I have no idea what's going on but I haven't been able to access the site since Thursday evening.

EDIT: Is it possible that they changed their URL again?

This has happened before but usually it doesn't take that long to be able to log on, but I can't even get onto the site itself.

No, it doesn't really change all that often....

Just google Silkroad url and you'll find it rather easily.

Could ya pls provide a reliable ETA for the service to be back up?

Do ya need some help?

Legalizing marijuana can lead to long-term decrease in recreational users :) Take Netherlands for example, one coffee shop owner said: "90% of my business comes from (British but others too) tourist".. Ahhh poor silkroad should've seen that coming :/

Hopefully its working now   :-\

For now, I believe so. My understanding: Is it's legal to have a small amount, and grow up to 6 plants. The next step is to figure out how to legalize selling it. So you can smoke it, but you can't buy it... SR becomes a great option.

Use silkroadvb5piz3r.onion as URL.

Leave out /index.php at end as no pointer enabled to the "index.php" file.

If you enter the url without the /index.php at end, you will then see the notice about "back up ASAP".

I still can't connect whatsoever, this the same for everyone?

"Censorship"?

These posts are crap.

I wouldn't bother pissing on a "censored" site.

We should ALL abandon this crap site as it looks like they may be in kahoots with the lowest of lowlife filth, the fucking scumbags known as the DEA.

Nov 13, still down :(

Even if they get this back up, I hope a massive influx of new users is not a trend that will eventually lead to the sites downfall. More users means more publicity means more pressure on investigators.

The more public awareness the more fire under the governments ass to shut down the site.

It would get rid of the kids that are buying next to nothing, or just showing all their friends

I just found this comment from DPR;

Official statement from Captain Dread Pirate Roberts !!

Hello everyone,

I’m alive, I’m safe. Luck would have it that the first time I’m away for more than 24 hours, the site goes down and I’m the only one that can bring it back up. As soon as we are sure there haven’t been any security breaches and taken all of the necessary precautions, we will get back up and running. If anyone’s orders get messed up because of this (auto-finalizing, etc), we will take full responsibility and make things right, just contact support once we’re back up. I’m terribly sorry for this and all of the recent problems. I promise it is my top priority to get things running smoothly again.

UPDATE (0012 UTC):  Sorry I'm late on this update, won't happen again.  We're pretty much polishing and going down the final check list at this point.  I'm confident we'll make our "matter of days" estimate and this won't be drawn out into week+ territory (assuming nothing goes wrong when we reopen).  When we reopen, access will be limited to vendors only for a few hours so they can mark packages shipped that were sent but not marked before we went down.  Also, auto-finalize and auto-vacation haven't been running since Sunday, and we won't fire those back up for a couple of days after we reopen so everyone can get square first.  Can't wait till this is behind us :)  Next update before 1500 UTC Wednesday.

Because I like the silk road setup better than most other black markets on tor and I like to be able to purchase plants from the same guy.

I just found this comment from DPR;

DPR[/b][/i]

Finally some hope. Quick question though, would it be foolish to withdraw and send over coins while it's in this state, or would it be more apt to wait to send over when it's fully reopened?

Wait.  The receiving addresses may have changed.

Should be fully operational in a few hours as right now only vendors can log in as DPR says in his statement.

Down right now, and since some hours.
Also, I was online before the down and It wasn't allowing me to buy, I made a withdrawn of one btc, the btc was sent, as today, seven hours later, I haven't received it yet.

Yes. It was like 9 hours before. But It didn't allowed me to buy. It allowed me to do a withdrawn, that was reflected into the Silkroad interface, but the bitcoin was never sent.
I have really bad luck, the day I just put 15 btc in to buy some shit.. That's the day It's down.  :-[ Hope that is ON again. With the money they win, It doesn't make sense to do a take all and run.
Well, only if the police were very near to catch them, or something like that. Hope that it came back online soon.

Yes, I think/hope the same. Anyway, I don't know why DPR doesn't make at least a short and brief communicate about what is happening.

There is also the trust issue.  One just can't hire anyone to work on a cladestine website, now can one?  I didn't think that a DDOS attack was possible against a hidden service, or is all of Tor under assault?

Possibly a mixture of both...

There is a brief rise in the 50kb transfer measure but nothing out of the ordinary. I can't tell.

Well, the bitcoin I withdrawn yesterday It's here now. Also, I see the login screen. Trying to log in now. (The window appears, but I don't seem to be able to log.. anyway, this is Torland, and It just came to live. So I suppose that this is enought good news  ;D )
So, mainly we have silkroad online again.  :D

I've not tested buying anything yet as my personal vendors don't have any active listings, but nothing seems to be different or buggy for me. I am free to explore the site and pretty fast speeds if i'm honest. But yeah, we'll see how it turns out.

Glad to see it's back up and running. It seemed to be working yesterday but it kept logging me out and the captcha part of the login screen wasn't working properly but was able to login and finalize and order I'd received prior to it going offline. They're also limiting new registrations so the problem doesn't reoccur.

Was that why it was down, too many new registrations? How is it being limited?

Haha I dont know why I find it ironic that there is a Silk Road thread here, it being illegal substances and all but I guess since it takes bit coins thats how it works. I read into it and it seems like an interesting venture. Anyone who made a site similar to SR that could generate similar traffic would make so much money

SR is not about illegal stuff. Yes, it's used extensively for drugs, but there are a lot of legit sales on it too.

Eventually some idiot seller is going to get busted, the cops will catch on he was using silk road, and the idiot seller will have a list of
everyone he sent drugs to. Watch the fall out from it as people realize it might not be as safe as they thought and get hit not only with
drug charges but other related felony charges due to using the mail system across state lines... Cant you picture a bunch of boxes and
envelopes with drugs in them with address labels on the top waiting to be mailed the next day? lol.. i can. Or better yet the drug seller
will cooperate with police to keep taking orders and racking up more and more names until they have a cool 100 or so customers to bust.

But eh.. this is bitcoin. It will take several fucks up before people think.

That's not a risk that is inherent to Bitcoin transactions, or even to Silk Road.  So that isn't a Bitcoin issue to solve.  If drugs is what you want, you are taking the risks.  Using bitcoin does reduce those risks in some ways, but wise consumers should be aware that Bitcoin isn't some magic pill.

If you don't know, then assume it makes it so you access the onion/tor network through a 3rd party web-to-tor proxy service (onion.to) that is probably either run by the FBI/DEA - or collects your login info, or spoofs websites - for profit.

It removes the need for TOR, but also causes you to no longer be fully anonymous.

Don't do it if you actually buy or sell on the site. Or actually, don't use it at all unless you're only visiting sites with no illegal content.. But yea, good luck finding those.
