Title: ⋞ANN⋟⋞HOST⋟ HOSTCOIN | IN-DEV | READ OP

Just gonna come out and say it. TrapCoin is a flop. My java sucks nuts and with the mixture of life's shitstorm of events I pretty much abandoned the project. Focusing on repairing my family life with my wife and spending more time with my 1 yr old son, I hadn't touched TrapCoin at all. My server that was hosting my dev minecraft server, bill overdue. The server that was hosting the blockchain and wallets, bill overdue. Just let it all slip away. All my computer activity went on a 4 month hiatus.

I in no way shape or form intend on dumping this coin. Here's my wallets so you can all verify the addys: http://puu.sh/rQDZT/1561ce7843.png (http://puu.sh/rQDZT/1561ce7843.png) (21d/10m/16y)
Here's one that was taken in May to prove I'm only buying and not dumping any: http://puu.sh/oVlrZ/25d371a501.jpg (http://puu.sh/oVlrZ/25d371a501.jpg)

I have plans. Plans with a new purpose all together. I will be focusing my efforts into something that I'm very knowledgeable in, and something that will benefit others on the internet. Hosting. There will be shared hosting to begin with for users who want small websites. Another service will be hosted nodes and block explorers for a fair price. All hosting services will be paid for in the re-braded coin, giving it value. My plans also include a fair distribution, as I'm not very happy with the wealth distribution TrapCoin has achieved. For obvious reasons I will be doing a rebranding as well. I just wanted to let everyone know what is going on and that I'm back to invest some time an money into this project.

Another thing I would like to build is a team. Doing things single handedly gets a little tasking. I would like the insight of other skilled individuals that feel like they could be an asset. If you feel like you have something to offer let me know!

It's a trap

EDIT:

How is it backed by "Minecraft Economy" exactly? ::)

Well in minecraft servers there are virtual balances that every player carrys. In almost every server, the balance doesn't go much further than being able to buy things in game. In the server I'm creating the in-game currency will be TrapCoin. Players will have the ability to withdrawal and deposit coins in and out of the server.

So, is that legal? You've got Minecraft's permission for that?
If the answer is no, this coin is useless like the 99% of other coins which get posted.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Minecraft servers are independently owned and each and every one is different. Server owners are allowed to do as they please with their servers to give it an edge over the next. I'm not trying to be rude but maybe before you go blabbering negative remarks which you know nothing about maybe do a little research.  :-\

I don't see how am I being rude by asking some stuff I'm interested into?

Minecraft is a game. Correct? It's someone's intellectual property. Do you have the permission to host a private server in general?
I don't play games, so I don't know the answer. That's the reason I ask.

At the moment both SPL and BTC wallets are online and instant at safecex. I withdrew both today instantly. You're right though, they're having issues. Making it an unpopular place to trade at the moment. I ordered .1 BTC on coinbase last Friday so that I can get TRAP listed on yobit. However, it takes 5 business days to buy bitcoin at coinbase through a bank account. So if everything goes as planned it will be listed on yobit sometime next week. :)

I never said you were being rude, I just said it was a negative remark. Stating that what I was doing is illegal.

Stupid question perhaps (but I don't believe in them, hence will ask anyway) is the mine new or if I start mining am I going down a trodden path?

Not a stupid question at all, you may to mine Spliffcoin without any worries. The SPL wallet and TRAP wallet are 100% compatible. Meaning you can send SPL to a TRAP wallet and you can send TRAP to a SPL wallet. :)

Correct, it's just a relaunch with a name change. I needed the name change to flow nicley with my minecraft server.

Minecraft is made to let people host there own servers. it is intended to be played on your own private servers.
the Op is correct the things you are saying are very incorrect.

I stated that I was having issues getting the merkleroot to sync in the OP. Currently the only way past it is to run the original SPL wallet and change the Spliffcoin appdata folder to TrapCoin. That's why my windows wallet is an installer, so I can include the blockchain. Considering there's a pretty big bounty for it, it should get resolved soon. If you're trying to compile the source to create a pool. Just use the "Spliffcoin" source.

http://i65.tinypic.com/wipax.jpg

I have recompiled the old wallet to include the new coin name as well as the new units. However after compiling it there was a problem syncing with the merkle root. So I had to create an installer that includes an updated version of the blockchain. It's the only way I could get the new wallet to sync correctly. There's a bounty for 25,000 Pounds to the first person who can get the qt compiled and working without my method. If you do not to wish to use my version of the wallet you may always use the original Spliffcoin wallet. However, the virus total shows three false positives.

Yes if you wish, you may keep your SPL wallet. I don't have any plans for forcing users to update.

here is a block explorer (originally for spliffcoin):
http://108.61.166.33:3001/ (http://108.61.166.33:3001/)

the faucet seems to be not working anymore, as well as the pool.
don't know what happened to the pool on pool.mn.
i mined it 2 weeks before on pool. mn

the spliffcoin thread is here:

The only way to get free TRAP is through the bounties and mining, even the mining isn't free. Eventually people will be able to earn it through minecraft though!

http://i66.tinypic.com/2viktxt.jpg

Windows QT w/ Updated Source : 25,000 Pounds
Mac QT : 10,000 Pounds
New Logo : 10,000 Pounds
Mining Pool : 5000 Pounds
Block Explorer : 5000 Pounds

Watching, i need a mining pool.

