Title: Bitcoin price?
Post by: PeRo on September 22, 2016, 08:02:59 PM
What is happening with the price? I was not active here or watching the price for the last week- or two. It is still less than 600$, and it was around 600$ twoo weeks ago. Did it go up or down, or was it holding still the whole time? I hope I did not miss anything.

A basic google search would get you a bitcoin price trend for the last 2 weeks,  they are saying that the next move could be to the 800's.  hope they are right

It's true that the price recently has changed (not for good) but I haven't found any reason that affected the bitcoin price recently, I can only say that people are not holding they bitcoin because there are many sources where to invest them and maybe they are moving the funds.

Losing five or ten dollars is not a huge deal.
I know all investors want the price to keep going up, but maybe the days of getting rich off bitcoin are over.
All we can hope for is a stable price and maybe a steady, modest increase.

it's been fluctuating in a tight range. A small drop to the $590's is to be expected. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a bigger drop, but it will go back up eventually.

Yes the price is tanking very hard now.
I was shocked myself when i checked last night and haven't checked it in the last two days because it looked pretty stable above $610 for the last few weeks.
Now I am regretting buying so much last weekend and losing so much in the process. :'(

price always fluctuates, especially bitcoin price that is so volatile. and these small changes which are lower than 10-20 dollars is nothing to even think about if you go away for this long and not a regular trader.

You didn't missed something unusual. There's no much movement of the price up to today so anyone can consider this price behaviour to accumulate again some precious coins.

Weekly high reached around $609 and few days later it was back again at the correction* of price which is around $600.

I think this is normal with bitcoin. I will be more worried if the price is not moving at all. I think it is building steam for a bigger push too. It has been a while at this range. Maybe we can see 700 by next month ends.

Nothing big happened with the price bro.
We went a bit up and then we went a bit down.
The market is pretty quiet at the moment.
Maybe the calm before another storm. Sooner or later we will again see some bigger movements, in one or the other direction.
At the moment it is more than enough to check the price once or twice the week.

so did you see the price down much? not, am i right. you can't hope the price always rise on the market sometimes the price would down for a while then the price would rise again. just take the advantage of this.

you should be thankful the price goes down for its going to be time to buy. Bitcoin price goes up so just keep holding.
The only time you may want to sell your btc is if you badly needed the money, if not just keep holding it for in the next year, its value will once again increase.

Go through market chart either in markets.blockchain.info or any bitcoin trading site you can get nice picture of price fluctuation over last two weeks. I was checking market daily till now and haven't seen much dump/pump except little dump on price in last two days or so.

You dont have  to ask here directly since you could first  do search it  on google. There are lots  of charts you could see about on the  bitcoin price movement of bitcoin in previous weeks. There are really people  dont  like  to use search features  here  in internet world. :P

yesterday the rate is on $595 and now the rate is on $604-$606, and i think this week, the rate will be increase but not too much, is like about $610 or somewhere in that range but its only raw prediction, no one know how much will increase or even how much to get down.

My feeling is that the price will keep moving in the well known $590-$620 regions for a few more weeks. Perhaps even longer since I don't expect the price to reach $700 this year anymore. At some point some market action have to pop up, otherwise we'll see people getting bored and start dumping as result.

because you aren't active to see the price then you had missed the highest price for this month but don't be worry because i think this price movement is still normal for me even the current price $600 below but that's not really low but in the several exchange the price has already reach again to $600

Why are you surprised? It is very stable since bitfinex. It used to be 620$ for a while but now it is 600$. No big deal. It nothing to be worry about. We have a very strong support around 590-600$ and even finex couldn't break it. Unless some big country bans bitcoin, we are fine.

I agree with you . after the incident to bitfinex bitcoin prices to decline and are currently very stable. bitfinex give a tremendous impact on the price of bitcoin today. probably needs to be a great thing to go back to change the price of bitcoin.

Recent slight drop is considered as market consolidation. Disregard news about global economy, bitcoin will be great again.
For now we might be able to buy last BTC before price will regain upward trend again.

I guess at that time bitcoin prices are down, but within two weeks of bitcoin prices rose to $ 600 more. I guess you did not miss anything, because the price of bitcoin only up to $ 600 over and over, so I guess you're still in luck. however, in the near future bitcoin prices will surely rise higher so we just have to prepare for it

Bitcoin will go up and down that is just how bitcoin is going and working. It's now shame we now are waiting for a high rise since the price touched 750 dollars and then did go back ot 600.
Now it is fighting for it's 600 dollar mark. But i think the prices stays strong above this mark.

