They are the same in the sense they use the same algorithm with different parameters.

But of course they are not the same in the sense you transfer Dogecoin to a Bitcoin address, of course

No, they are based on a different program code.

  • Transactions are 4 times faster than with Bitcoin, in exchange for less conservative and possibly weaker security guarantees (depending on human behavior).
  • CPU/GPU mining means that the barriers to entry into the Litecoin mining market are cheap relative to Bitcoin mining.
  • The total amount of litecoins is 4 times higher than the total amount of bitcoins.

Bitcoin because of its market cap and worldwide acceptance.  You can find more coins on coinmarketcap.com (http://coinmarketcap.com)

Bitcoin = the first cryptocurrency.
Litecoin = the most succesfull altcoin project.
Dogecoin = the most famous altcoin ever.

The founder/dev is different and sure bitcoin is the most promising coin because bitcoin had a large and strong community also bitcoin is mother of cryptocurrency without bitcoin , altcoin mean nothing.

Bitcoin, Litecoin and dogecoin are completely different other than crypto-currencies.
Bitcoin is the first of this kind and the market leader, whereas litecoin and dogecoin are known as alternative crypto-currencies. Bitcoin and litecoin are compared to gold and silver respectively, we can assume dogecoin as bronze.

Bitcoin is the first one which was created in 2009. So it is the currency which inspired the creators of all altcoins like litecoin and doge coin
Doge coin is good for micro transactions

No they are not the same, all based off the same concept although Dogecoin and Litecoin are referred to as alternate coins.

All of the founders/devs are different people.

Bitcoin is the main coin and has a much wider adoption so from that evidence I would say Bitcoin is the most promising.

I agree, bitcoin or bust.  However, I have an irrational love affair with DOGE.  I like the no need for decimal place trait and the extremely quick confirmation times.  I don't like the price volatility and dearth of merchants who accept it.  Bitcoin is volatile as well, but I did buy some silver coins with it.

No. Many people are still deliberately collecting litecoins and dogecoins and many sites accept litecoin/dogecoin along with bitcoin.
But dogecoin has no new innovation with it. Technically it's just a clone of litecoin. Due to it's huge volume and uncapped nature it's priced very low.

Biggest difference: Bitcoin is father of all and have biggest market. It created millionaires.
Litecoin is soft alternative to bitcoin, but it may be counted as only successful alternative.
Other one is just internet meme named coin. It is more like fun thing.

Op. Invest only in Bitcoin. Forget about other cryptocurrencies, they are called altcoins for a reason, focus on the the biggest and the one which can actually succeed in a long run.
It is true that you could potentially earn more while investing in new alts and their initial pumps and dumps, but beside their speculative nature, they have no value at all.

As for now, I try to learn on how to trade using doge and lite which i got from faucets, I completely understand that since I collect them from faucet, there's nothing to lose except my time, but what pick my curiosity is how worthy it is to collect doge faucet? I mean, we all know the difficulties and annoyance on collecting coin from faucet, some people even consider that faucet-collecting is such a waste of time. So... if doge is a waste of time and faucet is a waste of time, that make doge-collecting-faucet a . . . . what? The waste of a waste of time?

They are not exactly the same, but they revolve around bitcoin. Dogecoin, if i'm correct doesn't have the 21 million bitcoin max, but more. Litecoin seems to be the second most popular coin, one reason being it was the second altcoin. It also had faster tx times, easier blocks, and hence earning it's name, "LITEcoin". I personally prefer Bitcoin, as most other altcoin use SHA256, there's no need for another type of encryption, and there's really no altcoin to beat bitcoin's community. Take a look at bitcointalk. No other altcoin forum much like it.

basically, there is no point or use in litecoin or dogecoin as they are only bitcoin tweaked in slightly different and (more or less) useless ways. only psychological bait such as "litecoin is the silver to bitcoin's gold" keeps people accumulating these 2 alts. If bitcoin dies, so do these 2. The offer nothing really special at the end of 2015 where we are now.

Yeah and bitcoin is more popular as compared to any other crypto currency and has higher market cap So I don't think that its the same as the users of bitcoins are more as compared to dogecoin or litecoin and bitcoins can hit the mainstream in the future and no other crypto can do that.

it depends on what you mean by profit. In terms of mining profit, they run different algorithms which suit certain processing units. let's say you have CPU, litecoin would benefit you more if you mine. however with asics these is pretty much redundant. But making use of difficulty levels and exchange rate, it is possible to benefit more by mining these altcoins. multipool has an automatic feature that mines the most profitable coin.

regarding trading or as a kind of investments, Bitcoin is pretty established while the rest are not, they have higher potential of a rapid increase in prices, however, they may also flop. no one knows for sure so it depends on whether you think these coins have potential. One example would be during the previous bubble, litecoin gained much more in value compared to Bitcoin but crashed harder

Do you remember that doge was supposed to be limited by number? Do you remember how ltc was supposed to be asic proof ?

