Just curious.  I found out through the Economic Policy Journal Podcast.  I was surprised it took me so long to find out about Bitcoin since I have been very involved in economics & computer science for quite some time.

Would love to hear how you found out about Bitcoin.

I was doing a google search looking to my an acct for a website and found someone here selling for Bitcoin.

My first real bitcoin disclosure was from episode 287 of Security Now in February 2011.

I don't watch the show regularly, I just happened across it.  Within hours I was mining with my Core 2 Duo CPU & a Radeon 4870.

10 weeks later, I was running a 4 g/hash mining farm.  :)

First saw it in an article from BBC news. Sounded interesting.

I used to use slashdot a lot.

I stumbled on a site that only accepted bitcoin. had no idea what they were but now that I do I think its a great concept.

Dam. I don't even remember what got me into bitcoin.

Well, I'm really into "security" news etc.
I've read articles about some hacks where vast amounts of Bitcoins have been stolen, until then I did not really know what Bitcoin is,
so I started to dig deeper and deeper...

And here I am.

I saw a TV show on it on ABC, and it kind of piqued my interest.

I've actually known about its existence for a year or so, but I only recently downloaded the client and started researching it.

Read about it in a magazine, though I don't recall which.  I work in cryptography, have a background in law, lean slightly libertarian and consider economics fascinating.  Perfect fit.

A forum I was trying to register for required a bitcoin payment.  Had heard about bitcoins prior to that, but never really looked into it.  There is a ton of info on this website, so I am glad I found it.

Searched for anonymous ways of paying online a couple of years ago but did nothing about it back then.

Remembered the name though.

Now I needed to pay for VIP membership of a usenet search index and they accept only Bitcoin, so I thought it was high time to get started with bitcoin.

i am a U.S. POKER PLAYER that dislikes Zynga, or any form of play money poker game. My love for the game, is renewed! If and when lawmakers in my fubar government, decide to regulate online poker. I will still be using BTC  ;D

"Work in cryptography" fascinating! What exactly do you do?

I remember back in the days of compulsory military service in my country, they used to test all the guys (not me, I'm a girl) to check what they were best suited to do. The absolutely smartest ones got drafted for a bit longer than normal, got a language course thrown in, and did something cryptology related that they weren't allowed to talk about. Exciting stuff and it sits good on their CVs to this day, I think, because everyone knows they scored top on IQ at 18.

I learned about it from some podcast as well quite some time ago but never got into it until recently.

If that's The Good Wife, that was where I first saw it. Didn't believe it was real though until the other day when I read a BBC article saying there is now a real world money exchange for btcoin.

I randomly stumbled upon it on google and watched some youtube videos about it.

Funny thing, I was actually on my way to work 1 morning, stopped to get coffe at the local AMPM and as luck would have it there was a bitcoin on the ground.

Mom always said if i found a bitcoin on the ground it was good luck!

About over 1 year ago, I go to my friends house and him and my other friend are talking about getting rich off of bit mining, or that was at least the plan. I was intrigued and did some research, found it too late to get into bit mining, but kept the thoughts of bitcoin in the back of my mind until recently, and here I am, finding out what I can for investment purposes and perhaps to accept as payment.

I was doing a google search on GPU hardware for WPA cracking when the Popular Mining Cards for Bitcoin appeared, cant forget that day.

Getting into philosophy and anarchism. Introduced by Stefan Molyneux ar freedomainradio.com, but then Adam Kokesh from Adam vs the Man and his new podcast has led to me getting into it much more intensely.

I dont really remember where i first found out about bitcoin, but i know my reaction was like 'Thats too good to be true, that cant work'.
But after seeing more and more i noticed it obviously did work.
Now im a regular user with over 1000 transactions in my BTC client (no transaction under 0.5 BTC) and working on a few bitcoin related projects.

I was actually researching the proof of work concept for preventing email spam called hash cash. And stumbled on bitcoin.

Saw it in the news about a year ago, it didn't interest me that much. Recently I found out more about the mechanics and how bitcoins can be mined by individuals. Ok this stuff is actually quite interesting  ;D

A friend of mine found out about it on hackernews about a year and a half ago and asked me if I thought it was a scam. He started mining; I started buying.

I can't really remember that well. I think heard about Bitcoins by reading a post on some random website I used to go to years ago around when Bitcoins first came out.

I heard about bitcoins through an online mmorg game Dragon's Tale...Its  fun game...

Felt bad for not going to school so started watching some videos regarding linux, coding, security and then stumbled upon BTC. This was like 3 years ago and I didn't imagine it would actually become this big.

Read an article about BitCoin on money.cnn.com. Guy who wrote it didn't know what he was talking about, but it did get me to look into it.

Slashdot here too, maybe a year and a half ago.

I was reading about gold, silver and libertarian stuff when i found an article about silk road. The silk road concept didn't catch my attention but as soon as i read that the site operates with bitcoins i started researching. This was on July 2011. I noticed that the price was in a 'bubble' so i waited. I bought this year in may.

Now i'm trying to develope some projects bitcoin related. :)

Some one on a danish forum created a topic about this new coin and how to mine it.

It got my interest and i started mining my first coins, this was back when the BTC/USD was only ~$7

I first learned about BTC via Slashdot.

A year or so ago I saw something about it on reddit. Reading through the comments and whatnot got me interested, so I started looking into it further. Mind was blown.
