Pool retain was increased to 50%.

Players are still able to choose the numbers in the same way as before, just pick your lucky numbers on decimals in the transaction.

Yes, Bitcoins for all the 3 pools are stored in independent addresses and will never be moved for any other purpose than to make payments to winners. You will be able to verify these funds at any time ( the address will be in our site ), as they will update in real time, after each draw.

What's your house edge?

We don’t have house edge. We have a house fee of 10% only in the losing tickets. We have developed this system as a long term and profitable business. We have seen many sites that after a few months had to close down or even worse, we have seen the administrators go away with all the funds. We earn money when people play and win, we charge a house fee not only for profit but also to ensure that the site will have all the security measurements needed and on top of that we will be responsible for replacing any lost BTC in case of any security breach.

It's a jackpot or a fixed prize for the hits?

It is a jackpot. Pools are formed by all the losing tickets. A play is generated and all the losing tickets become part of the pools for the next draw, after deducting the 10% house fees. These funds are divided proportionally among the prize for 2 matches, 3 matches and 4 matches: 40% for two, 30% for 3 and 20% for 4.

the numbers should match the order or you will accept any order?

what I'm asking is if I choose 1-2-3-4 I will still win if the draw is 4-3-2-1

some considerations about your site.

- I think that a link to the home page on the top of the site is more standard than on the bottom, some times I need to scroll all the page down to click on the "home" link.

- when I'm typing the numbers on the ticket, it's not accepting the numbers on the numpad.

- I think that will be better if after we type two characters on a number field it automatically pass to the next number field.

- I couldn't see in the faq and neither when I am filling a ticket that the numbers should be unique. first I thought that the site had a problem as I selected the same number twice and the total didn't change. but after clicking on "Click To Verify draw numbers" i found the information i was looking for.

- if I need to pay more 1 btc (20 USD) to use each free play, then I think the free word isn't adequate.

and the rest of yor site is very professional and very well thought, congratulations.

When I click on the address 1HSDNZYfcevZBNCZjj4y5wyxzbc79a6y32 on the tickets page, it is automatically opening the bitcoin client before I have selected the numbers. It is annoying.

When I send only 0.1 btc, the system chooses the number for me. How this numbers are generated?

What client, browser and OS do you use? That shouldn't be happening.

How numbers are generated is explained in the transaction. Check this one https://bitmillions.com/tickets/65e49ac94948046ab39032c6d9101678278acd4edb58df57d0cfbe7be269405f:0

No, the problem is that the href of the link is a url to a bitcoin address (as it starts with "bitcoin:").

when I click on the main page to see the last winners, I'm being redirected to: https://bitmillions.com/winners

but the information on this page look like test information as I'm seeing "30.533 Winners up to date" and only one transaction in the list and a ticket that hit the 4 numbers. IMO, if this page isn't implemented yet, you should not put this in the production server.

Because of the nature of the game, in BitMillions is impossible for the operator to artificially inflate the number of bets, since the funds from the losing tickets will go to the Prizes Pools and not to the operator itself.

If you add the "partners" and the "house fees" together, you get the expected 10% of the losing tickets.  So I'm guessing "partners" represents outside investors who have a share in the site.  Whatever it is, their share comes out of the house's 10% cut.

as dooglus pointed out in the other thread, you have this sentence on the FAQ.

"All the hashes of the keys of the next draw are available at this link in order to validate that the hash for the key that was used was the correct one after the play has finished"

but there isn't any link in the faq page. You MUST provide this link ASAP before someone hit the 3 or 4 jackpot so you can prove that wasn't you manipulating the draw result to get your money back. I must say that if this happen before you post the hashes, my trust on the site will be affected.

and also the link to the address 1HSDNZYfcevZBNCZjj4y5wyxzbc79a6y32 on the faq page isn't working.

EDIT: just saw that your message on twitter has parts of the hash for the secret token. So it's ok as you can't know the TwitID bedore posting the hash. It's provably fair.

well, I just give up trying to load the site on firefox and internet explorer, it's just opening the top and the bottom and the middle is blank on both browser and this is happening on every attempt. It's working very well on chrome, but just on chrome. you should take a look on this as firefox and internet explorer have a substantial share on the browsers market.

Sorry, it was in my todo list but gave priority to other things, since most of the funds from Pool #3 & #4 was contributed by us anyways.

you should replace HMAC-SHA516 to HMAC-SHA512 on your site. and you should clarify you are using str(txid), str(txindex) as the input and key of HMAC, in order to simplify the verification.

The pot for match-3 was far too high.  It really was worth playing until you hit it, because it was incredibly unlikely you would make a loss - unless someone else hit it before you.

The three pots will end up being 6643 BTC, 26 BTC and 0.48 BTC on average.  Having 400 BTC in the match-3 pot put it around 16 times bigger than it will be on average, and made it well worth shooting for.

You hit the match-3 pot about once every 10,000 draws.  10,000 draws cost 100 BTC to play.  So you're paying 100 BTC to win half of 400 BTC - well worth doing, even if you never win any of the other pots (which, of course, you will).

You are correct, pots were initially funded for a 0.10 Ticket Price ( Average 66430 BTC, 260 BTC and 4.8 BTC ) when we reduced the price, we knew that the pool what much higher, but we decided to eat the mistake and reward our first batch of winners.

Ha!  Me too...

