Read that MTGox are about to add Litecoin to their exchange - its half the reason that Litecoin is going through the roof today.

Can anyone confirm if this is true?

With MTGox support, Litecoin could go from $1 to over $20 practically overnight! :)

The Jews are raking in the Cash and they still won't update the servers for BTC transactions,even though we have massive lag which has caused a minor crash recently.
Yet we're getting excited over the support for lite coin on already taxed servers?

It's a completely different market, they could use a different server.

This would be a really nasty April fools joke!

If this is an April fools joke it will backfire on whoever did it unless they make it real as markets appear to be moving in a big way based on this information.

I don't see the official announcement at Mt.Gox's site though despite the claims. Only link is the ticker data though.

Someone has clearly added these tickers at MtGox, if an incorrect pair is used you get an error :

This will be huge if (more likely when) it happens.

Why would mt.gox not want to cash in on a new emerging market which does not even need much new R&D to implement into there already existing system?

I sent them an e-mail. They told me that they will discuss it. Nothing more nothing less

I also makes sense as alot of people will but cheaper coins for the 'doubling up factor'.

Litecoin can double in value three times and still be lower than $10 each, the same can't be said for Bitcoin.

So you can't get rid of this prediction tomorrow  ;)

I just got a reply from Mt.Gox_Support_Natalie: "There are plans to implement other crypto-currencies in the future, however none of these are currently confirmed. Thank you for your interest in our business."

Translation; "We don't own enough LTC yet and we don't want to drive up the price before we're ready."   ;D

What does that even mean?

That they will not confirm on deny that allegation.

Basically, that is a confirmation. If they had no intention of adding LTC then:
- They would deny it
- There would not be a ticker with LTC info behind the scenes
- They would be ignoring a large potential profit due to LTC's growing volume.

I think this is legit the more I think about it, however, I cannot estimate a LTC addition timeframe.

I think MtGox is swamped enough as it is, I don't think they'd take time to add LTC tickers just as a 1st of April joke.

The Gox crew has a lot of stuff to do - but Mark has said himself that litecoin will be added 'eventually'. They've also said it will be added this month - I guess it depends a lot on what they have to do, and what they prioritize.

I love that posters are citing btc-e, reddit, and irc like it's the NYT.

BTW, it took BTC-E a single day to add two new cryptos. PPC and TRC.

What is Mt. Goxs' issue?  I don't see how it could be that hard to implement LTC when they said they will.  Mt. Gox and Magical Tux show more and more incompetence every single day.

It sure is possible to do it quickly in one day - but to do it properly and to consider the pro's and con's more closely, you need more time. Also Gox is swamped with all kinds of requests and work. If it comes, it will take some time.

Really?  Because trading ppc and trc is easy and hasn't messed up once since btc-e has implemented it.

Screw their requests.  They made a statement to announce more on ltc and they haven't.  Trading should be their main concern.  I can't trade ltc therefore their site is worthless to me.

Mt. Gox can't see the forest for the trees.  They make tons of money in fees and can't hire more people or get anything functioning?  I believe that is called as I've already stated, incompetence.

You're always free to use other exchanges, or start one yourself. Then you will learn it is a lot of work.

You know nothing about running an exchange. Or how to read. BTC-E tool 1 week after announcing they were gonna support ppc not 1 day (more like 5 to be exact). Mt gox said they will make an announcement THIS WEEK. Until Friday has past, they haven't failed that engagement...

Yeah I would love to see litecoins and namecoins on Gox. This would mature the marketplace buy letting people Arb markets in and out of blockchains instead of USD. this is very good for the crypto currency movement as a whole.

8.5M$ traded yesterday, why on earth Mt Gox would miss a part of this cake ?

They also added that rockwell company. Interesting if they spoke to mtgox about it or just did it on their own merit...

To trade LTC is their intention I am sure ...but they will not announce until they have issues resolved.
