While creating this topic, bitcoin is standing at 618 USD. So I want to know your prediction for the year of 2017. What is the milestone you have targeted?

Will it be able to hold its strength at 750 USD by the end of 2017? Voice your opinions.

I think Bitcoin will continue to rise slowly in 2017, may be it will reach 800$ at least by end 2017. The price is pretty stable now, and we predict it will rise again after some weeks.

there are two things that might happen between now and the end of 2017 - some scaling finally and an etf. both of them might be game changers. if neither arrive then I think it's gonna more of the same. sideways with the occasional blip up and down.

In my opinion, the price will continue rising in 2017, and may be it will reach more than 1000$ in this year, if it still rising like nowadays.

I predict that in 2017 the Bitcoin price is going to reach $1000 for sure it has to happen, I thought that it was going to happen with in 2016 but I guess that I was wrong.

Nothing big will happen in 2017 regarding the price. There will be pump and dump like always, maybe in some period price will go to 700 but I don't think that we can reach 1000. At the moment nothing aims to that.

I looked at my crystal balls this morning, and I saw a Bitcoin price of between $800 to $850 for the end of December. ^joke^ We cannot make any predictions, because we have nothing to work with. Nobody is promising any significant release of upgrades of any importance and we know of no scandal that might erupt before the end of this year.

So we are basically sucking predictions out of out ass, with this one. Let's hope the LN will be done by the end of this year or we will see some killer Bitcoin APP being released, to bump the price to $1000 and beyond!

I think price can actually reach $700+ within end of this year or even by end of this month. So it is quite sure bitcoin will start next year well above $700 price and may be we even see new ATH price by end of next year (2017).

I am not sure what is going to happen with in 2017 and with Bitcoin but I hope that the Bitcoin can finally reach $1000 because that is what I have been waiting for.

I think that 750 is a decent price that Bitcoin will probably be able to reach, in my opinion it will go even higher than that though, like around 850-900 dollars.

Well i have a feeling that we will see a rate of $1,200 or above in the year of 2017 as we can see the price has already started growing with a stable nature which is really good because if it grows suddenly then it wont take much time to drop down again, and when you posted this the price was $618 while right now it is $640 or near that, so we are slowly growing towards out targets i feel.

I think the minimum price that we will see next year would be above $700 at least because of the over all rise that has been going on, starting from last year it has been only rising up and with a steady rate. and if this rate continues on we will surely see a nice rise throughout this year and the next leading to $700+

Price may become stable at $1000 if price reach that level and i think it will happen by 2017 so during end of next year price may be at around $1000.

i'd like to look at the past when i am talking about the future. i do this by looking at the charts with 1 day intervals and showing a year or more in one chart.

if you take a look at this chart you can see clearly that bitcoin is on a very good path and the price has been rising pretty nicely.
so my prediction for next year is at least $200 more than the current price which would be somewhere around $800 ish.

Bitcoin have 3 possible movements that will happen to it's price until the start of 2017. The price may be still stable in the price range now by 2017. It is also possible that the price by the start of 2017 is 800$ or above most probably will happen if it continues to rise. The last possibility is that the price will dump slightly or greatly below 550$ that is most probably to happen if there will be a big price rise before the end of 2016.

Ye definitely price of bitcoin would cross $750 dollars by the end of 2017.I even hope that it would come near $1000 dollars by the end of 2017.If Bitfinex had not happened, surely, at this time price would have been $1000

I hope that 2017 is going to bring was what we needed because 2016 has nor been a great year for the Bitcoin so it was a real led down. I hope that 2017 can turn it around because many people left because 2016 and now Bitcoin has to redeem it self.
If 2017 is not going to be good then I also might leave and quit Bitcoin for ever.

I am optimistic about the price, I think it will boost even before the beginning of 2017, we watch now that Bitcoin price started to increase, and Bitcoin is being adopted from many companies, in general Blockchain technology is going to change the financial deals for better, but the only challenge for Bitcoin now is the security issues.