Good to hear, hopefully one should be up soon. It looks like someone was trying to make one with the new source but failed. I'm working to get that fixed ASAP.

Also seems like I'm the only one mining currently (kinda sweet I suppose).

Good luck to you and your Minecraft Server!

Sweet on the source! I'll download and compile this now so I can stop running the windows wallet on Linux LOL

Edit: Just as a heads up, source still compiles to Spliffcoin-qt :)

Hey, nice to see the new ANN!  For the record, I don't play Minecraft and I don't smoke weed.  I am certainly not the target audience for this coin.  This is Ace_Of_Fades' baby as far as the vision for it's use case.

Will the coin grow into something bigger than it's current planned usage as a coin for use on Minecraft servers?  Possibly, we will figure that out as we go.  Will you get rich off this coin?  No.  Is this coin going to be pumped and dumped?  No.  If I believed Ace_Of_Fades was looking to scam anyone or make a bunch of false promises he doesn't intend to keep to hype this coin up, I wouldn't have agreed to help with promotions and planning or donate a load of coins towards bounties to get this thing rolling along.

We are working on getting this listed at Yobit ASAP.  There are still approx. 19,000 POW blocks left to mine, so I would also like to get a pool going ASAP.  The front end for pool.mn's SPL pool is still up, but it appears to be disabled on the backend.  The ANN says 5,000 pounds (we are calling them "pounds", not "coins", because that's more fun) for a mining pool, but since I am handling the bounties anyway, I am upping that offer to 15,000 pounds!  If anyone can get a pool up and running for us, shoot me a message and I will send off your bounty right away.

Difficulty is low enough that just about anyone can solo mine this effectively.

any update to this wallet do you have any possible ways how to get it for free aside from mining? thanks in advance mate how i can get some of it if you have campaign i can work for you.

I will be handling promotion and bounties.  I plan on running a Twitter giveaway at some point, possibly a signature campaign.  Keep an eye on the thread, I am sure you will have opportunities to get some free coins and you can still buy cheaply at safecex.com (yobit soon!) and mine cheaply.

I'm looking on setting up a MPOS pool later today when I have some downtime for work. I've had an idea to get something like this up for a while- mainly for coins that other pools don't really want to have. If someone beats me to it, no biggie. I'll still work on getting one up for you guys anyway :)

Till then, having fun seeing the pounds roll in :P

This is almost setup, I have a bit more testing to do before I launch it live on a dedicated.

Side note: I'm also setting up a block explorer for you. Just working out the kinks ;)

The block explorer looks great! And we officially have a mining pool! I believe the total bounty for that is 20,000 Pounds! Either SockPuppetAccount (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=406245) will get ahold of you or you may send him a PM for the bounty. :) I've also added both of your sites to the OP.

I had some issues yesterday moving SQL databases over. When have you tried? I just combed the logs and couldn't find any connections from your user or any unauthorized attempts.

We're currently pushing ~100Mh/s, earlier we hit 300Mh/s!

It's a trap

Logo looks nice, but I think it looks a little to simple. Also, instead of dark blue, try to keep the color scheme from the wallet. ;)

I had some issues logging in yesterday as well, had to change my password twice to get logged in. It must have been during the SQL table maintenance. However, everything seems to be in fully working order now. I would try hitting "forgot my password" and reset it. It worked for me. Now I'm making mad coin!

Maybe you must just stay there and leave this coin.

Not even a proper OP and you went camping haha (no roadmap).

I don't know who shit in your cornflakes, but I'm doing my best. I do not plan on ever leaving this coin. I have alot of stuff on my plate at the moment you would know nothing about. So yes, I went camping, I needed it. Now I can continue to work on the TrapCoin project. Unless you have some valuable input, you should probably just leave this coin and stay there. On the other hand, thanks for the tip. I'll be adding a roadmap as soon as possible.

I absolutely love all the effort you guys are putting in but the coins are too basic. The letter T or the word Trap isn't enough. There needs to be a logo or something to symbolize the coin. xtoff, you're heading in the right direction with the bear trap in the background but it doesn't quite symbolize the theme of the minecraft server. I have increased the bounty for the logo to 20,000 Pounds! That's enough to start staking nicely. I myself will personally pay the bounty as soon as I see something I like. Good luck guys, and once again, thank you. :)

Nice to see more people getting involved here.  Really appreciate the effort guys, even if your logo isn't selected as the winner.

BONUS BOUNTY

First person to produce a logo featuring a Transsexual Minecraft character hitting a bong/blunt/joint/whatever, gets 1,000 pounds from me.

It (probably) won't be selected as the final winner of the contest, this is more for shits and giggles.  I just wanna see what you logo monkeys can produce  :P, and find another reason to give away more coins  :).

