Increasing price only benefits speculators. Some people (mostly speculators, of course) claim that an increasing price attracts more adoption; however, the people it attracts are just more speculators. If Bitcoin is all about speculation, then it is just a giant pyramid scheme and a waste of time.

The only way we will see a large increase in price that stays is through mass adoption.  
We need another big company to start taking payments in Bitcoin.  
This will lead to lots of new users, and a huge increase in the number of daily transactions.

A huge price increase will only make people sell everything they have and walk away (at least most of them will) so I'd say having Mass adoption is much better (and which will eventually lead into a stable price increase)

isn't huge price increase, not pump and dump, but stable and huge price increase, like for example 10k and more, a consequence of mass adoption? they are not mutually exclusive imho

to me this goes hand in hand.
how can the price stay low if we have a massive adoption? also if we have a huge and stable price increase everybody will want to jump on the wagon.
 

Yeah this is good idea but how we can start it and how we can get big company? this is the problem right now its hard to got some big company to use bitcoin and go new users to use bitcoin..

As much as such people want to consider themselves beyond average, or 'aware', they aren't either. Anyone who does this is not able to keep their own greed under control. Aside from speculators and traders, I still don't see the point of selling Bitcoin when you can use it. It is a currency after all.

I'm pretty sure that volatility isn't the primary turn-off, i.e. stability won't make "everyone jump on the wagon".

You can keep sending suggestive emails to the appropriate department of a company, asking them to introduce Bitcoin as a payment option.

A 'huge price increase' also known as a bubble, isn't specially beneficial for Bitcoin. We've already had a few of those in the past. User adoption is the key.

bubbles are fun while they're happening. the hangover after them is not fun and last an awful lot longer. it could be argued that they inhibit adoption too as you end up with an army of angry bagholders while anyone who was considering it but didn't feels like they dodged a bullet.

I vote for mass adoption. i'd like to see a healthy price as the result of people using it, not speculating.

i think OP did not mean a big bubble, pump and dump or whatever you want to call it. he meant an increase for good.
i was also not talking about volatility. just imagine bitcoin price would go up $100 every month. with many ups and downs, but at the end of the month it is $100 more worth then the month before. and tell me now this would not result in an steadily growing user base.

Mass adoption would be an end goal for bitcoin. Huge price increases (as well as huge decreases) among other news and events help bring attention to bitcoin because that's what makes the news. This in turn increases and spreads awareness of bitcoin and thus contributes to adoption as a result of people taking a look into bitcoin.

Mass adoption in turn, leads to increase in price due to an general increase in demand. The two aren't opposed to each other.

I will say mass adoption is much better once this happens it is obvious to see an increase in price. The more is has adoption the more it will be stable and valuable. I don't think a huge increase without mass adoption can bring stability in its value.

IMO, mass adoption will lead to huge price increase, but huge price increase won't get mass adoption, people may afford bitcoin. So I think mass adoption is better.

Either, are intrinsically linked. Ask 'the man on the street' and he will reliably inform you that Bitcoin shot to $1000 dollars, then some kind of big exchange got hacked, and now it is dead, history.

A huge price jump would change all of that.

If I am able to profit out of my Bitcoin holdings, then I will be more than happy. That said, I will be happy if the BTC adoption grows as well. But right now, I have almost given up on that. Anyway.... if the exchange rates increase to $10,000 or $25,000 per coin, then I am sure that the BTC will be able to attract a lot of attention, and as a result the usage will also go up.

of course the adoption of future will be better. since the adoption of the future development of bitcoin on all sides including the bitcoin prices will also push up

Without doubts mass adoption, soo bitcoin would be used, knowed and the good thing in the end it should make the price grow a bit, and the demand and supply for have it would work, something currently we dont see at bitcoin.
From other side a bigger price would bring more people for sure, but the community would keep being almost the same and bitcoin at same status, unknown for the most people.

Mass adoption , without any second thought . Huge price increase will just make current traders happy and also it may result in huge DUMP . Definitely not huge price increase is good for bitcoin or for any other coin for that matter . Gradual increase in price and mass adoption are the key to success .

If it increases to 10k or 25k don't you think 80% of the bitcoin holders will sell off all the bitcoins they have ? That isn't good for bitcoin .

Huge price increase it just for awhile. It means that more people buys bitcoin, but next to that is huge price decrease. In Mass adoption make the price of bitcoin increase and more stable. So I'll go for mass adoption.

Yeah and the same thing we witnessed before the halving when people were buying it like an crazy and it crossed $750 level but it cannot be considered as an mass adoption as people were only interested in making profits at halving.

From what I have seen so far while in Bitcoin, with big price increases that hit the news we get an influx of new investors/users. To answer your original question of course it's mass adoption that is better for Bitcoins future.

Just like what others have mentioned, I also believe that mass adoption would be better than price increase. For me, being known and accepted by people will lead to bitcoin's success and will let us use it easier and more convenient. If it happens, price increase won't be impossible also.

