Was thinking of designing a limited run 50-100 coins 2oz silver or 1 oz gold commemorative physical Bitcoin with 5-10% of the funds being donated to the Forum ( this is our second home ya know)

Should we do pre funded coins or should the new owners of the coin self fund?

Silver or gold?

Suitable price points ?

Thickness desired?

Double side designs or single sided?

Any other input let us know! Thanks!

Go with silver. It'll be a lot easier to sell. Once you make a name for yourself maybe try getting preorders for gold. If you make it a funded coin, you will also have to be careful about money transfer laws in the US

That's not the only problem.
Given the fact that the seller is new/has no reputation at all, I would have a hard time trusting them with private keys,
you might find it harder to get all you coins sold if you opt for the pre-funded version (depending on how big the face value of the coin is however).

So then DIY coin will be a very nice choice for the first time seller. Or maybe small denomination coins like 0.01BTC Loaded.

We we're looking into the money transfer laws & have decided that the coins would not be funded ( we are still thinking about DIY coin)

We have been around for years on here with multiple deals done ( from digital items to miners ) although most people have never left us feedback , so we would hope there aren't any trust issues either way we can always set up an escrow  :)

What do you guys think about brass coins or Silver plated copper coins?

Should we show designs early ? or surprise all when the coins are made ?

I think Lutpin means that how do we know you will not save the private keys to redeem later, like the coinographic incident recently. Many people have started to notice their LTC coins have been emptied.

I think it is a lot better to use precious metals. There are a lot of non noble metal coins around, people seem to be getting bored of those.
You saw that already few members expressed interest in pure silver medal.
Also if you want to do something new maybe giving a bitcointalk usernames on coins reverse, would be a good idea? Want to do homage to bitcointalk.org mint a coin with its name on it :)
