There is more than one letter required to complete the sequence though. The 26 English alphabet letters are used, not a foreign language.

Yeah - guessed it wouldn't be that easy. :) I looked at the idea of a repeating pattern so simply divided AKMNR into AKMN R and tried to repeat the AKMN pattern starting a R (wrapping around from Z back to A). Molecular has a correct answer (might not be the one deepceleron wants) but it does fit with the hints. If it was lowercase the only clue would be "k".
