This is badass. Add ycontrol to the whitelist please.

If this takes off you could make different servers -- a high rollers room, millibit room, so on and so forth.

Wow this seems like a really cool idea but wouldn't just a simple java game be insecure? Couldn't it be easily hacked? And when can we try this out?

Bitcoin and Minecraft? Add in some cat pictures, something about the show Firefly, and a vaguely leftist doctrine and the internet nerds will go nuts!

Thanks for all the good feedback guys! 300 views and 34 likes on the YouTube video in just a few hours. Remember to put your username down if you want to be added to the white list when it goes live. You can PM me it if you like.

I agree with above.. badass. When are you planning on opening this up?
I will let in the first group of people in play money mode next week. I am hoping to get one more game up and running first and do a little bit more internal testing.

If this takes off you could make different servers -- a high rollers room, millibit room, so on and so forth.
Great idea. At first I plan on having different rooms like this in the one server. But depending how popular it gets more servers may be opened. I would rather have 200 players in one server than 20 players over 10 servers.

Wow this seems like a really cool idea but wouldn't just a simple java game be insecure? Couldn't it be easily hacked? And when can we try this out?
The Minecraft client is easily hackable. But all the casino code (tables, bets, odds etc) is kept and processed on the server which makes it just as secure as any website.

- What can be hacked: Minecraft client (Change textures for the hacking user only, fly, teleport, run faster, jump higher etc). This has no impact on the casino and most of this can be detected by the server anyway.
- What can't be hacked: The server (Predict outcome of game, place extra bets, change balances etc). This only possible ways to hack this would be finding an entry through a flaw in my PHP/mySQL code or brute forcing the server password (which would take something like over one million years). This is the same way most webservers are hacked.

Nice idea.   My son likes it because it is minecraft, and I like it because of the BTC.
Maybe we could also bet on how long Creeper can survive in the minesweeper game?
You could have horse racing with minecraft sheep.

So are you going to craft some fountains and light displays too?

Sheep racing is a great idea! Ofcourse it will be done by npc sheep with the outcome determined before the race :).

I have not spent a lot of time on the actual look of the casino yet so yes there will be some cool stuff like fountains etc. I may even get some people in to help me with this if they are willing.

Saw on Reddit.
Looks awesome.
Would love to give it a test run sometime.
As for any ideas, i'd probably like to see the multi-player game: Spleefing
that could be quite good.

Keep up the good work and i will mostly use this when finalized :3

Look forward to seeing you in the game! Unfortunately client side skill based games such as spleef cannot be added as hacking the client will result in unfair advantages to players.

Hmm, this is true, such a shame. Would have loved to see something like that implemented.
Maybe something hunger games or battle royal style within a contained area.

This is a really awesome project and I wish you the best with it. I prefer to only ever beat the house so I don't ever gamble. But I can see that I'd probably log in sometimes and play for chump change. Better than playing hearts against the computer.

I find it hard sometimes to click and exit the blackjack chairs. Is there a list of instructions anywhere?

The chairs can be a little buggy atm. I am working on them.
Left click = enter chair.
Right click = exit chair
Make sure you are aiming at the chair.

I found a pretty serious bug in blackjack.

I had a 4 and 6 against a 10.  I hit double, got an A, and the dealer claimed I had 11, and said I lost!

4,6,A is 21 and I should have won!

Boo hoo!

Edit: now fixed

Another bug: I got to 16 in 3 cards (K, 3, 3 I think?) vs. 10.  Decided to stand.  Dealer showed T,7,3.

Why didn't dealer stand on 17, instead of hitting hard 17?

Edit: dealer was standing on all 17s.  Shouldn't have reported this one, 'cos it's good for the player!

Just a small issue:  I hit a blackjack (A+J I think) and it showed the total as "11".  It paid out 2.5 BTC for a 1 BTC bet though so that's OK.

I was having a problem getting the blackjack help book while sitting at a table.  Trying to reproduce the problem I ended up getting a whole bunch of them, and found that by bringing up my inventory I could throw them away.  That's good.  But I can also throw away my chips, which isn't good.  Now I have no chips to bet with...

