Besides using it as a currency it seems like its impossible to make money off of bitcoins unless you already have some serious cash , mining bitcoins is long done nd over with nd its seems like trading/exchange doesnt give you much of a profit , so im just wonding as someone just now arriving to this dead party whats there to do with bitcoin ?

Holding & waiting till the price raise over the years is probably the best option, of course, there are some other possibilities like opening a faucet etc... but It requires some investment.

You can spend them, buy and sell them, save them, lend them, give them to people, gamble with them, just about anything you can do with fiat.
What were you expecting?

bitcoin is supposed to be a currency and as long as it is working that way it is alive and kicking.

and as for the price, the hype is over and you can only expect a reasonable rise and no more huge pumps going to the moon kind of things. (although it may happen but the probability of it is dwindling as the market size increases)

hold your bitcoin and waiting for a good moment in high rate is a good choice to save and keep your bitcoin and if the rate is up so high, then you can sell your bitcoin. don't invest your bitcoin in cloud mining, but you can use your doge to make invest in free cloud mining. beside that i think you don't mind to keep your bitcoin as investment in long term because bitcoin itself is an investment. its just my opinion.

but for any of them you need a capital and some experience and you definitely can not jump in and start earning money.

You are wrong actually trading bitcoin can make you really nice money however risk is high. Other than that bitcoin can be used in lots of store these days but depends on which country you are in. One of the great feature bitcoin have is low fee on transaction and also no any restrictions on where you can send bitcoin and where not. I think in future we will see bitcoin a way of sending remitances.

What makes you think that making money just by holding money is a normal thing? You seem to be absorbed by the fiat world, where people receive interest in order to further expand the monetary base for currency devaluation. Bitcoin doesn't pay interest, because it's a non-inflationary currency with a fixed maximum supply.

If are only interested in "making money" why did you come here? There are lots of other assets and possibilities that are suitable for your purposes. Apparently you have no interest in the concept of a decentralized currency like Bitcoin, nor do you understand the potential of it. Therefore you won't be able to profit from it. Trust me - it's better for you to go for other assets, Bitcoin won't fulfill your expectations.

Well I looked into bitcoin a couple days wanting to just let my computer make me money , but learned quite quickly GPU mining wont even pay the electricity nd it will take a lengthy period to pay off an ASIC so now im looking into Altcoin exchanges but im just skeptical about the reward vs the risk to me it seems like there is a rather low reward vs a higher risk but maybe its just because im new to this whole thing

Well the really good thing about bitcoin at the moment is its ability to transfer to anywhere in the world for very little fees this is why I think it has potential but if somehow this is not the case anymore people will move onto other crypto currencies

Just hold your bitcoin and when the value increase you can earn from it, i also trade and earn but it will take time atleast i do something that i know in time i can earn. it has risk but its worth it if you try. dont be negative because you wont gain anything if you have that mindset.

Sorry but I can't take you seriously. This month alone I have made very good money on, XMR, Dash, Lisk, Stratis and ETC. I won't give you a number but to say it wasn't much profit is laughable lololol

There are always opportunities, the problem is that most of us don't see them, neither do we ever try to find them in earnest. For example, around a year ago I was seriously considering testing waters with mining altcoins. Wtf, I even ordered some top-of-the-line graphics card for that purpose. But at the very last moment I changed my mind and cancelled that order...

There are lots of things to do with bitcoin, but it can be summarized into investments and purchasing. You can simply get a couple of bitcoins and hold on to it for some years and you should be getting a hefty or at least a decent gain from your investment.

You can use it invest or purchase various altcoins, join ICO or just gamble. Maybe you can try to get some newbies into bitcoins by giving them some and slowing the capabilities of bitcoin as well as blockchain.

You can't even use it as currency, well, you can in a very small amount of places, there are the dark markets if you're into that.

Also network is usually congested and one has to pay extra attention to that, not worthwhile.

People expect too much from Bitcoin. I know it's interesting to work on increasing your coin stash, but some times you have to be happy with what you have.

There is no point into trying to find ways to make profit. People are mostly forcing themselves to make profits, but it doesn't always work like that.