I was thinking if I did go for it, I would have to buy lots of tickets all at once to increase my chance of winning before somebody else did.  There's no good way of buying lots of tickets for the same draw without spamming the blockchain with transactions with hundreds of outputs.  I calculated that I could buy 288 tickets with a single 10k byte transaction (each ticket you buy adds 34 bytes to the transaction size) but that I'd want to buy many more than that to have a reasonable chance of winning the pot (odds of 1-in-10k).  So I stopped thinking about it.  :)

Love the site, very well done.  Only one thing I'm a bit confused over:  Is there a reason you decided to have the tickets pay out for each play?  The current method is going to end up filling wallets with a lot of small inputs, making it harder to spend without long delays and/or high fees.  Perhaps a separate address to purchase a ticket which sends your total winnings after the ticket fully matures?  This saves you money, and the player as well in the long run.

It's possible to buy a ticket that runs for several years.  You probably wouldn't want to wait for the end for it to pay out.  A compromise like paying out every 100 draws would seem reasonable though.  That would mean payouts every 16.7 hours on average.  And if they always paid out on draws ending with 00 then players could easily know how many more draws until their next payout.

Good point, I hadn't thought of the idea of buying a single ticket that lasted for a significant time.  An every-100 blocks payout ticket would definitely be a good compromise there.  I just hate seeing the blockchain bloat and difficult to spend outputs filling a wallet [glares at SatoshiDice].

They actively encourage you to do so with their 'high roller' bonuses:

https://i.imgur.com/OH0q7zT.png

Incidentally, the 'play for' column is wrong in a few cases.  20,000 tickets will play for 20000/144 = 138.9 days, not 143 days.

Also, the most recent draw numbers are all messed up.  Is it meant to say 'CALCULATE'?  It's kinda ugly:

Maybe an 8 letter word would work better?  TH-IN-KI-NG?  Or just write the word without breaking it into 4 parts.

I guess the problem with the cache still make you see something different.

Yes, I removed the A in CAL to make it fit, it suppose to be something temporal, but I never got to change it... I will change it after fixing the pre-compile cache issue.

Also is import to note that you get 10 FREE PLAYS when playing anything higher than 1 BTC, I think makes much more sense to play 1 BTC and you will get 111 plays ( 18 1/2 Hours of Playing! )

The rules for transaction fees are well known:

Note that transactions up to 10,000 bytes can be free (depending on the size and age of the inputs), but over that there's a minimum fee of 0.0055 BTC (0.0005 BTC per 1000 bytes or part thereof), so it might be worth breaking your transactions up into a series of smaller ones.

The transaction you sent is 14846 bytes long, and so needs a fee of at least 15*0.0005 = 0.0075 BTC.  You only included a fee of 0.001 BTC so it's not surprising it's taking a long time to confirm.  What client did you use to make that transaction?  It seems not to be following the network rules for fee size.

Could you please tell me where can I find it on the bitcoin.it wiki?

The problem I have is that I don't know the Transaction Size at an application level, I just know the number of inputs & outputs, and I need to determine the TxFee based on that... any recommendations?

[Edit] I custom build the transactions with createrawtransaction method on bitcoind at another layer of the application stack.

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/1195/how-to-calculate-transaction-size-before-sending

transaction with 'in' inputs and 'out' outputs has size
(in*148 + out*34 + 10) plus or minus 'in'

so long as you're using compressed public keys.

Your transaction has 100 inputs and 1 output, so will have size 14800+34+10 +- 100 = 14844 +- 100
Its actual size was 14846.

Each input adds 147, 148, or 149 to the size, pretty much at random.  The average contribution per input is 148 bytes.  It's incredibly unlikely that all 100 inputs will contribure 149 bytes.  The transaction size is in the range 14744 to 14944, but spread out with a binomial distribution centred on 14844.

But... createrawtransaction returns a string.  Count the length of the string to find (twice) the size of the transaction.  Then adjust the fee, and repeat, until the fee is suitable for the length.

For security createrawtransaction is not accesible from the application layer, so I can not re-create the transaction to adjust fees.

You're able to run createrawtransaction from somewhere.  Can't you call it repeatedly there with different fees until it's right?

I guess I could change a few things to do that... I will try to calculate it by the number of inputs & outputs first... if that doesn't work I guess I will have to go that way.

Thanks!

Jaques, unfortunately bbit is a scammer, he applied for our beta tester launch promo and when we sent him the 1 FREE BTC to play, he kept it for himself, refused to play or to return the BTC.

1. First he sign up to participate in the beta testing

I'll help!

2. Before we sent the BTC to try the system, he claimed to be a winner and confirmed to have received the prize

I won 8 BTC it works!  ;D

3. After we sent him the BTC, he claim that thought it was a FREE BTC GIVE AWAY, refused to use the BTC to play and to give it back.

I had the same concern, but look at how nicely the small transactions (all the way down to 0.000003!) were sent without a fee in this transaction:  https://blockchain.info/tx/0895a6fa923d399f5079c5a444a70a7543b5c34ebe4a5d21ae522350042b311e?show_adv=true

It seems as though packaging these smaller inputs with larger inputs allows them to be sent fee-free.  If you ever want to consolidate a small amount at a single address, send a larger amount to that address, then send them both back to the address you wanted to consolidate the small amount at.  Use the larger amount as a vehicle to transport the smaller amount, for free.  ;)

That's right.  A transaction is free so long as it's less than 10,000 bytes and the average (input age) times (input size) is more than about 0.6 bitcoin days.  (The code tries to make the threshold 1 bitcoin-day, but allows 250 bytes per input, whereas since most public keys these days are compressed they only take up 148 bytes each in a transaction, causing transactions to be roughly 60% of the size the code expects).

