It's already too late to sell. You should have sold at +$450. Currently you're better off holding your coins firmly. The price will go up again. There is no reason for the price to go down.

Why no reason for price to go down? it's already went down 50 usd..

I have seen this quite a bit asking whether to sell on the way down from being at a fairly high level. The choice is yours and you shouldn't let anyone tell you what to do with your own money. If you think it will go up hodl.

If not sell, I think it will go down more before rising in the next few months but I don't know the future.

I meant with there is no reason why the price is going down, that there is no bad news. The sentiment was great. The price is dumped down by large traders that want to manipulate the market and to shake off weak hands.

Statements like this are a great example of why this place is by and large such a toxic shitehole.

I am confident the price will rise again. It's just a matter of time.
Maybe a few months but before the block halving the price will touch the 500 USD mark again.

You can mark my words on this.

You should keep it for now until it goes back up again (soon) and then start selling it. If the impact of halving be even as the trend since past month (overall) then it could go up until the $600 value after the halving so wait a little further, you won't regret  ;)

try to wait some more years and you see, next year is already a good year for bitcoin

Few weeks ago when the bitcoin price doubled i was able to sold what I have at ~$500 then buy again with a lower price but I didn't and I will not, I will keep what I have and wait for a few years when it will reach +1k or more

My rational bet would be sell now buy back around $320.
I got tricked by my gut feeling earlier today..  reminded me not to trade on feelings... emotional trading always ends badly.

If I was at your place was not even thinking to sell at all. This is just a little correction in price and will bounce back shortly. In my opinion price will remain between 410-450 $ for sometimes. What is sure there will be just upward price movement in coming days/weeks so be wise and hold your Bitcoins.

How long have you planned to hold your BTC?
Are you actually in a loss or profit?
Do you know that no one can give you an adequate answer without giving a bit more details regarding your actual situation!
So give us a bit more infos and then I think you will get some accurate hints and suggestions.

I am also still trying to not sell and wait it back to $450

The price should be $600 in January and should be stable in order to make miners 1 years' profit in 6 months before halving, so that they might not get out with any loss and happily continue mining... ;)

The events that are occurring, already indicate that Bitcoins will rise for sure, but how much is not known... :)

that would be nice. once my salary has posted in my bank account i will buy myself another $100 worth of bitcoin. i will do this as long as the price stays under $500. after that i will probably not buy a certain amount of coins each month anymore.

$700 is more than a good price for miners. that gives a mined block of 12.5 btc a value of $8750. do you remember when the price was stuck below $250 for a long time? the difficulty was still going up while the value of a 25 btc block was $6250.  ;)

700 is more than enough for the miners, even for the next halving(2020) let alone this one, it's overkill, this is why "they" are not aiming for such value now

If it goes thousands of dollars then mining will be very much profitable and will be very high at that time.Only chance for it to get low is by bitcoin going under 300's after the halving ,but still there will be conditions.

and i think that it will go up in July, well halving should rise price, also i don't think that we will have any of huge price falls anytime soon, so you can keep your coins and sell when they're expensive

If you can keep for long term like mutual fund for more than 5 or 10 years then 100% the price will be above $1000 , in this mean time if bitcoin comes to mainstream of life then you cannot imagine what price it will go. for some time if you want high then near halving time you can see the price of $600 but be carefull their will be selling pressure so their may be downfall also but  that will be temporary

But that is hard to say. Because you never know what will happen and that is the problem. But we will see and hope for a good result.

Well there is never an gurantee. All of this threads are plain speculation based on potential information.
I am positive there is a big chance the price will rise, but i know in this game there are never any guarantees.

Should I sell my BTC or wait till it goes up and why do you think it will go up?

you can sell them now only if you need money, but if you don't need them asap then save them for later, atleast till halving, then price will rise so you could sell for much larger price

also if you like bitcoin and will sell all of your bitcoins, you will make price even lower, and low price is bad for bitcoin

Indeed, you should only sell them when you real need money otherwise it would not be smart and you will regret it.
The halving is also coming so I think it would not be smart, the price will rise for sure in a couple months.