Im not going to predict a fiat price as that belongs in speculation but i think we will see further declines of fiat vs any other decent assets.  It all makes more sense to me now how weak fiat is, im using it as a transition token only not a store of value.

I don't think security of bitcoin is a that big issue as it has been secure until now from the launch and nothing could do anything worse with it, and maybe in future it would still be more secure and then it would be even stronger than now.

Well I don't mind if the price will thoroughly increase next year or even this year as long as it will not goes down below $600 since we can considered this range of price now as a bottom like what happen in the range of $250-$299 that lasted for almost half a year. What a fail if we go back again at below $500.

I think it will be the following
1) Now will catch up with the course, popularizing bitcoin. Capacity grow. Course due to the massive buying will grow. The owners of large amounts of bitcoins cashing in on the growing rate
2) Then they'll just bring down the market, buying the most and repeat the cycle.

I don't mean Bitcoin itself, I mean the security of the companies which adopt Bitcoin, and there were several hacking operations targeted Mt Gox, Cryptsy, and Bitfinex,  so when a company decide to adopt Bitcoin, it will be targeted from hackers as much as the Bitcoin they store.

My prediction and view when it comes of year 2017 bitcoin will be more reliable and it will be targeted the maximum price for this year as i can see and the graph of bitcoin the patern it will make us portable when the price of bitcoin is increasing hope this will not fall apart.

But, I strongly believe bitcoin will be increasing toward $1000 price levels before end of this year. There are many supporting events around bitcoin ecosystem keep on happening, few of them must be slow economical growth in many European countries and USA presidential elections. People will search for alternative investments for their own reasons, bitcoin may answer them with a perfect solution.

I was already predicting that the end of the year at least the price will increase around 700-800. but 750 seems realistic.
I have held, because I think it will be the same as the previous year. every the end of the year is always an increase in price.

It will surely be holding that price except something bad happens and some hackers or even "exchanges" or big dogs want to dump their coins on us...
I think we might even see a new ATH this January, 2k17 because my instinct says that history is going to repeat itself this time...

Your prediction is too much lower as I think it will be increased to a much higher value in the end of 2017 as in that time the crowd will be increased much higher and more demand will be there for bitcoin.

At January i do expect bitcoin to be around 700 dollars and stable, i do expect bitcoin to grow a bit more if megaupload projects goes live, those should impact bitcoin value.

We have wars since we fight with swords(or hands), and for years global spends on military is ~1trillion, bitcoin marketcap is just 10billion... you can spend all bitcoin supply and can't beat USA, they can win 5 wars alone vs the world. lol, only education can raise the price of bitcoin, otherwise none will know the blockchain benefits.

You're missing the bigger picture, the chaos brewing is on a whole new level.

The chaos is brewing on a ton of levels. Economic troubles are afoot, the US is starting to tangle with Russia in the middle east and that's turning into a shitshow, they're threatening each other and the nuclear sabers are rattling away. Hillary v. Trump is coming up, and this means that we're going to see two very different concepts of foreign policy becoming apparent. This could also determine where relations with Russia/America go, and very quickly.

I more optimistic in last this year will cross $700, in new year of 2017 will touch $750, middle 2017 touch $800 and touch $850 in last year. I recommend to buy bitcoin now and get profit more than 15% only a year again

I think bitcoin will become better in 2017, after the halving in 2016 the price has been better and more stable and now the price is around 600$ and in the 2017 I predict it will pass 750$, bitcoin is going to rise slowly and it's going to be used in many store in 2017, this is what i thought

We're probably going to see Bitcoin slowly drifting upwards, coupled with a decent userbase increase if the economy starts going south, but more than likely not a whole lot more than that. The market is looking quite perky over the past week, so that might factor in if the energy keeps going into 2017.

