Her took 70 BTC then removed all the web sites and everything. the ICO was through Bittrex. is there any safety net there? I didnt put a lot in just simply o.2 BTC but still scams anger me greatly. Just goes to show ICO's are very very risky.

Since Bittrex added EDON, WAVES and STEEM ICO's I withdrew all my funds from there and only trade on Polo now..

Bittrex should refund all those funds if this is a scam because they couldnt be released to the developer(s) yet?

This is just incredible, especially given the fact that he could have used the Bittrex escrow. Must be ridiculously rich to toss that much down the shitter.

Maybe he thought it was another Lisk or Waves ICO with legit developers.

Rich people never throw away money and are extra cautious, apparently this guy didn't care, this kind of major mistake has to hurt.

Tiny Cryptocurrency history tells us that about 95+% of all ICO coins turned out to be a scam... But hey... Keep buying them.. Keep on filling up the pockets of con artists...

Why do you buy into an ICO? Simple.. Greed.. You assume/hope you can make a nice profit and dump them on the market to some dumbass who missed the ICO and is willing to pay more the the original ICO price.. Amazing how some jpeg design images can make people think like that..  :)

Actually I never expect to make money from ICO's I do it to get some of the cheap coins. I usually sell to get my initial investment back and HODL

This was funniest example of greediness when there is no technology exist and dev think it can make fool people easily there, i also was in shock to see the ask price on bittrex and it made me ROFL there but no truth came out.

I understand that... And that is sort of the same as what I said.. But worked out different ;)

Anyway... Leave ICO's guys... This will not be the last one of this kind.. This "dev" just received capital to create 10's of other ICO coins.. lol.. (If the 220 btc story is true)

The project didn't look very shady honestly... up until the random ICO announcement with no substance behind it.

This is kind of just victim bashing, since when did wanting to profit off of an investment become a bad thing? The incentive to allocate resources to the things that are good is what drives the world forward, and without this "greed" the good projects wouldn't be able to get the funding they need and deserve.

Of course people should watch out for scams (and for that matter, for projects that aren't worth investing in even if they're well intentioned), you can say they should have been more careful or recognize whatever warning signs, but blaming the desire to make money is misguided.

First question. Did they reveal who they were? If I don't even know who's behind a coin why risk it and hope it's not a scam?

I just can't understand how one feels when buying an un-launched nothing new to offer coin with a made up marketcap.. I never understood that..

In the future i recomend that ANY new ICO have at least a RESUME thats verifiable online with a Known Linkdn account and facebook and Somebody to vouch for them that is known in the community or at least pass the icocountdown.com team's Verification Process and get Regsitered with them.

Tbh is was very clear from te beginning that this was scam. Dev never responded to any technical questions.

I had wanted to participate in the ICO, but after reading a few threads about EDON better then I canceled my intention that was it.

But until now I still follow the news update

Good thing i followed my instincts and i dont have BTC to invest in that scam developers, waves is more legitimate than that.

This was more than suspicious from start, also bittrex is not scam. They simple add anything which can cause them profit.

my reputation to Bittrex was they do strict KYC for every ICO entry. However, EDON was listed in Bittrex. what kinda trick they made?

Do not visit the website, it could contain malware or if there is a login, it can steal your usernames and passwords.

How did this coin passed the vetting process of Bittrex  ???

although early bird bonuses are very tempting (designed to be exactly that) i never invest in an ICO at the beginning of the offer period. i wait for the coin's bitcointalk thread to begin to reveal the truth about the project. I'd rather have less of something than more of nothing. Edon was on my list (as is every ICO proposal)...and now it isn't.

That's exactly what I would like to know. Bittrex worked fine for refunding but It was not strict as I expected.

   

Bittrex supported nicely, refunding the money back.

I didn't put much into this but happy to see bittrex refunding it.There must be a better way for exchanges to vet these things?
