You will get plenty of answers which I guess. Unless you stated if you are looking for online wallet, mobile wallet or desktop wallet.
Anyway I am using Multibit as desktop and Mycelium as mobile wallet.

If we are going to speak about mobile then I think most of people use Mycelium (for Android) , I'm not sure about iOS .
If we speak about the Desktop wallet then I'd choose Electrum since it had the seed that helps you recover your wallet in case of a computer failure or something else .
But if you have the resources (internet speed, RAM etc ...) you should run Bitcoin Core since you will be helping the network and it's more secure I suppose .

I generally tell new users to start out with Coinbase or Circle. Once people get used to buying, selling, and using Bitcoin I tell them to get a wallet they control like Copay. For advanced users, I generally recommend Mycelium combined with a Ledger Unplugged or a Ledger HW.1. For reviews of most of these, check out the review section on my website (https://incorporatingbitcoin.com).

I use Bitcoin Core, it's the only client I trust and feel comfortable to use. It also allows me to run a full node to support the Bitcoin network.

Browse through www.bitcoin.org and check out the different wallets.

Which is the most used? Any ideas? Desktop and Mobile.

In my mobile I have android Lolipop OS. In that I have Blockchain and Coinbase account. Both are very fast and reliable in low network connection as well. In desktop I have Electrum Standard Edition. Electrum Very fast wallet in the market as much I know.If we take multibit or Bitcoincore. This very faster than that.

I would suggest to use desktop wallet, in addition to more secure, its use can not be done without a PC, if you use the wallet of the mobile, it is very easy to plow, and very easy to send bitcoin you have, maybe your friend could send bitcoin you had unknowingly

Bitcoin core and Electrum are my favorite Bitcoin wallets right now. Electrum is fast because you don't have to wait days to download the entire Blockchain. That makes is perfect for beginners.

I think it depends on your personal preferences as well as if you're new to bitcoin or advanced. If you're new, I would say start out with online wallets, just do a little research on what you're looking for in a online wallet. Same goes for offline, desktop or mobile wallets.

Yes Electrum wallet is very good and It is a solid lightweight desktop client, meaning that it does not download the full blockchain. Instead, it relies on servers to do much of the work. It performs well in the bitcoin wallet, It offers the most simple easy-to-use and minimalistic interface of all the online and desktop wallets.

I think that the most used is blockchain web-wallet, its free and its the first for a lot of users that start earning some bits from faucets. After that some sites where you can buy bitcoins like coinbase or xapo, or some exchanges.

Yeah Blockchain always good. I am using mobile application also for blockchain.info in my android phone. Its very convenient for me. and In desktop always go with Electrum Because Its very fast and It can work in less internet connection as well. I used multibit also but that's not very fast like Electrum. Especially doing transaction.

Yes Xapo has some advanced features like vault and bitcoin debit card. More over I use Xapo as my hot wallet for the reason of it does not require for sending payments, which is highly required feature if you in need of sending payments many times per day.

in mobile people mostly use blockchain and mycelium wallet (recommended) i love its features and easy to use functions :) and i am sure everyone does and for desktop people use bitcoin qt wallet but if you want a light weight wallet then electrum wallet will be a good option. in optional i will suggest to have a private key backup , print it on a paper and use it like a paper wallet ir for the cold storage

First of all, you posted your question into the wrong board. Mods should move it to BitcoinDiscussion.

Second, the best Bitcoin wallet depends on the user's favour. I like Multibit and Electrum most, because they do not require to download the full blockchain.

I guess you are a Filipino, due to your name and the bitcoin wallet you've chosen. Yes, Coins.ph wallet would be the best wallet but only for Filipino due to functionality. Coins.ph can be used for cashing out money thru bank transfer, load, game credits, western union etc,. But Coins.ph doesn't let us get into out private key and we can't sign a message on it. That means whenever the site goes down, then even our wallets and bitcoins will be gone too.
For me, the best wallet would be paper wallet which can secure our funds even offline. And let us access it thru different kinds of wallets such as blockchain(desktop) or Mycelium(Android) by the use of private key.

Coinbase is asking you for personal data and I don't agree with that. Blockchain should be the most used one, as it was the first result I could see back in 2013 when I heard about BTC for the first time and there are over 10 million wallets registered there if I remember that correctly. Web wallets like Blockchain or Coinbase should only be used for funds that you don't want to save but to use.

Well I'd recommend blockchain.info for you because it can be used both in mobile and desktop, and it has a wide reputation of being the wallet of choice for everyone, beginners and experienced bitcoiners alike uses it a lot.

Blockchain.info unlike Coinbase allows you to retain control over your private keys, which means that your coins are never in counterparty danger. You don't need to trust anyone to keep honest as blockchain.info does not save your password on their servers anywhere.

But that also means that there will be no way to recover your password if you lose it alongside your email address. So make sure you take good care of that.

For anyone who hold less than 1 btc, I think it's better to use online/ website wallet. Because it's instant and don't need to worry about virus or loosing your device. About the security, it's all done with sms and google authenticator.
But if you are a traveler or mobile person that using bitcoin regularly, I would prefer to recommend mobile wallet.

