There will be plenty more giveaways.  They haven't even given away 1% of XRP yet, so don't worry.

I registered before the due date. But still can't post there as I'm considered a newbie.

I tried to send you a bit, but it says the transaction failed "The destination account does not exist. Too little XRP sent to create it."

The minimum reserve for an account is 200, and I believe you need to send 300 to create an account. Really, you should send more, because 300 is only the bare minimum – it's enough for an account, one trust relation, and transactions.

I also missed the deadline by a whisker. Frustratingly, gateways like Bitstamp cannot fund your account unless you trust them, but you cannot trust anyone until your account is funded(?!) I need a way to get past this barrier or my Ripple account is frozen and useless.

I have 50k ripples from the give away I'm willing to part with. Either 0.6 BTC or for 1,250,000 DVC will buy the whole lot.

XPR sold for 0.5 BTC

I wouldn't worry about it Wink

true. I think XRP will be in ample supply. Bitstamp and other gateways are likely going to be giving them out for free with account or whatever.

Limiting the giveaway is probably done to limit the amount of users using ripple at this point while the infrastracture is being tested / fixed / scaled up.

No...but from what I hear, you can buy crack with bitcoins. (Joke..but seriously you can) . I'm not sure what to make of this ripple thing yet tho...I won't go through the trouble until it has a decently large/growing user-base.

Ripples are a ponzi, and that's their saving grace, since everyone knows they pre-mined 100 billion of these - so ripples are the worst investment in the world - they don't want us to invest. They've made it explicit. 'Don't invest in ripples, invest in ripples and make us rich'. It's built into the system.
Ironically that's why ripple may succeed.