Bitcoin is far better than litecoin and dogecoin. It is supposed to be the most used cryptocoins among other coins out there. Go for bitcoin, there are also lots of merchants who accept bitcoin rather than doge and lite.

How do you guys define better?

Is it just because it's more used?

What about different technologies that offer better transaction speeds, such as Dash and others?

no not because it's more used, otherwise one can say that fiat is better than bitcoin...

it's because they still pure clone, they only add 1 features that bitcoin miss, but can always be added in the future with sidechain for example

Not necessarily. All altcoin can try some new features. If they are successful, bitcoin can implement that.

Altcoins like dogecoin and litecoin prosper because of bitcoin. They haven't got any juice so to say.
Dogecoin has a big community but that community is getting smaller by the day. It reflects in the price. You can speculate on those coins, but speculation with altcoin is quite risky,
so be carefull.

I won't advice to buy litecoin or dogecoin. They are alts with little to no innovation. No innovation means no new investors, because investors don't waste money on crappy companies/coins that don't think ahead.

Alternative cryptocurrencies are an important extension of the ethos of Bitcoin itself. It is these altcoins that actually guaranty the success of the cryptocurrency revolution. The possibility exists that Bitcoin is flawed, and that the solutions to this flaw have already been implemented in an altcoin, whether it be incentivized nodes, anonymity, proof of stake, governance, incentive or the economic policy, we do not know. Bitcoin is unprecedented in history, nobody really knows where this is going end. I believe in Bitcoin I really do, though even if it fulfills our greatest dreams there will still be a place in the world for altcoins. Not everyone always agrees, we should embrace that, having multiple cryptocurrencies embodies this spirit of freedom.

Well at one time they were innovative: algorithms and special marketing and speed of transaction. Although of course now it does not look so revolutionary.

Litecoin has a faster transaction time, and dogecoin has a larger max coin amount, but bitcoin is the one and only. The original. It has a big community and a (almost) flawless ecosystem.

Their larger max coin amount are compensated by their low rate, though. Lets say that there are 1 million doge to be distributed and there are only 1000 btc to be distributed, the amount of btc:doge exchange rate is still 1 btc for 1000 doge, even less. So i think its not really a good point of difference for doge. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still new to altcoin world and this is just my opinion from a few weeks trying dogecoin.

innovative is an hyperbole, they just add one feature, like monero, ethereum also does not add anything as a currency, the platform on the other hand is interesting, but they could use bitcoin for it

the mini blockchain altcoin(kryptocoin) was interesting though

Its not same, has a different founder different prices and a slightly different technology. :D

If in real world Bitcoin is like a Gold and Litecoin is a Silver. :D
And for dogecoin don't you imagine. :D

Dogecoins were once mentioned to be brass, but they are nothing nowadays...
It's being considered as scam these days, but Litecoins, as said is a different hashing algorithm that takes different technology scrypt in order to get into existence, while BTC uses SHA256 which many are familiar with...

From a far distance they are the same because all of them are used as digital currency
But going deeper in details they do not operate in the same network but similar to that.

The difference between those coins is huge... the hashing algorithm is just an anecdote. DOGE and LTC are just imitations of BTC with small differences to try to justify its existence. Ultimately they are in my book pretty worthless. Most alts are a waste of time and money.

May looking at it, they seem to be the same, but bitcoin is truly different. Bitcoin has more reasons to use and integrity, while altcoins are just some kind of “fake” coins. They are not secured to make use of, many people loose their coins everyday through alt coins.

No, the founders of btc, lite, and doge are different people, I can't recall their name but i believe google could provide you that info if you look for it. About the wallet, the answer is also no, you can't use the same wallet address, but there are wallet providers such as block.io that allows you to store both doge, btc, and ltc under the same account, though you still will given different wallet address for each coin

maybe this can explain, litecoin also like Bitcoin, Bitcoin has an exchange value higher when compared to litecoin, litecoin and Bitcoin can enable instant payments to anyone, anywhere in world but of course only those who have a wallet or bank account of the bitcoint storage. Despite having similarities but litecoin provide faster transaction confirmation (2.5 minutes on average)

dogecoin a digital currency like Bitcoin and litecoin, or commonly referred to cryptocurrency. Dogecoin made by Jakson Mark Palmer with his friend Billy, dogecoin was introduced in 2013 ago. While the name of this dogecoin taken from figures Meme Doge, thats Shiba inu dogs are often used as the butt of jokes in the world of memes. The exchange rate against the dollar immediately skyrocketed dogecoin every few days during the inaugural launch, which rose from $ 0.00026 to $ 0.00099.

