Title: Greedi and Coblee and Litecoin
Post by: smoothie on February 12, 2013, 10:50:48 PM
Not sure what Greedi's problem is but given he is a dev for Litecoin, this puts him in a bad light.

Basically it goes like this, I PM coblee on litecoin forum, Greedi reads it, asks me about it, I ask him why he is reading them, he says he monitors for illegal activity, i tell him I am not doing anything illegal, then get goes on a childish rant cussing etc. Have a read:

Quote
[11:46:06 AM] Greedi: So, what did you want to chit chat with coblee about_
[12:31:25 PM] Smoothie: Just curious why you are reading my PMs.
[12:31:49 PM] Greedi: lol
[12:32:26 PM] Greedi: I'm always checking some PM thru, to make sure no one are usin g my forum illigal.. and yea.. your PM putted up..
[12:32:47 PM] Smoothie: not doing anything illegal. There you go.
[12:33:11 PM] Greedi: lol, don't talk to me like that.. wtf have I done to you dude?
[12:33:52 PM] Smoothie: Wow you are touchy
[12:34:13 PM] Smoothie: I'll say what I want. You asked me a question, I answered.
[12:34:20 PM] Smoothie: Problem?
[12:34:35 PM] Greedi: Yes.. Dont talk to me like that..
[12:34:44 PM] Smoothie: Like what?
[12:35:05 PM] Smoothie: All I said was I wasn't doing anything illegal. Hence no need for questioning.
[12:36:19 PM] Greedi: fuck you man.. wtf have i done to you?.. I was just asking man.. step   down a bit dude.. No reason to give me a sjitty answer like that, you could just say "Its private" or something.. lol...
[12:37:05 PM] Smoothie: Greedi I sure hope that you have a better day. Appears you have a problem.
[12:38:29 PM] Greedi: lol
[12:40:10 PM] Smoothie: I'm sure you wouldn't like your privacy violated. That would be my problem. Given you said you look at PMs to make sure illegal activity isnt going on, discussion is over since I'm not doing any of that. If you have a problem with me talking with Coblee just come out and say it.
[12:42:31 PM] Greedi: lol wtf dude?.. I was just fucking asking.. I dont have a problem with it, not at all.. I have a problem with coblee yes.. but thats nothing with you..  Was just asking for asking.. If you dont ask, you'll never get any info .. damn dude, pull your self together.. And calm down when people ask you something.. You are maybe just that buig troll from btctalk ?.. was not what I was thinking about you, but if you even respond that shitty to me hear, as you do on btctalk, then fuck no..
[12:43:00 PM] Smoothie: Right, i'm the one swearing and needs to pull himself together
[12:43:29 PM] Smoothie: lol
[12:43:33 PM] Greedi: You = US |Me = EU.. different ways to react on .. ..
[12:44:04 PM] Smoothie: Dont judge me then. If we are indeed different.
[12:44:14 PM] Smoothie: I made a direct statement, you cried about it. Not my problem.
[12:44:26 PM] Greedi: k fuck you.. bai..
[12:44:32 PM] Smoothie: lol

Yes. You are. Having write access on GitHub defines you as one.

So now you've deleted your GitHub account. Good for you. Doesn't change the commits that have your name on them.

All I can say is, I thought Greedi was cool, but now that he has shown his true colors....not so much.

Well given the fact that Greedi did post valid reasons in why he was reading pms their shouldn't be any question to this regardless if dev or x dev or admin. Admins mods etc have reasons to read and as seen in the content you posted he has stated reasons to this, So this is not really needed to be questioned

reading "private messages" in order to make sure nothing illegal is going on is NOT a valid reason.  Greedi is the CIA now?

Assume that any sensitive info you may have sent through the forum has been compromised.

I dont like this one bit

The funny thing here is discussing PM matters.

If anyone with enough rights to access the database can read the info in it, it's one thing to monitor the forum for illegal activity and another to discuss on private matter you learned from the ongoing "light readings". In the end .. it's hard to be impartial. Most people try, few succeed. Some, as in the case here, don't even try ..

And on smoothie's account .. Greedi claimed to be the "head developer" , as "elected" by the community. Now he denies being any ..

I'd say .. growing up does not always mean to be tall.

What the hell lol  If you're going to snoop, don't make it obvious you're snooping.  And then don't curse at the guy.  EU or US, everyone knows etiquette.  You don't just treat a guy like shit for no reason.

And that's not even considering the issue with privacy.  What's a private message that's not private?  May as well just drop PMs all together and use something else if everything's under someone's eye.

Finally, if you're gonna have a guy with the power to monitor messages, at least make sure he knows what he's doing.  This looks like the kind of stuff a child would pull.

All that said, I don't want anything to do with this coin.  Good luck! ;D

An admin of a forum isn't Litecoin, nor is it what it's about.

Greedi is not the lead of Litecoin. He is just someone who I chose to host the official Litecoin forum. He has been a great supporter of Litecoin. But his behavior recently has made me question whether I have misplaced my trust. I do not think a moderator has the right to snoop on private messages and he definitely has no business questioning people about private matters. And he should not delete message he doesn't like. If Greedi cannot live up to those standards, then he will be replaced.

If you are quitting a coin because of an action of a forum moderator, then why are you here? :)
No offense to any moderators reading this, but bitcoin forum moderators have done their share of questionable things from what I've heard.  :P

Thanks to Someguy123 backing up the database, it doesn't have to be started from scratch. He just imported the db to his server and I pointed forum.litecoin.net to his server. Most people wouldn't even have noticed the backend change.

Well myself too to prompt them to go back everything up and then some and make sure everything was backed up before things got changed.

I am quite shocked at what greedi has done here from been a really good guy now going to resulting in all of this. I thought you where better than this greedi I really did.

Actually, all credit goes to Someguy123. While I was trying to figure out what was going on, I didn't even think of backing up the forum. I guess I was just too naive to realize that Greedi can just all of a sudden disappear and take all his servers down. The second Greedi mentioned leaving, Someguy123 immediately went to backup everything. And he barely managed to do before he lost admin access! Though Greedi did send a last message saying he wasn't trying to screw Litecoin over, but who knows what he was really thinking. I thought I knew him well too.

At the time of this all happening I was on TS with someguy and others and i prompted him as even i lost access to my servers and then things where back up and today servers went down and a lot of other stuff and now their back up and running so it given me time to also back my new projects up too. SO for someguy yes credit goes to him backing stuff up and was very shortly after lost the access.

Well it's probably best that Greedi has been removed from the picture.  I don't know if the forums ever had an official policy on what admins/moderators could do, but searching through PMs didn't seem to have ever been stated or condoned (at least by what coblee has said).  Yes the forums were on Greedi's servers, but if such screenings were being performed, that information should have been made available to the public (sorry, I'm still thrown regarding what crazyearner said on the first page of this thread, maybe the "crazy" part is factual).

Throwing transparent/honest practices and such out the window and giving Greedi the utmost benefit of the doubt, this obviously wasn't a random PM check (as Greedi stated he has issues with coblee) and I don't get why Greedi even tried to give smoothie the "2nd degree".  He obviously read the PM and knew exactly what it said and had some issue with it.  Did he want smoothie to get down on his virtual knees and kiss his rings?  Don't really care for the whole "US/EU" comment either, I understand "English as a first language vs not" but to imply that Americans are somehow fundamentally different (I guess he was trying to say "disrespectful" but who knows) than all of the countries that make up the European Union?  That's just not the kind of nationalism we need in a global community.