I'm so damn sick of people saying how they love Bitcoin so much and then saying they're holding them for a price increase. If you love Bitcoin try spending them. Go buy a gyft card and get some snacks and beer or have dinner out or buy a pizza or whatever. Sitting on them forever is a way to guarantee bitcoins extinction. Unless you're only here because you're nothing but a forex trader then by all means fuck off and die.

Mass adoption helps the price to to increase significantly.
One must understand the basic law of demand and supply to see how the price could go up.  This is why eth keeps trying to make is way because they know how to make its demand. The users needs ETH even when they are not supporting ETH.

My view exactly, but we will quickly run into network congestion and the scaling issues will hamper the progress. All things must come together, for

mass adoption to succeed. The side chains and Segwit and block sizes and all that nonsense needs to be resolved. We will definitely see a huge split,

between public and private Blockchains and Bitcoin will be at the centre of it all.  ;D 

I choose mass adoption, because if there are many people who use bitcoin on their live ( for trading,shopping or Investment) it is mean bitcoin growing up. In my opinion it is better for bitcoin future.

I dont know what to choose. But if mass adoption happen. I think bitcoin will rise its price because of increase the demand of bitcoins. If the price will increase. I think they will get attracted and use it. Theres no difference for me either way.

try not to bring sidechains into it.. sidechains are an altcoin.
if you want bitcoin to succeed then bitcoin scaling must come first not pushing people over to sidechains by locking them out of bitcoins and taking those coins out of circulation, just so that people play around with an altcoin and make the altcoin more succesful.(many devs want monero to be the bitcoin 2.0 (facepalm) sidechain)

however LN is a layer of bitcoin and not a sidechain.
this could benefit people doing the same trades day in day out (paying the same gambling sites, merchants often, faucet raiders, advertisers, etc often) but onchain capacity has to grow aswell. and before you slam down that thought.. core is actually ok with 4mb block bloat. so dont get distracted with 'bitcoin cant scale' or is doomed' nay sayers. they are only after pushing sidechains.
even core now agree 4mb can easily be handled by a raspberry Pi and any computer under 15 years old. so no need to worry about 100% datacentre nodes either, so thus that ends any crys of 2mb is bad.

i have never been fooled by the speculators mindset of price rise first, adoption second and scaling third. as that is just a route to ruin bitcoin in favour of popularizing an altcoin

i think mass adoption is very good for bitcoin future if bitcoin increase its adoption then price will be also going to good position and then bitcoin get more stronger and popular.

i go for mass adoption as insanely high increases will never last very long. it will make a few people very wealthy, and the far majority of the people end up with a bad taste in their mouths. with mass adoption the price will likely also get to increase, but more in a sustainable manner which i prefer over anything as i am a long term minded person.

Both is good and appreciated.
A higher price will give us more media attention and more people might become curious and try out Bitcoin.
And more people using Bitcoin means more buy and sell, more transactions, more demand which also results in a higher price.
So it is not a either or choice to me.

For me yes both of them are needed because if there is adoption people will attract to use bitcoin and if they see that the price of bitcoin is also increasing more people will attract to use bitcoin..  so both of them are needed.

i choose both will be better for bitcoin because with so many people know bitcoin, it will make bitcoin rate is increase, because there are buy and sell transaction, not only for bitcoin-altcoin, but for bitcoin-fiat. with many mass adoption in many places, bitcoin will be know by many people and i am sure that the bitcoin rate will be follow too.

it depend what you mean by higher price, because price can artificially be manipulated to big even now withotu mass adoption, whales can pump it easily, and you can have without worry a $1000+ price, but to have 10k i doubt they can pump this high

That's what we need. Right now more than 80% of the coins in circulation are in the hands of a few thousands of users. This is very much detrimental to the future prospects of BTC. For BTC to grow, we need these big holders to either sell, or give away their coins for free. A currency will not survive, if 80% of it is in the hands of a few elite users.

giving LARGE amounts of coins away for free is silly. this is because even with faucets giving away small amounts for free in amounts too low for noobs to use to make a transaction straight away to see/experience bitcoins abilities first hand.. the ease of getting these free bitcoins, means its needed to be small unusable amounts as the only way to deter faucet raiders from treating it as a salary, even if thats exactly what most faucet raiders are doing.

there are atleast 200,000 coins on exchanges at any one given time. plenty for people to buy. i dont thing that there is a debate about the 'elite' hoarding either. the 'elites' will ofcourse sell them at some point so relax about that..

all in all the supply and demand on exchanges and free give aways are about right. the nature of the markets has found its own natural levels and are working as they should.
what we should be concentrating on is these two things

1. capacity growth (avoid fee wars and bottlenecks)
2. merchant adoption (free advertising when merchants promote the new payment method)
both of which will increase user adoption with ease and not so much head banging. because people see its actually a currency and not some boiler room scheme

which the side effect of more users and merchant adoption is a bigger market cap for the greedy speculators to orgasm over, but mainly the better user adoption being more priority than price because more users, more uses=strong stable and better bitcoin from an infrustructure and usability standpoint, to fend off an altcoin becoming more popular

I voted in a huge price increased .it will bring a big impact to the market as it will spread the big news of money making alternative for fiat money ,if the price increased i believe that mass adoption will also take effect on the market .so it would better like before the end of halving huge price increased faster so it follows all of the given choices.

