I've been looking at a thread about a guy who was looking to start his own bitcoin store and was looking for ideas on stuff to sell, one thing I could think of was meteorites, I don't think you can buy meteorites for bitcoin yet unless someone is already doing that, is someone already doing that?

What do you think, would it be a good idea to open this kind of store? would you buy meteorites for bitcoin?

Haha :D,that's a really interesting question,and for sure there aren't a lot of people doing that.My call is that you should at least try and see if there is a market for that.If there are people willing to buy,why not?It all comes to that after all.

I've seen people selling weirder stuff for bitcoin :). Personally, i wouldn't be interested, but if you can add a certificate of authenticity, and have reasonably good prices, i don't see why you wouldn't be able to sell them.

You can always try to open a sales thread on this forum, and open an openbazaar store... They're both free, so it might be a good starting point before investing anything in a domain/hosting/setup fees..
Do accept escrow on both stores, otherwise you won't have any customers

What are these meteorites you are saying? Is this a joke?
I never heard anything that someone is selling meteorites, meteotites that comes up above?

Yeah you can buy small fragments cheap enough, I was thinking of buying fragments in bulk and starting a bitcoin store to sell them :)

Weird idea but i think i like it i didn't even know that there is a market for that kind of stuff,so why not?owning a fragment of a meteorite sounds very cool.

I like the idea, space is a mystery and to own something that wasn't made on earth is quite special. You would certainly need certification as someone mentioned earlier and the more professional experience you have in the field, the better. It would be nice to maybe sort them by the continent they landed on (backed up by evidence!)

What? That's so funny. in my mind where you get meteorites, I never saw someone is selling meteorites. but, does it is a real meteorite? You can analyze on another online store with standard payment. How the level of demand in an online store.

well meteorites for bitcoin is really unique things and i am sure that nobody else had this idea to sell meteorites, that's even crazy so you will find buyers for sure, i would buy too

meteorites for bitcoins is very strange so because of that i am sure that people will really buy from you, so i think that it is pretty good idea, you can sell pedants and so with meteorites

Honestly, this will be extremely difficult for the few following reasons, however i admire your optimism and wish you the best if you go through with this
Meteor sales are quite low, and the correlation between people using bitcoins and buying is basically none, people buy them in real life to see authenticity, certificats and to avoid scams, the reasons go on, i dont think this would work, i'm sorry

It is not gonna work, and here is why:

1. People will keep asking how are you able to provide legit meteorites?
2. There is not standard price table when you can check out how much meteorite rock would cost - this would lead to exploits.
3. You could be selling normal earth rocks and most of people wouldn't know.
4. Is there even a service which can certify the rocks you are selling? I doubt that NASA or ESA is able to do it.

Lmao that is so very interesting , i also liked to collect a meteorites but i don't want to spend so much of my money for that because there's so many things that i need more than a meteorites maybe it would be a good oppurtunity to collect some of them but there is so many things that i needed to spend with my time and my budget . Maybe i can start collecting and buying some meteorites soon .

Everyone don't feel this to be valuable, at the same there are users who were more interested into those meteorites. For this one can start a store with bitcoin acceptance.

You may try, but definetely don't go for bitcoin only. The market for meteorites is small enough I think, without reducing it to the users of bitcoin.

I would advice to address companies and sell those meteorites as an art item, because the business to consumer market is not wealthy enough for these kind of purchase.s

Selling meteorites for bitcoins is a new idea and i have never heard of it before. I think such new ideas will bring more interest among the people to come to bitcoins and start using them.

wow such a good idea. I will do buying from your store. I personally want to open a store here in my area and do selling in bitcoin. I will accept bitcoin from the customers.

I think its a pretty good idea to sell such things but the other side is that not a lot of people are known for this.
It will most likely not attract a lot of people.

Come all over them, shoot them back into space and seed other planets of course.

yes it is a fact that people do not know about the bitcoin but i can tell you now people are entering in the world of bitcoin in a large number. it is also a fact that there are not so much shops who are accepting bitoicn or doing trading in bitcion.

it is such a good idea. the bitcoin popularity is increasing day by day now people are getting knowledge about bitocin. so it can be profitable in long run and it is expected that we can see so many other shops who will accept bitcoin in near future.

Opening a just a shop for bitcoin, will not help bitcoin expand. It's about supply and demand and my guess is there market for this kind of products is very small, you will have to do a helluva jog promoting it.

I think there are markets for this but I do not know if people that are using the bitcoin are also known for this and even if they know it.
Maybe you are opening a new door so I think you should do this, its most likely gonna be profitable.

Thats a unique one. i think you are really serious in selling meteorites and if you would ask me, i like the idea and never heard someone selling this before i was a business person too. if the consumers buy that you will get a big profit so goodluck.

This is defiantly true. If you introduce bitcoin in your business now you can attract a lot more customers and you can gain popularity too as not much stores accept Bitcoin these days.

But what about authenticity ?
who will be testing and certifying them? NASA ?

Although hella random, there is probably someone that would actually buy said meteorites. With that being said, it seems more like an Etsy or EBay listing than a dedicated storefront, that is I would be remiss to spend capital developing a webpage for this store. Better maybe to use an existing platform.

but i think a lot of people would do this,it seems cool to buy a meteorite for btc and have it  shipped into your own house ^^

If you are a collector of meteorites or some mysterious items, you will definitely buy them. But for me, Who Cares ? Im not a fan of this things, so definitely no.

You will have lots of customers in developed countries, they are more interested in things like that. But how will one know it's really a meteorite and not some rare rock type you picked up somewhere?

Rare meteorites you say ? Very interesting. How on earth do you find people to buy such a thing ? I doubt anyone is doing it for btc so much I feel confident is saying noone has done so yet. If I were interested in such a purchase yes I would use btc of coarse. :)