Tbh, I hadn't thought about the logo too much and haven't discussed it with Ace_Of_Fades.  I'm kinda envisioning a blocky pot leaf, like how a pot leaf would look in minecraft or something, but I get the feeling that is just gonna look like an ugly mess no matter what and no one will be able to recognize what it is supposed to be.

Might wanna await further guidance from Ace_Of_Fades.  I'm not sure if he had anything specific in mind.

Last one, I promise then I am done. If you want me to change the image give me a link to the image you want me to add and I can change it out. This is just to change the color to match the wallet as you asked.

O if you do want me to change it to another image, it has to have a solid background color so I can pull it without including the background.

Since it's a coin about virtual drug deals, I think you might be on the right track with the one where the two hands are swapping cash for a baggie.  Maybe swap the green out for a dark purple background in the inner circle behind the hands, for contrast.  Change the font and make it bigger so the name of the coin stands out more.  Lighten the rest of the green on the coin, darken the green in the name of the coin.  Again, for more contrast.

Wait for Ace_Of_Fades to come back and check them out though before you spend too much time on this.  Like I said, I haven't discussed the logo with him and am not sure if he had anything specific in mind.  Don't wanna make a unilateral decision here.

I really like this one! It looks good as a thumbnail/icon and it displays the theme of the server! I only have two requests. Would you be able to make the font the same color as the purple background? And remove the word "coin" so it only says "trap". Other than that I think we might have a winner!  ;D

Dev it would be cool to see Trap on yobit.

I submitted the coin to yobit last Thursday as a premium listing. Yobit states it should only take two business days which has already past. I'm getting ahold of yobit at the moment to see what's going on. TRAP should be listed any time now.

If Trapcoin moves away from the initial cannabis relation to a minecraft coin, why would you put a cannabis leaf on the logo?

Ok, I consulted with Ace_Of_Fades and we have decided to suspend the logo competition.  We are going to be keeping the original logo.  I think we both always liked the original logo, but didn't say anything because when you do a takeover, a new logo just seems like the thing to do.  The original logo is very clean, simple, and professional looking.  You are all appreciated for submitting new logos and putting in the effort to come up with something new, but the original logo will be retaining it's place.

We have decided that we will be running a signature/avatar campaign to promote the coin, so we are opening a new 10,000 pound bounty to design a signature for use in the campaign.  It will be added to the ANN shortly.

I want to give a special shout out to draddog8 here.  I could tell you were really trying hard here and were responsive to feedback.  Even though the logo competition has been suspended, I thought you deserved a consolation prize for your efforts so I sent ya a little something.   ;)

It's still a weed coin.  If I understand Ace_Of_Fades correctly, his minecraft servers (and it's underlying economy) are going to be themed around weed and buying/selling of drugs.  It will always be a weed/drug coin, his minecraft servers will just be the first use case for the coin.

☛ Official TrapCoin Block Explorer ☚ (http://trap-coin.com:3001/)

What webserver do you use? You might want to obfuscate that port ;)

Looks good!

I'm hosting on an OVH VPS (https://www.ovh.com). Unfortunately, my apache server is currently using port 80 so I can't use it. However, I added an SRV DNS record this morning to my domain for explorer.trap-coin.com, it takes up to 48 hours to propagate. Once it does that port won't be there. ;D

very interesting design, parabens would be possible in the future add more games ?

Someday if other wish to implement the coin in other games, of course! My main focus is the minecraft server at the moment though.

Ah, I was going to suggest the Apache module mod_proxy:

Code:
<VirtualHost *:*>
    ProxyPreserveHost On

    # Servers to proxy the connection, or;
    # List of application servers:
    # Usage:
    # ProxyPass / http://[IP Addr.]:[port]/
    # ProxyPassReverse / http://[IP Addr.]:[port]/
    # Example:
    ProxyPass / http://0.0.0.0:8080/
    ProxyPassReverse / http://0.0.0.0:8080/

    ServerName localhost
</VirtualHost>

I use something very similar but with nginx :D

The server will be up within the month. It's going to be a drug server, if you don't know what that means, you should go play on one, they're loads of fun! It's survival with PVP and raiding allowed, players have to go far out into the wilderness and build a drug farm so nobody else can find it. You then sell your crops for money. So that you can purchase things or rankup. The server's economy is %100 player driven, which is rare to find nowadays. As absolutely no items will be spawned and there will be no Admin shops, aside from the place to sell your drugs. All the shops will be made by players and all donator perks/ranks will be purchasable with the in-game currency, TrapCoin. Stay tuned, if you love minecraft as much as me, it'll be a blast. I have two minecraft accounts, one I will be a player with and one I will administrate with. :P

You can keep the old wallet or upgrade to the new one. It's up to you. Both wallets are compatible. You can send SPL to a TRAP wallet and you can send TRAP to a SPL wallet without any problems. :)

I bought some too, for the 6 coins added to yobit today, this was the most organized and legit, i was right , the transactions on yobit are going smooth, no dumps or pumps, while the others 5 added are almost dead or no markets... gonna do some stake 8)

Well this coin is going to be used for something, making it useful. Also not to many people realize it but the total supply is just over 2 million coins. Making it quite rare if you take into account the total supply of other coins out there. Thanks for the positive feedback/support!  :)

Yeah, just setup your .conf like this :

server=1
rpcuser=anything
rpcpassword=anything
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=any random unused port

Save it as spliffcoin.conf (the references to spliffcoin should be cleaned out by the next release), restart your client.