Overall acceptance will be the differentiating factor, for now bitcoin is primarily accepted--dogecoin  and litecoin will likely follow.  Ultimately they may impose an age limit in order to determine which altcoins will be accepted, so only after 1-2 years will an altcoin be accepted.  This will give time for any security leaks or fundamental leaks in the system to be corrected.

not only the value/price. the unlimited supply may scare away the traders, which will affect all sort of things like adoption and market cap.

Litecoin is capable of four times as many transactions per ten minute period than bitcoin (given current debate a good feature). Anti-spam is good as well. The faster confirmation times is a nice feature (as a user of both coins the feature I like most usually done by the time I finish my coffee).

it all depends on what you are planning to do with cryptocurrencies. and how you look at them
if you are just in it for a quick buy through trading then all of them are the same
but if you are in it for the technology, then things would get interesting, you have to do a lot of research to find an interesting one.

In a way yeah... they are the same because hey are cryptocurrencies and work very similarly. But in reality they are very different. Starting by the algorithm and by the ammount of coins that ever will be produced they are intimately different

I couldn't agree more with you. Bitcoin has highest quality and value then litecoin or dogecoin.
And I am so sure that the most of cryptocurrencies' s user like bitcoin so much then litecoin or dogecoin.

They are not same as they all have different future vie point and opportunities for their users. But yes they are same in this manner, consider bitcoin the boss and altcoins the workers, if one grows, the other too will surely grow too.

That is not as simple. Look at may-june 2014: BTC rose from 400 to ~700$ and DOGE was constantly getting cheaper at the same time. 2013/14 hype had more factors to be considered.

when you talk about their digital coins are the same. but when you see how the algorithm and the price of each of them then certainly it has many differences.

Dodge is small cap coin, it can be manipulated easily. But we cannot move the price so easily with Bitcoin.

They are all the same on the technical main base, there are some small changes in networks like with Darkcoin but the main theory is the same, I think bitcoin is the core and the other altcoins gain there value just from BTC.

BTC, Doge, and Lite is different. Just like Dollar, Euro and Pound.

They're currency, but the users is different, and their power is different too.

Exactly, and I think bitcoin is the most popular among them, and users of bitcoins are more as compared to dogecoin and litecoin, bitcoin shares wider market cap and user base as compared to other digital currencies.

IMO an altcoin like Doge can never come close to price of bitcoin simply because there is so many of it available and growing everyday!

Of course, and this is not the proper indicator of value of any altcoin.
There are 100.000.000.000 DOGE and 21.000.000 Bitcoins planned to be distributed.
21.000.000/100.000.000.000 = 1/4760 = 0.00021000.

So, DOGE to be as valuable as bitcoin should cost about 21000 satoshi. IMHO it won't be even 500.

They are not the same but what you mean if they are digital money, yes. Bitcoin is the basis of cryptocurrency but dogecoin and litecoin is altcoins.

they were founded at different times but there protocols and network system are very similar, bitcoin is the original and was made first and gets most of the media coverage, litecoin is after it and IMO has nothing particularly special, Dogecoin has faster confirmations and block mining.

They are practically the same regarding the concept and structure with few minor tweaks or improvements from the original bitcoin, they have there negative side effects too though and not just improved copies of bitcoin.

I think the litecoin is almost the exact clone of bitcoin, just the PoW mining algorithm difference. Doge is a clone of litecoin.

technically yes.

However there are minor differences like there are more LTC.

And dogecoin is totally different, because it has infinite inflation, its like a fiat coin.

What btc, doge and ltc got in common is that they're cryptocurrency.

They are all different (mostly).
They have different developers however both use similar programs/code taken from Bitcoin.

Litecoin and Dogecoin use a SCRYPT algoritm for mining.
Bitcoin uses an SHA-256d algorithm or mining.

This means that the coins and software are slightly different to encorporate this.
I think that DoOGECOIN is the most likely to profit now, followed by Bitcoin and then Litecoin.

They are not the same. They have similarities. In terms of holding, you can hold BTC and LTC. As for Dodge, it can't really grow as far as in concerned.

They're all wonderful coins though. Use what you like.

If you follow the doge's price on exchangers, you'll notice that its price has been doubled from around 30 to 60 in the past month. But you're quite right, doge's growth rate is a little bit slow