So if you're trying to consolidate 66 single satoshis (the most you can fit into a 10k transaction), you'll need to bring an input with 67*0.6 =40.2 bitcoin days along with it (since the individual satoshis contribute effectively nothing to the transaction's priority no matter how old they are, being so small).  That can be a 1 day old 40.2 BTC input, or a 1 hour old 1000 BTC input, or any other combination which gives at least 40.2 bitcoin days.

The transaction you linked to included a 13 BTC input that was over a month old, so it alone contributed more than enough bitcoin days for the whole transaction.

Thanks.  That was the best explanation of the logic behind fees that I've heard yet.

So if I try to send a 0-day-old Satoshi by itself, the current rules dictate it would take 456,621 years to finally be confirmed!

Kind of, but not really, for two reasons:

1) If any output of a transaction is less than 0.01 BTC then it isn't allowed to be free, no matter what the priority.  This is to prevent 'dust spam'.

2) Even transactions which don't have enough fees will be confirmed within a few days because there are some miners who don't enforce the fee rules.

Have you considered making it easier to use free plays? Right now it seems frustratingly difficult because you have to spend ฿0.10 just to use one free play, giving you 11 bets, which on average will win you close to two free plays, so you'll get more free plays faster than you can use up the ones you already have!

I really like the idea of a bitcoin lottery and I played yesterday.  As of right now I will not play again.  Why?

YOUR SITE SUCKS.

For a for-profit business to have no way to ask a question and no contact link is just not acceptable.  I know you want to sit on your ass and collect money, but in the real world people have questions and if you have customers you have to answer those questions.  It is called "customer service", and it is important.

The funny thing is I got a payment out of the bet, but there is no way for me to see the "ticket" that your site "produced".

Thank you for your feedback.

First, for a for-profit business to have no way to ask a question and no contact link is just not acceptable.  I know you want to sit on your ass and collect money, but in the real world people have questions and if you have customers you have to answer those questions.  It is called "customer service", and it is important.

Our contact information is on the site: https://bitmillions.com/about

I see you find our link to this topic on the forum, where we give support... also can find us in Facebook, Google+, Twitter or IRC. Besides you are receiving an answer just 2 minutes after you post this message.

Second, even though your site says that I can check my "ticket" by entering the payment address, I did that and it always says "0 tickets found" and "Displaying latest 0 tickets".  Here is my deposit address so you can try it for yourself:

1HSDNZYfcevZBNCZjj4y5wyxzbc79a6y32

The funny thing is I got a payment out of the bet, but there is no way for me to see the "ticket" that your site "produced".

That is the betting address, you should enter your address, not ours. Anyways if you just sent the bet, your ticket should be in this page... https://bitmillions.com/tickets how many BTCs did you sent?

If you like you can also send me a PM or an email to charly at shatwo dot com

OK, very cool that you replied right away.  What I mean is there should be a way to contact you from the site other than mailing a letter.  Obviously I am like millions of other people who want to play your game- otherwise I wouldn't be on this thread telling you what I don't like.

I still have no idea what you mean about my ticket.  OK, so I shouldn't enter my deposit address in order to find my ticket.  What address should I enter?

The whole point of having a place on the site to answer questions is so that dimwits like me can ask them.  I realize that the answer is obvious to you, but it isn't obvious to me.  And I'm not really bashing you even though it looks that way from my first post.  I just want to know how this all works, and I have not been able to find my answer in the FAQ.  My next step was to simply email you and ask, but that isn't possible from your site.

this means the address that belongs to you, the address you have the private key.

By the way, the address 1HSDNZYfcevZBNCZjj4y5wyxzbc79a6y32 isn't your particular deposit address. it is the address that bitmillions use for everyone to buy tickets (similar to satoshidice bet addresses).

Let's assume that you're using the original bitcoin client and don't have control over what address will be used to send the bitcoins. As you can see in the search box on the site: "Enter Transaction ID or Address to find your Ticket", so just put the transaction id and you will find your tickets.

The guy who was complaining was basically mistaken about everything.  He didn't realise there are multiple ways of contacting the site owners, and didn't understand that everyone sees the same deposit address, and that you're meant to use your sending address when searching.

None of his criticisms were really anything that needed fixing, except perhaps that things need to be clearer on the site.

If these guys were planning to run a scam, I doubt they would have left such large amounts in the prize pools when they dropped the price of a ticket by a factor of 10.  They could quite justifiably have reduced each prize pool by a factor of 10, but decided not to.

Thanks dooglus, that is exactly the reason why we chose to keep the pools as the were, we wanted to be true to our word.

We didn't work for 6 months of working 10 hours a day (including weekends ) + investing over $50K ( 1300 BTC in Pools, plus Programming, plus Design, etc ) for nothing. We are here for the long run.

That is why I think its important for the Bitcoin Community to build successful businesses, operators of the businesses that do not make money eventually either close their doors or worst yet, run aways. Operators of profitable businesses that are making money, like to keep their businesses running as long as possible.