Edit: bringing up the inventory in clicking on the spaces where the chips used to be brings them back.

Also, I've turned the starting 5 BTC into over 26.8 BTC on blackjack.  Maybe I've just been lucky, I don't know.  Shame it's only play money...

In the in-game chat, someone asked you about the house edge in the minefield game.  You said the edge starts high and goes down as you play, but it looks to me like it starts at 20% and stays at 20% all the time, in both games.

Player 'alexgangy' just commented that blackjack lets you double-down after receiving your 3rd card.  Typically you're only allowed to double down on the first 2 cards.

Thanks for all your feedback guys!

Blackjack rules are the following (Few bugs have been fixed):
Dealer hits on soft 17 / stands on hard.
Eight decks.
Can double down on any card Can double down on first two cards only.

Your further testing would be welcomed :)

Edit: bringing up the inventory in clicking on the spaces where the chips used to be brings them back.

You cannot throw away your chips although they seam to disappear when you do. This is why they come back when you click. This is a visual bug that will be fixed.
You can also get your chips back by reconnecting

I'm pretty sure you have that backwards.  "Dealer hits soft 17" is the usual way of writing this rule.

Might have found a bug playing around on the blackjack table to the farthest right, it doesnt let you stand. I tried it 3 sperate times, with other people playing and by myself and it would not let me stand not matter what i did. I could do everything else find.

I just bet 1 BTC on 'red' in roulette.  It came up red, and told me I had won 3 BTC.  I started with 5 BTC and ended with 7 BTC.

I'm wondering if my bet went on '2nd 12' accidentally, but I clicked on 'red'.  Maybe the text chat should say what the bet is as well as the amount.

I just bet 1 BTC on blackjack, hit a blackjack, and only got paid 2.2 BTC.  You have to pay 3-to-2 for blackjacks (like you did yesterday!) really, or the house edge is too big.

Every 30 seconds while sat at a blackjack table there's a sudden jolt and my head snaps back to look directly at the wall in front of me.  It's unpleasant.  If I want to look away from the table occasionally while I play, I should be allowed to.  :)

Thanks.  I gambled a little, then attempted to withdraw.  I had some trouble withdrawing at first, but it worked eventually.

The game feels really laggy this last time I connected, but I think that's my connection rather than your server.  I sat at a blackjack table, clicked to place a bet, and nothing happened, so I clicked again and my chip appeared.  There was a 2 second countdown while it waited for others to join.  Nobody did.  Then I got 3 cards all at once and busted.  I can only assume it queued my 2 clicks up and treated the 2nd as a 'hit' click.  Both clicks were well before the cards were clicked, and before the 2 second countdown even.

Dooglus, I think you made a mistake in your calculation of the odds in the mine game. Your calculation assumes that on all digs after the first, you are risking your 1 BTC plus your winnings from the previous rounds. I don't think that is the case. As far as I know (can't test right now) your winnings from the first dig go into your pocket safe and sound even if you lose the second dig.

Nope. If you lose before you cash out you lose all your winnings.

Maybe in the future you can add some kind of slot machines or something like that around the roulette table so that while you're waiting for the timer to go down you have something to do? Just a suggestion i thought of while i was waiting on the timer lol

Dooglus, I think you made a mistake [...]

How dare you!  ;)

You have to right-click your bet to collect your winnings.  When you hit a mine you lose your initial bet plus any winnings so far.

This makes the game really bad value.  Every dig gives 20% of your (bet+winnings) to the house on average.  That's 7.4 times worse for the player than playing roulette, which only takes 2.7% of your bet each spin on average.

