Hilary Clintons pledge is just a political strategy to attract more voters and for her to win the next election. But this is a good news to bitcoin industry, government backing up bitcoins will increase bitcoins stability in the market. I foresee an increase in bitcoins price if Clinton will win the presidency and I hope she will win so it will benefit us bitcoin users.

Such a News from a presidential candidate of a grown nation is really a important news for most users and countries that have been opposing bitcoin and other digital currencies. Possibly if the statement is true it helps high in bitcoin's further growth.

Do you have a grudge towards Hilary CLinton that you are giving some reasons that you think but not really hers. But well said that her support to bitcoin may uplift the bitcoin economy. Bitcoins may become more famous in the world and may give influence to companies. Possibley this may lead to increase of bitcoin users and may lead of course to our favorite an increase in bitcoins price.

I bet that she said it just for the sake of elections :P

Most of politicians will lie when it's near the election so they can grab a few more votes by saying "I am supporting this"
The question is : How many Bitcoin user that believed that she really supports the blockchain ;D

Opinions :)

What a politician says during election season is worth - well, a lot less than 1 satoshi.

I'd feel better if she raged against it. At least then I'd have a better idea of how things _really_ stood. But think of this: if and insofar as bitcoin challenges traditional banking, do you really believe the institutional bankers that have so richly lined her pockets over the years will not attempt to influence her? Whereas on the bitcoin side the lobbyist roster is quite a bit thinner.

She didn't say she support bitcoin.

Not sure if she understands what blockchain really means, but I think she was just expressing her support for the development of new technologies, which include blockchain technology.

The announced pledge to support the blockchain technology is a great boost for the cryptocurrency sector.  Not only Bitcoin will gain more popularity on this and so the other currency too.  Even if the said declaration is one of the platform / agenda of Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton.  It will still bring positive impact to Bitcoin.

Apparently the business sector isn't interested in Bitcoin as a digital currency system and what it could bring to the table as a payment solution but they are more interested in the Blockchain technology itself and let me quote Hillary here because she has said it perfectly herself: 'public service blockchain applications'. I think these are the keywords right here for any future developments in the Bitcoin technology space - public service blockchain applications. I think the Bitcoin mining business is in decline and the Bitcoin technology will steal the show very soon with what it could offer to all the different industries.

Even if she is saying this for political reasons, it's very positive news. Many times we hear negative press about bitcoin or blockchain so we have to look at this as a step in the right direction.

The blockchain technology you can expect from them, would be something that would track each and every transaction on this planet, as part of a complete surveillance solution. I have seen some suggestions that it could also be used to transmit secret encrypted messages, hidden between 1000's of other transactions. ^hmmmmm^

Political strategy to woo voters from crypto people or not, for me its a welcome news if its true. If she really does support, it could translate to bitcoin growth. Growth in usage and popularity which will translate to growth in demand, and finally a higher price or bitcoin value. :)

Hillary doesn't even understand what she is talking about. It's her advisers that told her, that talking positively about this "blockchain" thingy will get her cheers from her most important supporters: the banks.

So what Hillary supports is not a free decentralized blockchain like we have with Bitcoin. It is a centralized, banker and state controlled blockchain, perfectly aligned with her vision of an omnipresent nanny state.

Bitcoin does not need support from any politician. Bitcoin is innovation that doesn't ask for permission. It doesn't care, what these muppets pledge for. After all, what kind of support can governmental actors give Bitcoin? Contributing all the debt they've accumulated? No thanks!

ya.ya.yo!

It's not really a choice anymore. The banks, the governments, Wall Streeters... They don't have a choice in my decision to use BTC. Now that it is clear that nobody is going to be able to stop bitcoin, of course they are showing support. The war is over and we won.

Smart move, nerds are typically not very interested in politics, by expressing her support for the blockchain tech she will have converted a few neutral/undecided tech lovers to her cause. I very much doubt her statement implies her support for Bitcoin though. But it's a step in the right direction :)

This is a great news. Bitcoin is almost the very first (and the only one, at the moment) practical application of blockchain. Supporting blockchain is directly promoting bitcoin.

Do she has a bitcoin donation address? She should create one to show that she is accepting the bitcoin community.

Even if this is just for getting votes, it seems fine, because at least this way someone serious would support btc.
However, I think there will be people who will say it's a bad thing, because the government just wants to take btc under control, deal with the tax problem and so on

Very true. Hilary has yet to show the slightest support towards BTC or cryptocurrencies. She only said she supported blockchains, and that means databases spread around many computers all over the world. The US government could probably use a blockchain for its Medicare program. Or in the Army.

Meh. I'll see it when I believe it, I too think this is just a ploy to get (nerds?technophiles?anarchist?) more voters on board in the fight against Voldemort (Trump). Blockchain technology should REALLY take a back seat in the mind of any potential presidential candidate; there is entirely too much shit going on in the world right now to fix. People are getting shot and blown up here and abroad essentially because of cultural differences. Be that skin color, or religious beliefs. Financial transparency is great, but you know, well, there are dead people.

For all of you unfamiliar w/ this woman, she used the Secratary of State's position to bend policy towards foreign governments in return for payments to her Clinton Foundation to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. The politicized FBI director even had to say how "extremely careless" she and her staff were in handling classified information via her private email server which wasn't even allowed. In essence, under normal circumstances she would be convicted of bribery and treason and euthanized for it as an example to the rest of the political class.