Our best interest is that users like our game and keeps playing it, that is how we make money so we can to keep developing new sites, games, applications for more devices, etc... to grown the Bitcoin economy.

In my opinion, that is the only possible way that this amazing new currency can succeed.

I wasn't mistaken- there is no kind of customer support on the site whatsoever.  I stand by that.  Also I have a lot of other questions that are not based on me being mistaken but on the site giving me false information.  I was shown two tickets but suddenly something has been changed  and now I see only one ticket.  I Bet 0.1 bitcoin and got .02 bitcoin back, but the two tickets were showing a lot more than that.  They were showing a profit as ShaTwo confirmed.  There is a lot of confusion about what happens to these "tickets".

Fair enough.  I thought most of the confusion was caused by you not understanding that you were meant to use your sending address, not the site's receiving address.  I stand corrected.

This is pretty much to be expected given how the draws are generated, but FWIW:

Code:
In := DistributionFitTest[numbersDrawn, DiscreteUniformDistribution[{0, 99}]
Out = 0.776266

That's the P-value for a Pearson chi squared test against the last 1000 draws with null hypothesis that the numbers are drawn from a uniform distribution between 0 and 99; a P value of 0.776 rejects the possibility of non-uniform draws with high confidence. So that's good :)

TipTopGemDotCom, seam like you are a very confused...

I wasn't mistaken- there is no kind of customer support on the site whatsoever.  I stand by that.  Also I have a lot of other questions that are not based on me being mistaken but on the site giving me false information.

Again, so far you been the person who asked more questions and received more answers that any other player, so I honestly can't understand why you keep saying this.

I was shown two tickets but suddenly something has been changed and now I see only one ticket.

Based on the information you sent me, I can see you are betting from 2 different addresses:

1 Ticket from https://bitmillions.com/address/19CU1e8gLYmhLXDLKrjsbGsQtuSZk3vQEF
2 Tickets from https://bitmillions.com/address/18E81JFWYYvUXrVfgmTU7J5tTH57BUAhXw

I Bet 0.1 bitcoin and got .02 bitcoin back

Based on the ticket you sent me:
https://bitmillions.com/tickets/44105098c52b79dca5915547c138333c8944a56fa14ae3229b05b4185b076342:0

Receiving 0.02 BTC seams to be correct. Here is the link to the payment transaction:
http://blockchain.info/tx/1336f20951725a4d2fb1c4c4429ff4b27a02473ed7848d2e12b14448f328daa9

But the two tickets were showing a lot more than that.

I guess you are referring to the ticket you played on the other address:
2 Tickets from https://bitmillions.com/address/18E81JFWYYvUXrVfgmTU7J5tTH57BUAhXw

You can see those 2 tickets where correctly paid to the following address:
http://blockchain.info/address/18E81JFWYYvUXrVfgmTU7J5tTH57BUAhXw

They were showing a profit as ShaTwo confirmed.  There is a lot of confusion about what happens to these "tickets".

I would rephrase this as "I am very confused about what happened to these "tickets"

Also I already gave you my email address, you can the IRC Channel, you can PM ( As you already did a few times ), so I honestly don't understand why you keep claiming that we don't provide customer support.

I will try not to clutter up your inbox once you get the contact form up!  It would be nice to see instructions on how to get to the "sent" address from various wallets.  In blockchain.info it is not straightforward unless I am missing something (entirely possible).  Until now I never had a reason to know where the coins came from.

One way to really make the site streamlined would be to allow customers to upload coins to bet with.  Some will love it and some will hate it but imagine how easy the interface could be then.

On blockchain.info, when you click on send money, on the left side you have "Custom" on section "Transaction Type".There you can chose from what address you wanna send your bitcoins.

Go to the 'transactions' tab, then open the 'View' menu in the top right, and select 'Detailed'.  It will give you the transaction id of each of your transactions as well as a list of input and output addresses.

one thing is worrying me, I'm seeing that the pool 4 has 1541 transactions to it and a total of 1165 btc in it.

As no one have won the prize of this pool yet, this mean that these transactions are sending bitcoins to this address.

The first transaction was 1000 btc, this means that all the other 1540 transactions sent 165 btc to it.

statistically talking, the winners of this pool will receive about 6000 btc. this means that when this pool will be paid to the winners, it will have about 56000 unspent transactions. this is a lot of inputs, it will totalize more than 8MB with compressed keys. this is a total of 32 blocks entirely filled with your "transaction".

I think you should review the interval you're sending the bitcoins to your offline address to reduce the numbers of inputs when someone win the top prize

Maybe have a small online address for pool 4, and dump it once per day into the offline wallet.

Also, you should regularly consolidate the outputs at the offline pool addresses.  Make a transaction that takes a bunch of small outputs from the 'match-4' address and sends a single output back to the same address.  If you include the 1000 BTC output as one of the inputs then you'll be able to include 65 tiny inputs with it while staying within the 10000 byte limit for free transactions.  So long as the value of the transaction times the number of confirmations of the inputs is bigger than 5760 the transaction is free.  So you can consolidate 65 tiny outputs every 6 blocks for free.  Since you're hopefully only adding one output to each pool for each block you'll quickly get the offline pool tidied up.

Also, the amounts shown in https://bitmillions.com/faq#7 are out of date.  It would be better to either have them show the live balance or not show the balances at all.

