Back in 2010, a guy asked me if I want to buy his 10K bitcoin for $20 AlertPay.
Guess what? I wasn't interested in his offer as I never heard about bitcoin before that and thought I have no use with it.

I came to know about bitcoin in December 2013 when the price was at $1000USD per BTC.

What I did with that $20? Lost to a scam HYIP.

If only I accepted his offer, I'd be a millionaire. That shit still makes me sad everytime I remember.

Luck did knocked my door, but I was dumb enough to ignore  ;D

How about you guys? Ever had an experience like me? ;D

UPDATE: Even if I have bought it from him, I'd sell it to someone even each BTC was $10 worth. I'm so impatient you know xD

I remember reading about bitcoin in the very beginning of the network... The diff must have been pretty low back then. I read a tutorial on how to mine, set everything up on my desktop pc, and even mined for a couple of days.
I can't even remember if i ever hit a block, but if i did, i did nothing with the coins (they were "worthless" back then).

well, i have missed the biggest opportunity of all times which is buying bitcoin when it was below $10, and i think everybody else here feels the same way too.

but from the time i have started using bitcoin and from the time have decided to seriously invest in it i have never missed any low price, dip or any decline to buy bitcoin, i am always all over it.

I was dumb enough to buy 10 bitcoins back then and have them traded for paypal money as I was short of funds to pay my Internet Bills.If I could have saved them,I could pay my internet bills for quite few years .The future of bitcoin is unpredictable,its always wise to store around 10 bitcoins in your cold storage apart from the regular uses.

Yes, it really is a bad idea to underestimate anything.
I've learned my lesson and saving the altcoins which I've earning from faucets. Just hoping they'll rise as BTC too  ;D

I did not missed any chance, as from the time when I heard about bitcoin the price is increasing and I am considering each dayas a good time to buy bitcoin because tomorrow I know the price will be at a more higher peak.

Yeah it happens to me a couple of times. When the price is just to stable for a long time I usually do not pay much attention at that period because I know that nothing will happen. But I was wrong and missed out on some chances.

Sigh... "if only I know" is really not going to help... Just forget about it and move on.

By the way, Ethereum's ether is $8.66 at the moment so maybe you can consider buying a few hundreds? Who knows?

This happens to almost all newbies I think just like me. I thought price will continue to plunge last year around August 2015, I keep on telling my self not yet until I realized I just missed the opportunity from $218 to $322 after 3 months. That should have been 100+ % profits.

I first heard about Bitcoin about a month before MtGox fell. So the price was already high.

However, I was just prepared to buy some (some more) this year when it was around 230$ and, since I didn't like the fees from the Pay Point machine, I looked for other option. Bad luck, until I found the better choice, the price started to rise. So I waited to fall back. It didn't..yet  ;D


About ETH & Co: there are threads with maybe 100s of coins that are already worthless. ETH can rise to the sky or can become 0. You just don't know.
The trick is to sense the change, buy low, sell high and hold only if you REALLY believe it will rise a lot.

You'll say that's the same with BTC too and I agree; just with BTC the chance to become worthless is much smaller imho.

Lot of time i have tried to buy but due to lack of fiat currency i was not able to buy it, only in starting i bought at $230 and sold it at $450 but after that i did not gotchance to buy low.

A similar situation happened to me also back in 2014. that time bitcoin price just 200$ and some one offer my and tried to convince me to buy bitcoin and safe them for future. but I din't believe him just like you.. but your lost is much bigger then me.

you missed a big chance. if I were in your place I may do the same thing which you have done. that time bitcoin wasn't that much trusted. a new born baby.
but now you are doing faucets of altcoin and hoping for the same chance. lets see. but I don't think so any altcoin will rise as btc.

Really a sad incident. Now you understood the real potential of bitcoin. Likewise several users right now hesitate to hold and use bitcoin, but in the later years people will realize and feel sad as you felt now.

It's okay, it's not that you who had experienced this kind of thing. I believe there's so many people did that too, so don't be sad about this because you're not alone.

