Not really surprising to me. I have been saying that bitcoin will go to $500 or even $600 at the time of halving. Seeing it happen right now is no big surprise.

Still have to get to the $1100 mark and exceed it though. It would be interesting to see what happens next.

Meh, it seems to me just like another pump. Simply does not look as a beginning of a trend. It s still 30 days too early.

wooah! I was surprised! Yesterday I just checked it,ut was 449$ but now yeah its amazing!

One among the long time expectation of bitcoin user had come true. At the same it haven't sustained long. Now its around $490, but rise has begun.

I won't be so surprised til it reaches $1000 that only happened once before.
Anyway, this $500 rate is quite good tho for selling some of my Bitcoin to buy some stuff.

The hard point was to hold the price over 470$, now it can go really fast to 700$

I bet we will see over 1000$ again before the halving.

This is indeed a good news to all bitcoin holders but this is expected and experts have predicted this as early as december we expect more price increase

the price of bitcoin was kept down for a long time because of the dumps and also the FUD that shills spread. but all these things can only work for some time they cannot keep it down for a long period of time.

plus after the ETH pump, the big investors dumped it on top and now have a lot more money at hand to invest in bitcoin.

So much for all the people who for weeks and months have been saying the halving has already been priced in.  Anyone still believe that with halving still well over a month away?

yes bitcoin already exceeded 500 USD. it is a fantastic figure. bitcoin will have higher prices. I believe, the future of bitcoin is still very long.

I haven't expected such a big prise increase in just 2 days wow! The price jumped $30 and $20 respectively overnight and I begin to wonder if this is the final price adjustment or the value will continue to grow in the remaining days till the halving and even after that. Do you guys think this event is just an early pump by impatient speculators or Bitcoin was simply underpriced and this rise was just a normal price correction because of the upcoming block reward halving? Anyways whatever happens just hold onto your Bitcoins and don't sell  ;D

I predict a bitcoin could touch the figure 600USD. Today the movement is very fast and so incredible. bitcoin market showed a very positive opportunity. I take a lot of advantage today. extraordinary.

It just hit $507 just a while ago. I believe that's the highest price in 2 years since the downtrend.
I expect it to slow down soon and get a correction, though. Maybe somewhere above $480.

yeah I hope this can be continued when prices have continued to rise significantly. but bitcoin will not like it bitcoin movement when the pump will surely rise. but we will not know when it happened so still be careful to market movements. remained calm dude

Wow it has been a hectic week $50 in just 2 days who would have imagined such a turn of events like this  :o I think this is probably an early pre-pump but if people continue to buy back into Bitcoin the doubling of the price may not seem like science fiction any more right?  :D If the value stabilizes itself eventually around $500 before the halving it is very likely we could reach as high as $600-$700 in the fall and hopefully $800-$900 in the winter and hit $1000 in January 2017. There have been a lot of naysayers lately speculating how Bitcoin's price has corrected itself already and how people are dumping Bitcoin to buy alt coins which is clearly not true. We are on the right track guys keep holding that Bitcoin stash and don't let it go  ;D

I see this as very positive sign and preparation for some huge pump before or immediate after what halving will be done.At this moment it should be considered pure speculation and small pump before there not anything significant to justify this pump.It is good and should be more often to make new stable floors and base for next rise in coming weeks.

I never expected the price to go up this much. I was expecting these kind of pumps to happen in Juli as by that time we are very close to the block halving. At least it allows me to short some of the coins that I bought below $250 in 2015. :)

That is the right thing to do for now, hold our bitcoins and it will make the price higher and higher everyday,and when halving started going up at 700$ is possible after 3 months,,and before the year ends hopefully it will climbed up at 1500$

2013 was from $80 to $1200 within a Month, Now it could be quick ride to $2,000 within two weeks. ;D
I am happy. I managed to buy few last Bitcoins left under $500. Tomorrow people will be begging on knees if they could buy themn for $600.

Yes but as we know now that bubble run was highly manipulated by Mt.Gox!And bigh nightmare after that run was the almost 2 year long correction. Don't wanna see something like that ever again to be honest.Because this scares people and make them stay ouside.But to keep Bitcoin and the ecosystem growing we will need fresh money flushing in constantly.Therefore some slower, more healthy growth would be useful.
Don't get me wrong here.I'm not against nice bull runs like the one we are seeing now.But these crazy mega bubbles always have a pretty dark side.That's what I don't like.