Yes, we know about this problem, what is why we are working in a script that will consolidate small inputs on the Pool # 4 Address once a day

Maybe have a small online address for pool 4, and dump it once per day into the offline wallet.

This is also a very good suggestion, thanks dooglus! Will look into it.

Right now we consolidated the payments for 6 block in one Transaction to try to make it not as small. In the future when game become very popular I thing we will have to do like dooglus suggested and break the transaction in parts.

Also, the amounts shown in https://bitmillions.com/faq#7 are out of date.  It would be better to either have them show the live balance or not show the balances at all.

I think you are talking about Question #12 ( How can I verify that there are sufficient funds to cover the prizes? ), correct?

Yeah... this site is terribly messed up.... I tried and tried to input the transaction IDs for .025 btc I sent just trying the site out and was UNABLE to get anything about any tickets (I should have 'bought' 2 tickets with .02 btc).  The transaction TO Bitmillions wallet ID WAS confirmed by blockchain.info.

I have to say that I won't be trying this site again unless things change drastically.  Shouldn't be out of the testing phase IMO.  Glad I didn't send more than .025 btc.

Even IF I was able to see tickets I 'bought' by entering my own wallet's 'send' IDs there MUST be an easier way to show your consumers their ticket numbers, the current system (discounting the fact that I couldn't get it to work AT ALL) is just too clumsy/confusing.

In addition to the above... the site is NOT showing the total jackpot available in the red box nor is it showing the 'last 4 winning numbers on the left side of the front page.  ALSO, in addition, the About Us tab goes to a blank page with NO information about contact addresses for Twitter, Facebook, Google+ OR Bitcointalk as stated earlier itt.

Something is very wrong here.

What browser are you using? Could you please try deleting your browser cache and refreshing the page to see if that solves the problem?

[Edit] Looks like it was a problem with a JavaScript Library that loads only on Internet Explorer, that was not loading on SSL.
The issue was fixed, site should be working fine on IE now.

You spent 1,800 hours on this?

There's only ever been one transaction to the bitmillions address that starts with 0.025:

Here's the ticket.  Interesting that the address it shows (17YHN...) was the 11th input. It's normal for sites to use the first input as the 'sending address'.

I may take some days off and browse Reddit & BitcoinTalk from time to time in the middle :) So not sure the exact number of hours...
Most of the work you can not see it, since is on the Backend, also we tested the system for several weeks before launching.

Just answered, ticket was received correctly ( don't like to give TxID for user privacy )... problems seems to be related with issues with IE9.

If somebody else is using Internet Explorer 9, could you please tell me if you can see the site correctly?

Ok... ShaTwo got back to me VERY quickly after PM here after all... I was a bit tilted by the non-functionality I encountered so...

Anyway, it appears that IE9 may be the culprit, not even working after dumping cache.  At ShaTwo's suggestion I tried Chrome (which I never use) and the site IS indeed working as advertised and I WAS able to view my 'tickets' (though they lost...  :P ).  In Chrome the site looks pretty good and has a nice feel to it.  Cheers guys.  Seems I'm a 'bug locator' ... ;)
I may very well try the site out again.

My questions about the tickets have been answered.  I maintain that twitter, facebook, etc are no way to provide customer support.  A contact form is acceptable or an email address and both of these should be on the site.  Charly, I think you are not prepared for any kind of criticism and this reflects very badly on you.

Dave, I take your criticism and we will incorporate additional contact methods on the page.

We will have:

- Facebook
- Twitter
- Google+
- BitcoinTalk
- IRC Channel on Freenode
- Contact Form

Any other suggestion?

um..let's see..

Semaphore (flag signals)
Native American Smoke Signals
That flashing-light-thingy signalling method naval ships use
Telegraph/Morse Code
Personal landline and mobile telephone numbers for all Sha Two employees
Telephone #'s for all Sha Two employees families (in case you aren't answering your own phones)
Perhaps some sort of web-accessible device mounted on each Sha Two employee, allowing customers to send minor electrical shocks when they have a problem or question
Home addresses for all Sha Two employees so customers can come bang on your door in the middle of the night yelling "WHARZ MUH TICKETZES?!?"

I think that covers pretty much every contact method... :-D

Well, there's yer trouble, right there. IE9 is the coding output of Satan. I'd rather use Safari and be bottle fed the sites that Steve Jobs' ghost says I should look at, rather than surf the web with the pile of steaming bear shit that is IE.

Web browsing with IE is like swimming naked in the sewer. You might get where you want to go, eventually, but god only knows the diseases and infections you'll pick up along the way.

Friends don't let friends use IE.

Internet memes and certain beliefs to the contrary it IS possible to make security under IE nearly as tight as any other browser, you just have to research the issues, keep up-to-date and use the proper settings and security programs.  It's really NOT that difficult.

There you go... similar to what it does for me... not exactly but similar.  I still see the charts of latest draws/tickets and etc... but no latest numbers at the top left just empty 'dots' and the red box for Total Bitcoin prizes is blank, and as last night and I have to assume is still the same, putting a tx id in the search box doesn't work (not sure if this is till true because I haven't played since last night).... as I said, works like a champ in Chrome... same computer.

You keep switching what you mean by '.' in a number.