Expectations can trick us! I won't be so sure in endless rise of Bitcoin.
This needs more money invested and more money will lead to more volatile of price.

We have halving approaching. If that event won't change bitcoin price, then I have no idea what else can push it higher.
I discussing bitcoin price right now is kinda problematic and pointless imo we should wait for the halving and its psychological, and later economic impact it will have on bitcoin soon.

I agree that people might get very disappointed when the price doesn't go up as high as they were hoping for, but they never seem to learn anything from their wrong predictions. It's very simple, Bitcoin will continue to rise if the demand keeps increasing throughout the years. Also, new money must come into the market in order to see the market cap of Bitcoin increase. It may or may not lead to a lot volatility, but volatility will allow traders to make nice profits.

Well if you want just to get more money using bitcoins, then you shouldn't sell when price is low, because you will lose your money, sell only when they're expencice, and yes price will rise now so you should keep them

Sometime i think this can't be good for bitcoin if price changes so frequently.
In this environment business cannot flourish if they want to stay involved in bitcoin.
Or they gonna sell  "service" for bitcoins and take paper money anyway.

Yeah selling at current price wont be profitable enough as the price is not too high at a moment so if you hold at a moment and sell at the time of halving can give you higher profits.

Yes bitcoin will rise at the time of halving as we are seeing slow growth from now, so we can see bitcoin in a better position at the time of halving so its better to hold by that time.

Yes halving will show us some great price of bitcoin which we haven't seen long time So I am expecting a better and higher price of bitcoin at the time of halving.
we all expect get higher price after halving to take a profit but would be nice if price up to $500 before halving.

if there is enough demand throughout the years, then yes, the price will go up. but i think the impact of the block halving on the price will only last for a short time. there will be too much speculation in the price by that time, and we have to get rid of that before seeing a sustainable growth. there will be a lot volatility in the runup to the block halving. smart traders will sell at the right moment as a huge dump is expected.

no don't sale your bitcoin now, wait for halving atleast, you would make a huge mistake if you'll sell them now

and after halving i think that price will go really high, to 800$ if not even more so that's why you should keep your bitcoins for now and sell later only

It wont rise not on this moment. You can see that the value is stable now, and that is quite okay.

No one know what is gonna happen with the bitcoin itself, because the bitcoin is unstable and also unpredictable.
There is a good chance it will rise this year, if it won't it will be very disappointing for a lot of users because they specially invested in the bitcoin before the halving.
Although there is light at the end of the tunnel because the bitcoin will rise soon or later and in my opinion its just all a matter of patience we all need.

Certainly not....how will the value get drop???.....it is 50-50 percent chances whether the price will fall or not..... most of the people are holding the btc to see some changes but if it fall down then people will be losing hope....however it is btc again possibility is very high we may see some good value for the btc after some time.....

on this halving all expect price to go even over 3k i doubt about it if it goes 50% from current value it will be good and to stay on that price

People relying on whales and pumps. This is very dangerous, nobody can tell you exactly what we can we expect when having occurs. Probably long awaited pump but also we can see and dump immediately after.

new users will come when the media starts reporting about bitcoin reaching a new high or when we touch the $1000 price level again. and that might take years to happen. untill that time the media is only spreading negativity to mislead people that don't understand how bitcoin works. and these rookies take everything for granted that comes from the media.

Should I sell my BTC or wait till it goes up and why do you think it will go up?

first of all, you shouldn't ever sell your bitcoins because i am sure that their price will rise, you just have to wait and you will see that

and like i said, price will rise, wait for halving atleast, after halving price should be by 200$ higher atleast

wait for price to go to 900-100$ because you won't get any profit if you will sell when price will be very small

and yes you never should sell your coins when they are so cheap, because you will lose profit and you will probably make price even lower, so that's not really good

Bitcoin cannot rise endlessly without fresh money invested, this can create bubble and this scenario of creating value from the thin air, is saw many times in past. Bitcoin in future will find some realistic value and will keep it, or never gonna be used as money.