I had the opportunity to buy Bitcoin when the price was below $200 but I hesitated thinking it would go down even more and in the end I missed a golden chance to double up my investment. Now I am hoping for another rally to $1200 like in 2013  ;D

That was your golden goose eggs but it was not meant to be. I remember alertpay. It was a highly charged service so you would of paid an extra $2-2.50 to send that $20 for that 10 bitcoin.  :D Still it would of well worth it but who would of known how much they would cost now. Only if you were a time traveller or a physic.

That was many years, at the time I was into PTCs and HYIPs.
Now I don't even remember who that guy was. If I remember, I'd go and ask him what happend to the BTC he wanted to sell to me.

I assume he might have already sold to somebody.

yes many times but via mining with many shitcoin that were worth nothing to mine and then skyrocket for no reason to an unbelievable reason

but nothing can match the missed early train of bitcoin mining, where you could mine 10k bitcoin in few days...

The best moment to buy BTC have been under 1$, second best moment is right now.

I learned about bitcoin early 2010, mined and hit a block. I was like, meh. But I hit another one just as the price of a bitcoin hit $10. Can you believe it? Is was CPU mining! Hah! I sold my 100 BTC at $12 as the price was plateauing. I'm such a sucker.

first time i was heard about bitcoin i was also not interested to find out because i was never thought too the prices will so high and so popular now and actually i had regret too sometimes because i'm not a part of bitcoin when the prices very cheap but we can't go back in those years so just enjoy what you got from bitcoin today

Yeah I had this one time I was just to greedy to buy if I had just waited longer I could have bought more bitcoins. It is a mistake I made in the pas and I am learning from it and will not make the same mistake again.

Yep, when I first heard about Bitcoin it was back in early 2013 when the price was still 2 figures. I ignored it because it was always linked to illegal activities so I didn't want to do anything with that. Thanks to the disinfo agents in the media that made those accusations, I ignored it and missed the opportunity to become a millionaire.

Now that it was at 200-250 dollars for the past months, I didn't make the same mistake and I bought as much as possible.

In the next years people will envy the guys that were able to buy it at 3 figures.

it is never too late. even now bitcoin is still consider new and most of the world know nothing about it. I knew bitcoin last year when the price was $200:250 but I did not buy because I could not afford to invest in this timee

You have a chance now, you can buy BTC at $430,  five years from now, may be you will say: oh, my god, BTC price is 4000!!!........ why did I sell it at $440? Luck did knocked my door, but I was dumb enough to ignore.....:)

in bitcoin we will never be late because bitcoin always profitable. and we can always get profit. so if you missed a chance then don't panic and get enter again to bitcoin.

Obviously you had no use for Bitcoin back in 2010 because basically no one accepted Bitcoin. Very different situation today, thus higher demand and price.

I dont think you could know Bitcoin become few years later so much more used and valuable - and I dont think any altcoin can make the history repeat from cents to 1 000 USD, or over 10 000x increase !

You really missed a good chance, but I didn't know anything about bitcoin back in 2010, I learned about bitcoin early 2015 when it was 170 USD a very good value, yet I thought it can't rise much more which I was wrong and I regret that moment for not buying, but I know I don't regret it as much as you do   :-\

I was lucky, I looked at Bitcoin/Silk Road when it was about 6$, didn't do anything, came back 1 or 2 years later and it was still about $6, i thought " wow it's still the same price as way back then, hasn't moved at all". Then the price started climbing and I started buying. Only after investing did i realise that it had gone to $32 and crashed to $2 in the time gap. If i'd known that I probably wouldn't have invested so much or maybe anything at all for worrying about it crashing again. Now my average buy in price is $13 and I'm thankful every day for Bitcoin.

I wasn't lucky enough to come to know about bitcoin when it was dirt cheap but just the last year the price was hovering around $200 mark and did buy some of it but I wish I had bought more, since whatever was bought then would have doubled this year.

I wonder if there is an altcoin which has a bright future that no one is paying any attention to right now.

I had the opportunity to buy some coins at $100 but lost that chance due to having to pay my utility bill for that time. It was a shame but that was a while ago so I got over it.