The price has already reached around $650 by now and if it continued then we will surely see it touching $750 by the end of this year and then in 2017 we will see a way better price then what we have been expecting.

I think the price will be on 650 - 700 maybe even higher because china still buying tons of bitcoins everyday, more options for debit cards on bitcoin, and maybe you will see some regulations on bitcoin by goverments on taxes.

well, i think bitcoin's price will reach at least 760 US dollar by the end of 2016. There are many impact which make bitcoin's price increase, in my opinion. First of all is Brexit. Second, Chinese investors will make a lot of effects in the end of this year. Finally, bitcoin is getting more and more popular.

The bitcoin's price will going down after halving block, in my analysis will be started on November this year up to 2017. The reason is we could saw last halving block and bitcoin's price went down. And The other reason History will repeat itself.

I predict the price will be around 670-680 in about 12 months. Thats the numbers I use for planning my investments at least.

I assume you are taking up a loan and buying bitcoins? If you really believe the price will increase 32% in a couple of months, thats a no-brainer..

If someone could assure me I would definitely take a loan from the bank and buy bitcoins now, banks do offers loan to me like 1% per month so that would be a great profit for me if I can loan the maximum amount allowed, just tell and I will do it.LOL

i assure you that this will definitely happen but i also advise you not to take loan to invest in bitcoin if you are not a trader. it is as they always say a wrong move, because you should only invest what you can afford to lose. even if the price goes up there is still the risk of getting hacked or losing the private keys and losing all the money you loaned.

I predict that with in 2017 the Bitcoin price is finally going to reach the thousands is what i believe. I thought that it was going to happen with in 2016 but it did not.

I think bitcoin price will be around as what you predict.  Bitcoin price will be around $650 to $750 because correction phase is finish and bitcoin price without bad press will continuously increase in price.  Many merchants is getting interested each day, and some of them are opening their hands to accept bitcoin as a mode of payment. With this scenario, I think bitcoin price will increase up to $750.

This year has made a good difference and although we have witness a bad press regarding the hacking incident of one of the exchange sites but it was not that serious, as the price fall back was temporary and we are back up now, bitcoin is increasing and will be progressive for the year 2017.

We're close to see the price hit $1000 but we don't know for sure when it will happen and today is the last day of the year, could it be possible? Not really. Bitcoin is subject to constant growth of its users and thus will experience far better years than 2017 will offer. Especially when you consider that at this point institutional investors yet have to find a way to enter the Bitcoin world with multi millions. They need a professional platform capable of handling serious amounts of money. They won't send millions to the current incompetent exchanges with all their flaws and untrustworthiness. I can't blame them for that.

Here's my prediction about bitcoin on the coming 2017. It will dump days after new year and especially after chinese new year and it might touch again the prices of 400$ or even lower. It will then stabilize to a price where even if the reward block is halved it will still be profitable for the miners. It might be around 500$-750$ to where it will stabilize. This is just a prediction but the chance of it happening is not that slim.  :)

Well your prediction is not at what you've say there mate bitcoin now is suffering decreasing it price i know it very awful but we need to accept that investors who hold thousand of bitcoin start dumping bitcoin. I guess Trump's new economic policies will boost alternate investments to shine. After the new government in United States, I believe the Centre power of bitcoin will be moving from China into the United States. The economical and political reformation by Trump is expected to support alternate investments like bitcoin and gold.

I guess 2017 is another bitcoin rally, we may see some dips today and it is normal.  We have seen bitcoin going up and down, but the fact that the lowest price it can go dip is higher than the lowest last year state that there is more adoption and more people are coming in to buy bitcoin.  At the current price, bitcoin seems recovering going back to $800+.  I can believe bitcoin will be around $1500 at the end of 2017 as what other veteran in bitcoin trading said.

We should really look at the holidays that will come or events because bitcoin is most used with this days. Look what happened after the holidays in December. We can't really say what might happen. A lot of things can happen even in just a small span of time.. Like when Trump won. Nobody expected that. But of course, bitcoin might go up to 800 to 1000 if circumstances are amiable.  So let's hope and pray that things will go well for bitcoin.

