Inflation, economic collapse and the presidential candiates will all make Bitcoin go past 500 this year, that and the block halving, if the devs finally get the block size problem fixed as well that will boost Bitcoin's credibility while politicians are busy bickering amongst themselves.

There's a hell of a lot of things in Bitcoin's favour this year, oh and Japan is looking at recognising Bitcoin as a currency, which is another nice little bonus if they go through with it.

Do you think POTUS has influence on the bitcoin price? Last year it was all about China.

If it's somebody who will cause a faster economic collapse, then yes.

I also think bitcoin will keep its current range ($300-500). I can't see too positive conditions to await for a spectacular rise toward the $1000 psychological level.

I voted above 500.... I think it has been rebounding for a while and getting almost there, and think it is not too hard for it to go above 500 and keep the price over there.

300-500 will be the best price before the halving but when the halving comes i think the price will boost upwards...

It'll go above 500 this year for sure (after halving - June/July). BTW, I'd guess it'll surpass 550$+. Anyway, it'll be an interesting year for bitcoin as someone above told.

the smallest one is the halving, and the two big ones are Japan which will bring a lot of attention towards bitcoin which means more investment and more usage and the other is block size .

I also voted for above $500 since block halving is just in the corner and that surely will have a saying on increase in value of BTCitcoin due to more effort needed in order to earn it and at the same time, less reward on each found block. Also not to forget, this year, BTCitcoin have surrounded a lot of attention to itself and as result, more people are jumping on board and trying it, therefor more demand will also contribute on it's value as well.

I think its not to predict at this time, its possible that it goes to a high amount but its also possible that this will not happen.
The halving is for most of us a good thing but it also has downsides and the bitcoin can collapse after the halving for sure.

I think it will be above $500 and below $600 by the end of this year, as we cannot expect that it will cross $1000 as it seems to be unrealistic, halving will contribute in taking the price of bitcoin to a next level.

i still think we will see the price touch at least $700 this year. the speculation part will be the main price driver. also, maybe a week before the actual block halving people will start with panic buying which might trigger a rally. i am only not sure whether the $700 level or higher can be maintained for long as i expect the price to tank significantly after the block halving.

i am still saying bitcoin price is going to go up because of the halving and a couple of other things. even after the recent down price i keep my word.

We will definitely see the price go higher than $500 this year. We have plenty enough time to gain ground and demolish that price level to advance even higher. $500 is no challenge for this year. $700 will be the real challenge. Even $600 is somewhat of a good challenge for this year.

At this moment, I think I'm between above $500 and the between $300 - 500, as there is no clear sign yet that price would jump high or will it dive.. I am disregarding the halving as I still don't know what is going to happen on those days..

Well its of course difficult to say because the bitcoin itself is unpredictable but with the future of the halving and the users that are increasing I think it will rise to a high amount this year.

in 2015 we already see bitcoin prices was very low and it around $300 below and i think this year will so much better than last year because prices never back to $300 and i guess this is good step to see bitcoin prices will rise up and i think we will see the prices $500 above in 2016

Yes the voter for $500 are more , more people are of the view that bitcoin will rise to $500 and will cross it to increase more, as this year halving will occur and one thing is sure that an big increase will occur.

by the end of this year, I think the price will be above $500 of course because the coming halving will push the price higher as the mining supply will be cut by half and miners reward will be less so these factors will drive the price higher

bitcoin price is for sure going to go up. and the main reason for this rise is the block reward halving which is getting closer every day. so all the speculations point to a rise, so i chose above $500 in the poll

It will surely rise because if the price doesnt go up the miner would just stop mining bitcoin because they wont profit anymore.
The difficulty is getting higher every 2 weeks thats why they need to pay more hash rate just to mine bitcoin.

I also have fear when we come to talk about value, i know many people love bitcoin and they investing in it because they expecting big return, but what if panic strikes? We don't have direct control over price, and those who have most of coins controls the price. So they will decide this for us.

I think you should have combined the last 2 poll options. Anyone who thinks Bitcoin will die obviously doesn't have a clue.

Even if it does stay around $500-$600 for this entire year, then it's a good price for most of us. And yes, if we do reach $1000 for whatever reason this year, then the price will get dumped down again. Such a price is simply not sustainable at this point.

It is hard to know for what the price will be this year, but I think that it wont rise that much and that the price keep stable this year.
To make some profit with Bitcoin you should wait a really long time on this moment because the value is not even rising.
So it is good to have some patience and we all think that the price will rise after maybe some 2 years. But we have to see.

I hope for it to be around $500. It has not reached this high in quiet a while.

We can reach to $1k by the end of the year, as we are seeing growth in user adoption and also halving is  on the way so we can expect this price by the end of the year.

if you really expect the price to reach $1000 this year, then you should buy plenty of coins right now and sell when the price reaches $1000 by the end of the year.

1k is far from reality my friend,even with the halving it wont reach 1k it will just play around 500-600 nothing more than that.

I'm thinking exactly the same thing, most likely it will be stable at the 500 dollar at the end of this year with all these events that are upcoming.
There is even a chance it will even hit the 500 dollar next month but it will of course not be stable next month so that is why I said at the end of this year.

I think the price of bitcoin in 2016 could reach $500 at least. because the current prices are not too far to reach $500, much less we will pass some important things in 2016.

i think a lot people here will be very disappointed when the price stays around $500 at the end of the year. it's mainly due to them having way too high expectations from the block halving. they think the price might even touch $1000 before the end of the year. they only don't realize what it takes to get the price to $1000. there will me massive amounts of sell orders popping up at every round price level as $500-$600-$700 and so on. it's not that easy as some may think.

As speculations said, Bitcoin rate will increase due to supply and demand and mining level will get reduce to half of the volume. more adoption we can see in the business world...