Why?
1- Market is too calm for the average traders, so it's better to sit back and do nothing.
2- Investing your coins into something is too risky, so again, it's better to keep holding.
3- Mining is over as you also said, so another option you can write off.
4- Investing in altcoins is also too risky as people purely depend on pumps and dumps there, so once again, keep holding.

TLDR; Hold your coins.

well, i am a trader myself, and i have to say that trading does bring in nice returns for me. especially when there is enough volatility. currently for this month i'm up like 5% in profits from trading. with enough volatility, i some times get to make profits ranging from 15-20% in just a month. trading with the current stability is difficult, but still doable. it costs more time, and the rewards are lower, but i prefer profit over everything.

if you don't do trading you will not increase your amount of bitcoin, if you just hold you will only increase the fiat value of your coin, i think the OP want to increase is amount also, i would suggest to invest in altcoin best revenue for now

Using bitcoins to earn a profit is pretty similar if not exactly the same as doing it with fiat. You can use exchanges, sports bet, gamble, hold your coins for a price increase, etc. It's up to you what you do with them but I think most people will try to slowly and safely increase their bitcoins. You can start a faucet and make money from ad revenue, you could start and exchange or research into alt coins. There's too many things to name.

In my opinion, there are millions of things to do with bitcoin, its just like what can I do with money? I have a lot of things to do with it. So far Bitcoin can be converted to FIAT then there is no limitation in what one can do with it... But if you still want to keep it as coin then you can trade it to make more, keep it for its value to increase or even gamble it is another option

i agree but one should look at the most profitable investment, with the less risk and the faster roi, and i think the altcoin scene or bitcoin trading are the way to go, other investment outside of cryptoworld are really too slow, and the fiat world the % returned is very low comapred to here

i agree that mining is not an option on current state but i disagree on your trading statement.the profit you make from trading is always depends on you i have seen some users able to get 50% of their investment from trading and i gets only 10-15% so it depends on the amount you are trading

I think both trading or buy your own mining have different benefits if you are mining its for lazy people that they dont want to work hard.. unlike in trading you should follow and study it first and you should always monitor the price for every altcoin you have.

The trading rules, more capital = more profit , lower capital = lower profit. the amount of profit it's relied upon with your capital in you're filled with getting them.

Somehow this is not the case anymore? It will be upgraded. Why switch and not just make it more useful. I would rather think of another way to use it than change and start to trust another crypto, that will take time again.

You could do the same thing as you do with your fiat money.  You could buy some cellphone load, pay your bills, loans, tuition fees, and even for reservations on bus, planes, and hotels.  Aside from investing you could earn bitcoins through trading and doing some typing and solving captchas.

I started bitcoin from nothing and I used to earn through faucets and PTC sites before and now by doing some services. For me, it's not that when you enter into the bitcoin world, you'll be rich and/or you'll be earning lots of money. Earning bitcoin is like earning fiat, you must work for it, make some effort to gain it. The reason why most people are using bitcoin is because of its features and potential. You can do many things with it, trade, gamble, invest, start contests and giveaways etc. What's important is that you are happy with what you are doing with your coins.

Well i do not do mining because electricity here in our country is very expensive plus the amount that i will get in mining is not worth it. I doesn't trade also because i'm not good at it. What i do to my Bitcoin these days is i used it to pay my bills because in our online wallet here in our country we can use it to pay bills.

Yeah that is why I dont think miners just mine bitcoins. Of course they will do other stuffs like trading or some online jobs.  ;D They have to be flexible also to maximize their profits and not just rely on what they mine.

Maybe gambling just for fun if you want to pass the time and maybe profit from it if you are lucky. Just be firm and focus with your purpose that you just want to gamble because you have some bitcoin you can afford to lose and if you are not lucky then you just get over it and moved on. You can also think of projects or sites that will let you earn bitcoin even though it maybe small but still you are earning.If you don't want to do anything then just store it in your wallet and wait for the price to increase but it would be better if you act and do something because I believe that hard work pays off.

Who says that you cannot earn bitcoins without having some cash or investing money from your pocket? I have never invested anything from my side and i'm already earning and accumulating bitcoins from a time now, and you are wrong about trading that it does not give much of a profit but it is the most profitable thing you can do with bitcoin if you are trading altcoins, but that would surely need you to have quite a good amount of bitcoins.

exactly that's why i do trading, trade bitcoin to fiat and vice versa, trading altcoin also but i think trading altcoin is very risky than bitcoin to fiat since altcoin's price very fluctuate than bitcoin, but it's pretty fast to grow your bitcoin moreover when altcoin's price being pumped 10X.