And maybe someone want to know this information
Types of wallet :
1. Online bitcoin wallets. Wallets that can be accessed on the web from any internet connected device.
2. Bitcoin hardware wallets. Physical devices designed to secure bitcoins.
3. Software wallets. Wallet applications downloaded to your phone, computer or tablet.
4. Paper wallets. Bitcoin private keys printed from an offline computer.

The opinion you have can be considered that web wallets were popular in times of mobile devices is not yet present to access the internet, but looking into bitcoin wallets this modern days for mobile is available to be downloaded by through free services at google. That's why i believed coins.ph and blockchain conquered deeper of it's biggest market thoughout the entire country's services using didtal currency exchanges , and gladly they are affiliated with banks here in the country for cash out from wallet to fiat cash money.

Maybe yes maybe no. Taking me as an example my first wallet was a web one. Because nobody learned me anything about cryptocurrencies and that was the more easy way to store my first satoshis from faucets. After that I tested a mobile wallet only to check if it was appropriate for my needs but I gave it up because I had the opportunity to 'pair' my web wallet with my smartphone so it is more handy for me to control only one wallet in two different machines. At last, when I signed in this forum and I learned some about wallet security and reliability i went with desktop solution and now I trust most of all my desktop electrum wallet because I own the private keys and nobody else. But the web wallet can't provide you a more security. And i think SPV or dekstop wallet is the best choice in my mind. XAPO is bad in my experience. I guess just try to use the dekstop wallet. and it will give more guarantee for your amount.

I used three wallet and I'm sure these wallet are secured and easy to use.
1. Blockchain wallet- this wallet have authentication when you open wallet and that's good because no one can open your account except to you.
2. Coinbase- this wallet have vault and very safe because when the hacker open your wallet in coinbase he cannot open you vault because they different password. They have also 2fa.
3.coins.ph - Asia's wallet and my country wallet. I like this wallet because the website sent me confirmation code in my mobile number when someone tried to open my account.

As far as i know there are over ten millions wallets hosted in Blockchain and over 6 millions on coinbase. So i think it can be  right to say that both are the most used in the bitcoin community. The problem is that it's really impossible, in my opinion, to compare with others web based wallets or bitcoin client... It could be interesting to see accurate statistics about this but as say i think it's near impossible to get it. Generally most people starting with bitcoin, start with a web based wallet, and if they continue or not using bitcoin they still have their web baseed wallet as you can't delete your account

Mobile wallet or web wallet is being commonly used because its easy to use and theres no hassle on creating one. As a begginer mostly will start on creating web wallet because it is suggested specially on small transactions of bitcoin but if we are already talking about big amounts of bitcoin then desktop or hardware wallet would be the best wallet among them all.

It's alright to using Web wallet to store small amount of Bitcoin but for huge usage better to use desktop wallet for security matter. Indeed, web wallet has a big risk because close their service but with such reputation that's very hard to close that.

It's alright to using Web wallet to store small amount of Bitcoin but for huge usage better to use desktop wallet for security matter. Indeed, web wallet has a big risk because close their service but with such reputation that's very hard to close that.

advantage use web wallet without syncronize wallet
easy and instant can use, after register youre addres is ready use, web wallet is support use private key is safe, you can open youre wallet addres is anytime anywhere use private key

I'm used blockchain over a year and I trust him alot. I'm also split my bits into my local exchanger so if something bad happen on blockchain, I have other back up for my bitcoin wallet.
I'm wonder myself why I trust only blockchain although there are many good online wallet to such as coinbase etc

But the web wallet can't provide you a more security. And i think SPV or dekstop wallet is the best choice in my mind. XAPO is bad in my experience. I guess just try to use the dekstop wallet. and it will give more guarantee for your amount.
You are correct, but at first a newbie in the world of bitcoin probably is going to care more about convenience than security when trying to open their first wallet, and that is why I think web wallets are probably the most popular of all the wallets, if you want security a hardware wallet or a paper wallet seems like the best choice.

The type of wallet I use most often is Coinbase. Actually, I did not use a Coinbase purse right from when begin that I used Blockchain. Due to Blockchain transaction fees being too high, I switched to Coinbase. It is quite easy to use, the transaction costs are quite low and does not seem to have. However, at present, its transaction speed is quite slow and security is not good. I am intending to switch to a desktop purse like the Electrum, I heard that it is quite good and security is good. Electrum also has a version for the phone. In the future, I will use the Electrum purse to make it safer :D

web wallets are good for newbies but when you have live in the Bitcoin world long enough, you will realize how stupid and awful it can be. many of my friends have lost money and Bitcoin from Coinbase and they never want to return to it anymore. Moreover, Coinbase like to hold transactions and do not send it immediately. Therefore, it will cause a lot of troubles to users when they need to send fund urgently

Multibit, and I have blockchain, and I have even xapo cause they still don`t have fee`s, but its just for fun and satoshis that I still collecting from several faucets just for fun. I think there is no everyone here have couple wallets, for keeping, everyday use, or some special wallets for special purposes, when you think about it there is similar number of desktop and web wallets, cause of that fact, everyone have both of them, and all the newbies use online wallet, so maybe there more online wallets, but that is just guessing.