Launch your mining program of choice by using 127.0.0.1:port as your -o and your rpcuser and rpcpassword as your -u and -p.

Don't be concerned it you aren't seeing shares being submitted.  You are mining full blocks so it won't say share submitted unless you mine a block.

Just a little FYI.  altpool.ninja is not paying out.  or maybe it's just me.

You are second person to say something.  Trying to get a hold of the guy who set it up.

so we have a pool?

Apparently not a working one.  Difficulty isn't too high right now.  Suggest solo mining until we figure out what is wrong.

Pool has paid out fine for me since I've been on. Front end can be slow to update and that might be what you're running into. Give it some time and I think you will find it's working fine. I will
watch for my next payout and see what's up...

It's looking like the session cookie is timing out too quickly, I'll get this fixed ASAP.

Just a little FYI.  altpool.ninja is not paying out.  or maybe it's just me.

The pool pays out after 120 confirms (120 blocks after the block was found), I haven't seen any issues with withdrawals.

Also, the payout script runs ever 5 minutes down from the original 30 minutes I set it to.

Last autopayout was at 22:45.. it's now 00:06

Please let me know if you have any issues, there is a support email listed on the site and I will make sure I handle anything that happens!

Edit: I just manually ran the payout script and immediately got my TRAP. Please again, let me know either via PM here or my support e-mail!

I've temporarily resolved the 'Token Expired' issue, it's a known bug for MPOS which should have been fixed by the devs but I believe it resolves around my unique setup for the pool.

That being said, the setting that was causing this has been temporarily suspended while I work up a final and secure fix for it.

At some point this weekend I'll be doing some minor maintenance which will bring the front end down, but you can still point your miner at the pool and shares will still count.

^^^ Looking awesome everyone!

Front end can be slow to update and that might be what you're running into.

This is something I've been trying to figure out as well, sometimes I see pool hashrate 2x the network hashrate. Hope I can get to the bottom of that!

Edit: You guys freaked me out a bit :P sitting here coding and saw I had a PM about the pool not working right!

Hi, I see there is an issue with the faucet.

Yesterday, I registered with a TRAP address, and claimed some coins then quit. After sometime, I tried to login again. It says "Sign Up". When I tried to sign up, it says "The address is already signed". Look into the issue.

There will be a high demand for the currency, that's the whole reason I'm working on this project. Buy giving the coin value in-game, hopefully a good portion of the supply will end up on the server. In turn increasing the value to what the minecraft server sees it worth. The coin will be used to purchase everything in game from items to new ranks and well... anything.

Are you using the same computer? It authenticates with two things. Your IP and your wallet. When you signup it links your IP to the wallet. So you need to have the same IP when logging into that wallet. If you're using a different IP, you must sign up again with a different wallet address. Just go to your wallet on the "receive" tab click "+New Address". The coins will still go to the same wallet.

UPDATES

- The dice site got hacked, so it will no longer remain live.
- Official mining pool (http://www.mine.trap-coin.com) is up and running! Figuring out hashrate display issue.
- After the pool is complete, all future efforts will be put into the minecraft server to get it finished asap.

Just to clarify: 23,301,296 people own Minecraft, but that does not mean any number of them will play on the official TrapCoin server. Anyone can make their own server for multiplayer minecraft, there is no guarantee that the server should see massive popularity, and it is not backed by the developers of MC. With that being said, there are Minecraft servers who see populations of tens of thousands of concurrent players. If the server offered through this altcoin is one of merit, it could gain popularity.

According to http://www.mine.trap-coin.com/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool

So POW is 98,024% done.

General rule 1 :

NEVER leave coins at pools.
Set minimum payout unless you really trust it.

That way you only lose 0,1-5 coins.

Im pretty sure the ninjapool wasnt anything offical for TRAP, or related to the TRAP coin.

"just a pool"

JimmyJones (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=353068), I'm sad to say this but I don't think Altpool.ninja will be coming back. The owner pdaily (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=828187) hasn't been on since May 4th. I've also been checking his domain everyday since it went down. I was mining there as well, I don't expect to see my coins again. :(

UPDATE TIME

I've been working profusely to get the minecraft server up and running with whatever time I get. My schedule is pretty jam packed as I have a 9 month old boy and a job. However, progress is coming along nicely, you know what they say "Slow and steady wins the race". The Trap Life minecraft forum/beta registration will be live soon. So if you play minecraft, stay tuned!

A new version of the wallet (https://github.com/Ace-Of-Fades/TrapCoin/releases/) has been released with some minor GUI updates. Check it out!

