt development team.
2. Next set of blockchain votes to rebrand Bitcoin-sCrypt (e.g., new name, new coin code and new logo) have been scheduled.

1. New Addition to Bitcoin-sCrypt Development Team

We are excited to announce that the Bitcoin-sCrypt development team is expanding with the addition of developer Bitquark.  Bitquark was the lead developer of the Bitquark altcoin and has unofficially supported Bitcoin-sCrypt development in the past; most recently, with his work on updating the client source-code to include coin control functionality, which we plan to release after the name change vote.

Bitquark has been a strong supporter of our experiment to decentralize development by having users vote on development issues using the blockchain and we are very happy to have Bitquark on board.

2. Next set of blockchain Votes Scheduled

After discussions with the community, the next set of votes concerning the rebranding of Bitcoin-sCrypt via name and logo change are to be resumed and are scheduled as the next set of blockchain votes on CryptoVoter.

Specifically, Blockchain Vote #4 to decide the new official name of Bitcoin-sCrypt is scheduled to occur on or around December 4, 2015, with the approximate blockheight deadline of block 372,000.

We will be accepting potential names to be added to voting ballot for one week, until Nov. 23, 2015 (approximately 2 weeks before the actual name selection vote).  Potential names can be submitted on our official forum at CryptoCoinTalk on our main thread which can be found here:  https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1169-bitcoin-scrypt-btcs-information/

Following the name change vote:

Blockchain Vote #5 on picking the coin’s new coin code will be scheduled for Friday, Dec. 18, 2015.

Blockchain Vote #6 on picking a winner for the coin’s logo contest will be scheduled for late January 2016 to provide enough time for entrants to submit entries.

After the rebranding blockchain votes have completed, the next set of votes will involve issues fundamental to the coin’s mining and development, such as whether to change from pure Proof-of-Work to pure Proof-of-Stake or a hybrid of the two and/or whether to change the mining algorithm from scrypt to keep it more asic resistant.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support.

We will list potential names here that will be added to the ballot list of names to be selected as Bitcoin-sCrypt's new official name in the upcoming Blockchain Vote #4, scheduled for December 4, 2015 (as per the announcement found here:  http://theotherbitcoin.com/bitcoin-scrypt-voting-and-development-november-announcement/)

Potential new coin names:

1.  bpmcoin
2.  nanocoin
3.  scrypts
4.  blockchain votecoin
5.  bitvotecoin

We will accept additional name suggestions for one (1) week, until 11/23/2015.  Please post them here.  Thx.

the only reason i support a name change is because I don't think it should remain scrypt algo, kinda hard to vote on things when so many are dependent on other outcomes, ie name in my mind is dependent on algo, logo is dependent on name etc

Exactly 2 weeks ago I posted a suggestion that we should hold of on voting for the name (and branding) until we, as a community, decide how we want the coin to be defined going forward.
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1169-bitcoin-scrypt-btcs-information/page-90?p=199966#entry199966

At the time, we received limited feedback so we decided to move forward with voting on a new name.

While a bit delayed, we are glad to now see the community put its voices together to really start discussing this issue.
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1169-bitcoin-scrypt-btcs-information/

As such, we will be holding off on the name change vote and look forward to more community feedback to decide how best to proceed from here.

Finally, thanks to everyone for the kind words...they are really appreciated.  That said, don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings when suggesting solutions, as we all want what's best for the coin and will be similarly be neutral in evaluating everyone's comments for deciding how to move forward.

Again, I am glad (and a little relieved)  we are finally having this important discussion before deciding on the name change issue and appreciate everyone's participation in the discussion.

You're welcome  ;D I am currently working on getting a blockexplorer synced, this will take a while to index all transactions.
EDIT: Indexing of the blockexplorer has finished, latest marketprice is taken from Cryptopia. You can find the BTCS blockexplorer at:

Not much.

But there is a 102 pages long thread on another forum:
https://cryptocurrencytalk.com/topic/1169-bitcoin-scrypt-btcs-information/?page=102

The coin is listed on two decent exchanges. C-Cex and cryptopia. There is active developers, but they don't communicate much and seem to be very slow. At the current price btcs is a probably a good buy. It got the potential to go up 100x, even though it is unlikely.