Since I'm new to bitcoin, it's quite safe to say that I've let a lot of opportunities pass me by to get a hold of bitcoins at a lower price. But I'm still optimistic that the price has a long way to go, so rather than miss another chance, I'm starting to accumulate little by little, and do cost averaging.

when i heard about bitcoin the first time, the price was so high, i don't remember the exact price but it was around 900-1000 USD back then so i didn't miss anything by not buying.
but so far from that time i had the chance to buy at the stable $220 price so i guess i will never miss out on anything else.

That's what I'm thinking too, but unfortunately. We do not know we miss the opportunity.
Sometimes shit happens. I was listening to a few people's word of mouth and invested in a few coins. They did rise a few satoshi, but I believed in them and kept on waiting assuming the price gonna up more.

But guess what? It dropped back to 1 satoshi :|

I know about it but ignored it, because i was too BC designing logos at 99designs which i hate so much spec work is the worst, i should have bought when the price is at 10 or something.

Probably right, AND hopefully segwit implementation won't break anything to keep this true. For me, segwit is an indication that devs (pushed by miners and other whales) can lead bitcoin to any direction, so hopefully no one ever will come up with an idea to change any (or all) of the following:
-halving interval
-block reward halving rule
-total BTC supply

Buying bellow $1 doesn't automatically make you a millionaire. I know many people who bought btc in single-digits range and have exactly 0 btc at the moment.

You would need to have iron stomach to be able to buy 10k for $20 and still hold majority of it.

Thinking  of missed opportunity, as something you wasn't able to take advantage of and therefore you are at fault is not healthy for your psychic condition.
We all miss something, we are not perfect, we have no knowledge of the future. The best way it to focus on the present and look into the future, mistakes are the part of life.

Not one chance but lots of chances i missed the train to buy at a lower price, because i was very angry i didn't like the bitcoin when the price was really low. I remember when the price was at $200s and i though bitcoin was gonna die.

I heard about Bitcoin a few times back in 2010 but never bothered to read about it. The cheapest I could've bought at is around $185 (Jan 2015) which is the lowest Bitcoin has dropped to since its rise. Unfortunately I missed that one too  :'(

When I knew bitcoin last year and I was too regret since bitcoin ever reach $1000 / btc . If I knew early, I will buy bitcoin and hold it for sure. Ofcourse nobody can expect this can happen but for now, since I've known bitcoin, I will hold bitcoin until it reach prefered value

I had the chance to buy coins below $200 last year but I kept waiting too long which made me miss that great opportunity.

Luckily I made the decision to buy around $250 and from that moment I have been holding all my coins without selling anything.

I am always staying sharp so I am not buying at a high price and buy it for a low price that is possible so your chance to get some profit will also be much higher and that is nice.
But some people are greedy and than they are buying it too early for a too high price and than that would be difficult that you can make profit with it or you have to wait a long time.

there was a time when bitcoin price dropped to 380$, i was plan to bought the coin with my saving, but one of my friend keep telling me that government will banned the coin and then it will became a worthless coin, so i stepped back and didnt bought any of it, and now the price is already at more than 400$, it was my fault to listen to my friends advice

I also had this, but I even could buy them on a longer amount but the bitcoin future was so insecure that I was scared to do this.
After all I now made a couple invests to get some bitcoins, I bought them around the 170 dollar back then.

I am sure we all have our regrets.
Whether it is the stock market, bond markets, bonds, bitcoins... Hindsight always shows us missed opportunities.

Countless times! I look at charts and think "well, it can go lower obviously!" and wait for a lower price... Next thing I know the price climbs :D And vice-versa :)

Well if this halving thing rockets bitcoin to the moon like so many people are predicting, then whatever price we can buy at now is going to be a missed opportunity, post-halving.  Now I happen to think the event is already priced in, and I've said that over and over but you can never underestimate the gamblers here.  They may just drive up the price in anticipation.  But I'm not losing sleep over it.

I ever missed the chance for once. One day i waiting the price of bitcoin decrease, because i want buy it. But when it happened i can't online on that time. It's sucks though, because i already wait for it.

