Bouncing dice off the blockchain is fun and all, but what if you need to do it 10 times to get your fix? Sadly, this still isn't enough for some of us.

Introducing DiceOnCrack.com (http://DiceOnCrack.com), which allows you to throw up to hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of throws with a single deposit! DiceOnCrack.com simulates the first throw in traditional fashion, but subsequent throws are the hash of the previous throw. This allows for an infinite amount of provably fair throws.

DiceOnCrack.com offers different strategies, each one customizable. Please visit http://diceoncrack.com/howtoplay (http://diceoncrack.com/howtoplay) on the site to find out the exact details.

Customization is done with the last 4 satoshi places on deposit and include:
Threshold - you pick what level to define a win.
Exit Point - Choose the level (relative to deposit) in which wagering is stopped and balance is returned.

And the strategies include:

Simple:
An initial deposit is split into 0.001 BTC wagers, and bet up to 15,000 times. The default win threshold is 'less than 32,000', and an exit point of 2x deposit. Each iteration has a 99.50% expected return to keep the good stuff in your system longer.

Martingale:
Let DiceOnCrack.com do the work for you! Each throw aims to make 0.001 BTC. If unsuccessful, the next wager is increased just enough to "get you back to normal". If the remaining balance isn't enough, the balance will keep being wagered in its entirety until "you are normal" again. All martingales have a 99.50% expected return per iteration.

Martingale - [BUSTO]
Same as the Martingale strategy, however after it is impossible to get back to normal, a new, lower level is set as "normal"

Martingale - [EXIT]
Same as martingale, but when the balance is not sufficient to get back on track, the balance is returned.

The reverse martingale. Keep wagering 0.001, but each win is bet in its entirety until the exit level is reached.

Minefield - Avoid the mines!
Something different. You need to make 1000 steps through a field. With each step, there is a 99.93% chance of safety. Make it all the way through to return 1.998x deposit! This is customizable, and each step can be made up to 99.994% safe.

2012-10-24: BETA TESTING PHASE. Caps are low. At this point DiceOnCrack.com will not handle any balance higher than 10.000 btc. DiceOnCrack.com will also not allow the balance to get that large. If a wager on any iteration has the potential to violate this, the balance at the time is returned without processing the wager. Please watch the website for an "offline" status. While offline, deposits will not be processed, and returned with our refund policy (basically, you pay fees if necessary).

Yes. All wagers return something. Unfortunately in this case, the 1 satoshi means your wagers were bet in entirety as a loss.

There is a small learning curve when placing wagers like martingales. You can go the high probability route, but any loss will take quite a hit on remaining balance. With a lower threshold, you can take many small losses. High exit points make it much more likely to fail in entirety, but much more rewarding with an overall win.

I suggest making small wagers at first to see what is most entertaining.

Be sure to click on the link to get your seed/final hash as well as a graphical representation of your wager!

Wait a sec! We were not posting tx fees on payout unless required, which greatly slows the inclusion of the payout tx in blocks. We have changed that now, fees will always get added (our treat :) )

That being said, I think your game is better than SD currently, I like the innovations and auto martingale setup.
Players can play your games and not spam the blockchain 1000 times to win 0.25 btc and pay 1000 * 0.005btc in txfees.

Good innovation, expect to be ripped off shortly :P

I love that you shaved a huge amount off the house edge. Should put some pressure on the competition.

Couple announcements

#1
Regarding slow payouts confirms, we have been adjusting the way unspent transactions are chosen to speed things up.

The payout TX will never be included in a block before the deposit TX because the latter is used as input for the former. They might go into the same block, likely so even, but if your original deposit doesn't get included for lack of fees or whatever, the payout tx won't either.

Three of my bets are sitting on retained. What does this mean?

We had 3 recently retained bets, which I assume were yours. For 2 of them, fees of 0.0005 were not enough. They were manually pushed again, and seem to be fine.

