Title: Two types of Bitcoiners, Which are you?
Post by: MbitSport on June 18, 2016, 03:18:54 PM
Type 1, "I cant wait for the price of Bitcoin to rise so I can buy a new Lamborghini with my Bitcoin."

Type 2
, "I cant wait for the price of Bitcoin to rise so I can sell my bitcoin and buy a new Lamborghini."

(Just want to clarify that the car isn't important in these two statements, but rather the Spend VS Sell)

1, "I cant wait for the price of Bitcoin to rise so I can buy a new Lamborghini with my Bitcoin."
because that's what I want. to decrease the price of BTC. I buy a lot for the rise in the prices to sell BTC will I return to the capital is more than I have,

I am this type of Bitcoiner  :D

I prefer to sell them rather then spending them, and I don't have many choices to spend it so I convert it to my local currency and then spend.

I'm hodling until I can spend them in the same way as fiat; I think a significant number of us are, and it puts significant bull pressure on the price, even if others don't manage to hold out for decades :D

Im type 1 for sure reason is very simple, more people that use btc for their purchases and trust it the more valuable it becomes. Many seem to forget that btc is a currency that you can use for buying thing, send or receive payments and see it more as an earning opportunity.

Yes, as of now 85% of voters are type1 and its a IMO proper way of a "true bitcoiner".
Who else is going to hold if not us? I think if we want to have this tech for a long time, we have to
treat it as long lasting endeavour. Thats how you build trust. I'm aware that there will always be
investors who prefer type2, for quick cash grab, no need to disrespect them but... ::)

as long as bitcoin is a limited currency that few people around the world only know it and use it, one will have to sell his btc to buy anything. bitcoin is always valued by its worth in exchages

Title: Re: Two types of Bitcoiners, Which are you?

You can only be type 1, unless you have already millions in BTC. Why? because if you have a decent amount (like 10 to 20) but not enough to be rich already, if you become rich in the future, it will mean that BTC is so high per coin that is a success and you can buy anything with it, so no need to sell it for dollars first.

LOL, i found this funny, i had a convo with someone not too long ago about holding, if the price were to reach 100k tomorrow or even 1 mill, there will still be loyal Hodlers.

in honesty i dont think bitcoin will ever replace fiat the two will always exist side by side, its the gateways that bridge the two that will need to change

i also believe Fiat isn't going anywhere anytime soon, at least not in our lifetime, i do believe however we will live to see both operating side by side, and at this point, i do believe there will be people that choose to use bitcoin exclusively

Im the type of guy that says " i cant wait for bitcoin to be worth millions so ill be a millionaire in bitcoin".  ;D

I dont necessarily spend my btc that often, i only keep around 10% of my btc for spending use.

Im the first type of those two, I really want to buy things with Bitcoin, applying the usability of  bitcoin in trades, alas my country have few store where i can spend my bitcoin.  So i am forced to belong to the number 2  category too, it's not by personal choice but by circumstance.  So  by personal choice, im  type 1 but due to circumstances, i am forced to belong to type 2 too.  So I can say, I am both by choice and circumstances.

i am mostly trying to be the first type and hold bitcoin to be able to use it in the future when the price is higher and it is accepted everywhere.

but until then i will sell some also to make some money.

I don't have alot. What I do have I wanna spend. And I don't wanna spend it with anyone who's converting it to dollars after. I reckon that's a good few years away yet but i'm willing to wait.

I'd only sell if i was hit with bills i couldn't meet otherwise. it's the last thing i wanna let go of.

Your right, spend and sell is basically the same now, as the Bitcoins spend on the car would be most likely instaneously converted to fiat with bitpay or similar service. Im really waiting for the whole commerce to transact in Bitcoin only and not convert to fiat anymore, but this could take very long.

I guess better would be if OP ask whether you holding Bitcoin in the hope to profit from price changes, to get rich from few Bitcoins, or because you see Bitcoin much better than fiat and you actually use it or just store wealth in holding it.