Mass adoption would obviously be better since there would be better publicity for it, thus the more bitcoins are decentralized and probably and hopefully more active bitcoin users. Mass adoption would enable better payment options for us bitcoin users. Huge price increase would only attract holders and will have more people holding and less active bitcoin in circulation, therefore less chances for improvement.

Well i think about your question is linked with bitcoin life, but I prefer for choosing the mass adoption because, okay we are forgetting about the huge price increase because mass adoption but bitcoin will get a larger with mass adoption and for surely receiving any impact like will appearing a regulated for bitcoin from the government? or especially for bitcoin life will be a long.

It depends on the type of person. There are enough people wanting the price to go up to such a level where they can make huge profits from, but they mostly don't speak. These people don't care about mass adoption as they only want quick gains. I personally find mass adoption to be the better option as I am here for the long term. That being said, mass adoption in the way that people use Bitcoin more as a currency tool. That gives merchants around the world more incentive to start accepting Bitcoin as form of payment.

For the long term it is mass adoption. What good is a huge price if the only people using it are the speculators making profit on BTC's price movements. But if you're here only to make some money, then go ahead and speculate in BTC because it is available and no one is stopping you. In fact most of the users here are in it for that very reason.

Speculation is not about great value of assets - it is not about huge volatility of asset or currency.
I don't see much speculation, or at least off the charts speculation on commodity markets.
Bitcoin is specific because it is volatile crytocurrency - there is nothing wrong with having stable expensive bitcoin.

Just due to the law of supply and demand, mass adoption would create a huge price increase. The more people who want ANYTHING of limited supply, the more that thing will cost. That said, adoption is basically how price increases. Someone with an insane amount of money to burn possibly could increase the price artificially by offering to buy at a stupidly high price, but that price couldn't be sustained because it is doubtful that person could secure nearly all of the bitcoin at that price to sustain it, (there would be many holdouts waiting for it to go higher.)

i believe that these two are connected to each other. of course i mean adoption and price rise not a huge price rise. because for example when price rises a lot more people come to bitcoin and invest in it and anybody who buys bitcoin will look more into it to see what it does. and also the adoption is obviously rising the price.

Price increase of course but if it will not adopt by many people there might be probability that it may gone or there's no price increase to happen. But for now I might enjoy using what bitcoin can offer for now and worried later. Just entertain and earn for now.

Please, you're not reading the thread for fully and you can find the op is not asking about the rising effect from mass adoption. but that is very useless a lot of people is know if the price of bitcoin will increase if getting a mass adoption.

I chose mass adoption, because with it, many people including merchants will utilize bitcoin and it will help bitcoin grow into a less volatile currency because people don't have to convert to cash most of the time and use it as is.

My sense is that unless the price breaches a certain level, a lot of the apps that would drive real mass adoption will remain unviable. In that sense, we may need a massive price move first.

The two options you have given here, are dependent on each other. Mass adoption is required to increase the price of bitcoin. On the other hand, if the price is increased to a very high level, people will start adopting bitcoin for investment and increase the market penetration.

So, both the things will be required for better future of bitcoin. Price increase is the ultimate goal for some and to happen that in real, mass adoption is required.

If there is mass adoption then it would mean there's more demand into it and more companies or stores will be convinced that they should accept bitcoin as their mode of payment because more people are using it. In effect, maybe a stable price of bitcoin will be established and trading volume of it will increase and will drive also the price to rise higher.

I more like huge increase price than mass adoption, because people will not interisting use bitcoin if there is not valuable in it. And if there is valuable in bitcoin ( huge increase price) will make mass adoption.

I have come to believe that huge price rises are not good at all for the adoption of bitcoin just the same way the free falls are not good.
because it is the exact opposite of what a currency should be like. a bitcoin user who wants to use bitcoin as a currency would want to be able to have the same purchasing power in the future as he has today. although a small and steady (slow) rise is different from a big sudden rise which will become unstable.

I think with the slow and steady adoption of bitcoins that is going on right now I think it will win slowly come to be a stable part of the world economy. We’ve seen some spikes in price but it has always leveled out and continues to rise. But mass adoption always follows a price spikes.

Mass adoption is 100% the better path when you have to choose between price spikes and more people using it. While price spikes allow for a lot of speculation and a lot of potential to make money, mass adoption makes Bitcoin more valuable as a whole and less prone to being valuable off of a spike. It depends on your personal goals, but mass adoption for long-term value, spikes for speculators.

