The reason they drew a line with regard to the account age is so that people can't just make a ton of new accounts and get multiple disbursements. Nobody knows (except possibly an admin/mod) whether you already have another account on this forum.

Its value should be based on now. For me, I have a couple of bitcoins and while I would like to imagine that one day they will be worth $3k a piece, the reality is, its unlikely in the next few years. .1 of a Bitcoin is £1.70 or so, and that's worth wasting on 50k ripples - that is half the price of a McDonald meal - I can afford it! As for the value, it is anti-spam. So, what is the BTC cost of transactiion for anti-spam? (0.001 BTC?? I don't know) Ripple should be the same. If values stays low (as it is now), an attack will occur and require a increase in the fee to make attack costly to the attacker. We'll just see how it all plays out. Fun stuff!!! You shouldn't be holding any more XRP than you really need.
