Hehe that's in line with my ideas to get bitcoin buses. Paying with bitcoins is definitely great for the company as well as for the customer, in these fields.

That's a good thing about BTC, as will be introduced to more tourists.

That's cool.
Great to see Bitcoin getting accepted more and more. I would like to know how much taxis this provider is owning. It was just written that it's one of the bigger providers in the city.

Another short article outside Bitcoin related websites.

Depends upon their perimeter size, or traffic density.
Any city that requires at least one Blocktime (10 minutes) for most of all travel distances suits  ;D

If I understood this correctly the taxis are not really bitcoin taxis but only officially accept bitcoin through coinpay services.

Would've been much nicer if they actually accepted bitcoin in its bitcoin form instead of trading it for fiat right away again.

Good thing ofcourse is the added exposure that this gives!

Don't forget that Budapest is an important tourist destination, apart from being one of Europe's largest cities, so we shouldn't underestimate the daily exposure for Bitcoin.

this is a very interesting news, and every news about a new way of spending bitcoin sound awesome to me.

but i am more interested to know the result of it in a while (like a month) to see how many people have used it, how much problems did they have (like with confirmation time), did anybody double spend?

What a great news, will the taxi driver wait for one or three transaction confirmation :P, other countries should follow this idea.

Yeah I'd like to know how they handle confirmation times too. Do customers need to leave some ID or something in case the transaction gets cancelled?

If the taxi driver has any hidden camera in his car then i don't think it's needed any ID, i was wondering what will happen if the transaction gets stucked with low-zero fee.

This is very good news that business peoples are accepting bitcoin as payment option, but this can also be happened only by the help of the government , until government accepts bitcoin in the law till then more business people wont come out. for that like Budapest other country should also accept Bitcoin then only common people will come forward and accept bitcoin.

I think the idea is to have the customers register on thecoinpay.com then pay from there.

oh its nice to see that more and more companies are starting to accept it more and more, i hope that more cities will do that

I saw this yesterday and think its great, no problems of change, you can pay exactly as much as your fare is and/or add a little extra as tips for drivers.

Another plus for drivers is they don't have to worry about getting robbed, which they do with cash sometimes. Can't steal Bitcoin sitting safe in a wallet somewhere else. :)

That forces you to use one particular taxi service if you want to pay with Bitcoins through an intermediary. I often find a taxi doesn't show up and have to ring a competitor's service to hire one. I wouldn't want to be forced to stand waiting in the freezing cold for hours waiting for one particular company's taxi to show up when it's very busy. It would be better if any taxi company accepted Bitcoins directly, but it's early days.

hmmm i think this is a great news for the community, i hope the confirmation time wouldn't be a serious problem when the service going launch, but i belive this thing will be more attract people to use bitcoin or at least get to know what is bitcoin

Great news really!
I'm from neighbor country and often visits Hungary and Budapest.
It's great to know that now I can use my bitcoin funds to pay for taxis :)
I wish that we have something like this in my country but, right now, it seems we have to be content that we received first Bitcoin ATM.

Not sure if bitcoin is good enough as we all know the transaction takes a little while, probably the drivers will just wait for 1 confirmation. Time is of the essence with these taxi drivers.

I haven't pick up a bus in ages, but I remember when I was a kid, I used to hate paying unless I had one of those cards that you would use and you could use for at least a month/limit of rides, because if you had to pay with cash, I had some other kids and adults in a queue telling me to hurry up because I was always looking for the coins in my wallet and one time the coins fall on the floor, geez it was so annoying. I wish someone did this for BTC so we can simply scan our phones in a QR code and get done with it.

I'm glad more and more people are coming on board. Even just announcing this lets people know more about bitcoin and how it can be useful for them. It's not just 'magic internet money for nerds' anymore.  ;)

I'm far from Budapest, and i will not use my precious coins on the dirty taxis.
Let be honest bitcoin is more then money.
Maybe after few years when bitcoin become more stable.

I didn't expect this sort of news, this soon. It's very good although as the CEO mentioned, it won't get too much attention but at least their the first to directly integrate this system into taxis with the help of COinPAY. The video that was posted on the article, was a bit fast on the part where stickers were shown on the side window of the taxi but I think there was BTCitcoin sign as well and somehow it showcases BTCitcoin even further so it's really a good news and can't wait for my country to integrate this system as well, so I can actually stop carrying physical cash with myself.

This is indeed very cool!  But I would have to take a bitcoin bus to the airport and then take a bitcoin plane to Budapest, and then take the CryptocabTM to the bitcoin hashbars and thence to a Budapest hoxpital with hopes they accept btc.  Or DOGE.  Eh............................?

If people don't use bitcoin yet, then they must be offered the possibility to pay and thus get to know bitcoin. Works the other way around too.

Thats a great business implementation of bitcoin payment in taxis. Also in one of the finest city. If in such a manner every city gets entrepreneurs, soon the entire world adopts the bitcoin.

How cool is that, I'll be in Budapest next week. I usually travel by bus when I'm in a city I'm not familiar with, but I may try a taxi. Not very sure though, that taxis will be a large market for BTC. I've always paid them with cash, but if there's a sign "BTC accepted here" in hundreds of cars, that will be huge to promote and raise awareness about BTC.

too bad uber is not accepting bitcoin, because they offer a cheaper and better taxis version

i don't use taxis myself too expensive, but anyway this can be good for those few that use it

i noticed that bitcoin acquires its adoption, through small business, first, in real life...

Its good that more and more different merchants are accepting bitcoins, i didn't expect taxis as a one of the first to accept bitcoin. But its very good because lot of people will see the BTC symbol and will realize that bitcoin is growing. Nowadays people think that bitcoins can be used only on few online shops.

Well, trust the government authorities to muddy the waters.
What follows the announcement that these taxis are accepting bitcoins?

This!
Following the start-up’s statement, the National Bank of Hungary issued an announcement yesterday, warning about the possible risks of using bitcoin
