As you may have noticed, there is a quite big problem, only 10 coins are going to be made and 25 people want to buy them. So we think that the best solution is to auction them all, limiting to one per customer. (If you are in the list we will PM you once auctions are live)

With gold price rising quite significantly lately, I'd suggest 0.5oz, as this is going to be a costly coin on top of the Funded amount.

As for the design, I'll leave that to the professionals ;D

I am interested dependent on design/pricing.  But, I need to know est. pricing for both.  But, I think I prefer 1/2 oz if pricing will be like previous gold DOGE coin. 

Also keep in mind that gold is twice as dense as silver.  I don't see any diameter listed for the coins...  With a 1/2oz gold coin, you'd be looking at a very small coin with a very small hologram and a tiny private key.

EDIT:  I see your previous 1/2oz gold coin is 30mm.  Any pictures of the side of it to see the thickness?

OK, so it is roughly as thick as an American nickel.  Great to see another gold option.

Customs fees for gold are huge especially in the UK...
And are you going to insure the delivery which will make it evident to customs how much they should tax?

So half oz is best for me but I rather you use another metal.

Custom fees and VAT will be zero when importing from one EU country to another.

Obviously that could change when UK exit EU, but there is at least 2 years until that, and hopefully will this coin be shipped much sooner.

The previous 1/2oz coin didn't sacrifice diameter.  30mm is a typical 1oz gold round size.  Even the 1oz gold Casascius Coin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=54845.0) was 30mm.  That is why I asked about the thickness, which is where the reduction in weight comes from.

Why auctioning them? Looks like demand is bigger than supply, and we won't make more than 10. So we think is the most fair way of selling the coins.

The doge one sold for $1.35k... I'm going to guess with 10-100k dive, so the btc one should very well be well over two thousand, maybe even $2.5 or $3 thousand.

If you're only doing 10, 1oz. If you have flexibility with the run, I'd do 1/2oz and make more.

Problem is, As I work on call, I have missed two auctions so far ^^

I only managed to get some halving coins as there was a buy price.

I understand your need to auction, but please think of people in my situation, I would love a price I could just decide to buy or not.

The attempts so far to make a high value collectible raffle has not been successful.
When the stakes get too high, the tickets simply don't sell.

It seems like the demand is there for 21 coins.  I imagine all the production costs could be spread out more if 21 coins were to absorb the cost vs 10 coins. 

I tend to agree maybe more than 10 coins could make it a little cheaper for all.

I would imagine CI would need to get firm commitments to buy before doing a larger run. Even then its a bigger outlay getting that much gold, on a bigger run. Any going unsold after minting is a lot of tied up BTC

I expect we need to see individual coin pricing based on mintage numbers, if indeed there is any flexibility on the numbers. Then formalise a commitment in some way to protect CI

When CI adds my name and LazerViking's name to the list, the interest level is now in the mid 20's.  I'd imagine CI could sell at lease 20 of these coins...but it's not my cash...and I'd imagine it might mess with the vision of keeping it limited to 10.

Our initial idea was to mint 10 coins, the same number as with the gold doge...

We feel that demand is great because its a really rare coin, so far 25 people have registered interest in buying one.

Although we would like to satisfy the demand and mint more then 10, our profit would even be higher but...
the decision is firm and there will only be ten gold BTC coins.

I would actually be less interested if the number was increased. The number 21 isn't anything special either, it's rather trivial. Luckily, this isn't going to happen. I think sticking to the original plan is much better.

I like the 1 x 10 coin auction format... I think you are the only one pulling off this format successful in newer time.
From a business point of view is it hard to say if 10 x 1 coin or 1 x 10 coin is better, since auctions is a lot about spontaneity and emotions.
The multiple coin auctions creates a special atmosphere.

It will be a memorable auction, but we wil have to wait a bit until first coin comes from the mint; unless you want to bid before seeing the finished product   ??? ??? ???