Definitely Type 1, i would like to spend some coins, but i rather just invest and earn more. I hate spending, but i would just spend BTC and not cash.

Title: Re: Two types of Bitcoiners, Which are you?

This probably sounds cliché, but I'm kind of both. I'm holding my Bitcoin in general, moreso to sell it later, but I wouldn't mind spending my Bitcoin on things I need either. It all depends on the time and what the item is, and I would be interested in doing either or.

Typically I like having something more liquid, so I would more than likely be holding to sell.

Same as me. Whenever I got enough satoshi to convert to my local currency I for sure will sell my satoshi. Feels regret sometimes especially when the price moving up significantly after I sold my satoshi. Thats happen couple times!

That problem will be always part of bitcoin as we never know what is best or high price to sell, but if you are satisfied with the price then you should sell your coins.

I have to disagree, you are right in saying that both buy the car, but if everyone that currently possess some bitcoin decided to sell, what happens to the value? i don't think this benefits bitcoin but rather defeats the purpose of it (i could be wrong)

But in the same case, if instead bitcoin was spent directly, i believe this benefits everyone.

I Hodl in hope that i can one day spend my bitcoin no differently than i spend my fiat.

True in the case of merchants that use services such as those provided by companies like BitPay, Maybe i should have worded the OP better, as my OP is meant to refer to a time in the future where Bitcoin has mooned, hopefully this is a time where merchants are happy to accept bitcoin payments without having it automatically converted to Fiat.

I'm the type 1 guy!
I want to pay in Bitcoin without any need for converting to fiat in the future.
I'm also thinking in bits instead of how much dollars or euros this is.
Give it a few more years and we will get there!!I'm pretty confident about that! :)

"Hold to sell" of course.

"Hold to spend" isn't a realistic choice. USD is the king of currencies and it will stay like that as long as USA lives. Btc is fine for what it is but waiting for it to win the currency war is just delusional. It is also too volatile, and volatility cuts both ways.

Selling or spending doesn't matter to me as long as I am getting what I am paying for with my Bitcoins. I am not such a big Bitcoin purist or fanatic to avoid selling Bitcoin or refrain from spending Bitcoin indirectly because I am not attached to virtual monetary systems nor paper-based ones and I am interested only in getting the things I want and not how I get them  ;)

I am the Bitcoiner saying, I cannot wait for the price to double my investment, so that I can pull out my initial investment and use that for something else and be invested in Bitcoin risk free. If you got

in at $1000, you will have to wait for that price and even a better price, to make a profit, but if you came in at $200 ... you would have tripled your investment and you could have withdrawn a third of

your investment, and not have ANY worries about losing any of your own money.  ;D ;D ;D ..... The Lambo has to wait for the $10 000/BTC.  ;)

Actually I don't like overconfidence. You can't assume that bitcoin will be worth thousands in the future.

There are no guarantees about it, and I prefer to store my coins and observe patiently the multiple things to come before that possibility.

Type 2
, "I cant wait for the price of Bitcoin to rise so I can sell my bitcoin and buy a new Lamborghini."

(Just want to clarify that the car isn't important in these two statements, but rather the Spend VS Sell)

If the first option is available and cheaper for item/service that i want then I would go with the first one because the second one has more stress more fees and takes more time until you buy that 'lamborgini' in this case. But if there isn't any other option rather than selling then i would go with the second one.

#1 is the way to go. When btc is worth big $$$, most (if not all) merchants will accept it, so no need to sell it for fiat.

lol we are just talking hypothetically, it doesn't have to be a car, the point is if the price of 1 bitcoin was to rise to $xxxk some time in the future, do you spend or sell your bitcoin at that point.

Type 2.

