Those kind of domains don't really have any value because of their extension and also they are not CEO friendly like .com , .co , .NET , .ORG etc. ..

The value is in the development options and its a very easy to remember domain.....A lot of non generic domains have value because they can be easy developed and they are easy to remember although you are right that search engines are also a part of value.

I never trust any website with an unusual extension, I only trust websites with the well known .com , .co , .NET, etc extensions. If a domain is too long I view it as suspicious too. Most people probably don't trust unusual domains so you can buy them cheaper, but get less page views if you use them.

What you pay for is what you get. It's free for a reason. I bet most people don't even realize .website is even an extension...

Both HoneybadgerOfMoney.com, and Weed4bitcoin.com have .com extensions which the whole internet community is used to, so I don't think the extensions are too long. HoneybadgerOfMoney is so long it puts me slightly off, but that's only my personal preferences. I'm certain people wouldn't be afraid to click the link because of an unusual extension, the .com in HoneybadgerOfMoney.com is one of the most common extensions on the internet, and nice and concise, unlike .website

I don't think it's worth anything now to be honest, but maybe in the future it can be gain value as any other dictionary or common words. There are plenty of these type of domains available so you didn't discovered anything. That doesn't mean it doesn't have potential value.

.io domains have a different story as I see some of you discussing that "alternative" ones don't have any value, that's one exception.

Have you started planning yet?

Good for you.I think you should hold this domain for longer duration and it may become valuable by then.Although with ICANN releasing more and more domain extensions, its not big deal if you get your hand on some generic name for those extensions.

Don't let the naysayers get you down - it's a good domain name!

It may not rank as fast as a .com, but it's a searchable name that you can link to.  Do good SEO on the page and you'll do fine.

I agree with the first part of your comment but I dont think a domain extension has anything to do with the time or duration of getting good search engine ranking. If your content is good and unique, and you do a good on page and off page seo,you can get good ranking as you would normally with a .com domain

It's easy to remember this domain, but i'm not sure if this extension .website is really a Top domain like .com and .net for example. But anyway it can be used to promote Bitcoin services for the people and advertise this crypto currency as well

Not sure if I was a naysayer but to me he take a gamble basically or decided to "invest" into something. A domain has to be renewed for many years even if that doesn't cost very much. I see potential of course but only time will tell really. Personally I wouldn't buy it if I saw it but OP thinks he found gold, that's the only thing that in my opinion didn't make too much sense.

.website is also worth and talking about SEO friendly i don't think its extenstion. Lots of think depend on getting indexed in results. I think if you can list down the bitcoin related website in this domain, you will make it worth after 1-2 years with extensive link building.

well the .com's are mostly all taken now so having a sub top level domain name isn't the worst thing if you need a name that people can remember.

Let's be honest, who types out long addresses these days? You copy and paste it, and then you rely on auto complete to fill in the gaps, when you want to visit it again or you just add it as a favorite and go from there.

The long extension is no biggie, and I think you will do good with that one, if you hold onto it or do something nice with it. Well Done ^hmf^

You mean SEO.
It should rank still as long as the website owner add fresh contents and optimize the site for search engines. blockchain site has .info extension and look at it.

blockchain.info has immense, organic traffic. else it wouldn't be top in google. every domain extension that is not .com or .net (maybe .org) is difficult to setup on top spot in google.

that being said, those new tlds are absolutely worthless, if you don't plan on building a product with traffic

It wasn't available a few days ago when it was Bitcoin black friday. I guess some one didn't have any money left on their account to renew the domain, and thus it was available again. These kind of domains barely have real value unless you have the bitcoin .market .casino .exchange ,etc.

I would do a domain that has .ninja xD "bitcoin.ninja" or some thing.

Its a matter of time before people get used to such tlds.I think Op can use it to his advantage by creating some good website around it.If he has good seo knowledge,he can get good traffic as well like creating some sub domains with good keywords for different pages for example http://faucet.bitcoins.website and provide a list of bitcoin faucets on that page etc

Great idea. A list of faucets would go great with this domain. Even a faucet would work great with this domain. I have seen some faucets with domains that were much worse than this and nevertheless they had great traffic.

This domain can be used quite well, all you need is an idea and some knowledge to get it done!

Its not easy to sell just any domain.Only domains that get organic traffic are sold for high price.Earlier Google PageRank was also one of reasons for getting good price but now that too has become irrelevant. The best idea these days is to create a website with some good content and do some seo on it.A related good domain name is also a part of SEO

Those kind of domains don't really have any value because of their extension and also they are not CEO friendly like .com , .co , .NET , .ORG etc. ..

Lately there are some more rare domains that are expensive as hell, for example the .io domains are really expensive for some reason, and they are trending. The bitco.in was a good idea too, other than that, all the good ones are all already taken. Roger Ver paid tons to spread his propaganda on Bitcoin.com lol.

I've just sold a .com for $2,000. I offered it to the guy for 5 bitcoins, and that was before the recent price increase. He decided to stick with dollars though. I must admit that I prefer .com extensions - JetCash.com is mine for example, and I plan to use that to promote crypto currencies.

You should be able to do something with "bitcoin website" to get some SEO, so you should be able to earn a profit on reg fee. ( although $30 seems a bit expensive if that is the cheapest fee).

Indeed its a good domain to got, its also pretty good to remember you can just first make it popular and than sell it for a lot of bitcoins.
You also wait till its maybe needed for someone, there will be someone will need it in the future for sure.

I never trust any website with an unusual extension, I only trust websites with the well known .com , .co , .NET, etc extensions. If a domain is too long I view it as suspicious too. Most people probably don't trust unusual domains so you can buy them cheaper, but get less page views if you use them.

Why? That's just absurd and ignorant.

There is absolutely nothing technical about the new gTLDs that make them less secure than the older TLDs.

It's like the advice to only do business with people who give a firm handshake - when most con artists give very firm hand shakes.

I'm getting out of .io this year.

They have some restrictions I do not like, such as no adult content and they do not allow privacy guard for domain whois data.

It's not worth paying more for TLDs that are more restrictive in what I'm allowed to do with them.

It is of course not as valuable as .com or .net but you never know. If bitcoin gets as popular as we all hope, you might make some money. Just keep it safe mate  ;)

anything that doesn't end with .com (aside from .gov .edu, ect) is considered dangerous by the normal user

Not true. People click on .ly links all the time for example - which is dangerous because bit.ly does track users, but users don't care.

My cost for registering a new .website name is $1.09, and I don't think I would have picked it up if I had seen it. I'm cautious of it for 2 reasons - It is a plural, and I think that diminishes the value for Bitcoin, and I don't like the website extension - for me it is pretty meaningless. I'm backing away from virtually all extensions apart from .com at the moment. It took me a month to decide to renew english.gold, and "english gold" is quite a good search phrase. Google search trends has more or less flatlined "bitcoins website".

BitcoinUpgraded.com dropped last night, but somebody has already grabbed that, but it shows that there are still some reasonable Bitcoin .coms to be found.