POW is almost done as well, according to speculation the price should start to go up more. So if you're debating on whether you should invest, now is probably the time to make up your mind. :)

What kind of specifications are we going to be looking at for the Minecraft server? Towny, enhanced survival, hardcore anarchy, pure vanilla, etc.? If you're looking for the Minecraft server to be an integral part of the crypto, it is imperative that it is a server that would coincide with a real world economy well. i.e. a minigame hub or prison server wouldn't make much sense to base a crypto economy off of. Vanilla survival is fine but the game is easy enough to where you don't need to do much trading -> little to no velocity for coins held on the server.

Vanilla survival is fine but the game is easy enough to where you don't need to do much trading -> little to no velocity for coins held on the server.

The specs for the server are as follows. It will be a drug server where users gain currency from going out far from spawn and building drug farms. They will then be able to sell their crops to the server for in-game currency(TrapCoin). With their money they will be able to purchase MANY things from ranks, commands, ETC. The server allows full pvp and raiding, so I've added a plugin that gives you 5% of a players balance if you kill them. The economy will be 100% player run. NOTHING will be spawned from the server. I'm not even including a starter kit. Every player will start with nothing. There will only be player shops. No server shops will exist except for the ones at which you sell your drugs. Now that I'm on the topic of shops, players will be able to rent out shop space to open up their own shops. They will also be able to rent out plots for building. I'm also incorporating a casino as well as a lottery. I've added many things for users to spend their money on and I'll be adding more. I've been playing minecraft since I was 14, I'm 20 now, just about 21 now. I've seen MANY MANY servers in my time of playing and I know what makes and breaks an economy. The beauty of it all is on other servers, users can purchase donor ranks and commands through FIAT currency. This will not be the case with Trap Life. Everything will be purchasable with your in-game balance. Some of the stuff (the /fly command for example) I have priced very high hence giving players something to save for. The equivalent of $1 in-game will be .0001 TRAP. I know it's not very high but that's the point. With the current price of TRAP, a player could go onto yobit and purchase 100 Pounds easily and have $1,000,000 in-game. It gives the coin more value in the server than outside. The more TRAP that ends up in the server the higher the price will go outside the server. You have to remember, there's just over 2.4 million coins in circulation, making TRAP pretty rare in comparison to others that have over 100 million. I've also purchased a xenforo license, I'm really hoping to get a strong community going. Honestly I could keep going on about the project but you're just gonna have to wait and see. It's currently 2:30am where I live, when I'm not working/looking after my kid I'm working on the server. I'm getting a little stressed because I want to get this server out to the public. However, I can't release it until it's prefect, I just can't. In the next little bit, I will be looking for beta testers, so if you're interested, stay tuned. I hope I answered your question.

Did you notice that this coin lost around 75% off his value in just few days. What will be done to not make it completely worthless. As you said earlier that the price should go up more.
POW is almost done as well, according to speculation the price should start to go up more. So if you're debating on whether you should invest, now is probably the time to make up your mind. :)

The drop in price is due to people dumping their coins. People only invest because they believe they will profit. When one person feels they aren't going to profit, they start to dump their coins and the price drops. Which in turn, makes everyone else dump their coins, making the price drop even more. It has nothing to do with the development of the project. I'm still hard at work getting the minecraft server finished. I'm actually thrilled the price has dropped! I currently own the largest percentage of the coins in circulation and now I can purchase even more to put towards the server. :)

Yes i can.

I quoted the devs' post for the two guys asking for news, being too lazy to read the last post of the dev, just two days ago.
And if they read it, they must have forgot it... so my advice for them, getting help before they run into serious problems.

So there is a GARGANTUAN problem with a crypto economy on a drug server. The way that drug servers work is that people grow crops (drugs) that they sell back to spawn in order to rank up in the game. You said that the economy will be player to player, but a large, large majority of transactions will be the server selling Trapcoin (in game currency) to the players in exchange for these drugs. Where will this Trapcoin be coming from? If it is being generated at will, there will be a massive hyperinflation of the currency, because making money on a drug server becomes exponentially easier over time (the more time you put into the game, the more money you can earn and the more your profits are increasing).

Now, if the economy truly is player to player, and there is no server shop to buy/sell from, you run into the problem that players aren't going to exchange trapcoin with one another. Farming crops is insanely easy, nobody is going to purchase any drugs from one another when they can easily hoard them.

There are other issues with the set up (/fly on a pvp/anarchy server is insanely unbalanced) but the main problem is that I just don't see how you could make such an economy work. One way that COULD work would be for the server to have its own wallet, and every rank up or perk purchase sends all coins into that wallet. Server shop has fluid prices based off of the size of the wallet and prices will depreciate/appreciate as the server bankroll decreases/increases. However, people will be trying to hoard their crypto more than they will try to spend it, so it's a very real possibility that in such an economy, server shop prices would eventually depreciate to 0.

Let me end this by saying I, too, have been playing Minecraft for quite some times. I've been heavily involved in a multitude of servers, including playing an active role in one server from its inception, to its appreciation to the #1 most popular server (back in Beta 1.8 ) to its ultimate demise. I have also designed server economies. I love Minecraft, and what I love in particular is the economic aspect. I know exactly what does/doesn't work. If you need any advice or would like some help, feel free to let me know.