It has been low since 3 weeks and fluctuating between $590-$615 and there hasn't been any changes. As you say it was $600 2 weeks ago, it just increased to $611 last week and then again dropped. I am still holding for sometime and sell the bitcoins as I really don't feel it may reach $650 anytime soon.

Yes but at least the volatility is going down so that is a welcome occurrence right now. We as holders can relax and plan our next steps. I can see the price to go down below $600 and stay there for a while and quite possibly until the end of they year. The only move which I think is best is to buy the dips in price because it cannot stay this low forever as I believe that long term potential value of Bitcoin has not been reached yet. That could be seen maybe during the next financial crisis I believe.

Correct, this is  just a normal thing for bitcoin which  its price do  fall and rise and  even  on idle as  we observe in these  pas few weeks. Same as he said no one really knows on what would  be the  price in next minute, hours, day, weeks and so on.  If you are doing trading then you must watch on prices  more often.

Indeed it is now is the time may be right to buy bitcoin and save it. But we won't know what will happen in the future, because the bitcoin is a technology that is quite remarkable. But its definitely going to be something that will be left when there is far more competition to master the emotions of the user bitcoin. Trading is indeed the better thing to do, because it can give us an idea against future bitcoin

It's normal indeed, bitcoin has been a very volatile since the last years and this kind of price fluctuations in a day is nothing new. What is new or interesting at least is to see where the price will go the coming weeks. Will we hold 600 or back to 500?

I would welcome a drop to $500 or the lower $500's. I actually am hoping and wishing for it because with Bitcoin a drop in price should be looked at as an opportunity to buy more coins at bargain prices. It has proven to be a good investment and with still a lot of potential for growth. Some do not believe a $10,000 per BTC price but I do and it makes sense. It is the only way for Bitcoin to lower its volatility percentage-wise.

So you believe that cheap bitcoin is the key and also you want price to reach $10 000? Isn't it a bit contradictory. It is true that more people will be able to buy BTC this way.
But do you really think that this will be game changing opportunity for people? It is better to have stable price for once. It will show people that BTC could be FIAT replacement.

And thats the beauty of bitcoin for traders im sure many people are earning for that movy flactuation, and bitcoins is like a waves in the ocean its goes down and expected to be up and for that price we see today is bitcoins stable price and provably we can see little pump since many people are wanting to buy some btc just to stake for themselves and use it for investments, but for now we should enjoy this price since possibly the 600$ mark will go down provably if bad matters will occur.

speaking of the long term, the usual expectation is always a price rise rather than anything else.
so in a couple of months it is considered a long term so the price should be higher than this.

but also at the same time it is always hard to speculate about bitcoin so nobody knows :)

What is happening with the price? I was not active here or watching the price for the last week- or two. It is still less than 600$, and it was around 600$ twoo weeks ago. Did it go up or down, or was it holding still the whole time? I hope I did not miss anything.
A market that's stable shouldn't make you panic. In fact, it shouldn't bother you at all. A stable market basically has an almost equal buy and sell force. There are still movements going on, but no major movements. We stayed a long time at a price range lower than this, I'm sure that most of us could wait a little longer for some profit in the future.

Please reread my post again, I said I would welcome a drop to $500 because I would see it as an opportunity to buy more at a bargain. Bitcoin to $10,000 is in a very different sentence entirely. I only expressed that it would reduce the volatility of Bitcoin in percentage. Imagine a $100 - $200 swing if the price per coin is $10,000. It will be on the low side compared to the current price of Bitcoin at $600. Do you get the point?

The price of the bitcoin is now around the 600 dollar and he keeps repeeting that because i know what the price of the bitcoin will do you know there are so many people who dont give a F about the price.

who don't give a fuck about it? the price is very important, it give a value to the coin, investors invest only based on the price and trader only care about it, low price here mean bitcoin is death and high price mean miner can make it alive, so it's very important

Right, the price last year at the same month is just half the price of today. And the months before that, it is way lower and it stayed that way much much longer. Those who have the patient to hold really got their profit when the price spike during November. And I hope it could happen again this year.

Bitcoin was was going sideways before the Bitfinex hack occured and there is no hype or good news at present to cause the whales and traders to start pumping it. So Bitcoin at $800 would still not happen. Maybe it would try to move past $680 - $700 range but that would be it. It will still be under $700 even if the hack did not occur. Of course it just my humble opinion because I am no expert and I am only using the past price movements as basis to make a simple analysis.

