Title: What's the deal with all the crypto-related .io domains? Post by: SwingFirst on January 29, 2016, 08:28:16 AM It's just something I've noticed. What's the deal about that? Or have we just started using .io now as a form of identification? :P

Also, the free hosting that github gives you is on github.io's subdomains.
It has a "cool" factor to it. According to articles (https://gigaom.com/2014/06/30/the-dark-side-of-io-how-the-u-k-is-making-web-domain-profits-from-a-shady-cold-war-land-deal/), the io is perceived as "input/output". I used this provider to search: https://www.onlydomains.com/domains/British-Indian-Ocean-Territory/.io Although I found the actual provider in India British.. https://www.nic.io But the second one seems more expensive |