There are two types of wallets, there are cold wallets which is offline and online po. Ginamit KO ngayon ay ang mycelium wallet which is cold in my android device. I used also online wallets but for cashout only. I choose mycelium as the one of the best of them all because it was the most secured wallet. It is also good to use pc on wallets because it has a big screen and I am compatible to use pc but I didn't have pc.

In terms of security desktop wallet is better than the web wallets. The reason is that placing our funds in a web wallet is same as that being in the hands of a third party. With desktop we have the access, but ease of accessing is possible through web wallets.

Any reasons you stop using XAPO wallet? Because I'm using this wallet for last three years and so far it is quite good and most of the transactions are quite fast and no need pay the fee for sending money. XAPO is good for a daily transaction but longer term saving your coins you can store in some offline wallets.

Yes, I do use web wallet (with the mobile app too) for my transactions. I am thinking to try desktop wallet or trezor wallet soon but not sure if it would give a better experience. As I don't have many transactions in short frequency, I think it is fine to go with web wallets for higher amount transactions.

people often make a mistake when using mobile wallet so it's better to stick on desktop wallet. i don't recommend blockchain because it has so many bad reviews and currently blockchain users got their transaction stuck, however, offline wallet is better than online.

There are lot of wallet in online like coinbase, blockchain and many more. Using bitcoin wallet will help you to secure all your bitcoin and you can use your wallet in any kind of transaction like paying bills, buying items in online market and many more.

Downloading bitcoin core wallet is not a good idea because there is a lot of desktop wallet that is available and doesn't require too much space like the Mycelium which i used for a bit long and it is very comfortable to use and you can secure your money or bitcoins there by having a back up for your private key and you don't need to worry about your funds anymore.

You're mostly right. Since having a wallet on a desktop or USB gives you complete control over what you're trying to do and how to keep it secure, it is definitely one of the best things you can do.

As for what wallet you should use, it depends on the space and time available but Multibit is ok for small amounts of Bitcoin, however something like electrum would be good for a very secure desktop wallet, in my experience.

Well this was about to happen one day. The transaction fee is increased a lot more and i dont think XAPO or any other company now can afford to bear the TX fee. Coinbase has already started taking the fee from users too and now i think no service exists which offer free tx fee.
Most of the people dont like the descion of XAPO but comon, XAPO has provided us the free service for quite a lot time and now its just out of their expenses to continue to do to.

xapo now charge fee for every transaction is very unfortunate indeed no more service without fee and perhaps with their decision there will be many of xapo users start to leave it.

In the next couple of days, all Xapo users will begin to pay the miners fee themselves in order to send transactions out of Xapo.

All of the wallet will take the fees to deliver your transaction or your transaction gets stuck on the bitcoin network. In this day you must pay worth $2 for every transaction which really expensive in my mind.

I think that is one of the good wallet for now. But still i pick our local bitcoin wallet which is coins.ph great security and features.
today they have a new announcement, they are now going to get transaction fee on sending bitcoin to other types of wallet. they are arguing that they are not going to get the tax but it will be use for the making the transaction process more faster, i think n next few days the result about this will become more clear.

Quote
In the next couple of days, all Xapo users will begin to pay the miners fee themselves in order to send transactions out of Xapo.
XAPO made a big mistake that started to charge for transfers. I'm sure they have seriously reduced the number of customers. Now a lot of people tend not to spend their bitcoins and they could try to make money to keep the service free.

I am enjoying coinbase. It is user friendly and can be used on both platforms desktop as well as phones. Most advantageous thing about it is, it asks you only for email verification each time you logging. This is important when it comes to time limit. On other hand there are many wallets which asks you for your private key or keystone to access your bitcoin address which makes it very difficult to logging fast. So you can choose your wallet personally as per your need. There are plenty of them out there.

Used too much of the trading websites now. Because of the different movements in different coins that I invested it is like almost all my funds are out and there is just a little left with my online wallets.  ;D
If this continues I might be risking a lot of coins, well it is better than profiting nothing waiting for a larger price. Besides, it is the same at those trading sites.

Coinbase looks good, but if you have ex Russian IP address they don't allow you to buy / sell anything. It's strange, because Bitcoin status in Russia is the same as in USA or Germany. Some other countries are also affected - https://www.coinbase.com/global?locale=en

Well it seems really hard to determine which type of wallet is the most used probably some people are using two different types at the same time especially those who are holding a huge amount of bitcoin while having some amount ready for spending and some people are only using mobile wallet which is ready for any transactions . In my situation since I am not a big time bitcoin user or holding such huge amount of bitcoin I am using mobile wallet for android which can already provide some services that can be paid either by using my local currency or by bitcoin .

It looks strange for me. It's not good for everyone to keep his money on there.