There will be time that it will rise, but nobody will know when it will happen and that is the bad thing, we all know that the halving is coming but we dont know if it will rise after that.
It will be nice of course if it can rise after the halving, because the value around this time is now stable so many people are now trading to make some profit with Bitcoin.

I am quite sure that when the block size is increased to 2MB that it will cause the price to go up. It might trigger other traders to keep buying and maybe even cause a bull run to start. It's purely speculating at this point, but I am quite hopeful to see the price increase this year.

It will not rise that fast now, you can see that the value is not rising and that is very bad for the people who already have Bitcoin and is hoping for a good price increase.
People have now to wait a longer time to rise and some of them have not even the patience for it and that can be very bad, just please wait a little longer.

You almost never will be able to predict the direction the price will go.

It might go back to 0, but there is equal (or higher chance) that it might explode. For the time being, the prediction is that the price of bitcoin will be... $422.43... That's why it is trading at this price.

If we could solve the blocksize debate, the price of bitcoin will definitely go much higher...

the hype of the block halving this year has been the biggest hype i have seen for a while. and i think the closer we get to the actual halving the bigger the hype is going to get and the price will rise because of that even if it is slow rise.

Because July is seven/eight months away [§]? Because, while price could rise to nearly $460 in a couple of weeks (January 7, 8 ) it could also fall down to $360 (January 14, 15)? Because the price could go sideways until April 6 [§§], resulting in you missing investment opportunities elsewhere?

Check the date of the OP. If a post ever gives you cause to ask "don't you know anything?" it's generally a good idea to make sure the question you're answering is the question you think it is.

[§] I predict, with a high degree of confidence, replies "explaining" that July is not seven/eight months away.
[§§] April 6 2016 is where my powers of prediction end.

The price being unpredictable doesn't mean it is bad... It's a normal thing that you find in every market.

I think the price will rise to the highest price of the year before the block halving is completed.

My guess is that the highest price of this year will be in the range of $600 before the block halving.

We will see price rise in next couple of months but nothing is permanent in bitcoin, if it rises it can fall back in future too, price ups and downs will always follow bitcoin in future too.

Price rise and seen every day. Bitcoin price goes high than other days as the halving is to happen in few months. The same time bitcoin price falls as there is no assurance.
Provably this is not the right time for the price increase and its just an effect from price dump from other altcoin and i think it will decrease again a little bit if there a new altcoin release with good promises just like ethereum they will be convert their bitcoin into new altcoin,..
And also block halving is too far before the price will rise again until we reach the price 450 above..

tight consolidation after a major rally (end of last year)? seems like a very bullish recipe to me. i've slowly accumulated into full coin at 395-420. won't be shaken out easily. no leverage until range really breaks. looking for >2818 CNY and 431 USD (BFX), and for price to hold above, to consider breakout. go bulls!

We just need to have patient for the halving and consider selling at the end of this year when the price is most likely good.

of course bitcoin price will start rising, in my opinion it will happen really soon because the price has potential to grow right now, the only question is when it will happen and for how long

i think that bitcoin halving will surely make the price grow significantly we just need to wait patiently, i hope that this will allow me to make some good money and become rich

There will be a price rise in the coming halving because if there wont be any price increase then the miners will just stop because running a mine wont be profitable to them.

Bitcoin will rise in the future, but nobody will know what the value will be in the future and when it will rise and that can be a huge problem some people are thinking that it will rise soon.
But I dont think that it will happen, you can see that the value is now stable and that is bad for the halving.

Its not really a pump and dump.