In "1,198.6274" it's a decimal point.
Then in "win up to BTC 1.200" it's indicating 1000's.
Then you switch back to using it as a decimal point in "a bet of BTC 0.01"
and then you switch again, here using it as both at the same time! "$20.400.-"

I still think it's misleading as the payout is only 50% of the pool.  So while the pool may be worth BTC1,198, there's no way you can win that amount.

[EDIT] The Lottery System has been reactivated. You should see your tickets now and Draws are in the process of been calculated, in a couple of minutes everything should be normal. We didn't upgrade to 0.8 so we always where in the 0.7 Block Chain.

[EDIT] Draws are processed and everything seems to be stable.

Anyways, payments will still paused until the situation in fully resolved.

Thanks,

Charly

Yes it is confusing, looks like pool #4 is 1,198 BTC worth more than $48,000

That's right.  Pool 4 is big.

Yeah but is it 1,198 BTC or
is it 1.198 BTC

There is a huge difference.

Once you get that last hash and it is converted to decimal numbers, why do you skip the first 5 pairs?
Also, what if the resulting numbers were extremely repetitive and less than 4 unique pairs could be grabbed?
What would be the winning numbers in such extremely unlikely case?

The second case is practically impossible - someone generated a few million hashes and it didn't came up IIRC.

Once you get that last hash and it is converted to decimal numbers, why do you skip the first 5 pairs?

No special reason to chose 4, it could have been any number.
But the idea is that we will be able to use the same Big Integer to different games. In another game we just skip 10 pairs and got 4 completely different numbers from the same hash.

Also, what if the resulting numbers were extremely repetitive and less than 4 unique pairs could be grabbed?

Repetitive numbers are also skipped, the algoritm will grab the next pair until 4 unique pair of numbers are obtained.
Take a look to Draw # 225.098 for example ( https://bitmillions.com/draws/225098 ) the second [21] is skipped, because is already included in the winning numbers.

What would be the winning numbers in such extremely unlikely case?

As stated above, is not a problem and it will never happen.

What would be the winning numbers in such extremely unlikely case?

As stated above, is not a problem and it will never happen.

mathematically speaking:

each big number has 154 characters, so it can be divided into 77 numbers with two digits

the first 5 numbers with 2 digits are skipped, so there are 72 numbers left

so the best chance to it happens is:

(1/100) * (1/50) * ((1/33.33) ^ 69) = 1.6803 * (10 ^ -109)

so, this will never happen

they take 10% of losing tickets, so their house edge is 7.5% in average, national lotterys take a minimum of 30%

Not only that, traditional lotteries as I posted before:

State Loteries

- 40% Goverment & Administration Fees (*1)
- 30% Lump Sum Deduction (*2)
- 43% Goverment Taxes Deduction (*2)

Players Spend in Tickets: $10.000.000.-

JackPot is $6.000.000.-

Paid as Lump Sum: $3.900.000.-

After Taxes: $2.223.000

BitMillions

Total Players Spend in Tickets: BTC 138.000.-

Total Prizes Paid to Players: BTC 127.650.-

All prizes are fully paid as Lump Sump & with no Tax Deductions as soon as the player ticket got enough confirmations ( Each Player is responsable for reporting to his Tax Jurisdiction )

In Sumary

At same amount of Bets

BitMillions will Paid Back to Players: BTC 127.650 ( Around $9.255.000 with BTC at $72.5 )
State Loteries Paid Back to Players: $2.223.000

Of course this is a basic example, since there is Sale Taxes, Smaller Jackpots, etc, that are not tacked into consideration.

And we are not even talking about the transparency and the Provably Fair Winning Number that make it imposible to the operator to cheat on the results.

hmmm.. looks like I was doing some wrong calcs. but with this information now I'm getting about 8.5% house edge.

1 in 6.86 is 14.57% and 10% * (1-0.1457) = 8.5%

what am I'm missing?

Just to add extra confusion, I get a slightly different result again, probably because I'm only counting losing bets as losing bets, whereas you're also counting match-2, 3, and 4 as losing bets I think.

79727040 out of 94109400 bets match nothing, and so are losing bet.  That's 84.71740% of bets.

The house keeps 10% of losing bets, so 8.47174%.

Title: Re: BitMillions.com- More than ฿ 1,400 in Prizes - Play with only ฿ 0.01!
Post by: BRules on March 22, 2013, 07:55:25 PM
yes, because they don't say anything on giving the ticket back when hitting 2,3 or 4 numbers but if we count these hits percentage we will get 14.575037% + 0.697741% + 0.009793% + 0.000026% = 15.282597%

so, 10% * (1-0.152826) = 8.47174%

I know this is the best scenario where we aren't couting the free plays and the discounts on largers bets. but I don't think they will reach 7%

You guys are correct, technically the house fee should be in around 8.5% ( Edited )

From that we need to deduct our costs:

- Transaction Fees
- Partners & Referrals
- Hosting & CDN ( CloudFlare )
- SEO & Advertising

Also risking of initial investment of BTC 1,300 in Prizes, plus the cost of building the site.

I guess after all these costs the net margin is much more lower than 7%, specially since we treat the BitMillions.com website as a Partner (at 50% RevShare) and use 100% of those funds for the marketing of the site.