I know how you feeling bro, it happend to me too. I always missed the chance to buy when it's cheaper, and if ever I got a chance to buy at a minimal price and if I'm holding it, it kept on dropping until I was scared at some point and sold the BTC I had, coz I didn't wanted to take anymore loss and guess what? The F'in price started rising once I sold -_-

I feel that bro, when im waiting to down the bitcoin price, it never happen, but when i used the money for foods, the bitcoin price is at the low price but i cant buy because i use the money that i want to invest in bitcoin, I think the tactics of all traders is wait at 12mkidnight thats the time the price is going down.

I actually received my first coin at $109. I'm not too worried about prices anymore though.

its easy to miss chance of getiing bitcoin at a cheaper price because the price is gonna rise ;) we need go let go of the fact, that bitcoin will stay constant. bitcoin is going to rise, so HODL :D

You are right the price will be more than the price of today on the day after tomorrow it will be more higher, so today is the chance to get it at cheap price and don’t miss the chance we have today and have to buy it.

I really feel that i have missed the bitcoin price as i have got the knowledge of bitcoins too late and most of time now the price is high, but their will be more high so feeling of past price better to check for future price.

Nothing too dramatic. I remember staring gormlessly at an exchange a short time before the explosion and thinking 'nah'. It went up $200 overnight but I resisted buying any more.

Well, I also lost a good chance to enter this bitcoin world at earlier stages, but no matter, things are as they are and we can't change the past. It is true that nowadays it is much more difficult to get such great amount of bitcoins, but if better predictions come true and bitcoin achieve astronomic prices, we still are at a good time to acquire many of them.

I missed the train on ether. I remember brushing it off as just another alt a LOONG time ago when a friend told me about it and it was practically worthless. Could've made a solid amount of cash if I'd just put even a tenner into it back then!

sadly i only heard about bitcoin in 2012, and bought a few miners, only 1 miner arrived out of the multiple i have bought, and it arrived late too, so it barely made a profit. The others were complete losses as they never arrived so i basically got scammed.

If i had spend all that money on bitcoin instead, it'd still not be a millionaire, or even close, but at least i'd have more than 10 times the amount of bitcoin i have now.

Even still, i consider myself still to have quite a reasonable amount of bitcoin, and if it catches on i should still be quite rich, and possibly a millionaire if it really catches on.

But probably i won't be a millionaire any time soon.

There are many chances to make a fortunate in life. But nothing like Bitcoin, I mean , 10 times considered to be enoumous, but Bitcoin, thousands.

Not just some. Obviously, almost all the people who missed the opportunity will always regret. Not many will admit, they comfort themself so it won't hurt them  ;D

I think no need worry or regret for missing that but one should feel happy that they didn't buy any bitcoins when prices was 1000+. Who ever brought bitcoins at 1000+, now it is more than two years prices still not reached that price yet and those people may not buy any bitcoins in future. No one was knew at that time the prices of bitcoins will raise so much. It has happened suddenly and came down suddenly. I also entered into this bitcoin business when prices was about 200+ but so for made decent profits but never regret for missing low prices.

Yeah regret is just nothing can do with that better to move on you are the same guy that never attracted to bitcoin at that time because the price of it before is low. Im very sure your afraid to stake at that time because you afraid to lose money But its ok its time to move on. But i think it is miss oppurtunity to you at that time but the luck is not for you so lets continue to earn today and dont be sad for what happen in the past because as long bitcoin exist we are still earning by it.

interesting questions and responds. i have to say the only chance i have missed in bitcoin is the chance to mine it back when you could mine bitcoin at home and price was going to the moon. from that time until now i have tried my best not to miss these golden opportunities to get on the train before it leaves.

Maybe, or could be that he might have had to hold if no one has bought and sold when the price was at $1000?  

I don't know, I'm just curious to know what happend to that guy and his 10K BTC, but I don't remember who that guy was. It was those days when I used to use yahoo messenger and it's been years since I touched it. ;D

But sometimes bitcoin price instead more down from while you bought it for long time enough. Bitcoin not always grow up the value but occasionally in cheap price in few week even months

yeah, a couple of years ago you could turn your pc on and with a decent GPU you could do some solo mining bitcoin and earn a lot of money, because the difficulty was super low and also it was at the same time when the price was only increasing.
i had a friend who did this and i was too lazy to learn how to do it and start doing it.