I retract my previous statement! I made the assumption based on the developers statement that the house edge decreases with each bet. Maybe he should implement my proposal (Winnings from previous rounds are always safe) to make it more favorable for the player. Or he could just leave it as is for an easy cash cow! I'd probably still play every once and a while  :D

It is correct that the game has a 20% edge. What I am working on at the moment is a jackpot payout to Minefield. 50% of losses will go into the jackpot. When a player hits every square but the remaining mines, he wins the jackpot. ((Player Bet/Table Max)*Jackpot)

Ah I see :-D

Anyways, I'm sitting at work thinking about BitVegas, and the odds of your blackjack game

Things that give your game a big house edge over players:
  • Shuffling after every hand (obviously necessary online to avoid card counters)
  • Blackjack only pays 6/5 instead of 3/2
  • You can't split

Things that give your game a player edge over others:
  • Player gets paid 6/5 on blackjack even if dealer also hits blackjack

The first list greatly outweighs the second, and probably gives the house over a 5% edge, which is huge for blackjack. This is absolutely fine, but it could really piss some people off if they were unaware of the rules (I can image someone playing a few hands, starting to throw down big money, getting AA on a 1 BTC bet, and being really mad that they can't split)

The best thing might be to add another help book that explicitly states the exact rule variations your game uses.

The dealer doesn't 'peek' for blackjack before you act either.  So you might split your 8's and double down when you've already lost because the dealer has blackjack.  Every BTC blackjack site I know won't let you play if the dealer has blackjack.

Paying out when both player and dealer has blackjack is probably a bug, I would guess.

I'm not sure people will be willing to play at the casino if the house edge is too big when there are such low house edges available elsewhere.  But maybe the minecraft element makes up for that to some players.  Personally I'll play where the odds are best.

Thanks for your feedback welliamwallace and dooglus.

Splitting is currently being worked on and will be added.
I will also be adding new tables with 3:2 payout on blackjack.

This will happen within the next few days

You're welcome.

Another thing that would help would be to use card images instead of just text for the cards.  I don' know if you can use higher resolution graphics on minecraft than you currently have.  If not that may be a problem.

Also it's nice if the dealer pauses a little between cards when dealing his own hand.  Currently it looks to me like he gets all his cards at once (except for the first one, of course), and very soon after that the game is over.  I like to be able to watch his cards appear one by one.

People could grow their own sheep and train them to race against each other. It beats gold farming lol.

That could work although I plan on making it along these lines:

4 or so animals are spawned at the start of the round. Each one is assigned a % chance of winning.
If the animal is given a 50% chance of winning. It will pay out 1:1. If it is given a 20%. it will pay out 5:1 etc. (A house edge will be applied ofcourse)

This way you can either bet on the 'favourite' which has the highest odds of winning or try your luck for a huge payout. Just like real horse racing.

Pig Racing released!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjWD4O2zsQI

When I win a 1 BTC hand of blackjack, it tells me I won 2 BTC.  That includes my original stake, not just my profit.

When my pig wins at 2x multiplier on a 1 BTC bet, it tells me I won 1 BTC.  That's just my profit, and doesn't include the stake.

I think you should pick one of the other and be consistent across all games.  I think the blackjack way is better, because then you don't have to take the stakes into account.  Currently if I bet 1 BTC on 2 different 2x pigs and one wins, it tells me I won 1 BTC, which isn't true at all.  I won 2 BTC in total, and bet 2 BTC, so my net profit is 0 BTC.  If you're going to subtract the stake you should subtract all the stakes, not just the winning one.

A real example:

I had 3.8195 BTC.  Bet 1 BTC on 3 different pigs, then had 0.8195 BTC.
One of my pigs won, with a 3.5x payout.
The game told me I had "won 2.4975", and then my balance was 4.317 BTC.  So I was up 0.4975 after winning 3.4975.
There's no 2.4975 anywhere.

The game told me I had "won 2.4975"

Notice that when I win a 1 BTC bet on a 3.5x payout, I expect to get 3.5 BTC, not 3.4975 BTC.

I expect that's a rounding error somewhere, but you should try to make rounding errors work in the player's favour.  Never give them less than you promised them.   If you're rounding 3.4975x up to 3.5x when displaying the promised odds, you should also round it up to 3.5x when paying out...