The real action will come when we reach a BTC 5,000 JackPot, in our simulations, we got as higher as BTC 13,000 with an Exchange of $80 could be around $1,000,000 Dollar Pot! That will be interesting. I really think we will get there one day :)

The thing is that gamblers don't care what you spend the house edge on.  They just want to know how much you pay out and how much you keep.  Whether you spend your 8% house edge on advertising or drugs doesn't make a different to me.  I still only get 92% of each bet back on average.

A casino won't say "our house edge on roulette is less than 1% because we give you free drinks while you play and it cost a lot to build the casino in the first place".

Just wanted to comment on a great design for your site, ShaTwo; I played a few times and really enjoy the feel of having a real "ticket" showing my bets. As a web designer/developer myself, I appreciate the design; Kudos!

A few suggestions, though, from me as a designer (if you don't mind):

One design choice I'd change is the style of the "Ticket Total Wins" header: to me the gold coloring doesn't make that line pop, and that's a line that I really want to see at a glance. Everywhere else on the site, gold/tan is a background color, which may be why it looks diminished to me. Plus it's very close to the orange used by the "profit button" on each ticket/draw when the bet was lost. Would you consider changing it either to green to match the color of a winning "profit button" or red (matching the "with this luck..." line beneath it) to really pop?

Also, what's the meaning behind the gold coin that's used next to the "Total Ticket Wins" header? I'm not sure what the imagery is in the middle of the gold coin; is that a cross? Or scales? Is there a reason it's not a Bitcoin "coin" like the coins used on the pool size table on the home page?

And the blue "Lotto" logo that's used on the detail page of any draw (https://bitmillions.com/draws/228114); was that left over from an earlier design? You have no blue anywhere else on the site, and the two "o"s in that logo look like they are two parts that combined into your current logo.

And finally, I agree with the comment that the display of the current jackpot size is misleading. Currently the big red box at the top of the site reads 1281.0461, but below it on the home page, pool 4 shows 1,245.0662 (and 35.66749 for three, and 0.312348 for two). If you add up the current pools 2, 3 and 4, you get the total in the red box. However, since the winner only takes 50%, I'd really like to see the red box show 640.5230 in that case, as that's the true winning jackpot at the moment. The listing of the pool sizes on the home page can stay as they are, since you have right beneath it that 50% of the pool is retained, but maybe have a separate table for "what you'd win right now if you matched 2, 3, or 4 numbers", which would show 640.5230, 17.9899, and 0.1562 respectively. Having the "current pool" and "you win this amount" tables combined isn't accurate and rather misleading.

Great site, and great responses to feedback in the forum, keep up the great work!

Oh, a few more usability quirks, while I'm at it:

When looking at a ticket (https://bitmillions.com/tickets/3550ebcec6858b9f0c9903dc53f5a233387487cedd206e891d6d727dbd748832:0#), the "order by draw" text in the upper-right of the list of draws played looks like it should be clickable (and shows a pointer cursor on hover), but doesn't do anything for me in Chrome. I presume it would enable you to sort the draws by winning amount (which would be awesome)? The same thing for the list of tickets on a draw detail page. Also, the little arrow next to the "order by draw" is different on the draw pages (solid arrow, pointing down) and the ticket pages (chevron pointing right); might want to harmonize those?

In your header, on the home page, there's a BitMillions logo that links back to the home page (useless; you're already on the home page), but on all other pages, the header is replaced to have the purchase address take up the majority of the space, and the logo is removed. The only link to the home page is then at the bottom of the page, in the footer. I've found myself multiple times mousing over the header looking for somewhere to click to go home, and then remembering it's at the bottom and having to scroll there. Maybe put some sort of "home" link in the header on internal pages, as that's a common user interface methodology?

I totally agree! By the way the Lotto Logo you mention was an option to replace the Gold Coin you mention... I also didn't like that header at all, but since we already we a few weeks behing schedule, we decided to launch anyways and change it latter... but that "latter" became longer that I thought.

And finally, I agree with the comment that the display of the current jackpot size is misleading. I totally understand your point, but when looking at any lottery site in the world, they all present it on the same way... so I honestly taked as a standard way to do it.

Great site, and great responses to feedback in the forum, keep up the great work!

Thanks :)

fun game, I like the constant trickle of payouts during the whole day too... makes for a surprise when my phone vibrates with a win.

however, I do wish the house edge could be a bit lower - 8% is too high for me to play as much as I did on satoshidice.  I think 3-5% would be more reasonable for a game where the running costs are very low now the site is up, especially if you want to increase volume to the levels of satoshidice.

Just my 2c.

Part of that is just the nature of lottories, really large wins for a low price, but also a large house edge. I actually really like bitmillions compared to my regional lotteries because the cost is similar and the payouts are higher. For example the chance of winning anything on a well know Canadian lottery, lotto 6/49, is 1 in 32.8!

I'm curious, how do you deal with orphan blocks? Do you consider it to be a valid block for your draw as well?

Same as Bitcoin-QT does, when we receive a Block ( from Bitcoin-Qt ) we Twit, determine the winning numbers and process plays.

If for some reason there is a correction on the Blockchain, we remove the invalid block, the plays for the invalid block and proceed to re-process the new valid block.

That is the reason why we wait for 6 confirmations before send a payment.