Its just theres going to be more sell orders you see, if they can see the buy orders come in. A pump and dump is entirely different, where the value of the sell orders are all time high a brief moment, which it relies for that one moment.

of course the price of bitcoin will rise even exceed the highest price ever in bitcoin achieved to date.
This may be associated with a halving. if halving occurs, probably bitcoin will achieve the highest price we've never seen  :)

its better to wait don't sell it to early. the value of it will rise not much but if you hold the coins
you've more change to get profit out of it.

There will be a time that Bitcoin is going rise but the time is not now and we have to be also more patience because the value is going to rise soon and that can be also nice for the people who are waiting.
But the most people are mad because the value is not even rising now and they want to make profit fast.

I have a different opinion on why people are mad. I think it's because people post utter crap here. For example, at a point where price has been rising impressively for the past week (http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/okcoinCNY#rg2zczsg2016-04-20zeg2016-04-27ztgSzl) there are - if you can believe it! - people posting stuff like "There will be a time that Bitcoin is going rise but the time is not now... Bitcoin market is unpredictable which also happens to be its strongest point. If we all knew what the price would be after a year then the market will dry out. In order to make profit you need other people to lose money, and that's only possible when the market is unpredictable.

Bitcoin rises and falls everyday. Bitcoin price is dynamic. Many think the price will rise more in the coming months due to the halving, while others think not so much. It may well rise significantly, but can consequently fall significantly as well due to people dumping. And then rise again as people buy after these dumps. And on and on and on. Bitcoin constantly rising and falling.

Maybe.  I read all the comments on here from days ago saying "will certainly rise", "will surely continue to rise", "rise before the halving", etc.  The price has dropped again and is trending overall downwards.  Using all those statements above its great, I actually hope it increases in value and utility as well but there really isn't anything backing it right now and no real reason to increase just yet.  May just hold steady or even decline this year - who knows.

The halving seems a bit priced in already but likely not.  For it, people tend to stick to calendar type deadlines.  It is likely to occur on/around July 11th, thus we could see news stories and such picking up on the halving around June 11th+ leading to increased interests, buying, price increases.  It'll likely drop after the halving again, but maybe not to the old lows...

As a basic user, I think positives will be lightening network full production release, depending on SegWit activation, those being 2017+, and other economic large scale country's failing somewhat and having some movers to BTC.  It just seems to be a manipulated short-term money maker investment until then, led by Chinese exchanges with all the volume.  It'll get up $20-30, then suddenly drop, doing it over and over now.  Ethereum seems to be grabbing headlines lately as well but still has to prove long-term staying power...

true, bitcoin prices will surely rise to the height, now we only need to think about how to collect bitcoin and hold it so that when the price rose to a high, we can sell and make a profit. This probably will not happen quickly, but someday surely bitcoin prices will rise in line with what we predicted in the last days, we just need to wait.

People have now to wait a longer time to rise and some of them have not even the patience for it and that can be very bad, just please wait a little longer.
At the moment the Bitcoin is rising and has almost reached 600 Dollar of I am correct. I want to know what will happen with the price after the halving because it is going to effect it somehow.

The bitcoin price could rise after some more consolidation. The price could rise to around $500 in June.

Chances are very high that all the real action will start in Juli, and till that time the market will remain relatively calm.

I also think that the price increasing will start in July but its still the question if this will really happen, I hope it will but right now we cannot predict this.
Yes i think the price will start up in june/july because like you said in above market looks like calm in couple month never see price can break the big wall at $490.
Bitcoin started already to rise and that is nice for the people who already have Bitcoin but of course it wont be that easy to earn some more money with Bitcoin because you dont even know what will happen in the future.
But it should be nice if you can earn it in a fast time so you dont have to wait that long any more.

The price is around $750 now. It is the highest for 28 months. It could rise further after the July 10 halving.

Bitcoin is rising at a moment and we can expect same in coming days too, so if you are planning to sell your coins, then just hold it for next couple of days to earn extra profits.