Furthermore, her 'husband' Bill Clinton did similar things as a former president when allowing export waivers via the Commerce department to authorize shipment of encrypted missile technology to the Chinese in return for illegal campaign contributions as well as donations to his legal defense fund to help shield him from the dozens of sexual assault claims that Hillary enabled.

This news is merely a hat tip to silicon valley and her banker donors and not a wonderful boon to any of us here. Do you think she's pumped about an up and coming nouveau riche class of libertarians on the world scene? The Clintons and their minions operate as crime family of the highest order and their people in the Justice Dept and the media have allowed them to get away w/ the highest national crimes for over 20 years.

Lastly, she's a world class liar.

It's hard to tell if she is lying or not. Possibly it is true and she has all good intentions for the sake of USA's economy.

It is also possible that she has a selfish intention or she has a large deposit of bitcoins. And possibly you are true in saying that she is a liar and just use this phrases to get more public votes.

All the politicians are liars. Every single time they're making it look like they'd do ANYTHING for their country. This happens just until they've won their wanted positions. After that, everything goes exactly the opposite way, pretending that they didn't even promise all that stuff ever in their lives. You should never trust a politician, IMO.

All over the world politicians are politicians, so I don’t see much value in this news especially any news or promise made on the face of elections. Although we can have hope that governments will have positive approach towards crypto currencies / blockchains and we should really think on the growth of bitcoin community in terms of quality as if someone starts misusing bitcoins and if it continues then I don’t think governments will have any positive approach, in fact they will start restricting us.

Politicians promises are two things, either they will really implement it or they will just leave it behind. But they have to win first in the election. We still do not know if its a political strategy, but we can not really eliminate the fact that all their platforms though how committed they are they are all thinking of winning and how to win. So her support for blockchain maybe just a lie or truth but the actual is it all serves her purpose to win the election.

But this is a good news to bitcoin industry, government backing up bitcoins will increase bitcoins stability in the market. I foresee an increase in bitcoins price if Clinton will win the presidency and I hope she will win so it will benefit us bitcoin users.

Donald Trump will probably see Bitcoin as a threat, seeing as he can't directly control it, and outlaw it completely.

Mark my words, that guy will destroy your countries' economy.
Vod, you are just jealous of Trump because he is not a Canadian.

What I want to say - don't be fooled by Hillary, she would say ANYTHING to gain even 1 more vote. She doesn't know what she is talking about, but I am sure - she is not supporting bitcoin.
She supports private blockchains, and only because somebody told her that this is rising trend recently. Her 'support' has nothing to do with a free decentralized currency.

Hello
Well its good to hear that she supports and will promote Blockchain technologies. I just hope such technologies will become more popular in India too along with all types of cryptocurrencies. Much of the below poverty line population of India will never support bitcoin but still there is hope for bitcoin in India

most probably just a promize. it would be great to have it supported though, if banks could use the technology for their transactions, there would be less corrupt politicians and so i don't think the local politician nor the senate may even support.

Well we all know it's just a statement to get in touch and probably get the vote of the community. Hilary is backed by Wall Street, and we know the Blockchain is disruptive to most, if not all of them.

Wish Sanders would have gotten support, but seems he couldn't beat America's elite.

I fully with agree with you. Hillary will always put the interest of wall street before the crypto currencies. It is just another desperate attempt to get votes. Don't get fooled by a woman. She is just another politican trying everything to get votes.

Because of the election time and possibility of losing few votes she did not say the popular blockchain is good, but Bitcoin is bad opinion from her bankster advisors. As it turned out both Hillary and Trump is bad choice for truly decentralized cryptocurrencies.

I think you have some major facts wrong here - Blockchain tech is not disruptive to any Wall Street related organization or institution - Bitcoin is.
Private blockchains is nothing more than glorified databases. They are not secure if not backed by enough hash power.

Nice to see that candidate for president said something like this, its nice cause they have it in campaign and that is good for beginning. I don't have opinion about political figures, they will come and go, bitcoin will stay. And if they started to use bitcoins in their presidential campaigns now, I think next time they will pay attention on bitcoins even more.
Like always US is adopting new things much faster then rest of the world, it would be great that other countries follow this example.

She didn't say she support bitcoin.

Not sure if she understands what blockchain really means, but I think she was just expressing her support for the development of new technologies, which include blockchain technology.
Yeah, I think this is pretty much the case, this doesn't really have anything to do with Bitcoin.
Blockchain =/= Bitcoin

I'm not a fan of her (also not a Trump fan), but I'm not able to vote for her anyway since I'm not in the US.

yeah, people like to exagerate the news most of the time and believe that government is on board with bitcoin and what it has brought to us. but they have not shown any interest in "bitcoin" itself and instead have been trying forever to seperate the technology and use it for their own good.

I would take this with a grain of salt seeing as Hillary is notorious for saying anything she can to try and appeal to anyone with any diversity in the US  ::)

Not a huge fan of hilary clinton but have to agree that any huge public figure backing bitcoin is really great news. Kinda hurts the cool
factor if governments start backing it but imo I like anything that gives people more peace of mind and stability

I think that when she becomes president that she will try to stop the growth of bitcoins.Because she thinks that it is harmful to the global marketplace as a whole.

Governments and politicians will never back Bitcoin, control over monetary system is one of the pinnacles of government, and probably the most important one. They will do everything they can to preserve that power, they will "support" cryptocurrencies by creating private blockchains, they will try to put pressure on coin developers and so on.

Haha. Sure. I will believe it when I see it. Politicians tend to make a lot of promises during the campaign period and then they would break them when they have already won. If she keeps her word then I hope she will not bring more regulations that will impede the technology's growth and development.