Yes, mass adoption is the greater achievement to go with, in my opinion too. I believe it will take bitcoin into main stream of adoption as many people and merchants will be backing. High price is only possible when bitcoin hits main stream of adoption. With a strong community of bitcoin world, I believe we are already heading towards that.

The benefit it could give to a wider audience definitely outweighs the price increase that only a few are aware of. With mass adoption, bitcoin's stability is somewhat secured. This is one of the most difficult questions i ever saw on this forum but what i know is that a huge price increase will always be positive for people who are investing with bitcoins you know but a big mass adoption cant be negative also so i dont know what i would pick...

From a huge price increase only a few would really profit.
Even if the bitcoin price would suddenly reach ten times the price it has now, it would not mean much for me because the amount of coins I have is just too low.
But I would be tempted to sell the coins and save my winnings. And many others would be as well, what would bring a decrease of price most likely shortly after the increase.
On the other hand, if a lot of people use bitcoins the coin becomes more and more stable. And I suppose a slow but steady increase in price would go along with that.
A short and steady growth does not bring the temptation to save your winnings. On the long run it would be much better for bitcoin and its price.

so i think the answer is a no brainer: Mass Adoption because that would mean you can use bitcoin as currency everywhere. and price will rise more naturally than a fake unstable rise.

yeha, it's one of the things which makes the price of bitcoin is much higher. Because something has no trust or a strong backup then they will be forgotten. Bitcoin is indeed less investor but it can be covered with the growth of the bitcoin users higher.

I vote for a mass adoption of bitcoins such that fiat is completely wiped out, then we won't be talking about the price of bitcoins anymore. The only trading left would be btc/altcoin.

But I fear the huge increase in price could cause the market to fail though. I bet there would be a huge group of people who just dump the coins essentially causing it to crash, which could potentially make the cost of bitcoins lower than it was before the price spike. So, I believe the mass adoption must be the first step words huge price increase.

when a huge price rise happens obviously anybody with a little brain would sell his coins and price will surely come back down even if it is not to the previous level and then all those people who sold will buy back again hence the stopping of crash. watch a live market next time and you can see this in action.

Agreed, but everyone have different way of thinking, because when a huge price increase and huge number of the people make profit from bitcoin, so thats why people use it again and it make help to going a bright future of bitcoin. Actually we use bitcoin because its price give us profit, so when price increase so its mean Mass adoption is not much better.

I think huge increasing price can attracs the mass adoption but the most of them wiould be just speculators. But it is still fine, if bitcoin is famous becouse of those speculators. In the future, the most of people will using smartphone and internet connection. So many people will prefer like to virtual transaction than banks transfer money.

obviously as a 2 years experienced trader and dealer of bitcoin I would say that mass adoption is important because more people more competition and more earning if you are clever. even i a post it had stated that china is ruling bitcoin because market potential of China is on top.

Not only "invest" but also see the good in spending a little to see the use of it. Bitcoin is like modern day gold and it feels like that when you spend it. A slow steady increase in users is what we need to see. I think that is currently happening in my opinion. I think the future it bright for bitcoin and we will continue to see a rise in bitcoin adoption rates. More the adoption then more the value for bitcoin.

You cannot have mass adoption without huge prince increase. The marketcap is currently less than what, 10 billion dollars? that is nothing, a company like uber is several times bigger. Once Bitcoin goes mainstream, the price will be in the literal moon.

mass adoption will surely help towards a much higher price, but i would prefer more wealthy people with the intention of using bitcoin as store of wealth, instead of faucet hungry people adding next to nothing to the bitcoin eco system. these people mostly convert every bit of earned satoshis to fiat. they don't spend anything at all, etc.

Mass adoption will make bitcoin survive because will there are many comunities of bitcoin (for examples bitcointalk and another forum), bitcoin's price will going up step by step although it is need much time but it is will strong. That is different with huge price increase that be played by bagholder and bitcoin's price will unstable.

Mass adoption is much more better than just a huge increase. I think this way if there will be a huge increase without mass adoption and acceptance this will transform Bitcoin into a commodity or asset than digital currency. Bitcoin still in early phases because big projects which are game changer need big time. The more people adopts the more it will be powerful and gains strength.

One thing certainly is consequence of another, because if there is mass adoption, there will be people buying it, and in this case the price should increase in value.

If we gets the mass adoption from the bitcoin lovers then automatically price  will increase in stock market of bitcoins.
Adoption will arise the level of popularity and demand from the bitcoin world. It's being decentralized currency yet in future, who knows may be dollar can also replace by btc.

In my opinion mass adoption is best because when we will have more bitcoin then there will be more demand of bitcoin in market and more demand means more price so finally it well result in Price hike. So mass adoption will bring a revolution in bitcoin world. It's according to my opinion.

