No it is just proof of stake at this point.  If you look at the OP of this thread you will see they have some links to the previous posts for Ucoin.  It actually has a pretty long history, just mostly very low key.  I think your username is quite appropriate to the ucoin story.

It is great to see the plans to update the existing software, and even better to see the Dev actually does what he promises.

But...

what is the direction the coin is going to? When everything is already settled and the coin is widely accepted, you indeed could only update wallets and add small features to them, that could be enough. However this coin is not at that point yet. It is called "U-coin" - "usable" currency, but what are the actual steps to make it usable?

It has the the greatest support for different platforms among all coins I know, that's a big plus. But it should have a purpose, otherwise everyone just considers it as a gimmick, and we have what we have - low marketcap, low volume and Bittrex delisting warnings!

@UCoinTeam: do you have plans to further enhance the coin, to move it closer to its concept of 'usable' coin, apart from updating the software...? Sorry if my question sounds a bit harsh, just I like the project and can see your potential here, thats why I am asking.

We should decide whether C-Cex is important for UCoin, or only Bittrex is enough... If its important then some of the big holders have to create some self-trading traffic.
I personally believe it is good to have C-Cex, as it is not secure to relay on only one exchange (which itself gives de-listing warnings from time to time). With current situation it is easier to stay on C-Cex than on Bittrex, because Bittrex requirement is 0.3 BTC daily, C-Cex requires 0.2 BTC.

The coin is indeed decent, very good support for all of the major platforms, everything works brilliantly. The developer is reliable, and he shows constant dedication to the project. The only problem is he doesn't have much time currently, and shows not much activity here on forum. As a result a big part of community is moving to other new flashy coins, so there is practically no activity here in the thread  :-\
I am afraid UCoin is going to be delisted from C-Cex this time. The warning is there, but not much trading activity happens. Community is sleeping...

Regarding the staking in Android wallet - I believe the wallet does not stake currently. You can use UFaucet instead - shake it and earn coins ;D

yes mate ccex already made some mail to informed members that this coin can be delisted if theres no enough volume of trade there just take sometime if what the dev's plan after this concerned maybe he's busy another loss opportunity to advertise his project if we look on the perspective the project really have something to provide just needed more attention.

That's very understandable. But I am afraid the coin might not survive until that, as both C-Cex and Bittrex are going to de-list it it because of low volume!!
The C-Cex deadline is 19 Oct 2016. Very close.
Bittrex deadline is even closer: 14 Oct 2016.

Bittrex also announced: "If you would like to keep the market listed, please encourage the development team to contact us at support@bittrex.com."

If nothing will be done (maybe some announcement, or at least contact the exchanges), Ucoin may lose both major exchanges, and it will be hard to recover.

I don't think staking on android is a great idea. There is a reason why it is not done and that is because it will just over work your phone and damage it from getting hot. It won't break it it will just damage it over a long time till one day it just gives in and dies.

Yeah I think they changed their policy and are going to delist it.  Honestly it seems really random and as usual Bittrex's decision making skills are not the best.  I really don't think in the long run it will have much of an effect on U.  Still traded on c-cex and if yobit would take their wallet out of maintenance coins could be sent there as well.  I assume bittrex will give people some time to withdraw.

As to Yobit, you have no chance to get any reply from them. You can try though, maybe you are lucky, but they tend to ignore everyone except their own trolls and pumpers.

It would be nice to list UCoin on some additional exchange of medium size, like Cryptopia.no.nz, Alcurex.com or Bleutrade.com. Other options could also be goo. Too many exchanges are not needed, but 2-3 is just ok...

Iquidus explorer isn't the most useful one in the world, but it is free, open source, and is infinitely more useful than the current UExplorer (which is nice -looking, but practically useless, with exception of chart and the numbers at the top)...

Why not just release a normal wallet?

How can u be sure it's not. I will try it and prove that it's workable even if it doesn't. I can make things look different from the inside by the means of several techniques of manipulation. I don't know how to boot windows and will try to load the wallet on linux. I don't have that fat finger problem that most of our ancestors were prone to, thus being stronger and more adaptable than them.

The dev pops here from time to time... He seems to be busy with something else and keeps the project just for some future possible development.

But that is a shame. The altcoin market is blooming, all solid coins got crazy last months and gained so much value. This project was solid too and could have made a good return, but in contrary, it sleeps now, exactly at the time when it is the worst time to sleep.

This time could have been the best time for project resuming and resurrection. If the dev plans to do anything with this coin and in crypto in general, he has to wake up...

Or maybe the dev has gone to another new coin , who knows , it's the crypto world .

Yeah I feel like the dev went from consistently sporadic to totally gone.  Last stuff being talked about was a move to a platform like WAVES but I have seen no movement in that direction yet.  You out there UCoinTeam?

The https://explorer.ucoin.co/ seems to be stuck for the last 36 days (on block 1019641).

Also the SSL certificate is invalid on the ucoin.co, so browser throws warnings when trying to connect...
Its a pity the developers decided to abandon this coin. It could have become his flagship project, a good thing to have in his professional portfolio.

Does anyone have working nodes? Is here anyone who runs the ucoin QT wallet?

I decided to launch my wallet when I saw your post and I was about 87 days behind.  I connected to some node out there and overnight now I have a supposedly fully synched Ucoin QT wallet but it is not very happy.  It fluctuates into a Non-Responsive state repeatedly and I can't seem to interact with it. Part of the problem might be this power of the VM it is running on.  I think I will try moving the chain data to a different machine and see if it runs better as a new installation.

What are the nodes you are connected to? My wallet is running for few days, but was unable to find a peer to sync from. Probably I need to try to run it on a VPS with public IP address, so it have chance to find some peers...  :-\

Another project, in which I participated, took considerably longer than I planned, only now work on it is coming to an end.
UCoin all was postponed, but now it seems that there is nowhere to put it off.
SSL certificates ended, so sites weren’t available. In addition, the demons on the nodes fell off (one of the nodes I launched yesterday).
I had planned to move to new servers for a long time, so I immediately transferred everything to a new server.
I plan move everything to a new server on the weekend.
As for the swap, I plan to launch a swap platform by the end of the month.

Is this coin still alive ? Is there any announcement  further ? Its looks coin is dead.

Since summer I've been developing in my spare time (pushing code immediately on GitHub, so you can have a look at it).
I are moving towards issuing decentralized wallets for all platforms (a web wallet is currently ready, and an Android wallet is under development), in addition, a library is being developed to integrate Usoamic into other projects (the so-called usoamickt). At the moment, it can be used, in particular, the Usoamic CLI Wallet is built on it.