Hopefully this is mere foreplay & we rise like a fucking rocket after the halving.

And now in just two days we see this run.The DAO crowdfunding ends today if I'm not wrong.Eth and that other new thing called Lisk is getting dumped.I expect a bit more FOMO for the next hours or maybe days which will bring more money streaming back into Bitcoin.

Unlike the last $500 saga last year where it just only sit for really a short time, reaching $500 today is different.

Pumps? No I see no intentional pumps here. If really it is a pump, we can push for at least $550.

What does it mean? Brace yourselves. Hopefully the dip won't down that much so we have another bottom in the making.

Very good movement for bitcoin. bitcoin has a great opportunity to become a real competitor strengths currencies such as the dollar. bitcoin has been in a position 500USD. and for the next month I predicted bitcoin stands at 600USD. bitcoin will become stronger and bigger.

Seeing the price rise to $475 yesterday was already surprising for someone like me who just started buying since last month. Looks like I didn't buy enough before it started to skyrocket. And now that it has reached $500, it seems that it is going to attempt another resistance.

As the halving comes closer, I'm sure bitcoin price will increase. But I don't expected it will increase this high in short period. This is a good sign for bitcoin.

I have been disconnected from the price for a bit more than a week, and that's an interesting surprise that I find here. Too bad that it won't change much for me...

All we need is for the price to continue rising and then stabilise out around the 600 dollar mark, Once stable at 600 we should slowly creep up pver many months to a new ath or at least close to the old one.

A drop is bound to happen along the way of price increase... If this is not a pump and dump, the price will rebound after all the profit seekers released their holding.

Yeah, I think that the price of the Bitcoin for early in tomorrow's $ 500 but the price will only go up in some time, and finally back to normal. Because the market is still very normal bitcoin and unlike previous years there where every hike is definitely the more transactions and resulting price bitcoin ride back

Yeah the price just touch $500 but still danger price get drop because we don't have big wall under $500 and look many people has sent their bitcoin to exchanger to sell their coins.

If it keeps rising like that we may even see 550+ before the halving. With the m-eth dumpers' support, we may even go higher. The only thing can stop that, is the people's greed. Everytime when a new high in price occurs, people will think "now is the time to get away before the bubble pops"... That's not good.

i think it's just a matter of days before we see the price fall back to $460-$470 as people are looking to secure profits at current prices.

i doubt that the price will start falling that easy, in my opinion the only way is going up at the moment and we will surely be able to make some good profit out of it

i think that during the halving we might even touch such heights as 800 dollars per bitcoin, this would surely attract some more people into bitcoin thus pushing the price even more

I think if price goes to $600 in next month, then we can surely achieve the price of $800 at halving, as everything is going fine now so we can expect positive outcome.

Of course it is a symptom of bitcoin's future growth. We can expect this type of more positive signals for bitcoin growth till upcoming halving. I did see many people are booking profits around these levels. I believe they are just wrong with their predictions on bitcoin prices.

Let's give it a few days, weeks even. But given the circumstances, the price have a higher chance of going down because I kind of see that many have started minor dumps although it's probably not going to affect the value that much.
I sure do hope so that the value stabilize at $500 now.

like a few months back, when it touched $500 with fast, then go back down quickly as well and in the end it is difficult to go back to $500 and finally right today we touched $500 but I hope there will be no decrease, because we will be close to halving , maybe it could help prices stabilize at $500 or higher increases

Well, all that we've finally arrived, now what price it will survive or not, but I feel that this would be even higher, maybe my expectations this time bitcoin prices steady above $ 500

For new users, they will be trying to set up an account and get money wired in, while existing traders and profit takers will have the weekend to themselves.  At the same time I would imagine that HODLers will be HODLers no matter what.

What that might imply is a mini drop over the earlier part of the week, then see price come back here before next weekend, so I wouldn't worry too much if we see $10-20 drop over the next couple of days.

Slowly the price started increasing the last period of time. They expect big price increase so this could lure more buyers. The last few days before the halving you will see more people interested buying last time cheaper Bitcoins.

Bitfinex BTC/USD reached 520$ briefly which I assume is the new year high? Bitfinex seems to be leading the race of this price rally, I wonder why that is.

