Looks promising. So far they appear to have all their checks and balances in order. I like that the DGD tokens that you buy are backed by physical gold, that is insured and redeemable (only redeemable in Singapore at the moment).

One thing that DigixDao needs to succeed, it seems, is for people to buy/sell gold on the digix exchange (https://app.digix.io)  The gold is still yours if you hold the tokens and digix the company goes under for whatever reason.

The math behind DGD tokens and actual USD/grams eludes me for the moment. Will look more into it.

Say what?  Never heard of this one.  Given the massive number of coins already on the market, does this one offer anything new?   My guess is no and it'll likely be trading for 0.00000001 btc within a few months.

DigixDAO is not a coin, its a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization).
Today they held a crowdsale for the DGD tokens (basically every DGD is a share in the company).

Their business: you send them crypto (BTC, ETH, LTC,..., no fiat is accepted), they buy gold bullion with it and store it in a vault in Freeport (=fort Knox of Singapore).
Then for every 1 gram of gold, 1 DGX token is created. DGX can be seen as a new coin.
My guess is that 1 DGX will be trading close to the price of 1 gram of gold (thanks to arbitrage), since you can redeem your DGX for gold bullion if you want.

In a nutshell: DigixDAO (that runs on the Ethereum blockchain) is the decentralized version of E-Gold (digital gold company from 1996-2009).

I dont like how they are separating Slock.it from the DAO. Almost to distance themselves from a forseeable liability. I'd much rather have Slock.it and the DAO be one, and give Slock.it employees a percentage of the fees that they generate. Otherwise, paying them a salary will ensure that we run out of money with minimal progress since that would be the path of least resistance.

They should just call it Digix and not DigixDAO, it might get confused as having something to do with The DAO.

DigixDAO (https://coincodex.com/crypto/digixdao/) was one of the few coins that gained value during the dip a few days ago.

DGD is also featured as the coin to watch next week on CoinCodex:

Not a whole lot of discussion on this forum about this one.

Its value has really soared in the past month while most coins are flat or down, probably having to do with this:

Can anyone confirm if the DGX token has been released yet?