Hey!  We were keeping quiet about this bug in the hope that we could exploit it!  ;)

But seriously, there's another issue here:

Quote
Deck: 2d,6d,9h,Th,3d,7d,Qc, ...
Dealer Cards: 6d,3d,7d,Qc,8h (34)
Player: Cards : 2d,9h,Th (21)

The dealer should get the 2nd and 4th cards, but looks like he got the 2nd and 5th.  The deal typically gives one card to each player, then one to the dealer, then one to each player, then one to the dealer, then the players get to play.

Any finally:

Quote
Public Key: a7209d83a968a3090b51ed37f13f917c8997251b7c8e0e03f206f633b1a5dd10
Private Key: [2d,6d,9h,Th,3d,7d,Qc,8h,...

Those aren't a public and private keypair.  One's a hash of the other.  I'd call the "secret" and "hash(secret)" or some such to make it clear you're not using private key crypto here.

Wow, excellent point. OP, would you mind providing some detailed description of how this bug occurred and how you fixed it (When you do)?

It seems like you have both
  • A hit vs bust bug (The dealer hit on 26 when it should have registered as a bust)
  • A dealing order bug (The dealer should have gotten the Ten of Hearts as their down card)

Which may or may not be related

EDIT: It seems that the software is not dealing the dealer a "down" card (In the case of a a 1 player game, one card up to the player, one card up to the dealer, one card up to the player, one card down to the dealer, all of which should occur before the player is allowed to hit). See this example, or any other game where the player hits at least once: http://bitvegas.net/v.php?&g=blackjack&id=9462

You need to internally deal the 4th card (in a 1 player game) to the dealer, even if you do not display it until after all the players are finished making their moves

Title: Re: [Video inside] BitVegas. Update: PIG RACING RELEASED!
Post by: BitVegas on February 28, 2013, 08:53:17 AM
Great to hear this feedback guys.

The blackjack is intentionally dealing in 'no hole card' rules of blackjack. Which means the dealer does not receive his second card until all the players have finished betting.
This is common to blackjack in Australia but I can change this if the players desire to use a hole card.

The bug with the dealer hitting on 26 is interesting. At first glance this cannot be exploited in any way but it should also be fixed so I will look into this asap.

Also yes you are correct I shall rename 'private key' to 'secret'

UPDATE: I have found the bug.
When a player ends his turn a nextTurn() function is called.
That function then checks if no more turns are to be had and noMoreTurns() is called.
noMoreTurns() then proceeds to first deal the dealer one card and then deal the dealer his cards until he hits hard 17 or higher. The first card was dealt without checking due to using a 'no hole card' system explained above.

Where the bug comes in. nextTurn() is automatically called if you hit 21 (Blackjack or not). It is then called again due to the nature of the system.
(You can check all the problem hands and the player always has 21 in value)
This essentially is calling nextTurn() twice, which is calling noMoreTurns() twice.
The bug was with noMoreTurns() automatically dealing the dealer one card before checking the dealers value.

Two bug fixes were added:
nextTurn() now checks if the game is already over before calling noMoreTurns()
noMoreTurns() now checks the dealers value BEFORE dealing any cards to the dealer.

I haven't pushed this update to the server yet as there's a few other things going in with it when it's ready. This bug had no actual effect on the game but was just weird to see.

Thank you for the detailed reply! I agree, it looks like it couldn't have been exploited anyways. As for the no hole card rules (I was unaware this is how they played in Australia!) With a truly random 8-deck shoe, it shouldn't matter whether the dealer's second card isn't dealt until the players are finished, so I am not concerned if you leave it that way. Again, when you get around to putting up a detailed list of the rule variations, just be sure to include that so people aren't confused.

Thanks again for the follow-up!

Except from a 'provably fair' point of view it would be better if the players (one of who might have admin access to the server and be able to see the deck) had as little influence on the dealer's hand as possible.

Having the dealer deal his hole card before the players act decreases the amount of influence the players have on the dealer's hand.