Bitcoin would maybe be around $750 if we had the same market movements minus the Bitfinex hack, and assuming the Bitfinex hack never happened. To be honest though we might be sitting around the low $700s at best, and probably somewhere in the high $600s, since I don't think the market would be interested in pushing the value $150 from a low $600s position beforehand.

I agree with another poster regarding the downtrend from before the bitfinex incident. The price in fact was on the way down below $600 even before the hacking occured. If anything, that incident just hastened the plummet. The price has somehow recovered back to the $600, albeit being rather unstable. The last few weeks have been pretty slow compared to the weeks leading to the halving and the Brexit vote where the price surged from mid $400s to almost $800.

Yup. Compared to few months back, the price is stable and worth though. This is a good sign of its growth in its values. Hope to have a good hike in price in the upcoming months. If this in case does not occur, the current stability would be more appreciated. Many focus on buying more bitcoins now and save them for future. The growth of bitcoin is stronger and its reaching every corner of the world. Many are pitching into this forum and focus on earning bitcoins.

It's still fluctuating like the usual. Sometimes it is too low and sometimes it is just fine. I think this is just normal because maybe this is a sign that bitcoin's price will be go high up in the sky again like a sky rocket. Let's just wait 'till it happens. I'm sure everyone will make a huge profit from it. It is worth the wait though than to use it in gambling which can just make your bitcoin disappear and all of your efforts just to earn those bitcoin will just ended up in nothing.

$600+ is absolutely huge, especially when it can be maintained when you compare it to the historical prices, and it is MASSIVE when you compare it to the past year and some. Considering where we have been sitting recently and having big swings back and forth from $600, I'm glad it has slowed down a bit and isn't moving constantly anymore.

The abrupt price drop which started on July, 30 just two or three days prior to the Bitfinex hack might well be the hackers themselves and those "in the know" massively shorting/selling bitcoins across the markets. After an obvious attempt at igniting a panic selling when the price plummeted down to $465 for a few moments, there was a strong rebound soon afterwards, when it became abundantly clear that this attempt had ultimately failed...

And now we are essentially trying to get back to the pre-hack price levels

Price is pretty good if we consider how many bitcoins was stolen this summer from Bitfinex, from comments here I see they are back in business and they trying to fix things, trying to regain the trust they lost.
Holding on 600 $ is fine for me, I also read about segwit. Some members are very happy cause of that, they think this can push price up very high. I don`t know much about it, I think soon we will know more. On bitcoin core they say Segregated witness (segwit) is approaching release.
I think that can mean in next couple months.

Bitcoin's price is always like the usual which is fluctuating. There are times that it is just fine and sometimes it is really low, that's why miners nowadays stopped mining because of this, they are not getting anymore profit for it. But we all know that it's price will be that high again and all we have to do is save our bitcoins and grow it more for that we can make huge profits if it's price is gonna go sky high.

yeah it has definitely hold strong, but you need to factor a loss of $50-70 from previous value which was near $700, before the dumping for the stolen coin, so we still need to return back from where we were, and sadly segwit need to be activated, not just released, so it will take a very long time

What is happening with the price? I was not active here or watching the price for the last week- or two. It is still less than 600$, and it was around 600$ twoo weeks ago. Did it go up or down, or was it holding still the whole time? I hope I did not miss anything.

It's true that the price recently has changed (not for good) but I haven't found any reason that affected the bitcoin price recently, I can only say that people are not holding they bitcoin because there are many sources where to invest them and maybe they are moving the funds.
The price of the bitcoin right now is aroung the 600 dollar adn that is for allong time right now i hope he is going to rise a bit at the end of this year but i dont see the rising coming?

i think for this week, the price of bitcoin is up for a little movement because in last week, the price of bitcoin is somewhere in $609 and now the price is up until $616 and its a good price to selling bitcoin to get profit although it was small profit.

but for me, i think i will wait for a moment to make sure the rate is still up for next week and for waiting for next price, i am make trading btc pair altcoin to make another profit in bitcoin.

After few fluctuations, price of bitcoin is getting stabilized around $613. This might get continued for few weeks as the circulation has been stable as most users were holding bitcoins for big bump. Possibly this seems to be a good time to grab some profit for the traders.
prices are stable and there was no change over the past few days. the market is shown being deserted and traders are still afraid to make a purchase and sale bitcoin. we are all in difficult conditions to choose.

If it does not rise in 2016 anymore then somethings has to be happening in 2017.