In my country, none of the retailers accept BTC. If I want to buy a vehicle or a house, then I must make the payment in fiat cash. So I am holding my coins for now, but when the time comes, I will convert them to fiat or gold. I am still hopeful that the situation may change in the near future. May be in 2020, I will be able to pay my home loan with BTC.  ;D

...

neither and both.
i am holding bitcoin and i will sell some of it if the price goes high to a price that i find favorable just to make some profit out of it but in the end i am just waiting for the real deal, when bitcoin is mass adopted and i can use bitcoin to buy stuff directly

I am the type of "I cant wait for the price of Bitcoin to rise so I can buy a new Lamborghini with my Bitcoin."

I prefer to enjoy bitcoin being accepted in global where i can spend it all the way i want, and every shop accepted bitcoin rather than i need to calculate it to fiat

I'm kind of both. Half I can't wait, half I gotta sell.

My second half depends on whether fiat is still the standard and if it still has value.

I prefer to sell them rather then spending them, and I don't have many choices to spend it so I convert it to my local currency and then spend.
If you could find what you want to buy on a online site or via a service like purse.io then you would be saving money spending your bitcoins.
To cash them out there is always some sort of fees involved and often you will find that if you can pay in bitcoin you will get a nice little discount.

Selling and getting some profit and reinvesting is a better way to grow our coins more, so that money might get used to shop in fiat.

I don't have why would people bitcoin sell their bitcoin and buy something if they can use bitcoin directly to buy what they need, i mean it's faster and you can avoid fees and things such as identity confirmation when you sell/buy biycoin.

I don't really get it either, i mean i can kind of understand if were talking about todays bitcoin, as in right now at its current price and level of adoption, but i don't understand that if the price were to really moon, and i do mean reeally moon, and merchant adoption is more common place, why sell? or why plan to sell, i thought the bitcoin goal was value increase + mainstream adoption (even if its mainly online), not just price increase.

if i had 1 BTC, and 1 BTC was to rise to a value of $200k, i would feel more confident keeping my 200k in bitcoin.

Am i just naïve and overly optimistic? or does Bitcoin have real promise? I must say, i have high hopes for bitcoin, not just the price of bitcoin, but the application of bitcoin.

Instead number 1 quotes that we can buy lambourgini directly using bitcoin as your mode of exchange to get the item. The problem with statement number 1 is that we potentially could never see this in action. While option 2 is very much possible now.
I don't have the luxury of keeping all my bitcoins stashed - and wait for mass adoption. I need to exchange portion of my BTC regularly to sustain my living expenses.

Since I treat bitcoin mainly as another form of investment, I would fall under the category those who HODL and SELL. But basically I just hold and hold, most of it anyway, because I still spend some from time to time. Maybe when the price reaches $1000, I'd sell a lot but still keep some for longer holding.

I`m using btc in every possible way, but I don`t think I have enough to hold to buy some fancy car one day. For that I need more coins for sure. But if I need to choose from these two options I would choose " holding until I can buy "things" one day ".

How many coins I need to have now to buy new Lamborghini? Then in how many years I can expect btc to rise enough so i can buy Lamborghini one day with couple BTC, lets say 3?
I`m also for using btc in everyday payments, but many of us will never have for that car! So its like trick question!

Something is really annoying about both kinds of Bitcoiners.

A lot of them only focus on price.

Not necessarily in the case of Type 1, (remember the car is not important), Me personally, the only reason the price should be important is because the higher the price, (imo) the more likely more people and businesses will take notice and hopefully start adopting it, because i am holding until i am able to directly spend my bitcoin and i have no intention to sell them, the price is irrelevant to me gains wise, although it is fun to see your bitcoin value grow, even if the price rose to 10k tomorrow, it would be exciting, but i wouldn't sell.

I also believe in the long term, alot of the people that select Type 2 (a lot of the long term hodlers), will in fact become type 1 Bitcoiners.

I know that most likely this won't happen in the next 5 years.

I'm clearly type I, although I don't think I would ever buy a Lamborghini, because I'm not interested in luxury cars at all.