At the blackjack tables in real casinos you'll often hear "you took the dealer's bust card!" from players who don't understand that I'm just as likely to worsen the dealer's hand than I am to improve it when I play incorrectly.  But in this case, where one of the players may be able to see the undealt cards it's more of a concern.

I'm on minecraft chatting with murderscene & dooglas about the provably fair betting. What I'd like to see is the sha256 of each game's "secret" *before* I play.
So, you could shuffle the deck, take the sha256sum, and write it in the blockchain the day before you use it. Then you take the user's lucky words, reshuffle accordingly, and play the game. On the results page (bitvegas.net/....) you can show the whole process which is verifiable.

EDIT: this allows the user to know that the original shuffle was generated before the game was played.

See http://btcmultiplier.com/keys.php for how they wrote a 40 year list (!) of sha256s into the blockchain with a single transaction.

Edit2: I'm just thinking, it would be far better to use a public source of entropy. For example, assuming a 3-player game in which no-one says any lucky words (or some people say predictable lucky words), what's to stop a casino from tending to favor decks with top cards: A,2,5,8,K,4,6,9, so that the dealer gets A & K blackjack! So the deck should be reshuffled with a random number just before the game, but that the random number can be proven to be outside the control of the casino.  e.g. btcmultiplier use the transaction ID.

In short, I'm saying that, assuming bitvegas is using, and not filtering in it's favor, a good random number gen, then the fairness is provable. It would be great if you could also prove the randomness.

Any thoughts?

I think I prefer it how it is; it's cleaner, and every player can totally mess up any team of players' attempts to fix the deck by picking his own random words.

I do like the idea of having a pre-published list of house seeds, indexed by game number, and having the game number in the chat before each deal so I don't have to keep clicking on the green checkmark.

But I came here to say:

1) how about having a racecard showing the next few pig races, rather than just the next one.  Let me bet on multiple upcoming races at once rather than having to go back to the betting terminal between every race.

2) maybe add some copies of the existing games but for real-money players only.  Now that the casino is teeming with life (thanks to the millibit faucet) the minefield games are often occupied by playmoney players.  It would be nice if there were rooms which the playmoney players couldn't tie up.

3) did you say you added poker?  I didn't find it yet.

I think I prefer it how it is; it's cleaner, and every player can totally mess up any team of players' attempts to fix the deck by picking his own random words.
But you still could. Look at it this way. On Friday the house shuffles all the card decks for the week's games (it has to be some time before the decks are used). For each game, it performs SHA256 of the deck, resulting in files like this:

Decks.txt:
MondayGame1Deck: KingSpades,AceDiamonds,4Clubs,..........
MondayGame2Deck: ......
...
SundayGame1000Deck: ....

Hashes.txt
MondayGame1Hash: sha256....
MondayGame2Hash: ......
...

So, you publish Hashes.txt on the preceeding Friday, and burn *it's* hash into the blockchain somehow.

Now at the start of each game, the players say their magic words, and these magic words shuffle the deck according to some fixed algorithm, and the game is played.

Now, in the event that no player says any magic words, or that JohnDoe is a regular player and he *always* says "abrekadabra", we need to prove that the house is not somehow filtering their decks (i.e. on Friday, the house shuffles their decks, applies "abrekadabra" and checks to see if the deck is favourable to them, given that JohnDoe comes in to play every Tuesday evening at 8pm). This would require an extra source of random shuffling from an externally verifiable source of entropy. e.g., the blockchain. So the shuffling algorithm need only insert an extra "lucky phrase", which is the block hash, or the merkle root, of the latest block in the block chain. Given that the house can't possibly know this value on Monday morning when they shuffle all their decks, this would absolutely prove that the house is not pre-filtering their decks.