It really depends on who and where are you asking from. Because right now I know for a fact that some Local Bitcoin Wallet Providers are more popular than the international ones like Coinbase. Some Local Providers have more advantages like in-app Bitcoin Conversion from Buying to Selling and Using Bitcoin as a way to pay utility bills. You might have several answers with your question. Also mostly wallet providers have app version of their wallets in which you can use in your mobile phone.

i am having this experience in the past and from that, i am moving into another btc wallet service and now i think i am comfort to stay with market exchange like polo, bittrex before i send it into my personal wallet like jaxx, mycelium, coinomi, and else. i am too confusing with the interface from blockchain.info itself and this is why i am moving with the other.

Have you tried to identifying your transaction. Or try to use accelerator to make your transaction gets confirmed. Can you give your TXID? I may think if you can try CPFP method. it will make you pay higher fees for the second transaction and make your the first gets confirmed for automatically.

I too was using blockchain.info for long time. Haven't encountered any flaws and the confirmation too is quite fast if you go with the auto fee option. And when manual fee is placed, based on what's provided the confirmation takes place.

Already discussed many times. The better question is which bitcoin wallet is most secure?

The most secure wallets are the ones that are offline. Although some online wallets are also secure but you should be careful in choosing one. Some online wallets had manipulated by third parties so your bitcoin is not really safe, one of those is coinbase.
In the other hand, when using offline wallets try the electrum, it is a desktop wallet. So from the word itself, " offline ", nobody will be able to tract or hack your account. It can be downloaded to your pc, phone or tablet.

Well, it is the ease in the bitcoin is we can save in mobile. So that we can make transactions wherever, as long as we still have internet network. Just wait until we can find out and get many advantages in excellence, but it is bitcoin it still takes a lot of time so that now we have to focus on getting the bitcoin.Be a person with high spirit and perseverance in getting something beneficial. I personally use the electrum desktop wallet for my storage of bitcoin. It's extremely lightweight and is pretty solid. I wouldn't store too much bitcoin on your phone, the popular wallet Jaxx has been hacked and users have lost over 400K worth of cryptocurrency. So your best options are electrum or a solid hardware wallet. A physical wallet is always the better option if you're going to store a lot of bitcoin on a wallet.

There are many online wallets that you can use to keep your bitcoin safe and secure. Once the people buy or get a bitcoin they would find a thing that they can use to keep it in a long time. Some people use online and offline wallet to store their bitcoin; however the best wallet for me is online wallet because I think this will keep my bitcoin safe and totally secure.

Ok so you rely on web wallets. Even I to cater my daily transactions need use web wallets. Its much easy to handle web wallets as one need not worry about pvt keys, etc., simply remember email and password and use your Bitcoin.
Ok, your above is suspicious. In real sense Bitcoins are not yours. You just represent Bitcoins own by company and if company decides to run off, you can't do anything except repenting. So such risk is always there.

I support your explanation and Electrum desktop wallet such a good option for storage of bitcoin. Mostly, If you are dealing with large amounts of bitcoins you will need a secure wallet. Im disagree. How do you say the Blockchain is far the most used bitcoin wallet? Any kind of things to support your claims? I don't see that majority here is using blockchain. And about transaction fee, almost all wallets are having a high transaction fees right now so kinda non reasonable if that is the problem.

With massive demands of bitcoin today, we are having higher fees and wallets have nothing to do with that. And what is the point disabling sending multiple payments for customers to leave a wallet? Really a lol thing you got there.

Actually you need to expand your question because in this world multiple types of the people are existing , so using different different type of wallets for different different platforms .
I personally uses blockchain.info for the mobile , pc web also because blockchain.info is really a cool wallet with which we can send our Bitcoin with the custom fee . And also available at the Android , and also have the import and export any numbers of the Bitcoin address and have no limit to create Waller's with single email id .
And also no one can reset the password and also a options of the secondary password .
But besides of this official wallet you can try mysellium wallet and core wallet also ( Bitcoin core ) but after create the wallet export your private key and put at the safe place .

Online wallets or other desktop wallet we can use any kind of wallet. As of now, we are facing issue in transaction fees only in the wallet. For security reason, we can prefer bitcoin core, multibit or xapo. Enable two factor authentication for secure transactions.

That's the weakness, the increasing transaction costs make it all hampered. Many people are considering that shipping costs are quite expensive. It is actually all inexpensive, but nowadays there are frequent delivery delays, so increasing the fee is the best way to send every transaction. For security issues I am sure all wallets must have good security, most important is we always keep our personal account safely.

Yes true, besides the wallet blockchain also highly trusted users also had a lot of bitcoin using bitcoin wallet. bitcoin can also be accessed via the android in order to simplify transactions for checks and easy also to receive and send the transaction. so it will be easy to carry anywhere and can see the needed information at any time. with this application will make the user comfortable bitcoin wallet, namely blockchain.

To be honest I had to create an online Bitcoin wallet, because having a Bitcoin wallet application, I'm not sure that it will work adequately. Something I can not understand how well applications run on different operating systems. But online wallet on a certain site I am more or less satisfied. There are only risks that I worry about.