For me it's pretty clear that exchanging Bitcoin to fiat money makes no sense, because fiat is an inferior type of money that is subject to centralized control and inflationary devaluation. If I wanted to buy something with fiat I could do this right now. But why should I acquire Bitcoin first?

I'm not buying Bitcoin for speculative reasons. I buy Bitcoin, because I think it is sound money that is worth to be supported and which should see widespread usage in the future. Therefore I will only do native Bitcoin purchases (without fiat conversion).

ya.ya.yo!

I'm hodling until I can spend them in the same way as fiat; I think a significant number of us are, and it puts significant bull pressure on the price, even if others don't manage to hold out for decades :D

Sadly, the ratios are now only 67/33% :P

We do need those Type 2 folks to provide liquidity, however; it's just that they'll be providing liquidity to an ever diminishing supply of bitcoin, driving up price. I think trust comes from the system actually functioning to process transactions, in a reasonable timescale, with reasonably small fees. If this continues for a few years we'll see exponential adoption. What happens to the price after that is of no relevance; it's making the system into a functioning "cash" that has always been the goal.

I must add I am a Type 1 with the proviso that much of that is stored on casino bankrolls, which I believe exert significant deflationary pressure on bitcoin, because they enforce the loss of bitcoin to the investors, who are unlikely to sell them, creating a one-way sink for bitcoins. But bitcoins are also hodled in the Type 1 sense by entrepreneurs/Satoshi/forward-thinking financial types who do seek a Gold 2.0; in short, a panoply of people all come together to lend the currency value, and put pressure on its price (halving coming up, too).

Buying LAMBO is a good idea without having to exchange your bitcoin to a fiat currency. But I really don't want to use bitcoin to buy my daily groceries or mobile recharge. It will definitely increase the acceptability of bitcoin but on the other hand it will loose its value of being an elite currency.

I want bitcoin to remain as an alternative investment route.

do i have to be only one type of bitcoiner?

because i prefer to be both of them, hold bitcoin to spend it someday buy until that day come which can be a couple of years i hold bitcoin to sell if there is a bubble and i can gain some profit to buy back more bitcoin at the bottom.

In fact I have my own strategy for Bitcoin.
Part of my own BTC funds I invest in my other business opportunities and rest of funds I keep in my wallet.
What I will do with this funds?
Still didn't decide, it depend on many facts, from my personal life, status of Bitcoin in the future etc.

Actually I don't belong to none of these twow. I don't have much Bitcoins but I'm not selling them. If I want to buy something I use directly Bitcoins without selling them.

For me it is  "I cant wait for the price of Bitcoin to rise so I can sell my bitcoin and buy a new Lamborghini.".  I always need money and i dont have money/ bitcoin to save and gain profit from increasing prices of bitcoin.

So you actually are, technically, Hold to Spend because you said you would use your bitcoins directly rather than convert it first to cash then spend it.

I'm the same with you. I hold my bitcoins and wait for the value to go up and then spend them. Usually though I spend them in Steam for games.

This is very harsh split of users and maybe too simple. I think I'm kind of the both. I'm waiting for price to go up so I can spend the coins, but not all and not for lamborghini (I prefer some other type of cars). But I also think that is not good to spend just everything you have. But I'm expecting for price to go up in the future.

I go for the first type of bitcoiner .

I don't want to sell any amount of bitcoins unless its emergency needed i used to spend all my funds in my wallet scattered in different investment i jist leave small amount for emerency use and what i've earned and withdraw goes to stake my wallet until i have found again any good investments. In the future when bitcoin price is too high i would sell .  8)

Actually it is hard for a common person who is small leveled investor to just keep holding. Everyone tries to increase his holdings so you can consider me of both types of Bitcoiner as well. I am permanently holding whenever need sell or spend them for different purposes and when my financial condition allows me buy back at some decent price.