After the game is played you allow the players to view:

1. the hash of the initial shuffle which is burned into the blockchain via the file Hashes.txt
2. the initial shuffle
3. the players magic words, the latest block|merkle hash, and the shuffling algorithm
4. the new shuffled deck
5. the play
6. the winner(s)

Oh... gosh, if we wanted to be *really* paranoid, the house *might* technically have a choice over which blockhash to use - the latest one, or maybe the one before that. If one or the other turn out to be more advantageous (again assuming the players say nothing, or say something entirely predictable), the house could claim they hadn't received the latest block at the time of the game. This would be solved by putting a visible blockchain counter in each gaming room though, or maybe writing it into the chat.

Hot damn, I should build myself a casino!

[...] This would be solved by putting a visible blockchain counter in each gaming room though, or maybe writing it into the chat.

It's a tradeoff between covering absolutely every way the house could cheat, and not flooding the chat with too much information.

Instead of "the most recent block's hash" they could just use "the next block hash after the block containing the hash of the pregenerated shuffles".  That's both unpredictable and fixed.

I'm dumb.  Why not just use the hash of the block containing the hash of the shuffles?  That's unpredictable too, unless he mines the block himself.  And if he can mine arbitrary blocks whenever he wants then nothing's safe...

Hey everyone.

Update today:
Whenever BTC is displayed. It is rounded down. You should now see more accurate readings.
The deposit and withdraw system is back to 100% functionality. Deposits now instant again
The minimum withdrawal is now 0.005 BTC
Inventory is no longer reset when you relog. (Currently there is a bug where it gives you another help book everytime you log on)
Poker has reopened. There is a few bugs. Many of them are already fixed I just haven't pushed the next version up yet. Have fun testing!

Minecraft 1.5 was released. Please do not update if you still want to connect to the server. If you did update, you will need to downgrade.
I will be updating to Minecraft 1.5 when a stable version of Bukkit is released.
There is some very exciting stuff coming with this version which, if everything goes to plan, will include:
Your BTC always displayed on screen. (And any other text games need to display)
Names over the pigs heads.
HD textures and fonts (Where needed).
Animated textures if needed.

Hey mate. I have a ton of glitches to report. I'll make a list for ease.

1.  %commands work for everybody. People have been crashing the server by doing %100000b. The things we can do are: %b, %h, %n, and a couple other I thing.

2.  Stealing poker icons. If you are playing poker, and get out of your seat and run to the jukebox or fireworks box, and put your icons in there, wait for your turn to time out, and take them back out, you now own them. If you look in my inventory, you can see the fun I've had with it.

3.  Duplicating icons: Dump your icons in one of those boxes, relog, and now you have 2 of each icon.

4.  /me works for some people, doesnt work for either.

5.  There's no limit for how far way you can sit at a chair, so you can teleport from across the map into a chair, sometimes accidentally.

And now for suggestions:

1. Have a command to refill your inventory with the correct chips.

2. Open up the world to mining/building, for fun.

3. Have skill-based games (you have no clue how much I would love this)

4. Have a better prize for reaching the top of the secret room

5. Have a command for cancelling a bet

6. Make /help work

7. Set up a forum for discussion of the server

8. Hire me.

Here's a pic of my inventory for the lulz: https://i.imgur.com/BDlVn0o.png

1. This has been a bug for some time and is now finally fixed.
2+3. This has been known since almost launch but has been on the low priority list. it will be fixed in the next patch.
4. Another thing on the low priority list but I will look into it

Splitting is currently being worked on and will be added.
I will also be adding new tables with 3:2 payout on blackjack.

This will happen within the next few days

Did you add them yet?  I'm still getting 6:5 for blackjacks, and can't see how to split.

I have redone the displaying of BTC.
  • If your balance is under 0.1 BTC. It is now displayed in mBTC.
  • Any trailing 0's are removed
  • Max number of decimal places is now 3. (Although because of mBTC the lowest it can display is now 0.00001 (shown as 0.001 mBTC) instead of 0.0001

That is so much better.  If I have more than 0.1 BTC then I probably don't care about the tiny fractions.

Would you not be interested in offering shares for the public? You would likely see some serious money pour in to make it fly well.