I think the price is stable so that it stock in 600$ but we do not know what happen next so keep on watching in bitcoin. And earn bitcoin also to wait bitcoin rise up. Once bitcoin goes up hope you can not miss it for you to get profit.
yes that is right to say i think we should wait for the price increase and should not invest money any where else, as it is expecting that the price of bitcoin will increase so much therefore we cannot afford to lost the opportunity.

As of now  we should  save more bitcoin to gain profits long term.

I am excited how the price will be this weekend as it tends to dictate how the price moves the whole week. I am seeing a bit of an uptrend right now, however small. But there are finally some movements after a long while. If the $620 is broken this weekend, a lot of things could happen in the coming weeks.

Yes that's what people expecting with the price of bitcoin in every last month in every year and just like now the price continue increasing, and let's hope that it will continue until December. But I don't really think that it will increase high because as long the price increase people sell their coins and the price will decrease again or become stable.

Bitcoin price is still the same and nothing happens when the weeks past and we really seeing it everyday on the market that there are always buy and sell happened and thats the reason why the bitcoin price are range into 600$ dollars and up and thats the reason why the price of bitcoin is  stable right now

I predict price to hit $650-700 by the end of the year.
Maybe that is just wishful thinking, but everything has been stable for so long, I see no reason for a drop.
If you have any free money, now might be a good time to buy a couple coins.

I can see that too, if you look at the chart, there is some uptrend price of Bitcoin until the end of this year.  So I think that Bitcoin will hit sub 800  USDaftr this year for regular basis.  If there is great news for bitcoin, then it maybe goes to sub 900 USD.  I hope that there is no bad press happen so the uptrend will stay as is until the end of the year.

Bitcoin price fluctuate all the time, some people find it strange, but I get use to it. I follow news and looks like there is always some reason why is price going up or why is price dropping. What is happening with bitcoin? Well many things, all the time! That is reason why price is not stable.
Good things, bad things, you name it. And bitcoin is not strong enough to handle all news, so all this news have effect on price. We need to wait a lot for bitcoin to be stable currency. Stability will come one day, bitcoin need become more stronger for that.

I think the price will easily rise from here. Why?

- New innovations are being enabled in the production network.
- Legislation-related stuff seems stable (e.g. we've not seen new attempts of BitLicense etc.)
- The competitors (if there ever were such) are failing. This means that Bitcoin is more and more strengthening its "Internet Gold" value.
- Bank problems, e.g. Deutsche Bank. If bail-outs happen, who pays? Who prints the money, and what sort of money, this time?
- The block reward halved just a few months ago. Still we've seen increase in mining difficulty, which means there's more mining power than ever in the network.

Also, it seems like more and more people are realizing that Bitcoin is primarily a solution to get monetary sovereignty. People must understand why Bitcoin exists and what it achieves, and what is required to keep it good.

Strictly speaking, waiting patiently seems to be an impossible thing in and of itself. Patience as such is not so much about waiting as having other interesting things to do instead. In other words, you wouldn't care so much about Bitcoin price and when it will start to move if you had something else worth caring. That's the key to being patient in any affair or activity...

It's not impossible at all. In my case, if the price doesn't show some sort of action, as has been the case very recently, I don't look out for something else to compensate for what Bitcoin "has not been able to offer" me. A lot people here are somewhat addicted to price movements on a very regular basis, that if they don't get what they are looking for, they try to find it elsewhere. Exactly that was my point.

This next movement could be due to the halving finally taking effect, fewer coins available on exchanges due to the miners block reward halving could = a nice price rise.

I think not at the current movement. It's still better if the price will slowly rise rather than a sudden rise.

A price rally is on fast mode and not on a slow price like this so the price increase rally isn't started yet.

After a long period of dormancy and very little movements, we are finally seeing some increase. Could this be the start of the last quarter surge? I hope this can be sustained and I hope it doesn't climb up too fast too soon, much like what happened before the halving event.

I think not at the current movement. It's still better if the price will slowly rise rather than a sudden rise.

A price rally is on fast mode and not on a slow price like this so the price increase rally isn't started yet.
This is just a normal price increase this is happening every month so i think the price right now is normal.. we are still not experience to that the price will hit again back to the 700 level..

It will take time to recover after the hack it's not manipulation but only market reaction to hackers in case they dump but now we can see price rising again $620/$630 and we'll see more rise over the next month or so hopefully.