Should I sell my BTC or wait till it goes up and why do you think it will go up?
It really depends if you can make some money right now then you have a reason to sell your coins right now. If you want to make more money and wait for a higher price then I suggest that you wait for the price to climb even higher.

Well selling your btc depends on you.  ;D If you earn btc for free like me then feel free to sell it anytime or wait for a higher price for more money. If you bought your btc then maybe wait a little longer.

If you think the bitcoin price will rise, it is better to keep them and sell at a high price. How you earn it is not relevant.

I think the halving can push the price to around $800. Then the block size increase can push the price to $1500.

Just moments before the halving the price experienced a sharp decline from $661 to $620, the panic sell-off was quickly neutralised, and now the price is hovering the $650 mark. History shows that a halving event doesn’t immediately affect the price.

I think that right now although the price is stable at around $600~, in a few weeks the price will start to increase steadily. Not increasing very quickly, but rather $15 a week, that sort of stuff.

Looking forward to it.

Off course the price will rise eventually but right now it's time to see if a major dump will happen. I did expect that but I was surprised it hasn't happened yet.
I guess the whales are upto something. Let's hope it's good.

I think they are waiting for price increase because there is no pump after block halving.. and i think block halving will not affect instantly it takes a lot of time before we will see the price will increase because our supply is already reduce and block reward is 12.5 btc.. and i think we are relaying in demand and supply..

Most miners are still profitable after the recent bitcoin price rise. It is indicated by the rise of the difficulty.

Actually the down movements will make the bullish movement even stronger. Here is the argument: Bitcoin gets more diversified by ownership. Therefore, one owner has less coins and his selling target is therefore higher.
In the future try to get 0.1 btc.... We will be amazed on people who are so wealthy that they own 0.0001 btc so every bit counts that you are able to rake from the poor sellers these days of cheap btc.

It's not that they take more risk, they have got themself a very nice entry point in the market compared to those that enter the market at todays prices. If you look at it from that way, then todays buyers take more risk. But then again, early adopters are early adopter because they spotted the potential of Bitcoin at its very early stage and kept holding with massive gains as result.

If you hold your bitcoins, you do not need to worry about the price volatility. The bitcoin price will rise later.
I totally agree because it has happened several times after prices crashed shortly will begin to rise slowly, and many people have received huge profits from it.

It's odd but my feeling is that the price will go up on the mid or even short term. The markets are silent at the moment, but come september we may see some action again.

According to the most conservative forecasts, the bitcoin price could achieve the $1300-1500 level sooner or later, so I think it is always a good deal trying to accumulate more bitcoins in your wallet while its price still remains at the present levels or lower than $1000.

I don't have any big bias either way. Daily compression says a massive move is coming -- we only get a few of these a year. So I'm just watching the last major pivots and upper/lower BBs on the daily chart to confirm a breakout is happening.

For now, we keep getting chopped around. No fun. :D

That is quite accurate prediction so far. The price has just dropped a few percentage points. It might rise again.

There is no need to worry about the slight price drop. It shall stay here for a few more months, and rise again.

That is the expectation of everybody involved with Bitcoin one way or the other but its still speculation. In my own opinion, until the cause of the downward trend not fully and accurately ascertained then we might only be wishing in each case our wishes might come to pass or might not. I guess now what we need will be verifiable evidence... my 2 cents...

October and September are far away from today and yesterday crash was not a big issue and bitcoin technology is still working better and there is no harm to its technology, so people still have believe and we can say that the price will start to rise sooner within this month and till the end of the year we can say that the price will reach to$1000

Well, you're right, I just hope this year is like that, and it will create a new score for the price of bitcoin. bitcoin price may be $ 1000 + at the end of the year, because if it did, it would really make investors interested in bitcoin, and it will make the first step for bitcoin to get out of the internet

It's already too late to sell. You should have sold at +$450. Currently you're better off holding your coins firmly. The price will go up again. There is no reason for the price to go down.