I think the "you won" message includes your stake.  So if you bet 4 mBTC on blackjack and 'push', you'll "win" 4 mBTC and end up with the same as you started with.

I reported this a while back, but I think he's leaving it how it is.

I found a bug that constantly teleports me between seat #1 and #2 on the left blackjack table.
I don't know how this happened, but after it happened the following things happened:

- I started being teleported between seat #1 and #2, trying to place a bet on either #1 or #2 would place the bet #2 and I could only stand/hit while on seat #2.
- Another player sat down at seat #3
- Some time after the player on seat #3 leaved, I started teleporting between all 3 seats
- Placing the bet on #3 worked and placing a bet on #2 would place the bet on #3. Trying to place a bet on #1 would either place the bet on #2 or #3.
- I tried to leave my "seats", however I got teleported back to the seats again.
- This time I only teleport between seat #1 and #2.
- It is now impossible to leave the seat (maybe login out would work).

During the time I spent teleporting between multiple seats, I occupied them all, meaning no other person could sit there.

- Sit down on seat #1

- Spam-click on seat #2 until you win/lose on your bet
- You will now sit on seat #2 and be teleported between seat #1 and #2.

Guest play enabled! Try for free to see if you like it before purchasing Minecraft.
Is it safe. Can you provide the full direct URL to the .jar as the java applet warning window doesn't say it.

EDIT: No worries, found it. Doesn't seem like a direct link though.  ???  :-\

The link is:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftDownload/launcher/MinecraftLauncher.jar?v=1367502965000

If you log into your minecraft account at minecraft.net and click "Play in browser" and view the source, you will see it is the exact same link.

So the amazon aws server is infact Minecraft servers

I would advise everyone to avoid this server.
My account was hacked today, along with everyone else online.
It appears that the hacker took all money, along with passwords possibly.
I'd would also advise anyone who has every used this server to change their passwords.

On the server when it was hacked as well. Sad....

Our Minecraft accounts were not compromised. No need to change the password, the hacker was only able to impersonate us -- which got us kicked out because only one of "ourself" can exist at one time.

Didn't the admin implement /login system since he enabled offline mode?

Title: SERVER IS DOWN, no warning given.
Post by: mikeumus on December 16, 2013, 02:46:25 AM
Hey, big fan of BTCitVegas! Just wish the service was better and odds were a little less rough so people could actually have btc to come back and play again with.

Of course I have a long list of other ideas but for now I'm just posting because the server is down. Back online now.

...oh,  mostly I wish BitVegas had a Twitter account or some means of official contact/support. Taking money without such is, many not good things, but an easy way to start is Twitter.

The minimum deposit is still 0.001 though. But you can get 0.0005 every 15 minutes from our free gift chest while you're online. This allows 5 free bets 'on the house' every 15 minutes :)

the free gift chest doesn't seem to work for me. i have been online for an hour using the btc i deposited, but i have never gotten anything from the chest. i checked every 15 and 30 minutes and nothing. i'm not sure if i did something wrong or if it only works for certain people, but i would like to know

Oh dude that sounds like a challenge. I might go check out ur casino later.

The gift chest didn't work for me tajacama either. If you have any idea what to do let me know! I'm in the server now name unkcegila. It's huge though, pretty cool. Have been using the play money, almost ran out of it, but haven't tried all the games yet.

BitVegas was quite an interesting and unique implementation of how bitcoin could be used in games. I know the creator has been AWOL for quite some time but there was an attempt to re-create the project. But it was transferred and shut down in the same year. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=573278.msg6668894#msg6668894)

The topic of creating bitcoin applications in minecraft is trending on reddit bitcoin communities right now yet not many there seems to remember bitvegas.

https://www.reddit.com/r/bitcoinxt/comments/3nfn1y/ive_always_felt_minecraft_and_bitcoin_were_meant/

Has anyone kept the code? Any chance of releasing it publicly so the legacy can live on?

Well, duh.

BitVegas was shut down after a hack and the creator going AWOL. I hope that was clear enough in my necrobump :p