I actually am both, to be honest. I hold and wait for the price to increase just so I can have more value for my coins when I buy things. Also, I try to buy bitcoin to sell it later on a higher price, which I successfully did last July. It was a fun experience buying steam games and in-game credits and at the same time selling it for profit.

I usually save and exchange it to fiats and use them for my expenses. I love to exchange only when the price goes high. i dont have enough money to buy a car now in my BTC wallets, so i can not adhere to the points mentioned in the first post. The price is going up, so it is really good to save and wait for profit when the price goes high.

Yes, it's true. Hard to find someone accepting BTC as payment method for a Lamborghini. I would sell my BTCs to buy one (if I want it). But there is most important things to buy first... Luxuous cars are for richs.  :)

Ideally, I'd be perfectly content with selling my Bitcoin for fiat, and then proceeding to purchase said Lamborghini Centenario.

The technology behind Bitcoin is indeed very nuanced and sophisticated, and I think the currency has the potential to reach a market cap comparable to Visa. On the other hand, though, and although I have a background in the physical sciences, I am more of a "back to the basics" kind-of-person. I prefer tangible assets -- such as cash and gold -- and see more value in traditional businesses that produce consumer stables (e.g., Campbell's Soup Company or P&G), over tech companies of the ilk of Google, Apple or Microsoft.

Corrupt as world governments may be, cash is still king when it comes to everyday transactions.

We have the same thinking. I need money right now to pay for loans, bills and other mortages. Even if I have to choose number 1 that would be impossible for the moment. First things first as the saying goes, need to convert btc to cash instantly so Ill be avoiding monthly headaches. But maybe someday when these payments are already paid and Im out of financial obligations I will choose number 1.

I don't care if I have to sell or I can buy directly with Bitcoin (though obviously it would be easier and nicer to buy directly with Bitcoin) as long as my Bitcoin (or Bitcoins + altcoins) would be enough to buy a Lamborgini.

I'm holding my bitcoins, just I still didn't decide will I sell them or spend them. That decision will need to wait for a while. I will keep them until I have more bitcoins.
Both types are similar, sell it or spend it is almost the same thing. In both ways I will stay without coins and get something nice in return.

I never hold all of my earned bitcoins fully only 20% of it i am holding it, balance i do sports betting , play poker games and 50% i convert it to fiat currency to meet my daily life expenses. As i am not able to use bitcoin in shop or online in my country i have to convert it to fiat currency to fulfill my needs.

In the future, we will be all in Type 1. People are just not accepting bitcoins right now because they don't know about it yet. Eventually, someone will introduce bitcoin to them. There's a lot of advantages that we can get when we accept bitcoin as payment. But for now, the majority of us will be in the Type 2. We have to convert our bitcoins into fiat first before we can buy something.

I'm the one that is going to hold my bitcoin and spend it when it's price would go skyrocket again. I guess the second one is a little bit of waste of time because in order to sell your bitcoin you have to find people or advertise it that you are selling bitcoin, and there is a possibility that in that time that you are going to spend in selling your bitcoin, the bitcoin's price is going to change again, you are lucky if it goes up more but your not lucky if it goes down and I think you will going to regret it for the rest of your life.

I am both at the same time because sometimes I trade with my coins but I think that in future I'll become that type of bitcoiner which will hold bitcoins because I think that when full amount of bitcoins will be mined, than the price of bitcoin will become higher, much higher than it was ever. So I think that I'll hold my bitcoins soon and I'll wait years for great profit.

I think, you should add "type 3: whatever is possible I.e., spend or sell". Because we cannot spend Bitcoin directly everywhere. I'm type 1 but still I voted for type 2 because if the above mentioned reason! Hope it'll be changed in near future.

That is true, and like others, i have also selected Type 2, as you mentioned that right now we are not able to buy much things with bitcoins as it is just accepted in limited places so if we want to buy something we first need to sell them and get fiat and then buy the things we want.