I was about to write that I agree with you mate, but a new jump to $515 in few minutes start to seem a promising possibility towards an unexpected level. Will the price reach $600 when May ends?

It's funny, I'm pretty unemotional when it comes to bitcoin, but this little pump is making me smile.  We were jammed at 420-440 for the longest time and it didn't seem like we'd ever more.  Now I don't think the halving has anything to do with this, but it might be people speculating on what they think the halving should be doing.  So we'll see if this is sustainable.

I think the way China is pumping the price right now, they will most likely touch $600 if nothing changes. I only don't think it's enough to make exchanges outside China also touch $600 as the price difference right now is beyond insane! China is $50 higher than Bitfinex!!!

I understand you. It's been a long time of a low valued bitcoin and seeing it now at 518 means some justice if you ask me.

The whole pump may end as quickly as the last one, back in November.
Fundamentally nothing has changed since then. There is nothing to support a rally on a long term, other than halving hype and the usual price speculators.
Too little, imo, to go any further.

NEARING $530 ON PREEV

This is actually insane, and I wasn't expecting this at all. I am now incredibly hyped for the coming month, we might be seeing insane values very, very soon. Some people on this board have been doing their research, and it's paying off for them right now.

I expect the market cap to be over 10 billion by the halving. I also expect 9 billion within 7 days from now.

If you count Huobi they actually briefly touched $600 (3944 CNY = $600)

Yes I believe in here but I think less than 10 months is possible due to some bitcoin related major events that really has a nice breakthrough effect that can change the outcome of the whole.

It's the huge price increase that causes the huge dump most of the time. So , the faster it goes up the faster it goes down.
For those who say it's because of the halving , I say it's not. I can tell you that a big amount of people who use Bitcoin don't know what the halving is and even if they did , I don't get the fact that they all suddenly start buying.

Price is already above $500 now and that is a good sign before halving, and I don't see price fall now in next couple of weeks, price will keep on continuously rising.

Its above now and really there's no sign for this time for price fall down because many people intended to buy and hold for now rather than selling their coins because same as I their waiting for halving time happen and the effect of that we can see further more price increase daily and it is really exciting event for Bitcoin and many enthusiast will be happy for this and by this time it can attract and inspired new users globally and market will wider more because of its high price.

Honestly didn't expect to see +$500 soon but what I really hope is that the price keep this level or even more before the halving  :)

I don't think now there is anything to worry about the price of bitcoin, it has taken a positive direction now and we can expect much higher price at the time of halving.

bitcoin will definitely not drop back to 500 dollars in my opinion because there are a lot of people interested in it at the moment who are ready to buy all the time

Even if it falls back now then $500 will be bottom we cannot expect anything below it as it seems to be impossible now, price will keep on moving up in recent times.

You see now that the value of the Bitcoin is rising slowly now and that would be nice for the people with already Bitcoin but it will be really hard to know what will happen of course later.
But it would be nice if there will be more people that have just profit but they need some patience for it otherwise it will be not possible for them.

There has already been many over 25$ drops and even 50$ drop and they have not caused panic sell so why would drop from 580$ start panic sell?
And big investors who have enough to drop it more, I am quite sure they are not that stupid to go all in with their investments.

Yes bitcoin prices rise and fall naturally happened here, but it is not fair when prices dropped dramatically. I believe bitcoin will grow and prices will tend to rise here. Continue to collect bitcoin is a right way and then sell when the time is right.

Right there wont be. As long as the increase is just slowly and profitable then there would be no panic sell. I am mostly scared with a big wave up. Just imagining it. Many holder with low number of coins might sell.

maybe it could happen panic sell when approaching halving if the price is around $580-600, then after halving there is no increase. it was definitely the people will sell at the price $580-600. because of the early goal they hold for halving.

You don't know why people think halving will make prices go up do you?
Why would people sell right at when the halving happens when that is when the price actually starts going up...

Halving doesn't just magically rise the price instantly to ath, it just means there will 54000 less coins available every month and that means price will be going up because demand for coins is still the same as it was before the halving.

The price of bitcoin depends on us who uses bitcoin.. if we hold our bitcoins for a long time then the price would be great ,but if we dont cntrol ourselves and sell our btc just to have small ptofit,dont expect bitcoin to rise