I am only trading and holding. Basic rule for me is that when the market is calm with very low volume just like it is now, I use my time to do other things instead of forcing myself to do something Bitcoin related. Holding is the best option here. Especially because I also have a job and a personal life.

You could do many things with bitcoin just like what you can do to the money.  You can buy it only to a limited shops who accepts bitcoin as payment.  I use bitcoin to topup my phone and you could also pay your credit cards through it.  You can even have reservation for your next trip through bitcoin.  If you are bored and want to have some fun, you could gamble some of it. ;)

Yes even if it is so far as long as there is some technology that could make them withdrew the money that you have sent through bitcoin. Although I am using it in just our country but I send it in a far place and they can withdraw what I send in an ATM machine from a bank.

I don't see that part working. There is nothing convenient to spend it on, nothing I want or need can easily be found and purchased with BTC. Why would I convert to BTC to go out and spend after great deal of time searching for some place to accept it?

And it seems that the vast majority of holders, if these forums are any indication, simple are holding and waiting for some huge price increase. Why would the price rise when very little is being used as a currency?

I think your right about much of this. Bitcoin never was more than money. It's the best money, but just money. So what can you do with it? Anything you can do with the other money you have and lots more. The real power of bitcoin is not well understood until you know a lot about money in general. Fiat money or private money systems have inherent problems starting with trust. For example if you have dollars in your pocket those are not actually yours, they belong to the federal reserve. The issuer can change the value as they wish, the supply, the distribution. You and any wealth you have stored are just along for the ride.  Bitcoin is open source, peer-to-peer and beyond the control of any authority. There is only the market and the 100% predictable math used in it's operation. You can trade with your neighbor or someone on the other side of the planet. No other money in history is like this.

There is actually a fair amount of things to do with Bitcoin right now, you can buy things (obviously), invest in various businesses within the Bitcoin economy, do altcoin trading, gamble, donate to charity, and do a ton of other things that I haven't listed here. You can even go and just burn your Bitcoin if you want to at some burner address.

I think the only thing that costumers needs are buyer protection just like the same as paypal.. this is i think the only one can bring bitcoin to be popular and more store will accept it as payment in the future.. if buy protection added from bitcoin just like paypal more people will convert in bitcoin to use it for buying  any many stores..

You can literally do anything with your coins, just as long as you know where to spend them according to your wants.

Buy goods, fund your bank account, hire services, etc. Anything you can ask for, you can get for bitcoin.
Dark market is usually where the 'dark' stuffs are found.

Investing is only better if you find a way to only profit from it. Investing is not "only gain" process, you can lose money as well.
So far holding bitcoin is proven to be the best solution and you can be called position trader by doing so.

I am more a hodler type of person as my handle also suggests, but so far holding has brought me more than decent profit in the recent time.

The pump to +$770 is a good example that holding does indeed pay off when you buy your coins at lower prices.

But to book profits, you would have had to sell your coins (at least, some part of). If you didn't do just that when the price was at +$770, your reference to this figure is irrelevant since right now the price is at $570. On the other hand, you never know where the true top is...

If in your country bitcoin not accept yet as an official payment, then save your bitcoin. Wait until some store that accepted bitcoin for payment is open, or some bitcoin ATM is build. And spend them.

That is simply not true. There is not a single monthly bill I can pay with BTC There is not a single grocery store I can use BTC for to buy food. None of my credit cards accept BTC. I know of no, that is zero, brick and mortar stores, that I know of that accept BTC. There are no gas stations that I can use BTC to fuel my car.

Okay we no need to just relied with one target for selling our coins i think like this if the price in this time is in $570 and sometimes the price will increase for $600 and after it will down again into the same rate and rising again for $590 and i think there is a two point in where we must selling our coins in. maybe if that is correct.

Well you cant expect to gain 100$ with 1$, in order to gain bitcoin you need to work hard and determination, not all the member here start with full of cash, some start really from zero but now, they are being able to earn a lot

I did actually sell around that price level. If I didn't sell then would I have felt like an idiot as that was the best chance to secure profits at.