I am of type 2 as I hold just to sell for better price and then buy back when price dip after short time. Bitcoin's price like every other market can not be flat or fixed there will always be ups and downs. You can easily make nice profits for waiting as holder without getting emotional.

You are the right guy. I am also going for the type 2 and I wish bitcoin price may hit $1000+ just like you are anticipating. To make the most out of bitcoin one needs to buy and hold for some in order to make profit in long term basis but buying and spending does not help at all.

Type 2

(Just want to clarify that the car isn't important in these two statements, but rather the Spend VS Sell)

Thus, in the 1st case you buy the car with BTC, while in the second you first convert BTC to fiat currency (paying the fees) and then buy the car with the fiat money.

The 2nd behaviour is quite stupid, actually  ;D

If we can use our bitcoins directly to buy a car then there is no point in selling them and converting to fiat as it will involve higher conversion fees, so its better to buy a car by paying in bitcoins and get rid of conversion fees.

I just add it in my portfolio and I buy the same amount of bitcoin I sold after dump using the fiat I have after selling and im withdrawing the earnings for that current price pump rise or if it only risen a little and dumped Im gonna use all the fiat I have from selling my bitcoin to buy bitcoin again.

Most of Bitcoin users will be type 1 because you can direcly buy a car using Bitcoin and no need to exchange it to fiat and then buy.

It is correct because why one wants to waste money in the conversion process to anything instead of spending bitcoins directly to buy an item. As of now lot of exchanges are making a good money because people can't use bitcoins for any services directly, so they end up converting them to fiat first. Once many businesses start accepting bitcoins, then these exchange sites will slowly disappear from the market.

So far Bitcoin is my only online income source and is my only way to spend purchase things online. I've purchased a lot of things including but not limited to digital games to budget Samsung tablet. Most users have quoted that they wish to make a purchase directly than converting to fiat and going for a purchase. Right now only grown countries have got the type 1 access, so possibly we third world country users need to wait for years to get such access as direct bitcoin acceptance is very low compared to grown countries.

Selling bitcoins is obviously spending them as well but i guess OP means buying things directly with bitcoins by spending here, as in that sense they would be different because selling bitcoins would mean exchanging them while spending bitcoin would mean buying things with bitcoins.

I don't think there is a difference between the OP choices in terms of using bitcoin.  They are both categorized as spending them.  But one thing is for sure.  On the latter choice, you choose to pay the third party processor a processing fee by converting your bitcoin to fiat money.  But well, we all need the money because at this point of Bitcoin there are too few stores to spend bitcoin especially when it comes to buying our basic needs.

I don't really know if I fit into either of those specific categories to be honest, I've spent my Bitcoin after waiting for the value to go up and I've exchanged my Bitcoin after waiting for the value to go up. It all depends on your goals I guess. Not a whole lot of explanation otherwise for anyone who fits in between those categories or whatever.

Basically both but since majority of the Bitcoins is what I Hold to spend, I have given my vote for it in the poll. I like holding Bitcoins for a long time and have been doing so mostly to see if I can find something to spend it on. This also helps the Bitcoin economy and the price if you spend Bitcoins rather than sell them. Always remember if you spend Bitcoins you're circulating it in the Bitcoin ecospace and thus creating more push for the price since its value increases.

For now, I'm type 2, because the possibilities for me to spend my bitcoins in the areas I'm interested in are quite rare.
I think you're not alone here mate, there are many people doing the same thing like you, I think this is not the fault of us. if bitcoin is more accepted in many merchants and we have the convenience of spending bitcoin, of course we will use bitcoin, but the situation is different?

I think I'm the first type. I've bought some gadgets and I also purchased other types of currencies or balance in various companies/websites. I can't say that I'm the second type even though I would likely become one because I haven't sold any bitcoins into fiat yet. I just use bitcoin as payment since most of my transactions are conducted online anyway.