I don't think this year will be anything special (at least for bitcoin anyway). The price will likely fluctuate, by the end of the year, I think it will probably settle above $1100 (maybe $1200 if optimistic)? It would be very interesting if altcoins did well this year, in particular I have my eye on Monero; if it surges this year like it did in 2016, then competition to Bitcoin will increase greatly. On a side note, if Ethereum Classic does not go up this year, I don't think it will have a future.

This was not the first time this year that bad news came from China, and it will probably not be the last. The important thing is that such a FUD had a temporary effect on price, and Bitcoin has recovered very well, demonstrating that this is not a bubble as some people think, but it is a digital asset capable of solving people's problems, and thus generating demand and organic growth.

Well it actually is a bit steady right now at that 1k range dude so i think everything would be on an upward trend from there although of course there will be dips but we can actually be sure that the price would surge again to close to the current rate. Good to see some old prices of bitcoin in this thread. I remember the start of 2016 and we were about 300$ per bitcoin. and after one year in jan 2017 we were 1000$. 700$ price increase is one year is really a great achievement and i think we should be happy with such growth rate.

I think it's still early for the price to reach some value in the range of $ 10,000 or something. But I think that studies that point to a value above $ 2,000 make sense. In my opinion , by the end of 2017 bitcoins price will be around 1500 dollars. It wont go more than that. I think we are going to see some mild roller coaster rides for the price of bitcoin on the chart. On an average, I think we might reach $700 mark on the lower side whereas $1,200 mark on the upper side (safest figures). There will be some golden opportunities for both kind of traders (the bulls and the bears) in this year but from the end of this year, we can expect sustainable growth.

I would go conservative here and just say around $1400 - $1600.  that is if ETF is not approved.  But if it is, i think Bitcoin will eventually reach $2,500 or more since it will have a great effect to other nation, and even to those hesitant investors.  The approval of ETF will certainly clears Bitcoin of all the doubts.

I don't think that we will see it back at $800 look on how it moves the price seems to be stable at good on its current position today. Bitcoin in the present was a good development in terms of the price increase though there is a bit volatility happen but still goes up the value , the demand was high for now and its getting more increase.

That bitcoin's price will be repeating what happened last year, so at the end of this year there will be another pump that will happen. And if you guys are thinking that there is a chance that it will comeback to lower price, it won't be.

This was a very good prediction considering the date it was made, October 12, 2016. Hopefully the price will not be falling further since there are many people who start buying little by little when they see BTC under $1,000.

Call me crazy but more and more I think HF will not happen, and that this is our chance to buy cheap coins. Dont know what games they play, but I see nobody profiting in the long term if HF comes. I did diverse some of my holding to alts, but it is minor, most I still keep in cold storage, still believing in bitcoin community to come together.

The sellers has stopped selling their coins at a very low value. Even though they dump a huge volume at the market to make bitcoin really go down but the support of the bitcoin community would not allow bitcoin to go that very low and instead of having a panic from the price decrease they find it an opportunity to increase their bitcoins. Its time to buy bitcoins now.

May be I am late in this thread, but my prediction was same. Because i have written in different threads about bitcoin, that bitcoin's price will be cross above $1100 to 1200, and it has done, as you see. But now i also want to predict the time has started that bitcoin price come back, and it is will be down more may be $800 to $900 and still stop for a time and than again it go up. But it is only my own prediction. But i am also worried about those people who have bought the bitcoin in a high price like $1000.   

The only reason btc price is down is due to the unclear future of Bitcoin, Segwit or unlimited, once the developers/miners get over this bump, bitcoin is going to get back on track and all the pump in the Altcoins presently is going to flush off. This is just for time being I feel.