I think he means investing rather than spending Bitcoins, and yeah there is money to be made with that, but also a risk of getting scanmed.

For me, it has a lot of uses. I pay my mobile plan with it, order food online and get some extra pocket money thanks to the sig campaign.

Yeah maybe sometimes you will end up having more money in pocket but the possibility of having nothing at end are more than having more, so that is really a bad choice for spending bitcoins if you are not willing to just blow them up anywhere without doing anything for yourself.

Most likely you are talking about dice and Bitcoin casinos with house edge where you are invariably set to lose in the long term. On the other hand, there are a lot of games often referred to as gambling too, but which require both luck and skill, for example, poker. Thereby, investing in these skills may be profitable, especially if you have a predisposition for such games and love playing them. There are also sports betting which can also be considered as gambling. Though betting arbitrage often used in sports betting seems to have more to do with trading than gambling...

I understand that some people see the value of 600 or 700 dollars for one Bitcoin and think that it's just too expensive to get into or make money with it. Which is what the original post was all about, title is actually a bit misleading.

Considering Bitcoins as a real money, now a days, you can now enjoy the benefits of having many bitcoins in your wallet. As its price increasing, you are lucky if you have many bitcoins, you can use bitcoins now as payment for utility bills, and its more convenient to use bitcoins as an alternative payment method because payment can be done online and you don't need to go outside to pay for your bills. You can also use bitcoins for investment and to pay your friends using bitcoins, or you can cash it out to buy stuffs that you want to buy.

I agree trading is good for grow our money.  Trading bitcoin is different with trading forex,  that mean no margin call or pip. There is only two condition that will happen,  gain profit or suffer a financial lost. Do not be greedy,  we have to sell when the price rise although we only get litle profit,  we have to be satisfied with it. country which only have a few minner will usualy have positif market. On the other hand, a lot of freelancers, if not all, accept bitcoins for their services in the Internet. Without Bitcoin, you would hardly be able to pay somebody willing to work for you being half around the world from you without any hassle. You would have to use PayPal or other such services and pay hefty commissions at that..

As to me, Bitcoin fits perfectly this niche of online payments for online services

In reality, the use of Bitcoin has mostly became an online only thing. It is extremely hard for people to use it in real life due to the low adoption rate. It is however, very easy to use online to pay for things such as hosting.

If I am completely honest and look at the facts, then there is zero incentive from my side to actually spend any of my coins in a shopping mall.

1 ~ Bitcoin transaction fees simply make it not interesting as I pay for things instantly with cash or my bank card without any fees.

2 ~ The far majority of the merchants accepting Bitcoin are using a service such as BitPay where you require to have at least 1 confirmation when it comes to higher value transactions.

I currently only spend my coins online at international merchants as Bitcoin is perfectly suited for this purpose. In short, as online currency fantastic, as local currency not so much.

Yeah agree this is the advantage of bitcoin there is no hassle for paying or receive it for payment in your work..
Unlike paypal that it takes a long time before your account to be approve also the difference about the fee.. For now they are few stores are accepting bitcoin but i think in the future many stores and shop will release that can accept bitcoin as payment..

I would even add that spending bitcoins on everyday things like groceries and gas doesn't make any sense as such even if you had to pay no fees at all and all transactions would be instantly fast. Spending precious bitcoins on smaller and unimportant things is like spending gold coins and getting change in nickels. We already have fiat for this...

Who says storing it is risky? It is not risky unless you don't know how to secure your money, it all depends on you if how much you can protect your things, if you are good at it then they are secure, so it is also good to be stored.

This wouldn't really make sense for me as I would then need to go through the hassle of signing up to a Bitcoin related debit card. And to do what? The same as my bank card allows me to do? No thanks. As said before, for international use, Bitcoin is a great functioning currency, for local use not.

I think holding Bitcoins nowadays could being profitable, instead of using or spending it. The price is increasing already since a while and if this continues as expected, holders can making good profit

yeah right. and how come the storing of bitcoin could be risky if other people didn't know your account information especially your password, passphrase, 2FA etc. unless you shared it to other or you have been attacked by a phisher. as long as you have secured your account then it wouldn't be risky .