The 3rd one is a design issue for the type of bet that was placed. The deposit was 0.007, and the first iteration was shooting for this +.001 = 0.008. The issue is that to get to step #1, a wager larger than 0.007 is needed (a very high threshold was selected). When this fails, the [EXIT] strategy is designed to return any balance to the user. However, this should be treated as a 'refund', not a 'return'. A return for that tx would require fees >0.001, but as a refund it was 0.0005.

In the future, increasing the fee on retained bets will be automatic, but for now we are checking what is going on. Thanks for your patience and participation!

We are having a 1,000,000th iteration promotion.

After the 1,000,000th iteration, house fees will be temporarily reduced to 0.10% (99.90% return per iteration) for simple & martingales up to 2.000 btc! Wagers of 0.1 and under will still have a 98% expected return.

Instead of bouncing dice off the blockchain, you can bounce cards! Each transaction is mingled with the secret of the day to produce a provably fair shuffled deck, using a hash based Fisher-Yates shuffle algorithm. You are given the top 3 cards, and that hand is then ranked. Payouts:
Royal Flush: 50 to 1
Straight Flush: 40 to 1
3 of a kind: 30 to 1
Straight: 6 to 1
Flush: 4 to 1
Pair: 1 to 1
(Straights are A-2-3 to Q-K-A)

All games are for 0.10 btc, and an amount greater than that will result in multiple games. Winnings are not gambled. Amount less than 0.10 will be wagered in entirety.

The shuffling algorithm explained:

It seems the bitcoin client used for processing payments is refusing to sign the payout transaction, which is quite awkward as it should only happen if the transaction or the block was rolled back, which isn't the case.

I'll keep trying to fix this, but in the mean time I'll send you a manual payment. If I do fix this there's a good chance you'll get a double payment, which I'm sure will greatly upset you :)

A major milestone with DiceOnCrack, and bitcoin in general - we were able to verify our first DoC Pipe winner! It was sold by Bitcoiner2012 who received 4.494 coins on a 0.40 wager by an anonymous forum member. The anonymous person signed a message with the sending address that contained his shipping information.

With interest, we want to make the process more streamlined.

Congrats go to Bitcoiner2012 and to anonymous, as DiceOnCrack took the loss but facilitated a transaction that otherwise wouldn't have existed.

UPDATE: Our promotion with 0.10% fees will end within the next 24 hours. This will only apply to the [EXIT] Strategy, which has been bet heavily the last few days. We have been losing money due to fees. For those who have been playing, we enjoy the bets, but the fees per payout is unsustainable. The other martingales will continue to enjoy the 0.10% fee for wagers between 0.1 and up to 2.0000 btc.

Today's secret is sha(tomorrow's secret).

From how to play:
The secrets used in the HMAC_SHA512 portion of the seed are disclosed after 2 days, and they can be verified as each day SHA256 hash will be the previous day secret
This means that we have pre-calculated all the keys, as we can only know today's key if we already know tomorrow's, and the next day, and so on, since SHA256(today's secret) which is yesterday's secret had to be calculated ahead of time.

Yes, all times for DiceOnCrack, TAABL and LBAAT are UTC, including the secrets. The secret used is the one from when the bet is processed, not from when it is parsed, and there is a chance that a bet processed at 00:00 UTC will still use the previous day's secret.

Nice catch! I can confirm we own the private keys to those addresses. I believe they were our testing address when setting it up. Might not have transferred to the new server correctly.

Indeed that's just a side effect of the strategy having had an address change in the past. The old address is still valid and that's what you were seeing, I've fixed it now.

Also, although still in careful testing, we are allowing immediate processing of unconfirmed transactions again! Some will still not be processed immediately, such as when the fees are lower than required, in which case they will get processed when they get into a block.

Just a heads up to warn that we will be updating the LTC strategies bet size, lowering it it 1/10 of what it was before.

The reasoning is simple, the lower the bet size the more iterations you get out of your wager, but the lower the expected outcome of each is. We have started the altchains at 100x the BTC bet size, but since there is a major value difference between TRC and LTC, this change should improve the overall experience for LTC.