Mass adoption is much required, because when adoption increases automatically the increase in user profile makes impact over the price to get increased. I think mass adoption a much needed bitcoin. Because if bitcoin mass adoption will be many people who know and use it, so bitcoin be used anywhere. If bitcoin extends it would be good for the development of bitcoin, and bitcoin indirectly continues to grow.

Mass adoption would be good but then it could decrease the price if suddenly the demand slows. Price would also be good, for those who have stocked it up. I think it should be both, Mass adoption and price increases also.

Mass adoption would be better for bitcoin to be considered a success. All these huge price increase would mean nothing if only a few persons are benefiting from it. Exactly mass adoption means more investment, more sales and last thing that i consider was the lesser supply which of course in the law of demand and supply the higher the supply the lower the price vice versa.

Mass adoption off course is the permanent solution for stability and healthy future for Bitcoin. It is true huge price increase will be helpful to investors to make some bucks but isn't going to help Bitcoin. Just like everybody here, my vote goes to mass adoption.  Because of simple reason that the more people are patronizing and using bitcoin then the demand would be higher and it will surely gave bitcoin a guarantee that it would goes a long long way.  It could even make bitcoin price higher because of the huge demand for it.  I hope that one day bitcoin would really have many users around the world.

Two things are related with each other i think. When people adopt bitcoin, the price of it will increase naturally. I think bitcoin will be raise more than 800 dollar in 2017.

There is no doubt that mass adoption is certainly a better option if we are looking long term.Bitcoin needs as larger user base to achieve their full potential and this is not a process that happens overnight.There will be a lots ups and downs-pumps and dumps on that road.

If you get mass adoption you are also going to see a jump in price,least that is how I see the future based of current history.
Lets say they are separate...If the price jumps and people are priced out,we would eventually face a decline in the longer term.
If we build a strong base with the mass adoption we could be more profitable and efficient longer term as opposed to sky roof increase pushing out even some of the people here.

A group of 10 to 100 whales can take the price to 10k per coin by tomorrow, in this case we don't need massive adoption, we only need a small group of people with deep pockets ready to move their wealth into BTC.

I do believe mass adoption is the best for bitcoin, with those it will be recognized as currencie, and will get a bigger value, because should happen the same as gold, receives huge investment, from the people, knowing that they might earn a lot and without have to get taxed.

If I was a pure speculator, I'd have to say I'd be hoping for an insane, runaway, drool-on-your-bib bull market--i.e., a huge price increase.  But if I was going to be sucker enough to actually use bitcoin as a currency, then it'd be mass adoption.  I am neither one of those.

What I'm hoping for is a slow, sustainable increase, and that doesn't necessarily mean bitcoin will be widely adopted.  I don't think it will be anytime soon.  I'm not hoping for 2013 again, because that sort of blast isn't sustainable.

There is no point in asking this question cause we can have them both, there is no mass adoption without huge price increase or the opposite.
The real question for me is when this going to happen(cause it will happen one day IMO) if more people start using Bitcoin as a currency and not as an investment only we might see it happening in the next 10-15 years.

you can say huge price increase is a temporary success and as time passes it will start to diminish and finally come to lower of its real price and mass adoption will not increase the price alot but yes it will cause more and more active trades in the market which will slowly increase the price

I'd say mass adoption. With mass adoption comes increased price stability and less control by certain whales who can pump and dump the price artificially with their massive finances. It'll also enable us to have more places to spend and buy Bitcoins from and more control over decentralization of it. It's always preferred that with mass adoption there's no restrictions or regulations imposed by the Governments, cause this would hinder mass adoption.

Mass adoption is better and I want it because mass adoption will demand more bitcoin then it's price will go up and price fluctuation will get reduced because one bulk buyer will not be able to define the faith of its price. An excessive increase in adoption at this point in time might even be a threat for the currency, because people come with unrealistic expectations that can't be fulfilled. Ideally, adoption should expand gradually, in line with technological progress. Nothing is gained from adoption if Bitcoin becomes unusable in the process or is exposed to centralized political influence because of a large group of misinformed new users.

So I think neither mass adoption or a huge price increase are really good at the present point in time. We need more technological progress in terms of capacity and privacy first. With Segregated Witness and Lightning Networks, the first aspect is currently being addressed.

i agree with these both things should run together as both are same important and needed each other. huge price increase happened already several times but look at now , there still few store accept bitcoin. mass adoption needed here. once there a lot of company adopt bitcoin it would automatically drive bitcoin price increased too.

I have voted as many others for mass adoption. Demand affects the most on bitcoin popularity. So mass adoption will be only for best for bitcoin future. I doubt that high pice is going to be good for bitcoin. High price is going to be good only for holders of big amount of bitcoins, not for bitcoin as currency.

I prefer mass adoption but i think that bitcoin network  is still not ready for mass adoption because there is very limited number of miners to verify the payment. So if mass adoption takes place then there might be very delay in payment so till then more miners should come up with improved system for faster verification.