Also, Type 2 leaves a more significant paper trail than Type 1.  There may be more advantages to the Type 1 transaction category for those who prefer "off-grid" banking options.  It's those type of personalities which are attracted to bitcoin....those "dark money" type of individuals that can meet out more advantageous positions by going "dark."

I think the problems facing users today is that we have trouble in spending bitcoin and very rare merchants who accept bitcoin. I do not know why this is still happening. probably due to slower adoption so that merchants do not see a lot of interest from bitcoin users and make them reluctant to accept bitcoin

I'm a hold to sell in terms of bitcoin. I don't want to buy a thing when bitcoin is as its lowest rate. I'll wait til the bitcoin price is at its peak then that's the time that I will sell it. You can have extra money if you wait.

I think both of the two because I hold bitcoin to spend in trading , mining and investing to grow my bitcoin fastly and safely .
I hold also bitcoin to sell I'm waiting bitcoin price become high and I sell it my bitcoin to make profit and wait again to dump the price to buy like a cycle .

I don't see any differences as you at the end result , as both needs to sell their Bitcoin for a Lamborghini. Or are you trying to refer directly spending bitcoin to buy a Lambo? If that is the case it is still the same but Type 2 is the plausible among the both of them. And oh  yeah I am neither of the 2 as I am not a spender, I am an investor.

i think i will hold it until i see the price is stable and i don't want to get rush to sell all my bitcoin. i don't want to feel regret when i sell for now and after next one hours the price going to go up than now.

for spend to buy altcoin, i think i am not yet buy altcoin first because i've made mistake analyze, and now i am stuck in high price for altcoin. i see that almost all altcoin is going to down, its make me sad but never mind, i am sure the price of altcoin will be up follow with price of bitcoin.

I prefer to sell them rather then spending them, and I don't have many choices to spend it so I convert it to my local currency and then spend.

We have the same page dude!, for sure most of the member here too will choose to sell their bitcoins compare spending them. and that's the only thing we can to convert it into cash as practicality.

I don't have much enough money to make investment with bitcoin. I always prefer little spending on bitcoin. So that I use to buy some goods for bitcoin and do trading with that.

the fact that people still confusing about how to use bitcoin and where to spend bitcoin on something that people usually bought used cash. bitcoin merchants are still limited to a low number offline stores around the world and still growing online (and it was a slow growth).

maybe i am a both type 1 and type 2 of bitcoiner , because i don't see any difference between the two choices it would be the same situation that you are going to sell your bitcoin just to buy a lamborghini . you are only going to end up selling bitcoin so you are able to buy something .

So, how will you spend your coins? would it be directly as it is or you're going to sell it to fiat so you could treat your family? I think OP is talking about how you will spend your coins...  :) But anyway, as I've said before, I still have no choice since I can't spend it as it is, no place yet to use it so I need to cash it out to fiat except if I am going to buy digital goods...  :)

yeah man that's true , we have the same situation i still need to convert it to fiat and then cash it out in order to spend it or buy some stuff because there are no place to spend it as bitcoin there are still no shop and restos' that are accepting bitcoin as medium of transaction . we can only buy some digital good with bitcoin as of now .

Merchants do care for their products to be sold but does not want to take the risk of the price fluctuations of bitcoin. If I were the merchant I would not also do it risking my sales for the day and just bear with the loses every time the price falls back. What is important is the liquidity and we cannot be liquid when we are risking.

What if the price of bitcoin plummates, so his dream of a Lambo is buried. If I were to choose between the two, I think im like the type 2 bitcoiner. I prefer selling my bitcoin and converting it to fiat before buying some items I want to buy since I just don't trust the online shops that accepts bitcoin yet. Sometimes though I use bitcoin to buy items in the internet but it only happens once in a month or maybe three. That purchases I made in the internet also are for buying in game items in some games I play not physical items.

I guess my first instinct was to think of it as an investment and when the value goes up, sell it. However, that's poisonous thinking for our community because for BTC to really have a life, we need to be using it. Buy things, sell things... use it.