If you really worry about the risk why not use the blockchain web wallet? I think blockchain web wallet is one of the safest wallet to store many bitcoin online and one of the most trusted. Even if that is the case it is safer to use wallet applications sometimes where you have complete control over your private keys but for now understand how they work or run on different operating systems.

Yes I agree with that.
I use both online and offline wallets. Online wallet for my everyday transaction and offline wallet for my savings.
Its better you do as savings account the offline wallets, not prone to hackers and other evil doings.
It also a backup one. Same as you, I love using electrum. Others should try it too.

There is nothing wrong in using the mobile Bitcoin wallets for small trade and purchases. But I wouldn't recommend storing significant amounts of coins in such wallets for long duration (especially if the mobile operating system is Android). As per my understanding, mobile wallets are some of the least secure storage for Bitcoin out there.

I believe that the most Bitcoin wallet being used is a mobile one. This is because mobile is much more portable than desktop. Well there are laptops out there that are highly portable but mobiles are far too portable that laptops. We can even fit a phone inside a pocket so a mobile wallet is more practical as a Bitcoin wallet that desktop wallets.

Blockchain is by far the most used bitcoin wallet, but the tide is shifting mainly due to their high transaction fee and their recently disabling the ability to send bitcoins to lots of people will make them lose customers.
Yeah no wonder there are many users who migrate from blockchain to other wallets. Because they do not find comfort as when used to use blockchain. Fees are getting higher, even now the function to send bitcoin to many addresses is gone, of course it will make the user go

If you are talking about blockchain web wallet then even the fees is  not that high, you should migrate to another wallet because that wallet is risky because of the things that might happen like a massive hack attempt that can be successful and steal all the bitcoins there so it is best to use other wallet which is a lot safer like mobile or desktop wallets and if you have money then buy hardware wallets and if you want to store for a long time but you want to save money at the same time then print paper wallet.

Disagree here where did you get that information? You will just noticed that there are many users on Philippines using coins.ph but not as their main wallet. No doubt that withdrawals and converting to cash using their service is hassle free but to the point that many people here will treat that as their main wallet, I see no.

Look outside of the window and you will see what I mean here. You are surrounded by coins.ph user and try to tell them if that is their main wallet.

I'm convinced that using several Bitcoin wallets gives a very effective effect. Imran desktop purse can be used for storage, and for more active actions you need to use a web purse. For the sake of safety, you do not need to think about the percentages on a transaction.

I heard that coins.ph from my filipino friend and he said that it is a good wallet for bitcoin and it is just like coinbase which offers fiat deposit and also withdrawals directly to the bank with a verification required. I am using electrum for bitcoin storage because it is safer than blockchain web wallet because of the possible attacks that may occur because of the volume of bitcoin and users there.

Web wallets are easy to use but their security is not the best. Most people use mycelium, it is easy to use and maybe the best mobile wallet, there may be better ones, but I have used a few, it works fine without too much problems. I recommend saving the bulk of your coins on a desktop wallet application downloaded to your computer, for safe keeping. Like armory, bitcoin core, electrum, multiBit HD, then transfer a fraction to online or mobile wallets for ease of use.

Google can help you. There are already lots of useful information about bitcoin wallet on the internet.

If you are eager to learned, the first thing you will do is to seek information by yourself. To give you some insights about your concern, storing bitcoins on web wallet is out of your control but it doesn't mean that you don't have to used them. But since you are doing regular withdrawals, then web exchange is fit for that needs. Just don't used them for now until "the current drama" ends.

Because blockchain is so popular, blockchain users are huge and many of them also advise new users to use blockchain wallets. Then this continues for many years so in the eyes of new users the blockchain wallet is the best. But there are many other wallets

Blockchain has grown a lot over the past few years. They’ve been support to the bitcoin community and making improvements.

Many can you used as a bitcoin wallet you can use mobile or desktop wallet me i used electrum to stored my bitcoin. And you can even search what is most used it here in bitcointalk. And search for what is the best for you.

that is right, electrum is the one of example, the other android wallet you can use is mycelium, jaxx, coinomi, coinpayment with supporting for multi wallet. using wallet for desktop is good too as you can use it directly in your computer or laptop. but remember, you need to always keep your private keys save from other people to prevent the bad thing that might be happen.

First the user prefers the online wallet because it is more flexible, then the most widely used and the very first there is blockchain. So many people prefer to use blockchain. But by the end of this there are many blockchain users who came out because of its policies like removing the facility to send to many addresses

I think it depends upon the person to person that what are the requirements he has .
Here my most of friends like the desktop version of the blockchain and also they like to use Bitcoin core because they can send multiple address at once selection easily , so they like much than any other wallet .
Beside of these wallets I like the mobile app version of the blockchain app and usually use for the transaction where I need to send the Bitcoin with very low fee ( custom fee option ) .
I am asking using the mysellium wallet which have the quality of the import and export and easily create new address , so mostly I am using for normal transaction ( for professional purpose ) is mysellium .

I think I have read one user here who said multibit will be losing its support for I dont know where.
But he had transferred his private keys to electrum now.
I prefer Electrum with android and windows supported. It makes everything convenient and I feel more safer there.