Voted above 500 just because I think it is the ideal price for bitcoin after halving. If it sustains the price then well and good. If not, I can still hold and see if next year it will be a better price.

Bitcoin is really driven through speculation, however the effective user value is probably at 0.78x the market value. Normal people definitely have their own part of the Bitcoin economy, but a lot of the movements are being driven through massive whales shuffling their money.

As the number of normal people using bitcoin grows, it will be harder for whales to manipulate the price of bitcoin. So, when users can match the amount of bitcoins of whales, it is when we see the real value of bitcoins. But for now, we have to ride the whims of the whales.

I think $600 can be achievable by the end of the year and I don't think that price will go above that and bitcoin to reach to $1k will certainly take some more time.

I have a question though. It is expected that the price would get well above $500. But would it actually stay there permanently? I mean, people might start dumping coins and if they see the price drop a little, many would panic and start dumping and so the domino effect. That's just an opinion though.

Yeah I think it  will keep on playing with our patience in next couple of months, but one thing is sure that we will see best price of bitcoin in this year.

Everything is possible with bitcoin.  But a better price increase is a constant and steady increase. I don't want to see a sudden price hike that will also suddenly drop.  A steady hike to 1000 is better, even if it reach there next year, as long as it stays there when it got there.

We have halving this July and the SegWit will come out in the next few months, that will increase the block size. So they are all good.

My prediction is that the Bitcoin will start rising this year and that is will rise slowly for a long time but the value will be not high enough to sell it with profit so that is bad.
And we have to wait a longer time if we want to make some profit with it and so we need the patience for it.

I think the bitcoin price at the end of the year 2016 will be up to the amount of 600-700 dollar. The value of Bitcoin is going to rise slowly now and that is perfect because you also can see now that the value is rising slowly already so that is perfect for the Bitcoin.
The hard thing of Bitcoin is that you cant predict it and that is the problem so you have to take the right moment to sell it.

what's the point of dreaming about unrealistic high prices to happen this year? it will only result in you being disappointed as the price will not come even close to the $1000 price level this year. we may see $1000 maybe at the end of 2017 or maybe even in 2018 if the price goes up slowly.

The price in 2016 is going to be max at around $600 but for that to happen the price has to keep rising. We are almost going to hit $500, it has to happen with the next couple of weeks that are coming.

The  bitcoin has already reached $600 in Chinese exchanges. The western exchanges are catching up.

But I guess we are going to see price levels again around $1000. Yes, most probably before halving itself we may experience those magic numbers in bitcoin values. From my analysis, I would like to mention my prediction for highest price for bitcoin in 2016 would be $1500.

We've seen a very nice price increase the last couple of days. Starting friday the price did go from 450 to 540 (current price). I am really curious what will happen tomorrow.

It is highly likely a market correction, but as you well know, it is almost impossible to predict with accuracy the bitcoin behavior because of its high volatility. However I still think that $600 is very possible these next days.

Exactly as we reached $500 without any expectations, so we will experience the same in reaching $600 and now we are not too far to achieve that price for sure.

The block size increase will surely have a positive impact on the price, but I don't expect it to last very long. In order to see +$1000 prices we need more traders with decent amounts of money for investment purposes. Fresh money is what we need to see the price increase throughout the years.

The 1MB to 2MB block size increase will push the price to $1000. The next 2MB to 4MB will push the price to $2000.

i really think that at end of 2016 price will be above 500$ and maybe even above 600$ as price now is 570$ so after some pumps and dumps we should see same price at end of year

Bitcoin especially with the upcoming halving will increase in value dramatically. I'd say that a value of at least $700 by the end of 2016.

The price of Bitcoin is not going to be that high and that is because there are still a lot of people that is hoping that the value will be more worth but that is not possible now.
And you have to wait now a longer time until the value will be higher so that can be nice.

You already can see now that the value of Bitcoin is rising slowly and that is really nice for people who already have Bitcoin because they can maybe make some profit soon.
But it will takes a long time until they can earn some profit with Bitcoin and you need some patience for it.

1200 is an utopia for this year. My guess is that the price will find resistance around 700 dollars and from there it will either stabilize or get a little draw back to 550.
But with the halving at least 1 month away there is room to rise even more. Perhaps 800 at max.

I think you're wrong. I feel that the price of bitcoin at the end of the year will be really high. Well, today is the price of bitcoin is not too high, but the price increase bitcoin is currently still running, there is a possibility that the price of bitcoin will be even higher.

The present price rise suggests that $1k is achievable in this year and if price keep on moving up at a moment then we may see this value at the time of halving.

With some luck and a pump we may see 700 but for this year i think that is the max.

Its not possible for anyone to predict the exact price of bitcoin at the end of the year, we were expecting $800 price at halving but suddenly it went down, only time will show us the clear picture.

I think it will take some time to re-evaluate bitcoin price as per current conditions.

I thought the bitcoin price could reach $1000 in December this year. But after the hack, the price could be only 900.

Well, it will be very difficult. Especially when you notice that each time the price tend to break new highs, the price gets dumped down because suddenly something happens or news comes out that an exchange got hacked at exact that moment.

Sure the probability might have reduced to the hack, on the other side there are ~120.000 coins now out of circulation as I highly doubt the hacker will be able to cash them out the next years. Everybody will watch the coins now and almost every exchange and mixer is aware of of the situation.

That's true and its not easy to achieve the price of $1k very easily, we need to have lot of patience to hold our coins till we reach to that price.

We need to wait between 6 to 18 months for the bitcoin price to reach $1000. We have to be patient.

Touching 4digit price is not that simple. As quoted we can experience good price movement for the year 2016. And depending on this the 2017 fluctuations take place. So one or the other way each year looks like a unique year.
