If you gonna use non reversible type of payment processor than using localbitcoins would be fine. The only way is to use third party as a middleman - or as we call it escrow. There is no other way to secure conduct trades where both parties are unknown.If you think you trading partner is Trustworthy enough you can always try to go first, but don't do that ever if you are dealing with newbie account. It is a much faster and efficient way of trading as well as eliminating the risk of being scammed.

This is faulty logic. otc and p2p trades work just fine when you use your head for something other than to weigh your body down. Escrow is cheap and/or free here.