For dealing with coins and for their storage yes electrum is one of the favorable wallet recommended so far. It is quite easy and make your saving safe. Good thing is not complicated at all. And yes there is another wallet for safe and secure storage, trezor, after a friend's suggestion, I start using it. So far so good.

I did notice most of the people here are using only one wallet at a time. But my strong recommendation will be, store your bitcoins in more than one wallet. It is applicable to both web wallet and stand-alone wallet users too.

Yeah syncing is nice to have. But it is also super unsecure. This means that hackers can hack your account especially if you use the same passwords over and over again. Second thing to worry about is that you do not control the private keys of your wallet, hence there is chance your online wallet is the one that got hacked and gets the private keys of their wallets hence your account is at risk.

I have a Ledger Nano S and have been happy with it so far. It was super user friendly to set up and user friendly during the fork.

I bought it in the first place because it was well-endorsed and it has worked well for me so far.

But as has been said before, and will be said, again and again:

MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP AND SECURE YOUR RECOVERY PHRASE

With the Ledger Nano S you cannot miss this. It is the piece of paper that says, fittingly, Recovery Phrase.

Having this is the most important thing. If you lose or break your Ledger Nano S then you just get a new one and use the recovery phrase.

So make sure you store the paper with the recovery phrase on it in a safe place (or better yet, make a second copy and store that elsewhere too).

That doesn't matter whether it has phone and desktop access what matter is security of you wallet and ease of access to your personal life. Wallets are important because they hold your money and they are very important when they hold very big amount of money.

I'm always using wallets for which I hold the private keys, without private keys no one can access the wallet and not even the service provider. This reduces the risk of loosing your money due to idiotic hackers and Trojans obviously. They are every where and security is first concern that must be checked while choosing the wallet, and not the phone app or desktop app.

I have no idea which wallet is most used, but it would probably be a desktop wallet like electrum. Both electrum and Bitcoin core is widely used. Moreover, other wallets like online wallets are also widely used, Mainly for convenience. However, in truth, such a wallet is not known for its security. If you are looking for a good wallet, I would suggest that you use electrum. Electrum is an amazing option. Unlike Bitcoin core, you don’t need to dedicate your entire desktop space for your wallet. It is a secure option that is widely utilised by many people. I use it myself and I would completely endorse it.

There are a lot of different types of Bitcoin Wallet that are recommended to be used in bitcoin, now it is up to you what wallet you would prefer among the others. But first, what is a Bitcoin Wallet?

Bitcoin wallets contain private keys; secret codes that allow you to spend your bitcoins. In reality, it’s not bitcoins that need to be stored and secured, but the private keys that give you access to them. In short: A Bitcoin wallet is simply an app, website, or device that manages Bitcoin private keys for you.

Now, here are some types of Bitcoin Wallet and the recommended wallets under these types:

1. HARDWARE WALLET
A hardware wallet is a physical electronic device, built for the sole purpose of securing bitcoins. The core innovation is that the hardware wallet must be connected to your computer, phone, or tablet before bitcoins may be spent. The three most popular and best Bitcoin hardware wallets are: Ledger Nano S, KeepKey, Trezor. Hardware wallets are a good choice if you’re serious about security and convenient, reliable Bitcoin storage.Bitcoin hardware wallets keep private keys separate from vulnerable, internet-connected devices. Your all-important private keys are maintained in a secure offline environment on the hardware wallet, fully protected even should the device be plugged into a malware-infected computer. Hardware wallets are secure, offline devices. They store your private keys offline so they can't be hacked. This means you can even use one on a malware infected computer. Hardware wallets aren't free. But the price can be worth it if you own a significant amount of bitcoins. A hardware wallet will protect a few hundred in Bitcoin just as effectively as a few million.

• Ledger Nano S
The Ledger Nano S is the cheapest of the three hardware wallets with a screen; it costs about $65. Ledger, one of the most well-known Bitcoin security companies, released the device in August 2016.

• TREZOR
TREZOR launched in August 2014 as the first Bitcoin hardware wallet, offering secure bitcoin storage plus the ability to spend with the convenience of a hot wallet. TREZOR is a small, thumb-sized device.

•KeepKey
KeepKey was released in September 2015 and was the second hardware Bitcoin wallet to offer a screen. The KeepKey's larger screen gives it some extra security features that the Nano S and Trezor lack.

•Ledger HW.1
The Ledger HW.1 can be considered a budget hardware wallet. It doesn't have a screen, so it isn't quite as secure as the three options mentioned above. It will, however, give you more security than a hot wallet.

2. HOT WALLETS
Hot wallets are Bitcoin wallets that run on internet connected devices like a computer, mobile phone, or tablet. As hot wallets generate private keys on an internet connected device, these private keys can’t be considered 100% secure.

3. Online Bitcoin Wallets (Web Wallets)
Web wallets store your private keys online, where they are encrypted with a user-selected password. Although they offer the lowest level of security, online bitcoin wallets have the advantage of being accessible from any internet connected device.