Why no reason for price to go down? it's already went down 50 usd..

I meant with there is no reason why the price is going down, that there is no bad news. The sentiment was great. The price is dumped down by large traders that want to manipulate the market and to shake off weak hands.
i think there is just a panic selling and nothing else.  i think the people just worried about the fall down and just to avoid a great lost they start selling bitcoin, but i think that is not just p permanent fall down and the price will very soon recover its position, there i think if some is interested to invest in bitcoin i think that is the ideal position to buy bitcoin in such a low price because the price is going to raise again very soon.

people are indeed worried, but they only see the current price drop as something bad. instead of always looking at things from a negative point, you can also see these lower prices as a great opportunity to start buying some coins.

It's slowly moving itself back up, so there's that going for it, which is a good thing so far. It might not be going to the skies but it is definitely moving in a favourable direction and it might start moving faster once the weekend rolls around. Maybe some of the traders will get back and start moving things again, but we'll still be waiting for the traders to decide. Maybe they're all waiting for something?

After a major fall back it will surely rise, that is the nature of bitcoin as we are already a stable market. What comes down must go up and that is what we are witnessing right now as the price is slowly rising and may it continue to rise and will bypass the $600 mark this month alone. Time to sell I guess if we see that price and earn our profits in a short term.

But now you can see bitcoin is not going up, it is going down, because of Bitfinex, but it is for short time period, also bitcoin need some time to recover it, and than after 2 or 3 months bitcoin would be grow very fast. And once again a good time period start for us, where we can make profit for our bitcoins, so it is choice to hold your bitcoins or sell it right now.

Should I sell my BTC or wait till it goes up and why do you think it will go up?

You could invest some of your btc to earn more.  Or you could just keep it and wait for the price to go up.  And it will surely goes up because bitcoin now is becoming famous and more investors are after it.  Bitcoin is the well-known cryptocurrency right now.

$2k can be achieved in the future but we cannot expect to reach there very soon as our primary target should be to achieve the price of $1k and once its done after that anything is possible.

do not think the bitcoin price can reach $2000 in early 2017. The mos like price at the time will be $1000.

The bitcoin price might reach $2000 in early 2017, but after the Bitfinex hack, it will delay by several months.

$2k can be achieved in the future but we cannot expect to reach there very soon as our primary target should be to achieve the price of $1k and once its done after that anything is possible.

I see the information from twitter who is predicting a price of $2k will be achieved end of the year or in 2017. I hope that's true. because this is just a prediction, and there is no guarantee. but it looks unlikely that a very high price can be achieved in a short time.

My prediction for $2k can be achieved in 2020.

May be you are right it will take long time to achieve the price of $2k and I don't see it happening in this year and even if it touches that price in next year, it will not stay there for long term.

I think it will take 15 to 24 months for the bitcoin to rise to $2000. After the introduction of SegWit, it could be faster.

I believe if the SegWit or the Block size increase is implemented, the bitcoin price could be at $2000 in 12 months.

Yes we can expect that price after 2 years from now, as bitcoin is really taking long time even to touch the price of $1k since long time, so our first target should be to see the price of $1k.

SegWit is a step forward and its release has possibly played a role in the current Bitcoin price rise as more people gain confidence that the block size issue may soon be resolved. If the miners adopt this solution, Bitcoin could very well experience another price rise shortly.

We are moving in a positive direction now, price rise has stared and new investors are showing their interest in bitcoin, so we can expect some good price at the end of the year.

The bitcoin price has stablised over the last few days. After a few more days of consolidation, the price will rise further.
Seeing the price at 597 at this moment means that the price will eventually get back to 600 dollar. To have the price settle around that area would mean the new low of bitcoin is 600 dollar.
Suppose we can maintain a 100 dollar increase every year we may well see bitcoin climbing up to 1k at some point.