This next movement could be due to the halving finally taking effect, fewer coins available on exchanges due to the miners block reward halving could = a nice price rise.
So it took three months for the halving effect to take place. Sheesh! ::)

Edit: I meant to the starting of the halving process not the actual beginning of it's effects, sorry for this misconception by me.

Are you sick? Halving effect already take placed the moment it occurs.

So you are only basing for the bitcoin price as what should be the main result of the recent halving? You need some good learning here mate.

I would say don't let us get too excited for now!
In the past we've seen smaller bumps often and after that nothing big has happened.
But the longer the bollinger bands get squeezed the more likely is another breakout.
The question however is in which direction?! Let's hope for the right one.The overall picture looks bullish so far.

The current bitcoin market price is much far for $700. It needs to climb another $65 to reach $700.
I think we might see $700 this month.

That is what I'm speculating too.  After the bitcoin correction price of bitcoin must move up since there is no bad press that happen.  In addition to that, there is some patch that was implemented to bitcoin to make it ready for the future update.  That info is enough to make 700 USD a new floor for bitcoin.

Bitcoin's price was stable between 550$ to 600$ for the last few months but now price will start increasing so I must say that we see the price at 700$ till the end of this month. Price is almost 640$ and 60$ dollar remains to reach 700$ so it will reach that target very soon.

bitcoin prices would soon increase, but we do not know exactly when prices will rise. we need to do is collect bitcoin by trading or investment, so we could help bitcoin price increases, although only slightly. Well, it's useless if the price rises with a high bitcoin but at that moment you do not have bitcoin

The bitcoin price is flucatuating heavily because a lot of random stuff is happening for example investors dump a lot of fiat in bitcoin or they dump their bitcoin and that affects price by a lot.
Right now it is going up so I can only imagine that a lot of fiat is being dumped in bitcoin.

Lets start either investing, buying, saving and earning more btc to experience a good profit. Will happen believe it. Number of people aware of BTC also grown up. The benefits has attracted many into this forum. Many are really happy with their earnings like me.

What is happening with the price? I was not active here or watching the price for the last week- or two. It is still less than 600$, and it was around 600$ twoo weeks ago. Did it go up or down, or was it holding still the whole time? I hope I did not miss anything.
It's because of pumping happening and stocked of investors there are playing with the price that's why bitcoin price still stock but there are changes happening in bitcoin if you can see there are big changes bitcoin price increase into +5$ or more depends on that investors going to do and traders also.

The price has started to raise now. It has reached almost $640 now. This is really a good sign of its growth. Hope that it continues. If this in case does not occur, the current situation would be more appreciated. Many have started to sell to see a good return and some still focus on buying more bitcoins now and save them for future. Many have signed up.

the price going up doesn't mean there is a lot money coming into bitcoin. it's a team effort by a group of very wealthy whales that are constantly manipulating the price from various exchanges. it's a team effort. they eat entire loaves of bread, while we as normal traders pick up the crumbs left by them.

it makes sense. bitcoin prices may be influenced by influential people. they are free to pump and dump. but the person who did it must have a lot of money.

probably 700 USD is the price too much. for me, the price movement bitcoin will only until the number 670USD.
it has become a good price and also increased by 50 USD for one month.

yes and in fact the price was to cross 700$ very soon after the halving but the bitfinex hacking issue really effect the price of bitcoin otherwise it will already be trading above 800$. but still it is expecting that the price will cross 700$ level very soon.

Its a good thing if the bitcoin market price remains stable because it will help more merchants to accept bitcoin which will increase the price.

I also think that. because when more people accept bitcoin in a business then bitcoin will be even greater.
some even more people will feel the impact of the rise in the price of bitcoin.

Yeah it will have to get bigger because people will be buying bitcoins to be able to spend them on stuff instead of selling them when the price is higher than they bought.

The stability of Bitcoin price is actually a good thing but I see it as something that is of a short term and won't be at that price for long for it to be fully integrated for acceptance by merchants because for something to be accepted by merchants as currency then the stability should be guaranteed to have merited the infrastructures that will be put in place for such integration or else it will need re-updating regularly which will be cost consuming to the business

More adoption is needed and more merchants need to be accepted bitcoin as payment before we can see more price increase., if this following year if more business will release that can get all our needs without going to other currency online bitcoin will be more popular and more people can use bitcoin that they dont need to verify any credit cards just like in paypal..

I think there is no stability for the price of bitcoin because bitcoin is unpredictable and the price is always changing day by day just like yesterday the price is 637 according to preev price and now the price is 640 according preev price.. so there is no stability for bitcoin its always depends in supply and demand..