Doesn't seem like many people are playing here anymore.  When it started, you'd see 8-16 draws per block, now, it seems sightings of even 1 draw per block are few and far between.

hmmmm, so, IMO, you really should put this as a warning in the help page. Let's say someone bought a ticket for one draw and wait until the draw occur too see the result and let's say the ticket won the jackpot for 4 hits, if the player don't have in mind that the block can become orphaned later, he probably will be disappointed and maybe angry by the fact he wasn't warned that the results can be reprocessed. And this can lead him not play here anymore.

Good point, I though it was obvious that and invalid block won't count... but you are right, is a good idea to add it to the FAQ. Thanks!

Hey, I just read the pool thingy, and it says "50% retain for future draws", does this mean that in example, I win 1400 BTC and only get 700BTC? That's really quite a big percentage.

yes, this is done this way as, if anyone won the biggest jackpot, no one else will be interested in playing it anymore. The only problem is that they are inducing you to think that you can win all the jackpot at once.

That's silly. Then 1,400BTC's isn't the jackpot, but 700BTC is the jackpot, this should be changed IMO.

I have already warned them about the confusion this term may lead. IMO, it's not a "free" play, but a "bonus" play.

From their FAQ:
For each Free Play you have and want to use, you have to play 0.10 BTC. For instance, if you want to use four Free Plays, you have to bet 0.40 BTC."

As you can see this is not as free as they advise.

Looks like you put a lot of effort in the design. This is the first time I've seen a lottery-based btc gambling site. That highest jackpot looks awfully seductive at 1350 btc...that's like 150k. The coin sound is a nice touch it just caught me off guard haha. I played a couple of times earlier today. Didn't win anything but thanks for the games!

The jackpot isnt' 1350 BTC, it's very misleading. Below is in text "50% of retain for future use", so it's "only" about 750 BTC.

Scripting failure on my recent ticket: https://bitmillions.com/tickets/f8c3114c7f4be898a14be6b178a4c1274a1f61ef40c31351b02f2a215a2ee1b8:0

I submitted 0.04044400 BTC, with the intent that I wanted to play 4 times, and pick two of the four numbers for myself (04 and 44). However, the ticket was interpreted as choosing the numbers 00, 04, 04, 44. Yes, those four number pairs are in the bet submission, but that's now impossible for me to win the "match four", since it allowed two numbers to be identical (ticket draws skip identical pairs, for example here: https://bitmillions.com/draws/270663, (click the verify numbers barcode); 57 came up twice and was rejected)!

The system should either have figured I picked 00, 04, and 44 and either picked another number for me randomly, or rejected the preset numbers and picked four random numbers for me.

BitMillions - Under Maintenance Notice

We discovered a bug on the system that was exploited by a player to steal the online pools.
As you described, the bug allowed the exploiter to create tickets with the same number twice, when that number was under 10, what allow the attacker to steal about 30 BTC from the site.

The bug is already fixed, but we are having problems getting it back online, since there are still some tickets from the attacker that are pending to be paid that need to be removed.

All valid tickets will be paid as soon as the system is put back online.
We are working in having the issue resolved... please apologies for the inconvenience.

Again, please don't panic, we are not a scam, we are just fixing a bug and once everything is resolved, we will be back on online and have all the pending tickets processed and paid.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions and again, please apologies for the inconvenience.

He says that it is going to be fixed and pending tickets are still valid.
I hope they didn't just disappeared with the large jackpot, during the time they operated it increased in value quite a bit.
I remember they had the jackpot in some kind of cold storage address, mentioned on the website.
We could check if that money is still there, but I can't find the address anymore. Does anybody know?

I liked playing on that website, it worked nicely and it looked awesome.
Although I haven't any pending tickets on there, I sure hope they come back some day.

It's been well over a year since BitMillions went offline. We loved BitMillions. There are hundreds of bitcoin gambling sites, but interestingly enough there's a lack of classic bitcoin lotteries, so we decided to create one.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce you ByteLotto.com - a classic bitcoin lottery (https://bytelotto.com).

  • It is a classic lottery game, 5 picks out of 59.
  • To ensure fairness, numbers are not drawn but based on Powerball  (http://www.powerball.com) numbers.
  • Two draws a week.
  • No fake jackpot promises. No prize rollover. Prizes are rolled down to the nearest matching combination and whole prize pool is paid out every draw!
  • No login / registration. Pick your lucky numbers and provide your bitcoin address.
  • 1 combination costs 0.001 BTC ($0.3)
  • Reward pool of the last draw was 0.363 BTC ($96)
  • House edge is ~10%
  • Affiliation plan for those that don't feel lucky

Suggestions, questions and criticism - welcome!

Can you prove that?  ;) You know... Bitcoin and stuff.
You can check all the ticket he purchased on:
https://bitmillions.com/address/1BT4xWe5ATp37CwpxwnYViUDJq62nKbFvq

And Payment Transaction has just been sent:
https://blockchain.info/tx/d873bad7cd1a4b31f3dd634f23ce21913fade0d22abab70f09eddefd67b8381f

Congratulations to our first Lucky Winner! :)
I just want to know if he really is the 'owner' of that address.

(snip)

The four Wallet Addresses that received payments from that transaction are

How does one know if they won or not ?

You can check your ticket using your address. Enter your address at the top of the page and automatically directs you to a page where you can track the results of all your tickets, as well as see how many games you won, the payments made and links to previous plays.

First lucky winner

Considering this thread is extremely old, it probably crashed and burned. Look at the posts above ours, it seems like the site vanished with the funds. All good things tend to come to an end  :-\