We Are Building A Universal Digital Currency Platform
Our goal is to enable users to engage in the digital currency ecosystem through one point of access - our universal digital currency platform. Bitcoin Shop, Inc. ("BTCS") is an early mover in the digital currency ecosystem and one of the first U.S. publicly traded companies in the space. As a firm believer in the blockchain technology, we offer various solutions including Bitcoin Shop - our ecommerce store which accepts a variety of digital currencies, BTCS Wallet - our secure storage solution and more. We deliver each solution by leveraging innovative technologies. We also leverage the services offered by our strategic partners. To date we have made investments in and partnered with 4 key digital currency companies including: GoCoin, Gem, Expresscoin, and Coin Outlet.

The community and myself have been actively looking for some devs to help with transitioning the coin from PoW to PoS/PoS-PoW Hybrid.  We believe moving to Proof of Stake (or a hybrid thereof) is what Bitcoin-sCrypt needs to take it to the next step.

In the interim, we are making sure the the blockchain keeps moving.

We welcome any and all support to make this happen.

Is it an legit message from dev's?

Got some (extra) coins today :)

Edit. Didn't read your first post.

You also add the nodes from c-cex: https://c-cex.com/?id=ws&shownodes=btcs

Edit2: The filename of your .conf file is most likely not bitcoin.conf. It should probably have the same as the the folder. I don't have the wallet installed on this pc so I can't check.

This project first started on Cryptocurrencytalk forum.
There has been recent activity there, by dev's and community.

Been tweeting about it a while ago, https://twitter.com/ShroommaNL/status/913213417627975680

Maybe that is the cause.
Been holding this for a while :) Glad to see it going up!

Agree about raw wallet. Hope the developers will correct this, including the other:
1. It conflicts with bitcoin wallet (If I specify "run when windows starts" settings, then the bitcoin wallet stop auto-starting and vice versa.
2. Data files are copied to the %appdata% and I can not find how to change it. Need they will be intalled to the directory I specified.

By the way, you do not need to specify as much data to the bitcoin.conf untill you are not going to do local mining through rpc. It is worthwhile to specify only nodes listed on the official site:
addnode = 104.131.186.185
addnode = 45.55.216.92
addnode = 203.20.114.252
addnode = 192.81.216.69
addnode = 185.8.166.94
addnode = 195.181.208.162

P.S. Mined today 10 blocks for future. Hope you guys you increase your shitcoin ;D

500$ or 500 satoshi?  :P

500$ would be nice, but i really don't thing that is possible. The current price is: $0.085436 USD (70.19%).

Its not unlikly that we can see atleast $1. That's only 11,7x from the current price.

The wallet is syncing but keeps getting stuck on block 484506 (21 hours ago).  :-[

Currently 4 active connections are found, I'm using Wallet v1.4.0

Any solutions?

Weird it's still saying "out of sync", but according to the block explorer 484506 is the last found block so what's wrong with the block chain or wallet?

Sometimes the blocks get "stuck" after asic miners jump on and raise the difficulty and then jump off leaving the other mining pools to bring the difficulty back down so blocks can be found.

This has been a known issue for Bitcoin-sCrypt since the last client update over 2 years ago.

Fortunately, we have a new dev team on board and they are working on adding Komoto Gravity Well to help with mining difficulty issue.

This will be the first update to the Bitcoin-sCrypt client since 2015.

Exciting times ahead!

Is this the official thread or there is a new one? You people need to dream really big. I really like it how BTCS managed to keep up with the BTC supply. The most important first step is to make sure that mining BTCs is more profitable than mining LTC.

There is a new thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2579150

We will update the OP accordingly.

Next client update will include an update of the mining difficulty retargeting algo to Komoto Gravity Well (or something similar) to make mining BTCS more competitive against LTC.

To Dev Team

I like the idea of it.