•GreenAddress
GreenAddress is a multi-signature Bitcoin wallet available on the web, desktop, Android, and iOS. GreenAddress is compatible with hardware wallets like TREZOR, Ledger Nano, and the HW.1. “Multi-signature” in this context means that the site requires a manual confirmation from you for your coins to be moved; this greatly improves security.

4. Android Bitcoin Wallets
There is a large selection of Android wallets. Since Bitcoin wallets were originally banned by Apple, developers spent much of their time developing for Android.

•Mycelium
Mycelium is the most popular Bitcoin wallet on Android. It's very easy to use for sending and receiving payments. Backing up your wallet is also simple, since Mycelium makes it very clear with setup and backup instructions.

•breadwallet
breadwallet, the great iPhone Bitcoin wallet, recently released an Android wallet. It offers the user control of private keys, an easy to use interface, and passcode support.

•Copay
The Copay Bitcoin wallet is also available for Android. It's easy to use and offers many advanced features that offer great flexibility.

•Airbitz
Airbitz is an easy to use Bitcoin wallet for iPhone and Android. Its familiar login feature makes using the app a breeze for people new to bitcoin. The wallet also creates automatic backups, so you don't have to worry about the technicalities of performing manual wallet backups.

•GreenBits
GreenBits is the native Android version of GreenAddress. It’s a multi-signature wallet that also supports hardware wallets like TREZOR and Ledger.

•Bitcoin Wallet
Bitcoin Wallet, or “Schildbach Wallet”, was the first mobile Bitcoin wallet. Bitcoin Wallet is more secure than most mobile Bitcoin wallets, because it connects directly to the Bitcoin network. Bitcoin Wallet has a simple interface and just the right amount of features, making it a great wallet and a great educational tool for Bitcoin beginners.

5. iOS and iPhone Bitcoin Wallets
Apple banned Bitcoin wallets from the App Store in February 2014, but reversed its decision a few months later. Luckily, there are now plenty of options for iOS users.

•breadwallet
We consider breadwallet, along with Copay (below), as the best bitcoin wallet for iPhone. It’s open source and gives the user full control over their private keys. It also has a clean interface which makes the sending and receiving of bitcoins a pleasurable and super-simple process.

•Copay
Copay Bitcoin wallet is BitPay's open source wallet. It can be used across multiple devices, since Copay is available for Android, Windows Phone, iOS, and all desktop platforms. Among many other great features, it's easy to create multiple accounts so you can have separate wallets for your business and personal funds.

•Airbitz
Airbitz is an easy to use Bitcoin wallet for iPhone and Android. Its familiar login feature makes using the app a breeze for people new to bitcoin. The wallet also creates automatic backups, so you don't have to worry about the technicalities of performing manual wallet backups.

6. Desktop Wallets
Desktop wallets are downloaded and installed on your computer. If privacy is your main concern, the Bitcoin core wallet is a good option since it does not rely on third parties for data.

•Electrum
Electrum is a light weight Bitcoin wallet for Mac, Linux, and Windows. Electrum was created in November 2011. The main features of Electrum are: support for hardware wallets (such as TREZOR, Ledger Nano and KeepKey), and secure Bitcoin storage using an offline computer. Electrum is a good option for both beginners and advanced users.

•Copay
Last, but not least, Copay is also available on desktop. Its desktop app gives you the ability to manage your hardware wallets, along with all of the other features mentioned above.

As for me, I'm currently using Coins.ph because I am based in the Philippines and so far it is the best, most trusted and easiest Bitcoin Wallet that I can access. Each wallet has pros and cons, and different wallets are built to solve different problems. Some wallets may be geared towards security, while some wallets may be more focused on privacy. Your specific needs should determine the wallet you use, as there is no “best bitcoin wallet”.

I'm acknowledging the source/sources where I got these informations even though there won't be any citations. Thank you!

Mobile wallets? That’s what I also make use of. Thought I was a different person here lol. Well, most wallets including mobile and computers are safe depending on how you make use of it. You’ve got to choose ones with advanced security, like 2fa. I like how Coinbase made their login– you first have to confirm it through email. Though it’s faulty 90% of the times.

Every people has its own way of feeling comfortable and based on you, you are comfortable to put your bitcoin in your mobile wallet because you always bring your phone with you but you need to remember to always have a back up so you can be safe for the possible worst case scenarios and also learn to diversify your funds into different wallets so you cannot lose all of your bitcoin if something goes  wrong with your main wallet.

Hello
Well there are certain points that you need to remember before you ask an answer to this question.

1. Mainly the wallet that will work best for you will be the one that will be linked to your bank account and will be able to convert your bitcoins directly to your home currency.

2. For that to happen you must first think about stating your country , because there are certain wallets that works universally but according to me in every country there is a specific designed wallet that works best according to the situation of that country.