You need to make a mini-exchange for the server.
When people buy TRAP ingame, there must be a bot doing a buy on some exchange.
Player-player transactions dont need to involve the server at all.. Just to people exchanging adresses.

This would also drive the prices up, as its the opposite of dumping.
Shouldt be too hard to make a script doing exchange buys at order.

The problem isn't the method of exchange, the problem is the type of server that trapcoin is to be implemented on. As far as Minecraft servers go, an in game currency that represents some denomination of the crypto is an absolute must. Things happen fast in MC. It takes only a simple chat command to send any amount of money from one player to another.

The problem is that drug servers typically operate on command economies: players farm drugs and sell them to the server (which is typically an entity with infinite spending). Players accumulate money and then buy upgrades and rank ups from the server. This is fine for a server where the in game currency has no real life value. In this instance, however, it's hard for me to believe that OP could foster an environment that isn't unplayable or suicide for the crypto.

The TrapCoin won't be coming from an infinite source. Not sure if you saw my post above, but I own approximately 13% of the TrapCoin in circulation. I'm using the chestshop plugin along with SQL economy bridge plugin. The chestshop plugin by default, has an infinite balance for admin shops. In the plugin config I have the server economy account setup. This makes it so the server doesn't just keep spitting out money when it doesn't exist. That along with the SQL economy bridge plugin, php jsonRPC and a php cronjob running at every 3 minutes, will keep the server balance updated to the actual balance of the TrapCoin wallet. So far that's all I've implemented for making sure that the funds in game are actually there. There's also a 50 million dollar player balance cap that I've set with essentials. This means the max amount of money a player will be able to withdraw at any time will be 5000 coins.

Your idea of having dynamic drug prices based on the server balance is truly genius. I had actually never thought of doing something like that. The only thing is, the current chestshop plugin doesn't have SQL support so updating the prices in the shop would have to be done manually. :/ I'm gonna do some looking around and see what I can do.

As for an exchange, I will be setting up a buy/sell category in the Trap Life forums. Selling TRAP will be open to anyone. Players that wish to purchase any will have to go through a verification process. I haven't fully worked out how it will work, but there will be an exchange.

Please keep shooting ideas/holes related to the server my way. Like I said, I'm truly glad you're bringing this stuff up.

Please keep shooting ideas/holes related to the server my way. Like I said, I'm truly glad you're bringing this stuff up.

There is a server called buxville that utilizes an economy with dynamic prices. I don't think it is still up, but essentially, there were several towns throughout the map that each had a handful of items players could sell to. One town traded farmables, one traded ores, etc. Everything had a starting price, but prices were entirely dependent on how much other products were being sold to the server. For example, if someone sold 100,000 carrots, the price of carrots would drop a considerable amount, let's say from $3 to $1.8. In addition, the prices of everything else, from diamonds to potatoes, would increase proportionally. Diamonds might go from $45 to $45.5 and potatoes might go from $3 to $3.10.

The benefit to this is that it encourages diversity among players, and establishes niches. Through a normal server shop, prices are stagnant, and players will quickly realize which few products have the highest payout. Everyone will farm those specific items, as they are most profitable. This wouldn't be the case, since the more of a single item that is sold, the less that item is worth. When I played on there, I specialized in selling steak, leather, and wool. I also sold enchantment tables and obsidian from time to time. Other players worked as traditional farmers and miners, and some others grinded more niche items like prismarine.

In this situation, it would be a little different for two reasons: 1) A Drug server offers a single shade of economy: farming. That's just what the gameplay is. 2) The currency is finite.

Now, could such an economy work with this set up? I suppose it could. The way I would do it would be to make the price of each drug fixed to a variable percentage. What I mean by this is cactus, sugarcane, etc. will have a % attached to it, and will be bought by the server for that percent of the total wallet. These percentages could be dynamic with selling, so that the more each crop is sold, the lower the percentage of that crop, and higher of others. For example: let's say there are three drugs that can be sold to the server: sugarcane, carrots, and cactus. Sugarcane will have a value of .0005%, carrots will be .001%, and cactus .0025%. One player sells his sugarcane to the shop, and as a result, percentages change to .0004%, .00105%, and .00255%. (actual numbers could vary). Prices will fluctuate with server balance and in respect to most commonly sold commodities.

Of course, this is not something that could be done with chest shop. It would most likely have to be manually coded.

However, there is still a glaring problem with this formula. The nature of drug servers is that players earn more the more they play. As players move up the ladder, they unlock new perks, expand their operations, and earn significantly more than those at the start. Couple that with the fact that players are going to be looking to withdraw their earnings, and you are going to see a wallet that will be rapidly depleting, barring new players from the game and thus destroying the server. Here's why I think such an event would be reality:

At the start of the server, the wallet will be at its highest balance. Some early players may use exchanges to give them a boost, and everyone at the start will be competing to reach the top. Once they do start to get closer to the top, they are going to continue selling, but now also withdrawing. Not everyone will put in what they take out, which will mean the server wallet will continually decrease. Even when players purchase ranks and perks, it is highly likely that high ranking players will suck the wallet dry whenever it is refilled. New players will not be able to make any significant income without spending outside crypto, which most players will be unwilling or ignorant to do. As a result, it will be hard to get new players on board. Established players will see diminishing returns and the lack of players at the start means even less money going back into the server wallet. This would ultimately lead to a dying server.