Because as long as there are still many miners then all transactions will still keep going and so do miners they do it all because it will benefit from each transaction. So this is not an issue, so keep working and get a lot of BTC. the bad is the lack of user bitcoin, miners and therefore will destroy the growth of bitcoin

Bitcoin is not suited yet from mass adoption. If millions of users jumped  out of nowhere into bitcoin, we would have problems in terms of slow transactions and so on. It is better to stay under the radar until lightning network is operative.

I think it needs to co-relate with each other as in order for bitcoin for it to increase its price it had to have demand, For it to have demand many people must use it and allow others to be introduce with bitcoin. I also have encountered a situation myself I have experienced as I have come across a news saying that "bitcoin prices are more stable than gold" which I become curious with it and now up to this date is loving bitcoin.

I think that if there is mass adoption, there is a network effect, more people are aware of the usefulness and importance of Bitcoin, and they bring this knowledge to people who don't know about it. Im sure we need mass adoption if bitcoin price stand at this stage between 600-700 dollars its a great ammount already, if we can go anywhere and pay directly with out bitcoins wouldnt it be better? This is a two sided questions. If there masses involved every one will use it that's good, but suddenly there may be so many bitcoins that people loose interest and price crash. Secondly if price rises it will be limited to the existing one, no one would come at such prices. So I think there should be a common ground.

I think it depends on who you are asking,  investors that think about the profit does not care about the future of their investment, they are more focus on the money that they will make the moment there is a spike in price of their holdings, so probably this kind of people will thing price increase is better so they can sell and walk away.  Supporters, and users that look at bitcoin as long term usage, and have benefits with the advantages it gives would love to see mass adoption in bitcoin.  Mostly, merchants will go for this stuff since mass adoption will simply means a more stable currency and their worries of "accepting bitcoin today and might be worthless tomorrow" will be gone.

I would choose mass adoption because bitcoin will be a household term and everyone will be familiar with it which in turn many companies will use it as payment option and then eventually its price will go up because of the demand. With the huge price increase, maybe it just increase because a certain investor saw its potential and eventually buy a bulk of it but eventually there will be a market correction and its price will go down again unlike when there is mass adoption, the movement of prices will not directly affect the prices of items or products that companies will offer because bitcoin is the one being used and there is no need to convert too fiat anymore.

I will add more thought into this, as I realize if Bitcoin had mass adoption it will be good for people who use Bitcoin to buy stuff also I know the price of it will follow but not as the huge price increase it will have. On the Investor's side it will be better if Bitcoin got a huge price increase as we can sell it in a more profitable way and we know demand will also pile up after.

I think a mass adoption would be quite good; eventually the market my peak again and the price will increase so its killing two birds with one stone. Mass adoption, because how would one buy or get a bitcoin if in the first place its price is too high? Also, with mass adoption, everything else follows: development, community, support, improvements and whatnot. Aside from those things we can ensure that the currency would really perform well and might somehow be used by majority of the people in the world.

Mass adoption does not mean everybody has to be involved, a great percentage of it is all that would be necessary. Already we are seeing increase in the number of users and market capitalization has been quite progressive, those are steps in the direction of mass adoption.

Huge price increase is a function of mass adoption and the value of any coin depends on its user base, which can be seen as its acceptability. Without good enough user base - buyers and sellers, huge price may never happen and if it does, it would be transient, because there would be no basis to hold it out up there. That bitcoin have risen from few cents to hundreds of dollars is all because there is increase in the number of people demanding it.

I voted for "Huge price increase". If Bitcoin exchange rates shoot up to $10,000 per coin or $100,000 per coin, then it will attract a lot of attention. A lot of institutional investors will flock to purchase Bitcoin, and in the end the user-base will also expand. 

I would like huge price increase, that is from my personal point of view. But for mass adoption that is actualy not good because very high price is not available to wider population. If we want Bitcoin to be spread all around the world then probably mass adoption is the solution.

Yeah it needs to have mass adoption for bitcoin. In my opinion, bitcoin should be accepted by many people so that it's demand would increase and so as it's price will rise. If many would adopt bitcoin, the time of it's legalization will likely to be near. At 2017 there is a big speculation about megaupload new project, that as Kim said it will make bitcoin reach another levels, something looks we arent able to make at the moment. Actually price increase will just give some new investors a quick reminder, because they say invest when its going up. Same way the price of bitcoin would be hard to plummet to $10,000 or so, when only few people are interested in it. Investors are like butterfly, they follow the flowers. People are being attracted by the volatile nature of Bitcoin. In that matter, as long as the level of volatility stays the same, people will continue to get attracted, but also continue to stay in Bitcoin as they see it as a more than profitable investment option. Bitcoin needs the liquidity in form of fresh incoming money. That will help in getting the price to go up for the long term. Without fresh incoming money the price will slowly start to go down more and more. No one wants to see that happen.