I have a feeling the bidding will be open to everyone (at the OP discretion) so the list you see is merely for how many coins should be made and gauge interest.

Coins are still in production, sadly they are taking longer than expected. But we are confident that the wait will be worth it, they are being manufactured here in Spain so quality is assured!

We've had some problems with the hologram too, having to re-design a part of it, but we will release a teaser once its finished!

To sum up, we all have to wait a bit more for the epic auction that is coming...

I'm certain you'll have no trouble selling this. What's going to be the base price for these, and, I see they are marked "1BTC". These have to be funded with 1BTC in accordance to your earlier releases, right?

I agree.  That lion design is pretty cool.  I like how the heart (nose) and BTC stand out.  I wish it wasn't branded on the back and I wish it could be purchased unfunded, but this is one of my favorite front designs I've seen on a physical coin here.

I'm not going to derail this thread by explaining everything, but if you check the references for the trust (which was left a month ago), you will see it is justified. I am more than happy to revise my feedback should CI explain what happened to everyone's satisfaction, instead of creating a thread admitting being able to control the account in question (cyclops) which made bids in nearly every CI auction ever, and then promptly locking said thread and allowing no discussion to take place. This was shady behaviour at best. I am willing to discuss this more in private, but I will not be responding on this thread again.

I did check and it does not look justified to me.  I see crying about people paying less and a bunch of unfounded accusations about CI.  It also appears based on your reply here that you are trying to extort information since you said you would remove it for an explanation.  I wouldn't respond to that either.  Unless there is proof, you should not be fucking up his trust.  Obviously this is just my opinion.

It wasn't a conspiracy.  There was absolutely more than enough evidence to prove that CI was bidding up his own auctions using his alt account.  Evidence included, CI admitting to have access to that account, handwriting comparing items received from both users, shady locking of his "explanation thread".   There were countless points of evidence suggesting guilt.

Schedule Update:

Currently the coins are on transit to their destination, they will be received tomorrow.

(If everything goes well) They will be assembled on Saturday and auction posted on Sunday.

The auction will run for about 10 days, to make sure that they will be shipped on time for christmas and that everyone has a chance to bid.

CI what does the  “Antique Design” means? is that unpolished? The coins in the pictures looks pretty shiny to me (I like shiny things).
If possible, can you then make a close up of the coin that shows the finish?

Lower mintage makes the coin a better coin for collectors.
Honestly I really like low mintage coins, I am going to put my eye on those auctions for sure.
Do you already have an idea when the first auction is going to come out and are you going to list all the auctions on the same day?

It is "Antique design" not finish, the coin is shiny! The block halving design is considered, by us at least, to be "modern" this is more traditional.

Edit: Forgot to mention that starting bid will likely be 1 BTC, but there will be a reserve price that will cover only the coin minting/design... costs.

You are auctioning all 10 coins in a single auction with a single possible winner?

I believe it will be like his previous auctions, where you bid on a specific coin serial.
All 10 in one lot would just be madness :D

It won't be all 10 in one lot. All 10 will be in the same auction but as TookDk states you will bid on singular coins in this auction.

CI has specified that one buyer can only hold one coin. So no worries, there will be 10 different winners at the end :D

I'm not a fan of these single auctions for multiple coins.  They always seem to come when I have no money and often without warning so I have no time to save up to participate.  If this was announced months ahead or auctioned one at a time, I would have time to get in on some of the auctions.  Doing this during the Holidays when I am already strapped guarantees I won't be able to participate.  :(

Also, CI wanted to make sure to deliver before christmas or end of year. And if he does not want to do 10 threads with 10 different auctions (I honestly don't see the problem with one thread) there's no way to reach those goals.

I was generalizing about these types of auctions.  I was aware of this months ago, but I wasn't aware the coins would be auctioned off at the same time so I didn't plan accordingly.  My fault for assuming.

Is the numbering going to be on the holo?

These types of Auction is fun since not alot of people compete at high price but this is Pure Gold, i wonder if i would be able to grab any :D