If I understand correctly, this is basically bitcoin but using Scrypt Hash instead of SHA-256. I think this brings many advantages and makes the coin very interesting. It's basically much more energy efficient and allows anybody to mine it using normal hardware. I think this makes it quite interesting. Also I guess transaction speed and network capacity would not be a problem for the forseeable future.

I am interested in the project and would like to contribute. Being a marketing professional I could help to present the coin in a better way, create website and other tools to create a professional look and communication.

Would this be something I can help with?

Best regards,

Michael

Bitcoin-Silver was an ERC20 token that was recently created and does not seem to be listed on any exchanges anymore.

Bitcoin-sCrypt is a cryptocoin on its own native blockchain that was released in 2013.

We have no idea what happened to Bitcoin-Silver but Bitcoin-sCrypt will be around forever.

Community,

Now that we have successfully completed the first blockchain fork of the revival of Bitcoin-sCrypt, we are ready for the next set up updates.

As such, there will be a mandatory update for all BTCS clients on March 26 2018.

Accordingly, all clients must upgrade to v.1.7.0 before March 26, 2018.

We will notify the major exchanges and mining pools.

After this update, the next major update will involve the move over to the hybrid proof-of-stake algo.

Thanks,

Next fork to implement Dark Gravity Wave 3.

Fork after that to implement hybrid proof-of-stake.

POS parameters are still being worked out.

Cap will stay at 21 million coins like Bitcoin-core.

Couldn't you implement Dark Gravity Wave 3 instead of Kimoto Gravity Well? A lot of hard forks might annoy and scare away people. Is the change to POS the last hard fork, when is it planned?

You devs were spending too much time changing the logo and doing an unnecessary fork!  You should have spent more time watching the price action on Cryptopia!  It kept falling and falling and falling.  It seemed to stabilize at about 1075 satoshis after the general Bitcoin crash, but then you guys dropped the ball and let it drop down to 470 satoshis!  Your primary job as a dev is to keep the price moving upwards!  And you are fucking failing!  Whenever the price dips you need to put your own money into BitcoinScrypt and pu mp the price back up so that your investors don't lose a bunch of money!  Stop doing these silly things we don't need and just buy your own fucking coin if you really believe in it.  Get the price back up!  Now!

MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE
Code:
there are still many wallets out there that haven't updated yet
if you do not update your wallet:
your old wallet will be disconnected from the correct BTCS network.
any btcs sent to exchanges will never make it.

Please make sure you are running the new v2.1.0.0 wallet

We have an important announcement.

All wallets must upgrade to BTCS v.2.1 before block 730,000.

An issue involving difficulty re-targeting was fixed so now all clients must upgrade to Bitcoin-sCrypt Wallet client v.2.1.  The deadline is set to block 730,000.

The latest code can be found here: https://github.com/Bitcoin-sCrypt/Bitcoin-sCrypt
Windows and Mac wallets can be found here:  https://bitcoinscrypt.io

Finally, hybrid Proof-of-Stake is enabled and running on the network so users can generate coins and help the network by staking their coins

Staking
staking requires that you have 'old' enough coins. pos block have a special value called "nTime" -
It is basically the creation time of the block.
The earlier pow blocks do not have the nTime value in them.
That is why they do not stake.

To make them stake, you need to turn them into new blocks, by sending them to yourself.

I suggest using the coin control so you can pick the blocks of coins you wish to combine and move.

NOTE:
you can only send about 64 blocks of coins max in a transaction.

The altcoinwarz block explorer for BTCS is completely offline.  There is still one at Prohashing.  But what is going on with altcoinwarz?  All their block explorers are down.

Is this crypto currency still operating and developing? Because of the marketcap it seems that the interest and very little, very low volume in circulation, besides these exchanges listed on the ANN homepage, there are others exchange that can trade the BTCS?

The dev needs to help get the information fixed on coinmarketcap.  They do not have a link to the current block explorer at altcoinwarz, and the circulating supply is wrong which is giving a wrong market capacity.  They claim that there are only 17,615,950 BTCS in circulation, whereas there are now over 19,100,000 in circulation according to the current block explorer.