Of course, this problem would be nullified by the dynamic economy listed above, but such an economy would not erase it completely.

I'm not trying to shit on this idea, because I've played on a few servers that operate on crypto economies and I absolutely love the concept. I just don't see a plausible outcome for a traditional drug server to be successful while operating on a real world economy.

Quick question Dev, i know it was somewhat covered in one of your posts up there but not really. Lets say your server is up and running. If I buy TRAP on an exchange or already have trap can I send trap from my wallet to the MC server to be converted and deposited to my game wallet?

Just curious.

Couldnt the whole "problem" be solved by using TRAP as a main currency.
Like dollar or gold.
With the main currency, you can trade all the other currencies.

Lets make an example where TRAP is like dollar.

The TRAP currency is connected to the exchanges and blockchain.
But internally in the server, all kinds of goods can be traded, with TRAP as the unifier.
So if price of potatoes skyrockets, it wont affect TRAP, just how many potatoes you get for 1 TRAP.

Much like BTC is for altcoins ... we trade all kinds of weirdnesswith BTC as a measure of value.

No, the problem is that the set up of a traditional server is a command economy. Most of the trade is between server to player. You COULD remove the server shop and make the economy entirely player to player, but the problem with that is it is fairly easy for every player to accumulate every item. There wouldn't be much demand for just about anything, and removing the server shop would also defeat the purpose of a drug server.

The problem lies in the fact that currency has a real world value on a drug server.

I understand what you're saying. Basically long story short, since the in-game currency has real value outside the server. You believe that all the TRAP will slowly be depleted from the server wallet. So in other words, correct me if I'm wrong, there need to be a guaranteed way that the server wallet gets replenished?

My xenforo forum is now up. I've secured the domain name Traplife.ca (http://www.traplife.ca/) (.ca because I'm Canadian lol). It's currently setup to act as the server IP as well as the forum URL. Please create an account, I will have the forum open 24/7 and xenforo has a nice notification system so I'll be able to respond quicker.

TrapCoin

TrapCoin Source (https://github.com/Ace-Of-Fades/TrapCoin)
Gitian Inputs / Deps (http://www.mediafire.com/download/ake0zeemmgfggwf/Deps.zip)

Synopsis

TrapCoin is the official takeover of the Spliffcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1314875.0) project. As of January 1st 2016, the original dev (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=715154) has been nowhere to be seen. Leaving a well established coin to die off in oblivion. With the perfect opportunity for a takeover/rebranding I figured it would be a great time to put my idea in motion. Instead of having a pointless currency with no other value than being backed by bitcoin, TrapCoin will be backed by a player driven minecraft economy. The minecraft server is called Trap Life and is currently in development. Release is scheduled for the end May. Not to be confused with the term Trap from 4chan, where it defines a transsexual person. TrapCoin's name is based off of the theme of the minecraft server. With both cheap dumps on safecex as well as mining still underway. This coin offers equal opportunity for both people with expensive mining hardware and the ones who don't. The TrapCoin Project is currently being developed by SockPuppetAccount (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=406245) and myself. Due to my knowledge of compiling and web development I am taking the the lead of anything software related. Anything to do with bounties, promo, social media or even new ideas for the project will be through SockPuppetAccount.

Quick question Dev, i know it was somewhat covered in one of your posts up there but not really. Lets say your server is up and running. If I buy TRAP on an exchange or already have trap can I send trap from my wallet to the MC server to be converted and deposited to my game wallet?

Just curious.

When you need beta testers just let me know. Not a minecraft expert or anything but a MC noob like me just might issue that fail error command cuz i dont know wtf i am doing in the game :p lol :)

I apologize for not responding to your posts. They kinda just passed me by.

Anyways, I would love if you could be a beta tester. The server isn't in beta testing at the moment, but it will be soon. If you would like to get be contacted about the beta testing. Make sure to sign up at the Trap Life Forums (http://www.traplife.ca/). I will be opening a thread for registrations when the time comes.

To your second question, the answer is yes. There will be a web interface (through your forum account) that you will have the ability to withdraw and deposit coins from the game to your wallet, vice versa.

That's great! How does it work exactly? The TRAP POW phase has been over for a little while.

You are mining a coin in pool and choose which coin is paid to you. For example, you mine ltc worth .1 btc. The multipool now pays you trap for around .09 btc out. He has to buy this coins from exchange. So you have some buypower regularly.

Hmm so in order to provide the trap he buys from exchange and there bonus when using his multi pool?

NVM, so in other words we can increase the price of trap if we throw a crap load of hash at some crap coin there and have all the payout be trap so he'll have to buy trap for the currency exchange. Hrmmm. good deal, more hash = more trap coins forced to be purchased.