It looks like you are claiming that Bitcoin use in everyday life sucks just because you should go through the hassle of issuing a Bitcoin payment card on your behalf as though the procedure of issuing a bank debit card is somehow fundamentally different. I guess it is similar to saying that bank deposits suck overall not because the interest you get on the money placed in the bank doesn't exceed inflation in most cases but simply because you have to go to the bank, sign up some papers to open an account there and then transfer some funds to it...

Yes, i agree.. storing bitcoins is more safe than investing it.  All digital wallet have the security to protect our bitcoins so dont worry about it.

So you are right of course, we use it as valyuty, but bitcoin helps to invest in themselves and thus develop.

These days bitcoin can be used in various sectors, as acceptance is gradually increasing. Importantly variation in price is happening often, so users with good fiat can make good profit by buying and selling within few days.

At least for him it is a hassle because he have to go through the process in which he have already done in his bank card.  and for him, there is no added value if he switch to bitcoin. Which is true. Why would you switch into something if you already have something in place that is working for you. I think it will be different to others, who while spending their bitcoin also earns from them thru trading or other bitcoin source of income.

That's the best way right now, to trade it, using fiat and earning bitcoin. Other than that, it is nice to use it to hire people to work for you and pay them with bitcoin and you earn dollar from their work like those faucets. Mining profitability I think won't last long, and the maintenance/electricity now is too high, lucky if you are living in places where electricity cost is lower.

i agree with you sir, its better to save the bitcoin from now on and see the price is going to increase in next month. i'd rather to save my bitcoin rather than spend it and maybe for small amount to spending and the rest is to keep in my wallet.

Since I am from India So I think it is not better to hold Bitcoin at the present time Because the price of Bitcoin is going to fall daily due to new currency notes launch ( 500INR & 1000INR ) .
So due to this fact price is going to down so it would be better to sell because the price will go continuos down for two to three month .

The ban on 500 and 1000 INR notes did not seem to have any effect on the bitcoin market in India till now, it has been 20 days already. Seems like transaction processors and web wallets like PayTM and Freecharge are more accepted here.

Not have any effect? People in India pay a significant premium over the normal market rate just because they are looking for a hedge. Of course, if you compare their volumes and level of importance to western exchanges, it's nothing more than peanuts, but it's a start. It has made people aware of how their government is working against them. If the government there keeps pushing people further, then it's just a matter of time before in potential millions of people will look to do the same as the low number of people have done already. Another reason for the little importance of the Indian market is that it's very difficult to buy themselves into Bitcoin. As soon as this is not an issue anymore, then look at what will happen with the price.

If from my point of view over here, there are lots of things to with Bitcoin even the richest set of people in my immediate community wont tell me they are tired of making more money not to talk of me who has not even made any and since Bitcoin is money and conversion is available to be made into FIAT, then I say there are several things to do with it.

Well today as you can see a vast majority of people is trying to acumulate as much as btc as they can since the price is predicted to jump unleast for 200% in the next year or two so investing in btc, while the price is still low, consodering that it will jump in the next years while the minority or a decent % of btc users exchange them for fiat.

Also some people use btc for gambling, of course, but I wouldn't recommend that if youre not a pro or have enough to cover the loss that can be rather great, but in gambling you usualy end up with losing everything or a great portion of btc, so I wouldn't recommend gambling to anyone.

Also if you're asking where to spend btc, you can invest into gambling website prizepool or start trading, also you have a lot of websites that accept bitcoin as a payment option, now it's up to you on what you need or the final solution would be the deep web. :D

Wow you can talk a load of crap. Nothing to do with btc ? Do you live with your eyes and mind shut ? I am holding bitcoin for a couple of months and got good profit.You also can hold bitcoin.Since, bitcoin is using by people all over the world, so many online shop accepting bitcoin as a payment method. Well, from my own point of view there are many ways to make money on btc niche. Just go through the forum >the marketplace to check out what is hot with high demand.

You can just start by creating account on this forum and reselling such account when they have more activities & reputation.

There are lot of people who are willing to buy such account.

Secondly, i'll suggest visiting the service section of this forum daily > to see if, there are consistent request for a specific service which has not been filled.

There are many things one can do to make money here but, you should not limit yourself to bitcoin niche.
