Hehe that's in line with my ideas to get bitcoin buses. Paying with bitcoins is definitely great for the company as well as for the customer, in these fields.

Depends upon their perimeter size, or traffic density. Any city that requires at least one Blocktime (10 minutes) for most of all travel distances suits

If I understood this correctly the taxis are not really bitcoin taxis but only officially accept bitcoin through coinpay services.
Would've been much nicer if they actually accepted bitcoin in its bitcoin form instead of trading it for fiat right away again.
Good thing ofcourse is the added exposure that this gives!

Don't forget that Budapest is an important tourist destination, apart from being one of Europe's largest cities, so we shouldn't underestimate the daily exposure for Bitcoin.

this is a very interesting news, and every news about a new way of spending bitcoin sound awesome to me.
but i am more interested to know the result of it in a while (like a month) to see how many people have used it, how much problems did they have (like with confirmation time), did anybody double spend?

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

What a great news, will the taxi driver wait for one or three transaction confirmation , other countries should follow this idea.

Yeah I'd like to know how they handle confirmation times too. Do customers need to leave some ID or something in case the transaction gets cancelled?

If the taxi driver has any hidden camera in his car then i don't think it's needed any ID, i was wondering what will happen if the transaction gets stucked with low-zero fee.

This is very good news that business peoples are accepting bitcoin as payment option, but this can also be happened only by the help of the government , until government accepts bitcoin in the law till then more business people wont come out. for that like Budapest other country should also accept Bitcoin then only common people will come forward and accept bitcoin.

I saw this yesterday and think its great, no problems of change, you can pay exactly as much as your fare is and/or add a little extra as tips for drivers. Another plus for drivers is they don't have to worry about getting robbed, which they do with cash sometimes. Can't steal Bitcoin sitting safe in a wallet somewhere else.

I think the idea is to have the customers register on thecoinpay.com then pay from there. That forces you to use one particular taxi service if you want to pay with Bitcoins through an intermediary. I often find a taxi doesn't show up and have to ring a competitor's service to hire one. I wouldn't want to be forced to stand waiting in the freezing cold for hours waiting for one particular company's taxi to show up when it's very busy. It would be better if any taxi company accepted Bitcoins directly, but it's early days.