What kind of errors did you run into while compiling? D: I would assume since you're running the UNOMP pool, you're running linux. Just install the dependancies:

Code:
apt-get install libminiupnpc-dev qt4-qmake libqt4-dev build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev \libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev \libssl-dev libdb++-dev

Clone the git repository:

Code:
git clone https://github.com/Ace-Of-Fades/TrapCoin.git

Enter the TrapCoin directory:

Code:
cd TrapCoin

Allow write access to the leveldb folder:

Code:
chmod -R 755 src

Then do the following for if you want the QT or the daemon:

(In the root of the "TrapCoin" directory)

QT:

Code:
qmake
make

Daemon:

Code:
cd src/
make -f makefile.unix
mv Spliffcoind Trapcoind

The folder that holds the wallet.dat file and config is still called ".Spliffcoin" and the name of the config file is "Spliffcoin.conf"

To build the windows qt I use gitian-builder on Ubuntu 14.04 It's super simple and I've included a zip file in the OP with all the dependencies.

Having multipools mining a coin can kill it. (sending a bot out dumping the mined coin to buy something else to pay a miner)

Having a multipool doing pay outs in a coin not mined, will drive the price up. (sending a bot to buy TRAP for the value of other coin mined)

Good stuff if TRAP is in the second groujp.

When will the server exactly open?

Do you need some moderators?

Will we be able to spend TrapCoin IN the server? (With a simple command in game)

Thank you !

The server will be open when it's finished, I cannot give an ETA as I'm developing a plugin that is vital for it. Just know it will be soon. When the time arrives I will be creating a category on the Trap Life forums to accept applications for staff. I won't be giving the positions out to anyone though. Players will have to log many hours on the server before I consider them. And yes, Players will have the ability to spend their TRAP in the server.

I'm still here and working. ;D The website along with the block explorer was down for a little period of time. :( I apologize if it was an inconvenience for anyone. As for news, I'm currently learning/developing a vital plugin for the server as I stated prior. This topic will be there fist place for me to post updates, so stay tuned.

If anyone is reading this and has good a goog grasp on java let me know. I could use some help developing this plugin and am willing to pay BTC to get it done.

Yes, the coin is still going. I've run into the task of developing a plugin for the minecraft server. Unfortunately most of my coding knowledge is for web based application. So I'm learning as much java as possible so I can tackle this plugin. It's pretty much the last roadblock in making this coin flourish.

I guess most ppl sees the inactivity or lack of visible activity from the dev as a dead project.
This sux... this coin had such great potential, even without integration of minecraft servers.

The supply, the spread, the stability of the coin makes it good.
If the minecraft thing doesnt work out.. i still think it can be used for something.

But ANY activity from devs are required for coins not to die away.

If the dev published his source and let us know what he was having issues with some of us may be able to help out.

Yep that too.

And even just as a "coin" .. its low supply makes it valuable. It could easily triple in value with some activity.

The amazing thing is that its still at 100ish sats.

And now there is 19 active nodes. thats an increase from last week.

This coin had one of the best potentials of small alcoins in 2016.
(Even not considering the minecraft thing... just the coin and its specs makes it good by itself.)

just a pnd coin. :p -- unwatching

Published an explanation of what's going on in the OP. Not a PnD coin, just a coin that was abandoned.

If you plan to rebrand or try something else with this coin, thats fine.

If you abandon it and make a new token on a new chain, or a new ico .. you will lose all credibility.

I love how people make their having children our problem ? Don't have them in the first place it is your own fault you have one.
We really don't need anymore people in this world just like we don't need anymore shitcoin, it is over crowded, damn people are selfish.

THE POW phase is over and the coin is already established. This is great because I don't need to worry about anymore mine dumps. I will not be leaving this project/blockchain, so no worries there!

I never made it your problem or anyone elses for that matter. You have some deeply rooted issues you need to get worked out if TrapCoin was a problem for you..... I don't even wanna get started on the first part of your post. I guess whatever helps you sleep at night.

i guess it's time to restart the promotion and exposure of this coin, have it translated to some other languages to introduce the coin to those non-english community, i suggests to hire some translator to do the job, on that case hire me to do the Filipino translation.

Coin_Trader, stay tuned. I won't be needing a translation until the re-brand occurs. When it does I will be offering bounties for translation pages.

I'm truly sorry that I disappointed you and others by making this coin appear dead. I will be starting a SLACK for this project later this evening. That way users can IM me directly so I receive notifications on my phone. As well as post frequent updates. I don't want people left in the dark here.

Glad to see you're back. Are you still planning to implement Trapcoin onto some Minecraft server? I'd still be interested in playing on it.

Unfortunately, minecraft will be partially taken out of the equation. Considering the new focus of the project is aimed at hosting though. Minecraft server hosting is a very foreseeable feature.

Thanks for the welcome back!  :)

You haven't replied to my question yet though.

Minecraft hasn't any public server, there are only private servers.

YOBIT has now been desynched.

They will not likely fix this unless dev pays the money.
So i guess, dead now?