So far the 2017 looks like a good year for bitcoin despite some difficulties and issues especialy regarding ETF and announced hard fork. I expect for price to go some more up and keep above 1000$ the majority of the year. This is a bold prediction mate. I don't think that $260 price is likely to happen even there's a change in protocol as you have mentioned. My speculation is that it will only get into the $700 range. For me $3,000 by the end of the year seems "realistic" but somewhere in the region of $2,000 to $2,500 is a safer prediction. Japanese market flooding the bitcoin ecosystem with cash flow is also a good indication that the price of bitcoin will continue to rise up to the end of the year.

Your post looks pretty old. Anyway as you can see we are in 2017 and the price has already risen up to $1200 and its not even mid-year. If we think of prices at the end of year then it gets pretty interesting to predict that. As we stand at point where bitcoin has always put our fingers in our mouths by looking at it's price waves on the trade chart. I always trust bitcoin in it's potential to rise up. I am damn sure by the end of 2017 bitcoin will hit $2000 making revolutionary investments in the bitcoins. Those who wouldn't trust this fact they will loose lot of money in terms of profit. Yes it looks to settle around that figure if you look critically at its growth from January. It might jump to $2000 at some point but I don't think it will settle there for that long since the market manipulations are huge so I will give it a+ or -30% margin for any potential pump.

The $2,000 price sounds pretty easy to accomplish. There's plenty news and other mainstream promotion being placed for Bitcoin, the only thing that Bitcoin really needs would be the investors. Once Bitcoin has a bunch of people holding the coins and not spending it as much the price ride will be awesome because we would know that if we sell the coins then we would have to purchase it again at a higher price than before.

It could be easily reach $2k value but we are still low investors .. unless  more business will come that accept bitcoin as payment. .it can be easily touch in that value.
For now i saw many website are accepting bitcoins right now and most of them are VPN companies.

I could not imagine before that we will grow fast from 2015 when i was started using bitcoin and now from $290 value before the price right now is $1200+

For now in my own views that much more possible to touch its value is nearly $1500 because i think more company or business will launch this middle of this year.

Well your answer has already been answered. Bitcoin has definitely held its strength and it has continued to get stronger and stronger. The price is now over 1200 dollars and it is still steadily rising. My prediction is that the price of Bitcoin will be close to 2000 dollars by the end of 2017.

I predict that we can only achieve $1500 tops for this year. The price will remain in constant and will only rise the last quarter of the year. Bitcoin price has corrected itself with $1200 and even if there is Japan who will make a cash flow in the bitcoin market, I don't think it will be enough to push the price more  than $1500 this year.

I believe that the cash inflow by investors (VC companies and such) already been done. The possible way to BTC price going higher is an increased demand. It looks like that Japan may be the source of that. Some news confirms that BTC will be recognized as a payment method over there, and this could rise the demand for it. The only question that we need to do is: Why someone in Japan would use BTC to pay something there?

I think bitcoin will go over your prediction which is 1500$ value per coin. I believe that a surge will happen since Japan, Indonesia and Russia will bring major impact on the value of bitcoin this year. With those countries involved the number of users will increase and it will affect the rapid increase in bitcoin value and it will hit 2k $ by the end of this year.

I also believe that $2,000 price for bitcoin is very possible before the end of the year because of the different good news from those three countries. Today we stand at $ 1000 + for each BTC and we will continue to see rise in BTC price at logarithmic rate for sure. I hope you had saved some BTC at the time of posting this thread because as you can see we have crossed $1000 and I am sure it will reach 2000+ by the end of this year. Reaching that goal is everyone's dream and I'm sensing a positive gut feeling for that. That's a great achievement for bitcoin that in very short period of time bitcoin almost double their price and yeah also a good news for one who hold their bitcoins to sell them in future, they will get double profit. And bitcoin will reach 1800$ at the middle  of this year.

It settled around the price 1000$ to 1200$.  Price will be increase in upcoming months and rate of adoption also increase gradually. In the month of December, price will be move to 1500$ due to Christmas bump. Block chain technology will be implemented to more in number with international companies.