Whenever such question is asked , I remind of the time when the price of bitcoin actually hiked dramatically from  almost zero dollars to a huge billions of times when it hit the market . The more unfortunate thing that happened was, the guy from whom I got to hear about bitcoin could not explain things correctly else I would have enough bitcoins today !

Nah it is all good.  I think we will miss many more opportunities in the future too. Who know maybe ETH will become next big thing or some other altcoin will revolutionize market?
Or we will have some amazing $10.000 price spike? We have no idea, stop worrying about these things as you have no influence over it...

we lost some time and some great opportunities but don't lost everything. there are still big chance to take a good place in bitcoin world. and I am doing this.

I have had a couple of opportunities to get cheaper Bitcoins when the price was below $100 which is not a massive discount considering some people have got thousands of coins for pennies but even comparing it to the current surge in price it would have been a nice profit should I have gone through with the purchase. The truth is I was afraid that I was going to lose my investment and that is my biggest regret. I guess success in life only favors the bold and I didn't seize the moment oh well   :-\

I dont have story like you,but i am sure all people hre ever missed chance to not buy bitcoin when the price is going so cheap,i ever see bitcoin price on $200,but i dont thin its will rise again,so i just sell all my bitcoin,its sad missed.

I once bought bitcoin at a price of 280 USD and now the price of bitcoin reaches 450USD. I am very happy because I can be a multiple of money here. I feel my sacrifice during the past year to save bitcoin in my wallet is a very appropriate choice.

when i started using bitcoin, the price was high and it has came down only from that time to $200, anyways i didn't have money to buy any back then.
but after the price was low (200-250) i had some money from working and also made some money from trading which i used to buy bitcoin when it was low so i can say that i haven't missed the chance because i don't pay attention to the FUD that were being spread back then about crashing ....

I wouldn't say that I miss that chance of getting btc at cheaper price. I ask my self often how didn't I see it earlier? I'm active member of bitcoin community from last year, from the moment I saw it on internet I earn and use bitcoins almost everyday.

When I saw price of btc for the first time it was 217 $, today price is 454 $. I think its very good progress for less then one year.

No I didn't miss the opportunity, I bought when the price was $250 in  the past and also when it was $400  so I made profits everytime I bought.

Yes we do not have to think about what passed in the past and we do not have to be fearful about that bitcoin will stay constant in price the price is going to increase and will not come back in this year so hold for more time.

If every person in the world had ONE bitcoin or close to it, first of all it will be impossible, and secondly one bitcoin would be worth a million dollars.

I never miss a chance on that price offer,in my country bitcoin still not popular in 2010,its why nothing people talk about bitcoin in social media,its different with nowdays,so many people offer about bitcoin,and talk bitcoin everywhere.

It has nothing to do with the country bro, the price will be same in all countries. Maybe only a few cents difference depending on the buy and sell value. Neither it was popular in my country.

No never I always have attention for the Bitcoin price, when it is changing I am always aware of it. And on top of that you have to be patient becuse of you are going to act greedy you will make this mistakes allot of times.

this is massive profit,because you dont need do anything,just buy and wait. its make us keep believe that bitcoin is good investement,and also make people wan't to spent their bitcoin,they always hope the price will raise up more and more.

I think what he was saying was back then at late 2013/early 2014, the price of bitcoin was fairly low and it was widely used in the deep web (e.g. Tor Market). That time, the price was only around $100 and then at some point still during early 2014, the bitcoin price suddenly hit $1000 and a lot of people started dumping bitcoins and making so much profit that probably contributed to the decline of bitcoin value.

sad to read it, believe me, if i lost an opportunity as you had.. af... but you should consider the fact the current price is still "cheap", so, replying to your main question i must say, no, i didn't lose the opportunity to buy cheap bitcoins since i really consider now are "cheap" too.
