He is right. Nothing is free unless there is a catch. As the OP is trying to be more cryptic and geography specific, It could be for a real ID or similar things. His act can be spammy or illegal or both.

Not giving my ID for such a low amount, for 50000 USD maybe but still no if OP doesn't tell me what he will do with my ID . How do I know OP doesn't need it to clone credit cards or doing even worth things, registering in some shady website with my data. He wanted a clear selfie of you holding government issued ID (drivers licence or passport.) And a clear picture of the ID itself.

And why someone want something like that? imo only to impersonate wrong person. Or to fake ids. Because nobody else woulud give you 500 Dollar for that.

So be careful with this, he may say he has figured out way to always win from gambling or something but it is not true.
Just think about it, he he really could do that where would he need you? He could just play with his own money if he would really win every time.

I was expecting something like needing my ID with a Selfie or something like that.  I would have loved him to have followed through, for I would have him use escrow and I would have sent him something that would have been red flagged, so when he tried to use it, he would be picked up for something very bad!!  Then I would have had the pleasure of keeping his $500 and thinking about all of the bad interrogation techniques they would be using on him/her!!