I think $1500 is a good prediction if we keep in mind the actual situation which will keep us busy at least for another 12 months.
We could be much higher at the end of the year if we could solve the scaling debate. Just alone an activation of SegWit could push us up to $2000 in a short amount of time. But as I said I can not see that happen soon. Patience is needed and we need to be satisfied with less as probably by many guys expected.

In my opinion , bitcoins will increase its price much this year .There is a possibility that at the end of the year or  start of next year it's price increases upto 2000$. We have seen last month it's price was expected to rise but it didn't happen that way so, I think it will rise upto some extent in mean time. I am bitcoin liver and I trust bitcoins a lot. I beliebve bitcoin is going to reach 2500+ buy the end of 2017 year. Just look at the price of bitcoin. It was 680 buck when u posted this topic and today we are in the middle of year and it's double of what you said. So with that popular assumption I'm sure bitcoin will get above 2500.

My prediction is, Bitcoin will become more expensive this year and a lot of people will getting rich because of that and the average people of the internet will become interested in bitcoin and start their investment too and somehow bitcoin will become one of the popular currency and the hype will continue until bitcoin reach at least $2,000 and it will experience a sudden big dump because of the bag holders that sold their coins.

I mean just look at it, it is three times more than your prediction and you would have earned twice the amount you invested as pure profit. That is so cool to imagine about it.

if you look back to the first page and read all those posts coming from way back a year ago and compare the reaction and the current standing of bitcoin right now. we could really say how far bitcoin has gone and as of now not only doubled but more 5 times the price of bitcoin from year ago, and maybe before this year ends it might reach a new all time high.

My calculation for the end of 2017 is it will reach the price of around 6500$.By then I hope to accumulate it as much as I can.

This year is a big year in the history of bitcoin. The growth that has taken place from the beginning to the present day is much big compared to the past year. Last year the price increase happened based on the halving. This year nothing specific for a assured price increase is found, but everything continues to happen in the good way.

My prediction for bitcoin before this year ends is that it will reach to 5k usd and it did happened. So i guess it will stay at 5k usd mark before January 1st, 2018. But who knows, it rolls to 6k usd before this year ends? That's the scenario of bitcoin in the market. It's unpredictable.

it's funny to read these comments after a year has passed. People were betting that by the end of 2017 BTC would trade at 750 and at 1k.. and now it's about 5.5k.. damn. It shows just how much potential there is for the blockchain industry and how much money can be made if you get involved in it. Considering how things have developed, I'd expect to see BTC trade at 7.5 - 10k by the end of the year. It's done fantastic lately and considering the hard fork lately, the network will stabilize and attract even more people and traditional investors. There are already many hedge funds that try to get involved (besides the one's who are 100% crypto ready) and that's an interesting thing for new potential crypto users.

2017 is going to finish and the bitcoin price is still unstable. The volatility in the price is the main cause of low investment in the last term of 2017. That’s why the value of bitcoin decreases more than 1500 dollars in a single bitcoin which is a very huge amount.

Yeah as what I had observed BTC is keep on soaring ever since when investors continue to invest no doubt it will goes 6000 Usd in the start of the year 2018 in my point of view as what is happening as this continue only those big shut investors can afford to buy a whole 1 BTC I hope that for just for a while goes roller coaster ride so that we have an opportunity to buy and sell.

Definitely BTC now is at 6,000 usd so I'll expect for something big or higher price until December. I am not sure but maybe it will go for atleast 8,000usd.

Bitcoin is already priced at 6000$ and there are still 2 more months for further developments. There'll also be another hardfork in November and if it will be as successful or even more successful than the recent one, surely, its market value will be more expensive than it is, currently. Of course there is a chance that bitcoin sustain its price or better more surpass its current price now. Its already 6000$, and there is a coming hardfork this October.