EDIT: minimum wager will not go down as LTC fees are way too high, only bet size is lowered

We have a new feature creeping in, which is an attempt to mitigate the issue with blockchain bloating, at least to some extend.

We're calling it the Bet Groups; wager payouts are going to be grouped by return address, and an attempt is made to join as many payouts as possible in a single transaction. This is the current plan:

  • Only transactions paying to the same address are grouped. This is to prevent issues with double spent transactions screwing everyone's payouts amongst other things.
  • The connection between wager input transaction and payment is kept, so there will be one output for each input in order to make it easy to assert no cheating is being done. Note that there might be an extra input when payout is larger than received amount, and an extra output for collecting change and these may shift the inputs and outputs such that input 0 connects to output 1, etc.
     
    • there is one exception, which is when using IRC proxy wallets the losing wagers don't pay anything as there's feedback in the IRC chat window, reducing the 'dust'. This means the input for these losing wagers is not present in the payout.
  • Wagers are grouped for at most 5 minutes, meaning any payout in queue for an address will be immediately paid once the oldest queue entry is over 4 minutes old.
  • When an address queue has 5 or more payouts, they are sent regardless of queue entry age.

Many of the bets we get on the site come from what I believe are betting bots, and these might be processing the payout transactions for feedback. If that's the case they'll probably be confused with this new system so we are only turning it on for IRC proxy wallets for now, but will make it global in a couple of days if there are no major concerns with this from players.

Yes, there was a network issue and my slightly paranoid wager processor locked itself up waiting for human interaction. It's fixed now, all bets placed are being processed and paid.

Sorry about that, I'm trying to find less paranoid ways that are still as secure as the ones we have in place now.

We will be introducing another change to the payout system soon: There will be no 1 satoshi feedback sent on losing bets by default anymore, so if you lose you must check the web site to verify that.

If you are using a betting script and need the feedback you can add 5000 satoshis to your bet and those 5000 satoshis will be returned if you lose. Note that the full bet amount will include the 5000 satoshis, so that's not a fee, just a signal.

Please raise your voice if this presents a problem to you.

Now, the special thing about EXIT compared to the other Martingales is that it quits early, as soon as your balance isn't enough to reach the next prize step. Each step adds 0.001 to the target outcome.

With the wager settings (425 satoshis, 1.019 multiplier, exit 2x wager, which is actually the default), in order to go from 0.00700425 to 0.00800425 you need to win 0.001. Since the win multiplier is 1.019 you'll need to bet ~0.0526, which, if you win, will give you 0.0526x1.019 ~= 0.0536, or 0.001 more than you have bet.

But you don't have 0.0526 to bet, only 0.007, so the EXIT is triggered. It's a refund because no wager was ever placed.

There was a weird issue with TRC handling that was preventing the wager monitor to function properly, thanks for pointing this out! That warning does not mean the hot wallets are empty, but rather that the wager monitor process didn't update that particular chain in a couple of minutes. This is sometimes normal for a few seconds, when a lot of transactions are being parsed and that takes long, but if it appears and stays for any particular chain, it's either been disabled for maintenance or there's a problem, such as it was in this case.

It is always safe to place bets, since they are registered in the blockchain and can be processed at any time.

As for TRC, did it die and we missed it? I know it's an altchain, I know the exchange value is low but it is a great test coin for me. We have considered removing support for TRC if it becomes a burden, but that hasn't happened yet.

A little trivia; I developed the first lottery site for bitcoins (waaaay back) called The Amazing Anonymous Bitcoin Lottery, or TAABL for short, something that caught the eye of TTBit who requested a few changes to it, and we have been working together ever since. He eventually came up with the idea of DICEonCRACK and it did have a good success at the time.

It's still ticking and I have plans to improve it, but the amount of attention it gets makes it a low priority since time isn't abundant. Both sites and an anonymous ripple bridge TTBit and myself run are linked in my signature.