The ecosystem can not go forward without some of these elements, but I agree that more users using and promoting the currency helps to add more value to Bitcoin. With more users, there is a market with more liquidity, which makes investors more confident in the future of Bitcoin. Mass adoption would be the clear path to a better price. Price spikes happen all the time and die down due to no real demand from traders and users of bitcoin, but mass adoption will raise price as more people want bitcoin and trade USD and other currencies into it to get Bitcoin. HODLing will also be on the rise if something like this happens, decreasing free supply, and eventually raising price. Of course this is mainly based on opinion, but a more stable price increase is always welcomed more than a quick up and down spike.

Yeah, it could be a problem waiting confirmation while you are shopping, all this time I thought it doesn't really matter as you send bitcoin mean it a sent and irreversible, but it is not until the transaction confirmed. Everything is something quite serious problem if indeed all transactions require 1 confirmation in order to be processed, but if it's not necessary then it wouldn't be a problem. I believe that mass adoption is better for bitcoin.  It ensures support and steady incline of the price since there is fixed number of Bitcoin that will be circulated in the market.  More people means more demand.  Price increase without support will do more bad than good because when the support is exhausted, price will eventually go down.

The price of bitcoin is a very important for us and if the bitcoin price will increase we will happy for that and so we cashout some of our bitcoin. Mass adoption also is need but not as much but not better cause its useless if you mean people who have authority I will that not mass adoption. So that for me the better is huge price increase cause all people now who use bitcoin waiting for an exciting huge price increase of bitcoin.

I'm for both of them, but when the mass adoption happens then there are not enough coins (at the same price) to be spread to all these people so the price of bitcoin naturally will go increasing and by this bitcoin achieves the two things, high(er) price and mass adoption.

For me Mass adoption is much more important and better for bitcoin future, Because once the community absorb it and familiarize with it the huge price increase will follows and nothing can stop it, due to the more people demand the more value increase.

Mass adoption without huge price is not usefull, I never think that bitcoin will mass adoption or replace fiat money, as best alternative investment is the best options. Until now, I still doubt that bitcoin can survive 10 years again.

when there will be too many users then it would become the  father of cryptocurrency and it will have maximum market capitalization, fortunately bitcoin has maximum market capitalization. So i prefer mass adoption. Without adoption bitcoin cannot go ahead but it will just keep rolling around like this, today it grows $30 higher and tomorrow it drops that amount again, so that wont make us reach higher if there is no adoption at all.

I hope that you put the option "BOTH" on your poll because both mass adoption and huge price increase will be better for bitcoin. If there is mass adoption, many people will know bitcoin. The same with huge price increase, many people will be interested about it and I'm pretty sure that they will put investments on bitcoin :D

For getting the answer to that question first you have to learn that how the value of bitcoin increases. It is obvious and every one know that when mass adoption occurs then the price of bitcoin increases. So they both are one thing. Whenever you see the price of bitcoin increasing then you can imagine that nowadays mass adoption is occurring.

The way I see it I prefer mass adoption instead of huge price. If bitcoin has a huge price that means nobody will not ever use it as money because will be very expensive. All of the people will use it as commodity. Moreover if bitcoin is used mainly as payment system banks and governments will be forced to be more friendly with their customers. If is not, that is anybody use it as digital gold, then banks have nothing to fear and they will continue the known way.

I prefer only mass adoption. When there will be mass adoption then rate will go up automatically because if high demand and low suppy which follows three law if market that every one knows. And when there will be mass adoption then government also will give green signal and people will have faith on it

I think so, But Im hoping that the government will accept and adopt bitcoin in a state. The people will have a faith on bitcoin and It could start a mass adoption of bitcoin. We are all hoping that government will accept bitcoin.

Don't include me in that "we" as Im not hoping for government to adopt bitcoin. I like the status of bitcoin today with just being a fair decentralized. Are you sure with your desire? Remember that if government will adopt bitcoin it will become centralized and all things that fiat is faces in terms of legal financial actions will now be applied to bitcoin now e.g tax, fees, identities etc. to ensure the security of the people.

Mass adoption can be done without government fully accepted this crypto.

You are obviously putting the cart before the horse by giving huge price increase preeminence over mass adoption. In hindsight, the price of bitcoin was peanuts, compared to what is obtainable this day and you can't miss the fact that the power behind the price increase has been more people getting to adopt Bitcoin as the capitalization also shows. Rest assured if for any reason people's interest in Bitcoin fades someday, the price of Bitcoin would come crashing like mighty waves because it is our collective interest and commitment to it that gives it value.

Again the more the adoption, the scarcer it becomes and by extension the more valuable it becomes. So don't sit down yet, go spread the news about Bitcoin, it is a win win solution for all Bitcoiners.

yes mass adoption is the best, because the price of bitcoin can increase and decrease but if the mass adoption is increasing then certainly the price the price of bitcoin will remain stable.

But to have mass adoption we need to attract huge number of people which is only possible when we are having higher prices for bitcoin. So, most of adoption will be only possible when we are having some attractive prices for bitcoins.