3. For example: I use zebpay.
It converts btc directly into ₹ thus am able to redeem all that in my bank account thats linked with it and it roughly costs me only 10₹

4. Also there are many universal bitcoins wallet but then again, cost of transfer in them is preety high, thus You will need to forst recieve payment in your wallet and then shift to your locally accepted one.
So I think you should try and explore your answer according to your country.
Thank you

It depends on the user, so we cannot tell what bitcoin wallet is the most used, and also it depends on the country I guess. Because here in my country, me and my friends used the same wallet online which I think is the most popular online wallet here in my country. It was good because it offers many many things. But it is not important how popular the wallet you are going to used, as long as it is secure and easily accessible, I'm on it.

Every hardware is at risk of different viruses and malware as it always depend to the users. Electrum and bitcoin core are solid wallets where you can have no doubts of their security but the thing here is you need to take a look at yourself on how you'll make your wallet safe. Our desktops and laptop's are prone to any virus and harmful software if we will not use it properly. Ether wallet is good for alt coins and it's different from bitcoin wallet.

Currently blockchain and coinbase is still a trusted wallet, no need to worry because they always do system maintenance with a more complicated level of security when compared with purses that use private key, do not need to worry too much with the web-wallet because the developers always give the best to the user .

Which is the most used? Any ideas? Desktop and Mobile.

The most used wallet is desktop and web wallet but this is just my guess since there is no statistics on how many people and the percentage of people that are using these wallets. But it's popular that people are using the same desktop wallet like electrum, bitcoin core and for the web wallet, the most popular one is blockchain.info and some others are choosing to use hardware wallets for storing their bitcoins.

are those wallets are safe from any kind of viruses? because i heard that some wallets has a virus...what about ether wallet? what kind of wallet is that?
Wallets are secure and there will be no major attack of viruses because security algorithms are designed clearly for the user reliability because people are putting their whole saving in it so organization is keen to provide them unbreakable security and yes ether wallets are also good and also secure and riskless to invest and there will be no hacker from deep web who can break them.

The best wallet will depend on your intended use. If you have a lot of Bitcoin, your wallet with your personal information is always the safest method. But online travel is better because you are constantly traveling for entertainment or work.

I suggest u to use BITCOIN WALLET,  Have your Bitcoins always with you, in your pocket! You pay by quickly scanning a QR-code. As a merchant, you receive payments reliably and instantly. Bitcoin Wallet is the first mobile Bitcoin app, and arguably also the most secure!

No registration, web service or cloud needed! This wallet is de-centralized and peer to peer.
Display of Bitcoin amount in BTC, mBTC and µBTC.
Conversion to and from national currencies.
Sending and receiving of Bitcoin via NFC, QR-codes or Bitcoin URLs.
Address book for regularly used Bitcoin addresses.
When you’re offline, you can still pay via Bluetooth.
System notification for received coins.

I am using mobile wallet. Because I usually go bitcoin thru my mobile phone, since I started bitcoin, I do use mobile phone until now. I prefer this because its more convenient for me cause I always bring my phone with me.

The most important thing to check before you download wallet is to make sure that it is an open source wallet( the code for the wallet is well known and is public, has been checking and verified).
If the wallet is open source and is well known, you can be sure that it will be safe.
The 2nd thing to check would be if the wallet supports segwit addresses(so you won't need to pay high fees), and the 3rd thing to check is if the UI design is comfort, some designs wouldn't make it possible for the average person to use.

For me the best wallet I've ever used is coins.ph because this wallet is very trusted and legit. This wallet also is the one that is suitable in our country, so if you are from Philippines coins.ph is the best among others wallet.

I think mobile is better because it can be used whenever i want to use it. But everyone is certainly different that they think the desktop is better on mobile appeal. Yes of course, although mobile is still vulnerable to hackers who really want to hack your mobile phone. If on the desktop may be more difficult if your pc is indeed safe.

From my personal view, each and every user who has been into bitcoin usage have got a blockchain wallet. By the first time they make use of it and further they learn about the different wallets depending on their needs as well for the security reasons. With this online blockchain wallets were the one that has got increased usage.

Bitcoin wallet is like a bank account, you can get Bitcoin, store them and then send them to others.
There are two main types of wallets:
A wallet that you can install on a personal computer or mobile device. You have complete control over your Bitcoin, but sometimes it's difficult to install and maintain.
A web wallet is a third party purse. It's easy to use but you have absolutely no trust in the provider to maintain your Bitcoin security.

I prefer both mobile in desktop and mobile since my wallet can access on it but I do not save it on desktop and mostly in mobile because I can used and easily access it wherever I go. Devices that connected in the internet are vulnerable on hackers that is why we have to keep it secure all the time and avoid accessing unknown websites that is prone to viruses.

Many people are using mobile wallet because it is convenient. They can use bitcoin in anywhere that they like. However, I believe that bitcoin desktop wallet is suitable for me because im currently working with bitcoin and the blockchain. Using desktop wallet gives me chances to interact more with the blockchain and by that, I can learn new thing

But i think when it comes to viruses, desktop pc is one of the most risky, because of the viruses they can destroy what that system is and can also be easily to hacked by the hacker out there. Anyways, when i was a beginner my first wallet is Blockchain, but now i use CoinPh wallet here in my country because its easy to use and you can cash out your money through bank even you don't have one.