Yeah, one cannot work without another.. as soon as it is adopted in mass, because the BTC supply is limited the price will get higher as the demand will increase. At the same time, a high price will make even more people get attracted to Bitcoin which provokes the same effect I mentioned first. But mass adoption matters more to happen before the price increase in my opinion. The effects would be seen happening way faster than the other way.

Mass adoption off course because imagine 21m active users who have average 1BTC in a wallet are much harder to attack BTC in various ways.
With mass adoption is harder to:
-control price no massive dumps and ups BTC will be good as money
-% of scammed BTC will be less
- harder to hack btc holders so a whole economy is more stable

massive up and down attracts speculators and traders, huge jups in price are scarrying regular users.
Try convince you mother to buy BTC that will be worth 30% less in next week.
Huge jumps are bad for people in general.

I choose as mass adoption automatically the price will huge price increase. If this happen, I sure the bitcoin use will massive and replace some legal currencies.

Have you seen other countries currency being devalued against the US dollar? If bitcoins value continue to increase then many people wont even able to exchange 1 bitcoin because they need to shell out more of their currency and can make their economy in big trouble like in Venezuela. I would opt for a mass adoption of bitcoin with a very stable value so anytime I can decide to exchange bitcoin to buy a commodity using bitcoin.

Mass adoption would not mean that we can get a stable price, it's the volume against the demand, and when the volume of supply is low while the demand is high, it's still the same, investors will hoard to serve their personal interest to make themselves richer. Users does not care if how volatile the price as at the end of the day, they will just exchange it to fiat and it's done.

I think both go hand in hand and both will increase the value of bitcoin. Let us analyse why people use bitcoin? Definitely for investment because people are not fool and they will not be interested to buy something which is useless. People have seen value in bitxoin and hence they are investing in it heavily. So price increase will attract new people to adopt bitcoin and thus increase the popularity. Both will help bitcoin to reach new heights.

In fact these both things are interrelated with each other. Any activity would trigger the another activity. Suppose if suddenly 1 million people decide to join bitcoin then there will be an immidiate rise in the demand for bitcoin and hence there will be a rise in the price of bitcoin. Alternatively, if existing bitcoin users decide to acquire more bitcoins due to any news then again there will be increase in demand, increase in price and new investors will enter to make profits.

Certain things do not make much sense when considered separately, an example of this is mass adoption and price. Both are things that are correlated, since one is necessary for the other to exist. Anyway, I think adoption is something that should come first, since the price will depend on the users.

Or it could be the other way round. A businessman would be interested to acquire BTC all because of its price being valuable and because of that he then start to accepts BTC in exchange for his goods and services.  Like you said these two are related, they can't be just one.
Same effect for which ever come first, its all good for the BTC holders. A digital money which its value can double in a year, its should be attractive to anyone who wants to be in the future economy.

to me mass adoption is too much important for bitcoin future. because as more and more people will adopt bitcoin it will become more more difficult to manipulate the price of bitcoin. in past we have so many examples, when big whale were easily manipulate the price of bitcoin. therefore if the number of bitcoin users will increase bitcoin will become more and more stable, and it will become more difficult to manipulate the price of bitcoin.

Huge price increase is just for traders and people who are stacking bitcoin on their wallet , Mass adoption is far better for all of us as we can use bitcoin like fiat because adoption means services who only accepting fiat will now accept bitcoin as a payment so all of us are in a win-win situation. I personally prefer the values rather than price because price is something that won’t remain constant even in short term but value is something that increases or decreases over the period of time. Traders are concerned more about price rather than value and investors consider value rather than price. Both are important but as I said, I prefer values.

Agree. Not to mention that if many are holding small amounts of coins, then there will be no artificial pump and dumps, except if it is made by a group or during holidays that everyone needs money for their tables. Many users means sturdy bitcoin price. No more worries about overnight drop in the price.

According to me both are better because mass adoption and price increasing both are independent like if bitcoin value continue to increase then many people will not be able to exchange  bitcoin so both are better for bitcoin future.

I think mass adoption and price increase are inter related to each other we cannot expect higher price of bitcoins in future unless there is no mass adoption so adoption is the only key to success and if it happens then it will have a positive impact on the price of bitcoins.

Well if we think about it this way, what if Bitcoin's price is greater than Gold? Of course the possibility of it having a nedia coverage is big because it has beaten gold in the market than it will be popular to new people. For me we old Bitcoin users will have the advantage of having a huge price increase, we will instantly profit from it because we now know its movement.

Media are avoiding talk about bitcoin, sure visa, mastercard and others companies are paying some fee to let bitcoin hidden, the thing is there is no way to control or stop bitcoin, crypto world is getting a big space at online top websites, its a question of time till bitcoin boom into the news, and countries be forced to recognize bitcoin as currencie. We need now both of those, but sure mass adoption would be better since it would represent bigger volume, and more transactions, making the coin more popular.
